The personal assistant of top Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari was shot from point blank range by three sharpshooters on Wednesday night in Madhyamgram near Kolkata.
BJP leaders have condemned this attack, saying it was a “pre-planned murder” and a clear example of the fallout of ‘jungle raj’ during Mamata Banerjee’s rule.
A Special Investigation Team has been formed to probe the murder. Suvendu Adhikari described Trinamool Congress as “a party of killers”. He said, he was confident about investigative agencies probing the case and hoped that the killers would be nabbed soon.
Suvendu Adhikari has appealed to his partymen not to resort to any act of reprisal and maintain peace. His PA Chandranath Rath was travelling in a car when three sharpshooters stopped his vehicle, and pumped bullets from a Glock pistol, according to preliminary reports. Rath died on the spot.
There had a been a spate of violence in Bengal after the assembly poll results were out on May 4. Till now, nearly 200 FIRs have been filed and 433 persons have been arrested by police.
Bengal police, along with central paramilitary forces, are raiding hideouts of anti-social elements and large quantities of arms and ammunitions have been seized.
In Sandeshkhali of North 24 Parganas district, more than 20 country-made bombs were seized. Bengal police have set up a helpline for people to dial when violent incidents take place.
On Tuesday, a Trinamool Congress temporary office in Kolkata’s Dharmatala locality was demolished by some BJP supporters, using a bulldozer. BJP leaders claimed that the party office was built illegally in the middle of a busy road.
Incidents of post-poll violence have taken place in Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas, Asansol, Jalpaiguri, Birbhum and Bardhaman districts.
TMC leader Kunal Ghosh alleged that two of his party workers were killed in violence. He blamed the Election Commission for this spiral of violence.
The state BJP on Wednesday issued a press release asking people to beware of those who have changed their party overnight and have become BJP supporters.
The party has cautioned the public about some fake BJP supporters indulging in violence by misusing party flags. People have been asked to report such incidents to police immediately.
State BJP chief Shamik Bhattacharya met the state chief secretary and demanded that stringent action be taken against anti-social elements, whichever party they may belong to.
Since the day election results were declared, Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee appears to be finding it difficult to concede her defeat. She could be apprehensive about her supporters, who might opt to lie low after the debacle.
The face of her nephew Abhishek Banerjee, who had challenged Home Minister Amit Shah to come to Bengal after May 4, now appears pale and nervous in public.
There are reports of TMC supporters donning saffron clothes and ’tilak’, and holding BJP flags while indulging in violence. In some place, some BJP supporters have also indulged in vengeful action.
Videos of most of these acts of violence are available and it is up to the authorities to take corrective action, immediately. It is a good sign that police have swung into action and incidents of violence have declined.
For BJP, it will be a challenge to ensure peace, end fear in the minds of public and establish rule of law.

बंगाल में भाजपा नेता शुभेंदु अधिकारी के पर्सनल असिस्टेंट चंद्रनाथ रथ की निर्मम हत्या से वहां की राजनीति में उबाल आ गया है. भाजपा के नेताओं ने कहा कि यह टीएमसी के जंगल राज का नमूना है. इस हत्याकांड की जांच के लिए एक एसआईटी (विशेष जांच टीम) बनाई गई है.
शुभेंदु अधिकारी ने कहा कि तृणमूल कांग्रेस “हत्यारों की पार्टी है” और उन्हें पूरा भरोसा है कि जांच एजेंसियां हत्यारों को पकड़ कर सज़ा दिलाएगी. शुभेंदगु ने भाजपी कार्यकर्ताओं से अपील की कि वे किसी भी रूप में बदले की कार्रवाई न करें और शांति बनाए रखें.
शुभेंदु के पी.ए. बुधवार रात को कार से अपने घर जा रहे थे, जब कोलकाता के पास मध्यमग्राम में घात लगाकर बैठे तीन लोगों ने उन पर ग्लॉक पिस्टल से गोलियां चलाई. चंद्रनाथ रथ की घटनास्थल पर मौत हो गई.
बंगाल में 4 मई को चुनाव के नतीजे आने के बाद कई जगह हिंसा की घटनाएं हुई थी. बुधवार को शांति थी लेकिन रात को ही शुभेंदु अधिकारी के पीए की हत्या कर दी गई.
पूरे राज्य में चुनाव आयोग के कड़े निर्देश और पुलिस की सख्ती के बाद अब हालात काबू में तो हैं, लेकिन शुभेंदु के पीएम की हत्या से तनाव पैजा हो गया है.
बंगाल में चुनाव के बाद हुई हिंसा के तकरीबन 200 मामलों की FIR दर्ज की गई है और 433 लोगों को गिरफ़्तार किया गया है.
बंगाल पुलिस और अर्धसैनिक बल के जवान मिलकर जगह-जगह छापे मार रहे हैं. दक्षिण 24 परगना से बड़ी तादाद में घातक और धारदार हथियार बरामद किए गए हैं.
उत्तर 24 परगना ज़िले के संदेशखाली से 20 से ज़्यादा बम बरामद हुए हैं. बंगाल पुलिस ने हेल्पलाइन शुरू की है जिस पर कोई भी हिंसा होने पर शिकायत दर्ज करा सकता है.
शुभेंदु अधिकारी ने कहा कि तृणमूल कांग्रेस के खिलाफ लोगों में नाराज़गी है, इसलिए कुछ जगहों पर तृणमूल कांग्रेस के दफ्तरों पर हमले हुए हैं, लेकिन भाजपा कार्यकर्ता इस तरह के काम न करें.
मंगलवार को कोलकाता के धर्मतला इलाक़े में जीत का जश्न मना रहे बीजेपी कार्यकर्ताओं ने तृणमूल कांग्रेस के एक दफ्तर को बुल्डोज़र से गिरा दिया था. बीजेपी के कार्यकर्ताओं का कहना था कि TMC का ये दफ्तर गैरकानूनी तरीके से सड़क के बीचोंबीच बनाया गया हैस इसलिए इसे तोड़ा गया.
चुनाव के नतीजे आने के बाद कोलकाता, हावड़ा, उत्तर 24 परगना, दक्षिण 24 परगना, आसनसोल, जलपाईगुड़ी, बीरभूम और बर्धमान में मारपीट और तोड़फोड़ की घटनाएं हुईं.
तृणमूल कांग्रेस के नेताओं का आरोप है कि चुनाव जीतने के बाद से बीजेपी के समर्थक पार्टी के दफ़्तरों पर हमले कर रहे हैं और उनके समर्थकों को टारगेट कर रहे हैं.
तृणमूल कांग्रेस के नेता कुणाल घोष ने कहा है कि चुनाव के बाद हुई हिंसा में उनके दो कार्यकर्ता मारे गए और इसके लिए चुनाव आयोग ज़िम्मेदार है.
प्रदेश भाजपा ने एक विज्ञप्ति जारी करके कहा है कि चुनाव नतीजों के बाद रातों-रात पाला बदलने वालों से लोग सावधान रहें, भाजपा का झंडा लेकर गड़बड़ करने वालों से सतर्क रहें, अगर कोई ऐसा करे तो उसकी जानकारी तुरंत पुलिस को दें.
प्रदेश भाजपा अध्यक्ष शमिक भट्टाचार्य ने बंगाल के मुख्य सचिव से मुलाक़ात की और हिंसा करने वालों के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई की मांग की.
चुनाव नतीजे आने के बाद साफ दिखाई दे रहा है कि ममता बनर्जी से हार बर्दाश्त नहीं हो रही है. उन्हें डर है कि उनकी पार्टी के नेता और कार्यकर्ता घबराकर घर पर न बैठ जाएं.
जो अभिषेक बनर्जी पिछले हफ्ते अमित शाह को चुनौती दे रहे थे, उनके चेहरे पर हवाईयां उड़ी हुई हैं. TMC के समर्थक कई जगह भगवा पहन कर, तिलक लगाकर अपने को बीजेपी का समर्थक बताने लगे हैं, कई जगह पर उन्होंने हिंसा भी की है, कुछ इलाकों में बीजेपी के समर्थकों ने भी मारपीट की है.
हिंसा की घटनाओं के बाद सब कुछ कैमरे पर है. ये हिंसा नहीं होनी चाहिए थी. अच्छी बात है कि पुलिस ने हिंसा पर काबू पा लिया.
अब भाजपा के लिए सबसे बड़ी चुनौती ये है कि बंगाल में शांति बनी रहे, लोगों के मन से डर खत्म हो, और कानून का राज कायम हो.

Preparations for the formation of new governments in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Kerala have begun. TVK chief superstar Vijay will probably take oath as Tamil Nadu CM on May 7, and Himanta Biswa Sarma may take oath again as CM of Assam after May 11.
The new BJP government in West Bengal will take oath on May 9 (Rabindra Jayanti).
On Tuesday, outgoing CM Mamata Banerjee said, she will not tender her resignation to the Governor. She alleged, her party TMC has not lost the election, it was deliberately made to lose and the “main villain” is the Election Commission.
It does not matter if Mamata tenders her resignation or not. A newly elected Assembly will be formed after the winners get their certificates from returning officers.
As far as the new CM is concerned, past experience says, it is a risky job to predict a BJP CM under Modi’s rule, but if Suvendu Adhikari is picked as the new CM, it will amount to rubbing salt into Mamata’s wounds.
Suvendu used to be No. 2 in Trinamool Congress till six years ago, when he joined the BJP. Mamata Banerjee and her police harassed Suvendu for the last six years.
Suvendu as the new CM can make life hell for Mamata Banerjee. There is a saying, an injury caused by a close associate can cause more pain. Mamata is going to feel this pain in the coming months and years.
As far as Mamata’s allegations about rigging against EC is concerned, I have explained in my show ‘Aaj Ki Baat’ on Tuesday night, how in 20 constituencies, where the largest number of names of voters were deleted during SIR, TMC won 12 seats.
If this is the case, how can Mamata say, her party was defeated because of deletion of names of voters during SIR? Before blaming the EC, she must note, there was record 93 per cent polling in Bengal this time. It means, EC did not stop voters from polling.
It will be better if Mamata and her close colleagues sit down and do some serious introspection on the reasons behind the poll debacle.

Opposition unity

One side effect of the recent election results from Bengal, TN, Assam and Kerala is: the nearly defunct INDIA bloc has sprung back to life.
Earlier, Mamata used to claim, only she can challenge Modi. TMC leaders were saying, Mamata should be made the leader of anti-Modi front. However, on Tuesday, Mamata said, now that she is free after the Bengal elections, she would go around the country to mobilize people against Modi and BJP.
Mamata said, Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, Uddhav Thackeray, Akhilesh Yadav and Arvind Kejriwal rang her up and she would now devote most of her time to revive the INDIA bloc.
J & K chief minister Omar Abdullah was quick to point out that this is not the first time such results have come from assembly elections. He said, after almost every assembly poll, opposition parties contest against one another, and after BJP wins, they speak about strengthening opposition alliance.
Omar said, opposition leaders must first decide whether the alliance is meant to fight Lok Sabha elections, or will the opposition fight assembly polls jointly.
A few days ago, at the height of campaigning, Rahul Gandhi said, it was Mamata Banerjee who was responsible for making Modi strong politically. Mamata, on her part, had given ‘Ekla Chalo’ slogan in Bengal, Rahul had spurned TVK chief Vijay’s offer of alliance in TN, and Arvind Kejriwal had described Congress as “BJP’s B team”.
It is now clear that Mamata’s crushing defeat has scared opposition leaders across the political spectrum. They have now realized if Modi can defeat Mamata Banerjee in her fort, he can also defeat other stalwarts in their own bastions.
Opposition leaders have now come to realize that they cannot challenge Modi unless they are united.
As of now, this is nothing but useful thinking. Kejriwal’s party will be fighting the Congress in Punjab, Rahul Gandhi’s Congress will leave the DMK alliance and join Vijay’s government.
If all opposition parties start working according to their convenience, what will happen to “Hum Saath Saath Hain”?

पश्चिम बंगाल, असम, तमिलनाडु, केरल और पुडुचेरी में नई सरकारों के गठन की तैयारियां चल रही है. TVK नेता सुपरस्टार विजय शायद 7 मई को और असम में हिमंता बिस्वा सर्मा 11 मई के बाद शपथ लेंगे.
बंगाल में नई बीजेपी सरकार नौ मई को रवींद्र जयंती के दिन शपथ लेगी. ये भी तय है कि शुभेन्दु अधिकारी बंगाल के नए मुख्यमंत्री होंगे लेकिन मंगलवार को ममता बनर्जी ने कहा कि वो राज्यपाल को अपना इस्तीफा देने नहीं जाएंगी.
ममता ने कहा कि वह चुनाव हारी नहीं हैं, उन्हें हराया गया है, वह इस्तीफा क्यों दे?
वैसे चुनाव हारने के बाद इस्तीफा देने या न देने से कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता लेकिन ममता के इस रुख से साफ है कि चुनावी झगड़ा खत्म नहीं हुआ है.
ममता ने आरोप लगाया कि चुनाव आयोग ने SIR के ज़रिए गड़बड़ी की, वोटों की गिनती में हेराफेरी की और बीजेपी को चुनाव में जिताया.
जहां तक नये सीएम का सवाल है, पुराना अनुभव तो ये कहता है कि मोदी के राज में ये बताना कि सीएम कौन बनेगा बड़ा रिस्की काम है लेकिन अगर शुभेंदु अधिकारी सीएम बनते हैं तो ये ममता के जले पर नमक छिड़कने जैसा होगा.
एक ज़माने में शुभेंदु अधिकारी तृणमूल कांग्रेस में ममता के बाद दो नंबर के लीडर हुआ करते थे, उन्हीं शुभेंदु अधिकारी ने ममता को दो-दो बार विधानसभा चुनाव में हराकर उन्हें रुला दिया.
शुभेंदु सिर्फ 6 साल पहले बीजेपी में शामिल हुए, ममता ने इन 6 सालों में शुभेंदु को खूब दौड़ाया, ममता की पुलिस ने शुभेंदु को खूब सताया.
अब अगर शुभेंदु सीएम बने तो ममता का जीना मुश्किल हो जाएगा. जो अपना था उससे खाई गई चोट ज्यादा दर्द देती है. इसका अहसास ममता को हर रोज़ होगा.
ममता ने आरोप लगाया है कि चुनाव आयोग ने SIR में वोट कटवाकर उन्हें हरवाया. मैंने अपने शो ‘आज की बात’ में उन 20 सीटों के नतीजे दिखाए, जहां SIR में सबसे ज्यादा वोट कटे थे, इनमें से ममता ने 12 सीटें जीती.
तो कोई कैसे कह सकता है कि SIR के कारण ममता की हार हुई? चुनाव आयोग को दोषी ठहराने से पहले ये भी देखना चाहिए कि इस बार बंगाल में रिकॉर्ड 93 प्रतिशत वोटिंग हुई. इसका मतलब चुनाव आयोग ने किसी को वोट देने से नहीं रोका.
इसलिए इधर-उधर की बात करने के बजाए कुछ आत्मचिंतन करना चाहिए और हार को मर्यादा के साथ स्वीकार करना चाहिए.

विपक्षी एकता

इस बार चुनाव नतीजों का एक असर ये हो रहा है कि INDIA गठबंधन को इन नतीजों ने फिर से ज़िंदा कर दिया.
ममता बनर्जी पहले दावा करती थी कि मोदी का मुकाबला वही कर सकती है. तृणमूल कांग्रेस के नेता उन्हें मोदी-विरोधी मोर्चे का नेता बनाने की मांग कर रहे थे लेकिन मंगलवार को ममता ने कहा कि चुनाव नतीजे आने के बाद लह अब फ्री हो गई हैं और वह पूरे देश में घूम कर बीजेपी के खिलाफ मुहिम चलाएंगी.
ममता ने कहा, उन्हें सोनिया गांधी और राहुल गांधी से लेकर उद्धव ठाकरे और अरविंद केजरीवाल तक, विपक्ष के सभी नेताओं के फोन आए, अब वो भी INDIA गठबंधन को मजूबत करेंगी.
जम्मू कश्मीर के सीएम उमर अब्दुल्ला कह रहे हैं कि किसी राज्य में बीजेपी की इकतरफ़ा जीत का ऐसा नतीजा कोई पहली बार तो आया नहीं, लेकिन हर चुनाव में होता यही है कि विरोधी दल पहले आपस में लड़ते हैं, फिर बीजेपी की जीत के बाद एलायंस मज़बूत करने की बातें करते हैं, ऐसे में पहले ये तय करना होगा कि ये गठबंधन संसद के लिए है या फिर राज्यों के चुनावों में भी लागू होगा.
कुछ दिन पहले राहुल गांधी ने बंगाल में अपने प्रचार के समय नरेंद्र मोदी की ताकत बढ़ाने के लिए ममता बनर्जी को जिम्मेदार ठहराया था.
ममता ने ‘एकला चलो’ का नारा दिया था, राहुल ने TVK के विजय के साथ जाने का ऑफर ठुकराया था, केजरीवाल ने कांग्रेस पर बीजेपी की B टीम होने का आरोप लगाया था, लेकिन आज ऐसा लगा कि ममता की हार ने राहुल गांधी, अखिलेश यादव, अरविंद केजरीवाल सबको डरा दिया है.
अगर मोदी ममता को हरा सकते हैं तो बाकी किसी की क्या बिसात है?
अब सबको लगता है कि इनमें से कोई अकेले मोदी का मुकाबला नहीं कर सकता. इसलिए सबको साथ चलना पड़ेगा.
लेकिन इस वक्त ये सब ख्याली पुलाव है. पंजाब में केजरीवाल कांग्रेस से लड़ेंगे, तमिलनाडु में राहुल DMK का साथ छोड़कर विजय के साथ चलेंगे, सब अपनी अपनी सुविधा देखेंगे, तो फिर हम साथ-साथ हैं का क्या होगा?

पश्चिम बंगाल और असम में भारतीय जनता पार्टी की ऐतिहासिक विजय वाकई आश्चर्यजनक है. वैसे ही मतदान वाले दिन भारी संख्या में वोटरों का मतदान केंद्रों पर आना चौंकाने वाला था, लेकिन 4 मई को जो नतीजे आए, वो सब आश्चर्य में डालने वाले थे.
बंगाल में आज़ादी के बाद पहली बार भाजपा की सरकार बनेगी, तमिलनाडु में 60 साल बाद द्रविड़ राजनीति की विदाई हो गई, परिवारवादी सियासत पर ब्रेक लगा और पहली बार चुनाव लड़ रहे सुपरस्टार जोसेफ विजय राजनीति में एक नये नायक के रूप में उभरे.
2014 के बाद पिछले 12 साल में भाजपा का समूचे भारत में जिस तरह विस्तार हुआ, वह एक ऐतिहासिक उपलब्धि है. 2014 में जब नरेंद्र मोदी प्रधानमंत्री बने थे, उस समय भाजपा और उसके मित्र दलों की सात राज्यों में सरकारें थीं, जबकि कांग्रेस और उसके मित्र दलों की 14 राज्यों में सरकारें थी. सात राज्यों में क्षेत्रीय पार्टियों की सरकारें थी. उत्तर प्रदेश, बिहार, महाराष्ट्र और उत्तर पूर्वी राज्यों में भाजपा की सरकारें नहीं थी.
चार साल बाद 2018 में भाजपा ने अपने पैर पसारे. यूपी, महाराष्ट्र, असम और जम्मू कश्मीर में भाजपा और मित्र दलों की सरकारें बनीं.
आज तस्वीर बिल्कुल अलग है. 22 राज्यों में भाजपा और उसके मित्र दलों की सरकारें हैं, जबकि कांग्रेस और उसके मित्र दलों की सिर्फ 6 राज्यों में सरकारें हैं. भाजपा की अपनी सरकारें 14 राज्यों में हैं, जबकि बाकी 8 राज्यों में मित्र दलों के साथ उसकी सरकारें हैं.
कांग्रेस उल्टी दिशा में बहने लगी. 2014 में कांग्रेस और उसके मित्र दलों की सरकारें 14 राज्यों में थी, जहां की आबादी 44.5 करोड़ थी. अब यह सिमट कर 8 राज्यों की केवल 20.6 करोड़ आबादी तक सीमित रह गई.
प्रधानमंत्री बनने के बाद पिछले 12 साल में नरेंद्र मोदी ने बीजेपी को चुनाव लड़ना और जीतना सिखाया. जहां सरकारें बनीं वहां फिर से सफलता पाना सिखाया.
आज देश के 22 राज्यों में NDA की सरकारें हैं. गंगोत्री से गंगासागर तक कमल खिला है और जीत की ललक का आलम ये है कि बंगाल में ऐतिहासिक जीत के बाद अभी से ही पंजाब और उत्तर प्रदेश में चुनाव की तैयारी शुरू हो गई.
जीत की ये लालसा जगाने का और बीजेपी को इसके लिए तैयार करने का पूरा श्रेय नरेंद्र मोदी को जाता है.

पश्चिम बंगाल

मुझे आज वो दिन याद आया जब 1993 में कोलकाता में Writers’ building (राज्य सचिवालय) की सीढ़ियों पर ममता बनर्जी को बालों से पकड़कर घसीटा गया था. तब उन्होंने कसम खाई थी कि वो मुख्यमंत्री बनकर ही Writers’ building में लौटेंगी.
2011 में उन्होंने कसम पूरी की लेकिन आज नरेंद्र मोदी की लोकप्रियता और अमित शाह की रणनीति ने ममता को 15 साल बाद मुख्यमंत्री के कार्यालय से बाहर कर दिया. खुद ममता बनर्जी भवानीपुर से चुनाव हार गई.
ममता बनर्जी जबरदस्त फाइटर हैं. उन्हें हराना आसान नहीं था. इस चुनाव का micro management और बूथ लेवल की इंजीनियरिंग का काम अमित शाह ने अपने हाथ में लिया.
सबसे पहले 2021 के चुनाव में जो गलतियां हुईं थीं, उनको ठीक किया, ममता पर व्यक्तिगत हमले बंद किए, बीजेपी ने इस बार बंगाल में चुनाव स्थानीय परिवेश में लड़ा. मुद्दे स्थानीय थे, प्रतीक स्थानीय थे, देवी-देवता स्थानीय थे, खाना-पीना, संस्कृति सब स्थानीय.
स्थानीय प्रतीकों जैसे झालमूड़ी, काली बाड़ी पर मोदी ने भी फोकस किया. बीजेपी के नेता मछली लेकर चुनाव प्रचार करते दिखे. बीजेपी ने छोटे-छोटे काम किए जिनका असर बड़ा हुआ, जैसे 80 हजार फुटबॉल बांटे, 5000 क्रिकेट बैट बांटे. 220 विधायकों के खिलाफ स्थानीय स्तर पर चार्जशीट बांटे गय़े. 100 किलोमीटर की परिवर्तन यात्रा निकाली. मछली और झालमुड़ी से बंगालियों के दिलों को छुआ.
सबसे बड़ी बात, लोगों के दिलो दिमाग से ममता बनर्जी और तृणमूल कांग्रेस का भय खत्म किया. इसीलिए 93 प्रतिशत मतदान हुआ. पश्चिम बंगाल के नतीजे का मतलब है कि ममता बनर्जी का वोटर बेस कमजोर हुआ है.
नौजवान और महिला वोटर पूरी तरह बीजेपी के साथ जुड़े, जो भद्रलोक डर के मारे घर से नहीं निकलते थे, वे भी वोट देने आए.
ममता बदला चाहतीं थीं, मोदी बदलाव चाहते थे. मोदी ने हिंदू वोटों को लामबंद किया, ममता का मुस्लिम वोटर बैंक भी बिखर गया. इसीलिए बीजेपी को इतनी जबरदस्त जीत मिली.
बंगाल के चुनाव नतीजों का असर देश की सियासत पर भी होगा. अब मोदी को चुनौती देने वाला विपक्ष के पास कोई नेता नहीं है. ममता दावा करती थीं कि अकेली वही हैं जो मोदी से टकरा सकती हैं, मोदी को हरा सकती हैं, लेकिन बंगाल की जनता ने जवाब दे दिया.
मोदी को चुनौती देने वाले दूसरे नेता थे, तमिलनाडु के मुख्यमंत्री एम. के. स्टालिन. आज तमिलनाडु की जनता ने स्टालिन को भी घर भेज दिया.

तमिलनाडु

जोसेफ विजय चंद्रशेखर को लोग सुपरस्टार विजय के नाम से जानते हैं. अब वो चीफ मिनिस्टर विजय के रूप में जाने जाएंगे.
विजय ने एक्टिंग के लिए पढ़ाई छोड़ दी थी. अब राजनीति के लिए उन्होंने एक्टिंग छोड़ दी.
विजय को फॉर्मूला फिल्मों ने मास हीरो बनाया लेकिन उन्होंने राजनीति का सेट फॉर्मूला छोड़ा तो जनता ने उन्हें Chief Minister बना दिया.
विजय देश के highest paid actors में एक हैं लेकिन उन्होंने 2024 में ऐलान कर दिया कि “थलपति 69″ उनकी आखिरी फिल्म होगी. बाद में “जन नायगन” फिल्म बनाई, लेकिन चुनाव आने के कारण ये फिल्म रिलीज नहीं हो सकी.
विजय ने ये दिया कि उन्हें पैसे से प्यार नहीं है, तमिलनाडु की जनता से प्यार है.
विजय की पार्टी की कोई विचारधारा नहीं है, न ही संगठन है लेकिन उनके पास फैन्स क्लब का अच्छा नेटवर्क है जिसके बल पर चुनाव लड़ा.
जहां स्टालिन और उनके बेटे सत्ता के अहंकार में जनता की पहुंच से दूर हो गए थे, विजय ने खुद को आम इंसान की तरफ पेश किया, लोगों के बीच गए, उन्हें समझाया कि वह उनके भाई हैं.
विजय पहली बार मैदान में उतरे और साठ के दशक से चले आ रहे DMK और AIADMK के वर्चस्व को एक झटके में खत्म कर दिया.
जो काम राष्ट्रीय पार्टियां 60 साल में नहीं कर पाईं, वह काम विजय ने सिर्फ दो साल में कर दिखाया. ये किसी चमत्कार से कम नहीं है.

असम

असम में भाजपा को हैट्रिक जीक दिलाने वाले मुख्यमंत्री हिमंता बिस्व सरमा को राहुल गांधी बेहद नापसंद करते हैं. उनको हराने के लिए कांग्रेस ने बड़ी भारी रणनीति बनाई थी.
कांग्रेस के नेताओं ने हिमंता पर बेसिरपैर के इल्जाम लगाए, व्क्तिगत स्तर पर हमला किया. लेकिन हिमंता राहुल गांधी और कांग्रेस को अच्छी तरह जानते हैं. उन्होंने बिना घबराए आजकल के T-20 सलामी बैट्समैन की तरह जबरदस्त बैटिंग की. शुरुआती दौर में इतने छक्के मारे कि कांग्रेस का सारा प्लान फेल हो गया.
हिमंता ने कांग्रेस के हिंदू नेताओं को बीजेपी में आने का निमंत्रण दिया. कांग्रेस को मुसलमानों की पार्टी करार दे दिया. हिमंता ने “मियां” मुसलमानों को टारगेट किया. लाइन क्लीयर थी, नैरैटिव साफ था, कांग्रेस पूरी तरह ट्रैप में फंस गई.
और नतीजा ये हुआ कि गौरव गोगोई चुनाव हार गए और कांग्रेस सिर्फ उन इलाकों में जीती, जहां मुस्लिम वोट ज्यादा थे.
हिमंता बिस्व सरमा की जीत राहुल गांधी को काफी परेशान करेगी.

The spectacular victories of BJP in West Bengal and Assam assembly elections have surprised many. The huge voter turnout in Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Kerala was surprising and now, the results have stunned all.

The dramatic spread of BJP across India in the last 12 years has surprised most of the people. In 2014, when Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, BJP-led NDA was ruling seven states, Congress and its allies were ruling 14 states, and seven states were being ruled by regional parties. BJP had no governments in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra and its presence in the northeast was minimal.

Four years later, in 2018, BJP spread its wings. BJP and its allies were ruling UP, Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir, and several north-eastern states including Assam.

Today, BJP and its allies are in power in 22 states, while Congress and its allies are ruling only six states. BJP, on its own, is now ruling 14 states while it is in power in eight states with its allies.

The Congress moved in the opposite direction. In 2014, Congress and its allies were ruling 14 states with a population of 44.5 crores. This has now shrinked to only six states having a population of only 20.6 crore.

The credit for BJP’s spectacular rise in pan-Indian politics goes to Narendra Modi. In the last 12 years, he taught his party leaders how to contest and win elections. In states, where the party came to power, he taught how to repeat their victories by overcoming anti-incumbency.

It is a matter of pride for the BJP that NDA governments are now in 21 states of India, spreading from Gangotri in Uttarakhand to Gangasagar, where Ganga falls into the Bay of Bengal.

The yearning for victories continues. Already, BJP has started electoral preparations for Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. Again, the credit for this goes to Narendra Modi and his untiring efforts.

Historic results

The results of May 4 are historic in three aspects.

First, for the first time in 70 years, there is no Communist government in any Indian state. The first Communist government was formed in Kerala by E.M.S.Namboodiripad in 1957.
Second, for the first time in 60 years there will be no Dravidian government in Tamil Nadu because of the spectacular win by superstar Joseph Vijay’s party TVK. The first DMK government was formed in 1967 by C.N.Annadurai, the founder of DMK.

Third, for the first time in the history of West Bengal, BJP is going to form its government by winning 207 seats in a House of 294. Mamata Banerjee’s 15-year-old rule has come to an end.

BENGAL

I still remember those days in 1993, when Mamata Banerjee was dragged by her hair on the stairs of Writers’ Building in Kolkata. At that time, she had vowed to return to the building only after becoming the CM. She fulfilled her vow in 2011, when she ended CPI(M)’s 34-year-long rule.

Mamata Banerjee is a fighter. It was not easy for Modi and Amit Shah to defeat her party. Careful micro-management and booth-level ‘engineering’ was personally done by Amit Shah, who stayed put in Bengal for more than two weeks.

Past mistakes by the party were corrected, a brake was put on personal attacks against Mamata. The election was fought on local issues, the icons were local, the gods were local, the food style and culture were all local. Modi focused on visiting Kalibaris and ate ‘jhalmuri’ in public. BJP leaders were seen holding fish during their campaign.

BJP workers did small things which had a larger effect. They distributed 80,000 footballs and 5,000 cricket bats to sports crazy Bengali youths. Chargesheets were prepared against 220 TMC legislators. A 100-km long poriborton padyatra was carried out.

The fear prevailing in the minds of Bengalis towards Mamata and TMC was ultimately broken. This resulted in a 93 per cent voter turnout.

The results clearly show that Mamata’s voter base has shrunk to a large extent. Women and youths joined BJP ranks. The middle-class Bengali ‘bhadralok’ came in large numbers to polling stations to vote.
Mamata wanted ‘badla'(revenge), and Modi gave the slogan ‘badlav’ (change). Modi consolidated Hindu votes and Mamata’s Muslim vote bank broke into several parts. These were the main reasons behind BJP’s spectacular landslide win.

The Bengal results will also have consequences on national politics. There is no popular leader left in the opposition, who can give Modi a strong challenge.

Mamata used to claim that only she could give Modi a strong challenge and defeat BJP. The people of Bengal have given their answer. The other regional leader who could have challenged Modi was DMK supremo M. K. Stalin. The people of Tamil Nadu also sent Stalin packing.

TAMIL NADU

Actor Joseph Vijay Chandrashekhar is known popularly in Tamil Nadu as superstar Vijay. He will now be known as Chief Minister Vijay. This actor left education for pursuing his interest in acting. Now he has left acting in pursuing his interest in politics.

Formula films made Vijay a hero of the masses. He discarded the set formula of politics and people have now made him the chief minister. Vijay is one of the highest paid film actors, but in 2024 he announced that ‘Thalapathy 69′ will be his last movie. Now he has come with a new movie ‘Jana Nayagan’, the release of which was halted during elections.

Vijay succeeded in giving the message to people that he is not in love with money, he loves the people of Tamil Nadu. His party TVK has no clear ideology, nor is there any well-oiled organisation. But he has his good network of fan clubs, which helped him in this election.

On the other hand, Stalin and his son Udhayanidhi, had cut themselves off from the masses because of their oversized egos. Vijay presented himself as a man from the masses. He went to the people and explained to them that he would work like their brother.

In a single stroke, Vijay demolished the domination of DMK and AIADMK. What the national parties could not do in TN in the last six decades was done by a popular film actor in two years. This is nothing short of a miracle.

ASSAM

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, a good administrator and a popular orator even in Hindi-speaking states, is intensely disliked by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The Congress had prepared a comprehensive strategy to stop him from scoring a hattrick of wins. Baseless allegations were levelled against him and his family. He was made the target of personal attacks.

But Himanta, a former Congress leader, knows how Rahul Gandhi and his party workers think and work. Like the T20 openers of today, Himanta hit a flurry of sixes soon as he started batting. All the plans of Congress were foiled.

Himanta gave an open invitation to Hindu leaders from Congress in Assam to join him. He declared Congress as a party of Muslims. Himanta targeted ‘miya’ (Muslims) in his campaign.

The line was clear, the narrative was clear, and Congress fell in his trap. The result: Gaurav Gogoi, Rahul’s loyalist, lost the election. Congress won only from those constituencies where Muslims dominated.
Himanta Biswa Sarma’s victory will surely worry Rahul in the days to come.
