महाराष्ट्र में जो हुआ उसमें अंदर की एक-दो बातें आपके साथ शेयर कर सकता हूं. दो महीने पहले अजीत पवार ने शरद पवार को बताया था कि एनसीपी के ज्यादातर विधायक महाराष्ट्र की बीजेपी शिवसेना सरकार में शामिल होना चाहते हैं. शरद पवार ने स्वीकार किया कि ज्यादातर लोग यही चाहते हैं, पर शरद पवार की व्यक्तिगत आपत्ति थी. वो बीजेपी के साथ नहीं जाना चाहते थे. तो कई बैठकों के बाद ये तय हुआ कि पवार साहब NCP का अध्यक्ष पद छोड़ेंगे, उनकी जगह सुप्रिया सुले को अध्य़क्ष बनाया जाएगा और महाराष्ट्र और केन्द्र में NCP सरकार में शामिल हो जाएगी. अजीत पवार उपमुख्यमंत्री बनेंगे और केन्द्र में जो एक मंत्री पद NCP को मिलेगा, वो भी सुप्रिया सुले को दिया जाएगा. महाराष्ट्र की राजनीति अजीत पवार चलाएंगे. सारी बातचीत पक्की हो गई. इसी प्लान के तहत शरद पवार ने इस्तीफा दिया, लेकिन दो दिन बाद शरद पवार पलट गए. फिर से पार्टी की कमान अपने हाथ मे ले ली. अजीत पवार को गच्चा दे दिया. इसके बाद अजीत पवार ने प्रफुल्ल पटेल से बात की. दोनों ने तय किय़ा इस ढुलमुल नीति को ज्यादा दिन बर्दाश्त नहीं करेंगे. इन दोनों ने पार्टी के पांच छह वरिष्ठ नेताओं से बात की. उन्होंने आगे विधायकों से चर्चा की, और फैसला किया कि पवार साहब तैयार हों या न हों, NCP को सरकार में शामिल होना चाहिए. ये बात अमित शाह तक पहुंचाई गई. इसके बाद अमित शाह ने पता लगाया कि क्या सचमुच चालीस विधायक अजीत पवार के साथ हैं या नहीं, और जैसे ही इस बात की पुष्टि हुई, रविवार को खेल हो गया. मुझे ये भी पता चला कि ये खेल खेलने की तैयारी एक बार पहले भी की गई थी, जब शिन्दे गुट के लोग दो-दो, चार-चार करके गुवहाटी में इक्कठा हो रहे थे. अजीत पवार ने अपने विधायकों से बात की. 51 विधायक ऐसे थे जो बीजेपी के साथ मिलकर सरकार बनाने के लिए तैयार थे. अजीत पवार ने शरद पवार से कहा कि शिन्दे अपने विधायकों को लेकर आएं. इससे पहले अगर एनसीपी बीजेपी के साथ हाथ मिला ले, तो पवार परिवार मजबूत स्थिति में रहेगा. शरद पवार ने कहा, जाओ बात करो. उस समय भी प्रफुल्ल पटेल ने अमित शाह से बात की थी. देवेन्द्र फडनवीस भी तैयार थे. जब सबकुछ तय हो गया तो ऐन मौके पर शरद पवार ने पलटी मार दी, हाथ पीछे खींचे लिए. अजीत पवार बार बार उनसे कहते रहे कि तीसरी बार आपने स्टैंड बदला है, इससे पार्टी को बहुत नुकसान हुआ है. पार्टी कई कदम पीछे चली गई है. NCP के नेताओं को लगता है कि पवार साहब विरोधी दलों की एकता के सूत्रधार बनना चाहते हैं, वो मोदी से इतने चिढ़े हुए हैं कि किसी भी कीमत पर उनको नुकसान पहुंचाना चाहते हैं और विरोधी दलों के बीच लीडरी करना तब तक संभव नहीं होगा जब तक NCP फर उनका कन्ट्रोल न हो. इसलिए पार्टी के बड़े नेताओं की, विधायकों की, पूर्व मंत्रियों की राय जानने के बावजूद वो NCP से कन्ट्रोल छोड़ना नहीं चाहते. इस बार अजीत पावर ने उनसे साफ कह दिया कि आपने अपनी पारी खेल ली, आप एक बार भी NCP की सरकार अपने दम पर नहीं बना पाए, केजरीवाल जैसे नए नए नेता ने दो दो राज्यों में सरकारें बना लीं. अगर आपके बस का नहीं, तो अब हमें खेलने दो. उनको ये भी समझाया गया कि 83 साल की उम्र हो चुकी, स्वास्थ्य उनका साथ नहीं देता, अब उन्हें थोड़ा आराम करना चाहिए, लेकिन पवार आराम से बैठने को तैयार नहीं है. अजीत पवार की बगावत के बाद वो फिर मैदान में उतर गए हैं. अब वो पूरे महाराष्ट्र में घूमेंगे. उन्हें इसमें मजा भी आता है, पर प्रफुल्ल पटेल और अजीत पवार शरद पवार की नस-नस से वाकिफ हैं, उनकी हर चाल को पहचानते हैं, उन्हें कैसे काउंटर करना है, इसे भी समझते हैं. इसलिए महाराष्ट्र में अगले कुछ महीनों में जबरदस्त राजनीतिक युद्ध देखने को मिलेगा, ये पक्का है.

खालिस्तानियों में जंग

अमेरिका और कनाडा में बैठे हिंदुस्तान के दुश्मनों ने एक बार फिर सिर उठाने की कोशिश की है. पाकिस्तानी आकाओं के इशारों पर काम करने वाले खालिस्तानी आतंकवादियों ने फिर भारत को धमकी दी है. सैनफ्रांसिको में खालिस्तानी आतंकवादियों ने भारतीय वाणिज्य दूतावास में घुसने की कोशिश की, वहां आग लगा दी. अमेरिका में भारत के राजदूत और सैन फ्रांसिको में हमारे महावाणिज्यदूत पर हमले की धमकी दी. इसी तरह की हरकतें कनाडा में भी दिखाई दीं. यहां खालिस्तानियों ने पोस्टर्स जारी करके भारत के उच्चायुक्त और महावाणिज्यदूत को जान से मारने की धमकी दी है. पोस्टर पर भारतीय राजनयिकों की तस्वीरें लगाई गईं . अमेरिकी विदेश मंत्रालय ने ने सैन फ्रांसिको में हुए हमले की निंदा की है. हमला करने वाले आतंकवादियों के खिलाफ एक्शन शुरू हो गया है, लेकिन भारत सरकार ने साफ कर दिया है कि सिर्फ जुबानी जमा खर्च से काम नहीं चलेगा. अमेरिका और कनाडा दोनों देशों से साफ कहा गया है कि भारत के खिलाफ काम करने वालों पर सख्ती करनी होगी वरना आपसी रिश्ते खराब होंगे. कनाडा के ओटावा में आतंकवादियों ने धमकी दी है कि 8 जुलाई को वहां भारतीय उच्चायोग के बाहर खालिस्तान फ्रीडम रैली निकालेंगे. भारत ने कनाडा से कहा कि इस पर समय रहते एक्शन लिया जाए लेकिन सवाल ये है कि दूसरे मुल्कों में छुपकर बैठे खालिस्तानी दहशतगर्द अचानक इस तरह की हरकतें क्यों करने लगे हैं? उनकी मंशा क्या है? वो इतने बौखलाए हुए क्यों है? क्या वजह है कि अब तक बिलों में छुपे बैठे देश के दुश्मनों को अचानक बाहर निकलने पर मजबूर होना पड़ा? मैं आपको बताता हूं कि विदेशों में छुपे बैठे खालिस्तानी क्यों बौखलाए हुए हैं? क्यों इस तरह की हरकतें कर रहे हैं? दरअसल गुरपतवंत सिंह पन्नू ने अमृतपाल सिंह के जरिए भारत में खालिस्तान के नारे को हवा देने की कोशिश की थी लेकिन अमृतपाल सिंह और सारे साथी पकड़े गए. अब विदेश में बैठे खालिस्तानी आतंकवादी भी मारे जा रहे हैं. पिछले छह महीनों में कनाडा, ब्रिटेन और पाकिस्तान में बड़े बड़े खालिस्तानी आतंकवादी मारे जा चुके हैं. इससे खालिस्तानी आंदोलन को हवा देने की कोशिश कर रहे आतंकवादी बौखलाए हुए हैं. 20 जून को कनाडा के Surrey शहर में खालिस्तान टाइगर फ़ोर्स के चीफ हरदीप सिंह निज्जर को गोली मार दी गई थी. जून में ही खालिस्तान लिबरेशन फ़ोर्स के आतंकवादी अवतार सिंह खांडा की, ब्रिटेन के बर्मिंघम शहर में मौत हो गई थी. अवतार सिंह खांडा, अमृतपाल सिंह का हैंडलर था. उसी ने अमृतपाल को 37 दिन तक पुलिस से बचने में मदद की थी. अवतार सिंह खांडा को कैंसर था लेकिन खालिस्तानी आतंकवादियों को शक है कि उसे अस्पताल में ज़हर देकर मारा गया. मई में खालिस्तान कमांडो फ़ोर्स के आतंकवादी परमजीत सिंह पंजवड़ की हत्या कर दी गई थी. परमजीत सिंह पंजवड़ को लाहौर में दो बाइक सवारों ने उस वक़्त गोली मार दी थी, जब वो मॉर्निंग वॉक के लिए अपने घर से निकला था. इसी साल जनवरी में एक और खालिस्तानी आतंकवादी हरमीत सिंह उर्फ़ हैप्पी पीएचडी की हत्या हो गई थी. उसको भी लाहौर के पास एक गुरुद्वारे में गोली मारी गई थी. हरमीत सिंह खालिस्तानी आतंकवादियों को ट्रेनिंग देता था और ड्रग्स की तस्करी कराता था. पंजाब में संघ के नेताओं की हत्या में भी उसका हाथ रहा था. चूंकि बड़े बड़े खालिस्तानी आतंकवादी मारे जा रहे हैं, इसलिए खालिस्तानियों में दहशत है क्योंकि उन्हें लगता है कि खालिस्तानियों की हत्या के पीछे भारत सरकार का हाथ है. इसीलिए अपने सपोर्टर्स को एकजुट रखने, उन्हें हौसला देने के लिए कनाडा और अमेरिका में भारतीय हाई कमीशन को धमकी दी गई. इन देशों में रहने वाले कई सिख व्द्वानों और सिख समाज के लोगों से मेरी बात हुई. उनका कहना है कि इन हमलों का, इन खालिस्तानियों का सिख समाज से कोई लेना देना नहीं है. ऑस्ट्रेलिया, अमेरिका, कनाडा, इंग्लैंड में रहने वाले ज्यादातर सिख अमनपसंद हैं, भारत को प्यार करते हैं.. मुट्ठीभर लोग पूरे सिख समाज को बदनाम करने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं, लेकिन उन्हें कामयाब नहीं होने दिया जाएगा. इन मुल्कों में रहने वाले सिख समाज की शिकायत है कि वहां की सरकारों ने अपराधियों की शिनाख्त करने में, उनके खिलाफ एक्शन लेने में देरी की, इसी वजह से इन आंतकवादियों की हिम्मत बढ़ती गई. किसी मुल्क में वोटों की कम्पल्शन सामने आई, तो कहीं लापरवाही दिखाई दी. अब भारत सरकार ने कड़ा रुख अपनाया है, इसका असर जल्दी दिखाई देगा. भारत के लिहाज से एक पॉजीटिव बात ये है कि पिछले कुछ दिनों से खालिस्तानी संगठन आपस में एक दूसरे से टकराने लगे हैं. ये लोग अपना अपना वर्चस्व स्थापित करने के लिए एक दूसरे पर हमले कर रहे हैं. इससे ये लोग कमजोर हुए हैं. इनके कमजोर होने से सबसे ज्यादा परेशानी पाकिस्तान में बैठे इन ग्रुप्स के हैंडलर्स को है. जिन्होंने कई बरस तक इन खालिस्तानी आतंकवादियों को तैयार किया. इसलिए अब पाकिस्तान की आईएसआई के एजेंट ये फैला रहे हैं कि खालिस्तानियों की हत्या में इंडियन एजेंसीज का हाथ है, लेकिन पूरी दुनिया जानती है कि इन खालिस्तानी आतंकवादियों को पाकिस्तान ने हमेशा समर्थन और संरक्षण दिया है.

In the midst of both rival camps of NCP holding parallel meetings in Mumbai to showcase their numbers (with the Ajit Pawar camp cornering most of the MLAs), I want to share two inside information about the developments that led to the revolt. Two months ago, Ajit Pawar had told his uncle that most of the party legislators wanted to join the BJP-Shiv Sena government. Sharad Pawar said, he knew most of his MLAs want so, but he had some personal reservations about BJP and Narendra Modi. After several meetings, it was decided, Sharad Pawar will resign as party president, Supriya Sule will be made party chief and NCP will join both the governments in Maharashtra and Centre. Ajit Pawar will become deputy chief minister, and Supriya Sule will become a Union Minister. Ajit Pawar will manage state politics. The deal was finalized. Accordingly, Sharad Pawar resigned from party president post. Two days later, Pawar made a U-turn, and took back his resignation. Ajit Pawar was shocked. He spoke to Praful Patel. Both decided that they would not tolerate this vacillating policy of their supreme leader anymore. Both of them spoke to five or six other senior leaders and top MLAs. It was finally decided that NCP would join the government, whether Shard Pawar agreed or not. This was conveyed to Home Minister Amit Shah. On his part, Amit Shah checked whether Ajit Pawar really had the support of 40 MLAs or not. Once it was confirmed, the political game was played out on last Sunday morning. I have also learnt that earlier too, a similar political game was planned, when MLAs supporting Eknath Shinde were assembling in Guwahati in twos and fours. Ajit Pawar spoke to his MLAs. There were 51 MLAs who were ready to join the BJP camp. Ajit Pawar told his uncle that NCP should join BJP camp even before Eknath Shinde brings all his MLAs. This would give the Pawar family an edge. Sharad Pawar agreed and asked him to initiate talks. At that time too, Praful Patel spoke to Amit Shah. Devendra Fadnavis was ready to accommodate NCP. As the talks reached a conclusion, Sharad Pawar suddenly backed out. Time and again, Ajit Pawar told his uncle that he had changed his stand thrice, and this has caused harm to the party. The party has now gone several steps back. There was a feeling among NCP leaders that Pawar wanted to become the leader of a united opposition because of his personal aversion to Narendra Modi and that he wanted to harm Modi and his party at all costs. To emerge as a leader of the opposition would require control over his own party NCP. This was the reason why Sharad Pawar, despite the opinion of his own senior party leaders, MLAs and former ministers, was unwilling to cede control over the party. When matters come to a head, Ajit Pawar clearly told his uncle that he had completed his innings, that he failed in forming an NCP government on his own, and that too, at a time when new emerging leaders like Arvind Kejriwal had formed governments in two states. The nephew clearly told his uncle: you have lost the ability to play the game anymore, please allow us to play the game. Sharad Pawar was told that he was now 83 years old, he was suffering from poor health and he should take rest. But Sharad Pawar is unwilling to call it a day and take rest. After Ajit Pawar led the revolt, the patriarch has now decided to go to the people and visit every nook and corner of Maharashtra, because he prefers to be in touch with the public. However, Praful Patel and Ajit Patel know each move that Sharad Pawar is going to make, and will surely work out how to counter them. The coming months in Maharashtra are going to witness a furious political war, the likes of which have not been seen in the past.

KHALISTANIS AT WAR

Khalistan supporters carried out an arson attack and partially damaged the Indian consulate in San Francisco early Sunday and posted the video on social media, claiming that this was in retaliation over the recent murder of wanted Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. The US State Department condemned the attack, while Canada assured India that it will assure safety for Indian diplomats. Khalistani supporters had circulated posters in Canada, naming Indian diplomats as responsible for Nijjar’s killing. India has requested Candaa, US and Australia “not to give space to these elements”. Khalistan supporters have planned to take out a “Khalistan Freedom Rally” in front of the Indian High Commission in Ottawa on July 8. India has summoned the Canadian High Commissioner and requested his government to take timely action. The question is why Khalistani radicals hiding in Canada and other countries have suddenly become active? Khalistan activist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu had tried to fan radicalism in Punjab by sending Amritpal Singh, but he and his associates were nabbed and lodged in Dibrugarh jail of Assam. Several Khalistani activists have been killed in the last six months. Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot on June 20 in Surrey, Canada. He was the head of Khalistan Tiger Force. Earlier, Avtar Singh Khanda of Khalistan Liberation France died in Birmingham, UK. He was the handler of Amritpal Singh and had provided him protection for 37 days when Amritpal was hiding from police. Khalistani activists suspect Khanda was poisoned, though he was a cancer patient. On May 6, Paramjit Singh Panjwar of Khalistan Commando Force was shot by two assailants on a bike in Lahore. In January this year, Khalistani activist Harmit Singh Happy was shot near a gurudwara in Lahore. Harmit Singh was involved in narcotics trade and was imparting training to terrorists. I spoke to several Sikh scholars and senior leaders of Sikh community living in Canada and UK. They told me that the anti-India attacks have nothing to do with Sikh community, which is a peace-loving one in Australia, US, UK and Canada. Sikhs love India and a handful of them are trying to defame the entire community. Such elements will not be allowed to succeed in their nefarious designs. Some of the Sikh leaders complained that the governments of those countries delayed in identifying the perpetrators. This could be due to compulsion of votes or sheer negligence. Indian government has now taken a firm stand and has conveyed to the governments of these countries in clear terms. One positive aspect of these developments is that Khalistani outfits have now started fighting among themselves and are carrying out attacks to assert their supremacy. These outfits have now become weak and their handlers sitting in Pakistan are worried. The ISI handlers in Pakistan had trained these separatists for the last several years. ISI agents are spreading this disinformation that Indian agencies have a hand behind the elimination of Khalistani terrorists. Such allegations does not hold water anymore. It is because of these intra-rivalry that Khalistani elements are living in fear and they are trying to hold rallies to boost the morale of their supporters.

महाराष्ट्र में पिछले रविवार से जो कुछ नाटकीय घटनाक्रम हुआ, उसे बारे में महाराष्ट्र नवनिर्मांण सेना के अध्यक्ष राज ठाकरे का एक कथन उद्धृत करना चाहता हूं. राज ठाकरे ने कहा – “शरद पवार कहते हैं कि उनको इन बातों के बारे में कुछ भी पता नहीं था. ऐसा हो नहीं सकता. ये सब पवार का ही पॉलिटिकल ड्रामा है. दिलीप वल्से पाटिल, प्रफुल्ल पटेल और छगन भुजबल जैसे बड़े नेताओं का वहां जाना कोई सामान्य बात नहीं है. आज समझ में ही नहीं आ रहा है कि राज्य में कौन किसका दुश्मन है. कल को अगर पवार साहब की बेटी सुप्रिया सुले को केंद्र में कैबिनेट मंत्री बनाया जाता है, तो मुझे आश्चर्य नहीं होगा”. राज ठाकरे ने जो कहा उस पर बहुत सारे लोग यक़ीन करेंगे. अजित पवार ने नीचे से ज़मीन खिसका दी, लेकिन चाचा ने भतीजे के ख़िलाफ़ एक लफ़्ज़ नहीं कहा. ये समस्य़ा इस बात की नहीं है कि प्रफुल्ल पटेल ने और अजित पवार ने क्या किया, क्या नहीं किया, उनकी आलोचना करना बहुत आसान है. आप कह सकते हैं कि जिस शरद पवार ने इन्हें बनाया, उनके साथ इन्होंने धोखा किया, पर सवाल ये है कि इन्होंने ये सब सीखा कहां से? इनके गुरू कौन हैं ? मैंने वो वक्त देखा है जब शरद पवार ने पैंतासील साल पहले, जुलाई 1978 में वसंत दादा पाटिल की सरकार गिराई थी. वसंत दादा शरद पवार के गुरू, मेंटोर, पैट्रॉन सब कुछ थे. वसंतदादा पाटिल मुख्यमंत्री थे. यशवंत राव चव्हाण ने कांग्रेस से अलग होकर कांग्रेस-यू बनाई थी. शरद पवार कांग्रेस-यू में थे. विधानसभा चुनाव में सबसे ज्यादा सीटें जनता पार्टी ने जीती थीं, लेकिन जनता पार्टी को सरकार से दूर रखने के लिए कांग्रेस और कांग्रेस-यू ने हाथ मिलाया. शरद पवार मंत्री थे. फिर शरद पवार ने वही किया जो आज अजीत पवार ने किया है. कुछ ही महीनों के बाद शरद पवार ने कांग्रेस-यू के विधायकों को साथ लेकर बगावत कर दी. सरकार से अलग हो गए. जनता पार्टी से हाथ मिलाया और 38 साल की उम्र में महाराष्ट्र के सबसे कम उम्र के चीफ मिनिस्टर बन गए. शरद पवार राजनीति में रोटी पलटने के मास्टर रहे हैं और ऐसा लग रहा है कि अजीत पवार ने उनसे ये कला अच्छी तरह सीख ली है. मुझे दो साल पहले वाले वो दिन भी याद हैं जब शरद पवार ने ही अजित पवार को बीजेपी से हाथ मिलाने की अनुमति दी थी और फिर शरद पवार ऐन मौके पर पीछे हट गए तो अजित दादा क्या करते? अजित पवार कैसे भूल सकते हैं कि शरद पवार ने उद्धव को बीजेपी को धोखा देने के लिए उकसाया था? खुद रिमोट कंट्रोल से सरकार चलाएंगे, ये सोचकर उद्धव से हाथ मिलाया था. इसी से सीखकर एकनाथ शिन्दे ने उद्धव को धोखा दे दिया. तो महाराष्ट्र की राजनीति में धोखा देना, सरकार गिराना, पार्टी तोड़ना, अपने मेंटर की पीठ में छुरा घोंपना कोई नई बात नहीं है. सबके घर शीशे के बने हैं और सबके हाथ में पत्थर है, लेकिन इसके पीछे क्या है, ये भी समझने की कोशिश करनी चाहिए. सच तो ये है कि शरद पवार अपने बाद अपनी पार्टी, अपनी बेटी को सौंपना चाहते हैं. तो फिर बगावत होना लाज़मी था. अगर लालू तेजस्वी को बनाएंगे, सोनिया राहुल को बनाएंगी, उद्धव ठाकरे आदित्य को पार्टी सौंपने की तैयारी करेंगे तो पार्टी के दूसरे नेताओं को लगेगा कि उनके रास्ते बंद हैं. तो बग़ावत तो होगी ही. दूसरी बड़ी समस्या ये है कि चाहे शरद पवार हों, लालू यादव हों, सोनिया हों, उद्धव हों, सब चाहते हैं कि जैसी इज़्ज़त पार्टी में उनको मिली, पार्टी के नेता और कार्यकर्ता उनके बच्चों को भी वैसी ही इज्जत दें लेकिन वास्तविक जीवन में ये होता नहीं है. मैंने मुलायम सिंह यादव, शरद पवार और लालू यादव को गांव गांव घूमते देखा है. चल चल कर उनके पैर की एड़ियों में छाले पड़ जाते थे. उन्होंने जिंदगी खपा दी, पार्टी खड़ी की, कार्यकर्ताओं से रिश्ते बनाए, उनकी मदद की, सुख दुख में उनके साथ खड़े रहे लेकिन अगली पीढ़ी के लोग ये सब नहीं कर पाए. इसीलिए आप देखिए कि आज भी बगावत करने वाले प्रफुल्ल पटेल और अजित पवार, शरद पवार के बारे में पूरे मान सम्मान से बात कर रहे हैं. पवार को अपना गुरू बताया. गुरू पूर्णिमा पर उन्हें प्रणाम किया और ये कहा कि NCP को पावर में लाकर उन्होंने शरद पवार को गुरू दक्षिणा दी है. पिछले 48 घंटों में महाराष्ट्र की राजनीति में जो हुआ, उसका सबसे ज़्यादा फ़ायदा बीजेपी को हुआ है. बीजेपी ने पहले उद्धव से बदला लिया था, अब शरद पवार से भी हिसाब बराबर कर लिया. राज्य में बीजेपी की सरकार पर एकनाथ शिंदे की निर्भरता कम कर दी. बीजेपी को लगता है कि उसने 2024 के चुनाव में महाराष्ट्र की 48 में से 40-45 सीटें पाने का इंतज़ाम कर लिया और राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर विरोधी दलों की एकता पर सवाल खड़े कर दिए. दूसरी तरफ राजनीति के सबसे बड़े सूरमा को उनके भतीजे ने चित कर दिया. उनके सबसे क़रीबी, सबसे भरोसेमंद प्रफुल्ल पटेल ने पवार की बनाई पार्टी पर अपना क़ब्ज़ा घोषित कर दिया. मैं पिछले चालीस साल से पवार साब को जानता हूं. पहली बार वो इतने अकेले, इतने असहाय नज़र आए. इसके बावजूद, शरद पवार और उनकी बेटी सुप्रिया सुले ने अब तक अजित पवार पर खुलकर हमला नहीं किया है, उनके ख़िलाफ़ एक लफ़्ज़ नहीं कहा, इसलिए लोग पूछ रहे हैं – क्या अजित पवार और प्रफुल्ल पटेल को बीजेपी के पास भेजना, पवार का कोई नया गेम प्लान है ? क्या वाकई में अजित पवार ने शरद पवार को धोखा दिया? या फिर जो कुछ हुआ, उसकी स्क्रिप्ट शरद पवार ने लिखी थी? सच तो ये है कि महाराष्ट्र की राजनीति में जो कुछ हुआ उसमें सबसे बड़े loser शरद पवार रहे. जिन्हें महाराष्ट्र की राजनीति का मास्टरमाइंड माना जाता था, उन्हें पता ही नहीं चला कि कब उनके नीचे से उनकी पूरी पार्टी खिसक गई. शरद पवार ने अपनी बेटी सुप्रिया को पार्टी की कमान सौंपने का प्लान बनाया, उसे लागू भी कर दिया, जब वो सोच रहे थे कि मैंने कितना कमाल कर दिया, जब लोग कह रहे थे, वाह पवार साब… वाह, तभी अजित पवार ने दिखा दिया कि असली उत्तराधिकारी कौन है. अब 83 साल की उम्र में कई तरह की बीमारियों से जूझ रहे पवार साब को फिर से मैदान में उतरना पड़ेगा, फिर से पार्टी खड़ी करनी पड़ेगी. विचारधारा तो उसी दिन चली गई थी, जब शिवसेना के साथ मिलकर सरकार बनाई. सत्ता उस दिन चली गई, जब शिंदे ने बग़ावत की और पवार साब कुछ नहीं कर पाए. अब पार्टी का कारवां सामने से गुज़र गया, और पवार साब ग़ुबार देखते रह गए. शरद पवार को सबसे बड़ा नुक़सान ये होगा कि वो मोदी के ख़िलाफ़ मोर्चा बनाने में बड़ी भूमिका अदा कर रहे थे, अब कांग्रेस उनकी क्षमता पर सवाल उठाएगी. पवार साब की भूमिका को सीमित करने की कोशिश करेगी. कांग्रेस के नेता कहेंगे कि जब आप अपना घर नहीं इकट्ठा रख पाए, तो पार्टियों को इकट्ठा कैसे करेंगे? सबसे बड़ी बात ये है कि पवार साब का इतना नुक़सान हुआ, इसके बाद भी लोग कह रहे हैं कि जो कुछ हुआ वो सब शरद पवार के गेम प्लान का हिस्सा है, थोड़े दिन बाद वो भी बीजेपी के साथ आ जाएंगे. ये सवाल तो सबके मन में है कि क्या अजित पवार और प्रफुल्ल पटेल शरद पवार को धोखा दे सकते हैं? मैं इन दोनों नेताओं को करीब से जानता हूं, मुझे भी इस बात पर शक है कि ये दोनों शरद पवार की मंजूरी के बग़ैर कुछ कर सकते हैं. राजनीतिक गलियारों में जो लोग सक्रिय रहते हैं, उन्हें मालूम है कि अजित पवार और प्रफुल्ल पटेल पहले से बीजेपी के साथ जाने के पक्ष में थे. उन्होंने शरद पवार से ये बात कही थी और शरद पवार ने उन्हें मंजूरी दी थी. ये बात शरद पवार ने सार्वजनिक तौर पर मानी भी थी कि जो नेता बीजेपी के साथ जाना चाहते हैं., उनसे उन्होंने कहा है कि वो जो चाहें करें, लेकिन वो फिलहाल बीजेपी के साथ नहीं जाएंगे. यानि शरद पवार ने उन्हें इशारा दे दिया था. इसके बाद पवार ने इस्तीफा दिया. उस वक्त तय ये हुआ था कि अजित पवार को NCP की कमान सौंपी जाएगी, शरद पवार सिर्फ मार्गदर्शक की भूमिका में रहेंगे, सुप्रिया सुले केन्द्र की राजनीति करेंगी और अजित पवार महाराष्ट्र में सक्रिय रहेंगे, लेकिन ऐन मौके पर शरद पवार पलट गए. उन्होंने इस्तीफा वापस ले लिया, इसके बाद बेटी सुप्रिया सुले और प्रफुल्ल पटेल को कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष बना दिया. इस बात से अजित पवार नाराज थे क्योंकि उनके साथ धोखा हो गया था. अब अजित पवार ने फिर रोटी पलट दी और इस बार तवा ही उल्टा कर दिया, इसलिए इतनी हायतौबा मची है. मुंबई से लेकर दिल्ली तक पार्टी पर कब्जे की जोर आइजमाइश चल रही है. NCP में इतना कुछ होने के बाद भी शरद पवार बिल्कुल कूल दिख रहे हैं. पवार ने कह दिया कि वो कोर्ट कचहरी के चक्कर में नहीं पड़ेंगे. वो जनता की अदालत में जाएंगे और दिखाएंगे कि जनता किसके साथ है.

In the midst of melodrama that is going on in Sharad Pawar’s NCP, I would like to draw your attention to what Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray, said on Tuesday. He said, “Sharad Pawar says, he did not know his leaders were going to quit. This cannot be so. It is all Pawar’s political drama. Top leaders like Dilip Valse Patil, Praful Patel and Chhagan Bhujbal joining the other camp is not an ordinary matter. Today nobody knows who is the rival of whom in Maharashtra. I will not be surprised, If tomorrow Pawar Saheb’s daughter Supriya Sule is made a central minister.” Many in Maharashtra may believe what Raj Thackeray says. The fact is, Ajit Pawar made the ground slip from under his uncle’s feet, and yet the uncle is still to utter a word about his rebel nephew. It is very easy to criticize Praful Patel and Ajit Pawar. You can say, Sharad Pawar made both of them what they are today. The two of them betrayed their mentor. But the question is, from whom did they learn all this? I have seen those days when Sharad Pawar toppled his mentor Vasantdada Patil’s government, 35 years ago, in July, 1978 and himself became chief minister. Vasantdada was Sharad Pawar’s guru, mentor and patron, all rolled into one. Vasantdada Patil was the CM, and Yashwantrao Chavan had formed Congress(U) after walking out from Congress(I). Sharad Pawar was in Congress(U). Janata Party became the single largest party in Maharashtra assembly polls, but in order to keep Janata Party away from power, Congress(I) and Congress(U) joined hands. Sharad Pawar was a minister in the coalition government. Sharad Pawar then did, what Ajit Pawar did on Sunday. Within a few months, Sharad Pawar revolted with the help of Congress(U) MLAs, joined hands with Janata Party, and at the age of 38, became India’s youngest chief minister. Sharad Pawar has been a maestro in ‘roti palto’(flipping the roti), and it seems, Ajit Pawar has learnt this art from his uncle perfectly. I also remember how, two years ago, Sharad Pawar allowed his nephew Ajit to join hands with BJP in a midnight drama, but at the last moment, the NCP chief suddenly retraced his steps, leaving his nephew in the lurch. How can Ajit Pawar forget, it was his uncle who instigated Uddhav Thackeray to betray BJP? How can Ajit Pawar forget, his uncle had decided to run the coalition government with the remote control in his hand? Later, Eknath Shinde learnt this bag of tricks and betrayed Uddhav. In Maharashtra politics, backstabbing, betrayal, toppling governments, splitting parties are not new. Here, everybody lives in glass houses and everybody carries stones. One should understand the final motive. The fact is: Sharad Pawar wants to hand over his party to his daughter, and a revolt was bound to take place. If Lalu can make Teajshwi his heir, if Sonia Gandhi can make Rahul her heir, if Uddhav Thackeray starts handing over his party to his son Aditya, then leaders in these parties will then begin to realize that their doors for the future are closed. Revolts are bound to take place. The second big problem is: party supremos, whether Sharad Pawar or Lalu Yadav or Sonia Gandhi or Uddhav Thackeray, want that the respect and adulation that they got from their party leaders and workers, must also be bestowed on their offspring successors. But, in practical life, it is not so. I have seen Mulayam Singh Yadav, Sharad Pawar and Lalu Yadav untiringly touring villages. They used to walk for miles every day till they had foot sores. They spent their life building their parties, struck personal relationships with their workers, helped them, stood by them in times of happiness and distress, but the successors of the new generation could not do so. You may notice: even today, rebels like Praful Patel and Ajit Patel speak about Sharad Pawar with words of respect. They described Sharad Pawar as their guru, paid obeisance on Guru Purnima, and said, bringing NCP to power was their style of offering ‘guru dakshina’ to their mentor. BJP was the biggest winner and Sharad Pawar was the biggest loser in whatever happened in Maharashtra politics during the last 48 hours. By topping MVA government, BJP took its revenge against Uddhav Thackeray, and now it has repaid Sharad Pawar in the same coin. BJP’s dependence on Eknath Shinde and his MLAs is now less. BJP leadership feels that it will manage to win at least 40 to 45 out of a total of 48 LS seats in Maharashtra next year, and, on the national level, it has spoiled opposition unity efforts badly. And Pawar Saheb? He was considered the great mastermind in Maharashtra politics. He did not know that his top leadership had revolted and almost the entire party has bolted. Sharad Pawar had planned to hand over the party’s reins to his daughter Supriya Sule, and he implemented it dramatically. At a time, when Pawar was thinking about the magical drama that he had enacted and people were praising his masterstroke, Ajit Pawar showed who the real successor war. Now, at the age of 83, with Sharad Pawar battling several illnesses, he may have to toil again, do hard work on the ground, and try to resurrect his party. The ideology of his party was given the go by, the day NCP joined hands with Shiv Sena to form MVA government. Power slipped from his hands, when Eknath Shinde revolted and Pawar Saheb could not do anything. For Pawar, the Bollywood couplet- ‘Caravan Guzar Gaya, Gubar Dekhte Rahey’ appears to be apt. His biggest loss will be, he will lose the pivotal role that he planned to play in forging an anti-Modi opposition front. It is now the Congress that will question his ability and try to limit his role. Congress leaders may now say, if a leader cannot keep his house together, how can he keep a bunch of political parties together? The most amazing part is, people are still saying, Pawar is going to make a comeback, and all the developments that took place in the last two days were part of his game plan. Will Pawar also join BJP? Time will tell. I know both Ajit Pawar and Praful Patel quite closely. Even I had doubts whether both these leaders can do anything without the sanction of Sharad Pawar. Those active in the corridors of power know that Ajit Pawar and Praful Patel were in favour of joining the BJP camp since long. They had spoken to Sharad Pawar about this and the NCP chief had given them the go-ahead. Even publicly, Sharad Pawar had said that those leaders who want to leave NCP and join the BJP were free to do so, but personally, he will not join BJP camp. It means, Pawar had given them indication. He then resigned from party chief post. At that time, it was decided that the NCP command will be given to Ajit Pawar, and Sharad Pawar will play the role of ‘margdarshak’ (adviser), Supriya Sule will focus on politics at the Centre and Ajit Pawar will remain active in Maharashtra. At the last moment, Sharad Pawar changed his view. He withdrew his resignation, and made both Supriya Sule and Praful Patel working presidents. Ajit Pawar was peeved over this development. He felt betrayed. He then decided to ‘palto roti’ (flip the roti), and, in the process, he flipped the entire ‘tawa’ (griddle). This resulted in chaos in both Mumbai and Delhi, and both camps are now busy occupying party offices. Even in such a tense atmosphere, Sharad Pawar appears cool. He has said, he would not make rounds of courts, and will instead go to ‘Janata Ki Adalat’ (people’s court) and show to the world whom the man on the street wants.

इस वक्त पूरे फ्रांस में आग लगी हुई है. हजारों लोग सड़कों पर उतर आए हैं. फ्रांस के राष्ट्रपति ने एलान किया है कि अगर हालात नहीं सुधरे तो देश में इमरजेंसी लगाई जा सकती है .एक 17 साल के लड़के की पुलिस की गोली से मौत से नाराज लोग पूरे फ्रांस में सड़कों पर प्रोटेस्ट कर रहे हैं. सरकारी इमारतों, पुलिस थानों और दुकानों में तोड़फोड़ हो रही है, आग लगाई जा रही है. पेरिस में इस वक्त कर्फ्यू है. पब्लिक ट्रांसपोर्ट को बंद कर दिया गया है. इसके बाद भी हालात लगातार और खराब होते जा रहे हैं. ट्रैफिक सिग्नल पर चैकिंग के दौरान दो पुलिस वालों ने एक लड़के पर गोली चला दी थी, जिससे लड़के की मौत हो गई. जैसे ही इस घटना का वीडियो वायरल हुआ नाराज लोगों ने पुलिस के खिलाफ आवाज उठाई. फ्रांस से जो तस्वीरें आई हैं, वो हैरान करने वाली हैं. यूरोप में इस तरह के हालात पिछले कई दशकों में नहीं देखे गए. हालांकि फायरिंग करने वाले पुलिस अफसरों को गिरफ्तार करके जेल भेज दिया गया है और इस वजह से पुलिस फोर्स में भी नाराजगी है, लेकिन प्रोटेस्ट करने वाले लोगों का कहना है कि सिर्फ पुलिसवालों को जेल भेजने से काम नहीं चलेगा. उनकी शिकायत है कि फ्रांस में पुलिस वाले निरंकुश हो गए हैं. ये मामला नस्लवाद का है. लोगों का इल्जाम है कि पुलिसवालों ने जानबूझ कर एक अफ्रीकी मूल के बच्चे को मार डाला, इसलिए अब सरकार को सख्त संदेश देना होगा, साफ बात करनी होगी. चालीस हजार पुलिसवालों को हालात पर काबू करने के लिए उतारा गया है लेकिन हालात काबू में नही आए हैं. अब तक हुई हिंसा में सौ से ज्यादा लोगों के घायल होने की खबर है. करीब तीन दर्जन पुलिस वाले बुरी तरह घायल हैं. क़रीब एक हज़ार लोगों को गिरफ़्तार किया जा चुका है. पुलिस को दंगा करने वालों पर गोली चलाने का हुक्म दिया गया है. फ्रांस में इतनी भयंकर हिंसा भड़कने के कई कारण हैं. 2017 में फ़्रांस में एक क़ानून बनाया गया था. इस क़ानून से पुलिस को गोली चलाने के अधिकार में ढील दी गई थी. फ्रांस की मीडिया के मुताबिक़, ये क़ानून पास होने के बाद से फ्रांस में चलती गाड़ियों पर पुलिस के गोली चलाने की घटनाएं बढ़ गई हैं. इस क़ानून के ख़िलाफ़ भी लोगों में ग़ुस्सा है.. इसके अलावा, फ्रांस की इमैन्युअल मैक्रों सरकार के पेंशन सुधार को लेकर भी लोगों में बहुत नाराज़गी है. इसी साल अप्रैल महीने में मैक्रों सरकार ने फ्रांस में रिटायरमेंट की उम्र 62 साल से बढ़ाकर 64 साल करने का एलान किया था. इसके ख़िलाफ़ फ्रांस में कई हफ़्तों तक विरोध प्रदर्शन होते रहे थे. रिटायरमेंट की उम्र बढ़ाने से भी फ्रांस की जनता नाराज़ है. वहीं, यूक्रेन युद्ध की वजह से फ्रांस की जनता को महंगाई की मार झेलनी पड़ी थी. महंगाई की मार ने भी लोगों के ग़ुस्से को भड़का दिया. इसीलिए, जब पेरिस के उपनगरीय इलाके में पुलिस ने एक लड़के को गोली मारी तो फ्रांस की जनता का सब्र टूट गया और भयंकर हिंसा भड़क उठी. बड़ी बात ये है कि फ्रांस में जो हिंसा भड़की उसमें सोशल मीडिया का बड़ा रोल है, इसीलिए प्रेसीडेंट मेक्रों ने सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्मस को चेतावनी दी है कि वो जल्दी से जल्दी हिंसा के वीडियो हटा लें , वरना उनके खिलाफ एक्शन होगा.

ट्विटर को झटका

ट्विटर को कर्नाटक हाई कोर्ट से शुक्रवार को बड़ा झटका लगा. हाई कोर्ट ने सरकार के आदेश को चुनौती देने वाली ट्विटर की याचिका ख़ारिज कर दी और कोर्ट का वक़्त बर्बाद करने के लिए ट्विटर पर 50 लाख रुपए का जुर्माना भी लगाया. असल में सरकार ने 2021 से 2022 के बीच ट्विटर को 1474 अकाउंट्स बंद करने और 175 ट्वीट्स ब्लॉक करने का आदेश दिया था. इसके अलावा ट्विटर को 256 URL और एक हैश टैग को बंद करने का निर्देश भी दिया गया था. सरकार का कहना था कि इन एकाउंटस के जरिए माहौल को खराब करने की कोशिश हो रही है, देश की संप्रभुता और एकता को नुकसान पहुंच सकता है, इसलिए कानून के मुताबिक इन्हें हटाया जाए. लेकिन, ट्विटर ने सरकार के इस आदेश को कर्नाटक हाई कोर्ट में चुनौती दे दी. ट्विटर ने कहा कि सरकार ने जो 256 URL हटाने को कहा है उनमें से 39 को हटाना, नागरिकों के मूल अधिकारों के ख़िलाफ़ है. हाई कोर्ट ने छह महीने तक सुनवाई की. अपने फैसले में अदालत ने कहा कि अगर कोई कंपनी भारत में कारोबार करती है, तो उसको यहां के नियम क़ायदे मानने होंगे. सरकार ने कानूनी दायरे में रहकर नियमों के मुताबिक ही ट्विटर को निर्देश दिए थे और ट्विटर को सरकार के निर्देश मानने चाहिए. IT और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स राज्यमंत्री राजीव चंद्रशेखर ने कहा कि सरकार न किसी की आवाज दबाती है, न किसी पर कोई दबाव बनाती है लेकिन किसी को माहौल खराब करने की इजाज़त भी नहीं दी जा सकती. इसलिए कंपनी कितनी भी बड़ी हो, उसे जिम्मेदारी निभानी होगी, कानूनों का पालन करना होगा. आपको याद होगा कुछ दिन पहले ट्विटर के फॉर्मर CEO, जैक डोर्सी ने कहा था कि भारत सरकार ने उन पर विरोधियों के ट्विटर अकाउंट बंद करने का दबाव डाला था. इस बात को लेकर सरकार की आलोचना हुई थी, लेकिन शुक्रवार का हाई कोर्ट का फैसला उन सब लोगों को जवाब है. हाईकोर्ट ने ट्विटर को इसलिए सजा सुनाई क्योंकि उसने भारत के कानून का पालन नहीं किया, समाज में माहौल खराब करने वाले मैटेरियल को अपने प्लेटफॉर्म से नहीं हटाया. ट्विटर ने सरकार के इस ऑर्डर को चैलेंज किया था लेकिन मामला उल्टा पड़ गया. सवाल सिर्फ इस बात का नहीं है कि वो भारत से पैसा कमाते हैं इसलिए rules, regulation follow करें , सवाल इस बात का है कि उनके काम से अगर देश में अशांति फैलती है… अगर लोगों की भावनाएं भड़कती हैं तो, इसकी जिम्मेदारी भी उन्हें उठानी पड़ेगी.

मणिपुर में शुक्रवार को 4 घंटे तक मुख्यमंत्री एन. बीरेन सिंह के इस्तीफे को लेकर ड्रामा हुआ. बीरेन सिंह अपने 20 विधायकों के साथ राज्यपाल को इस्तीफा देने राज भवन की ओर गये , लेकिन रास्ते में महिलाओं की एक बड़ी भीड़ ने उन्हें रोका, और मुख्यमंत्री को अपने निवास लौटने का मजबूर किया. बाद में बीरेन सिंह ने ट्विटर पर ऐलान किया कि वो इस्तीफा नहीं देंगे. कहा कि वो इस मुश्किल वक्त में मणिपुर को नहीं छोड़ सकते. इस तरह के हालात में उनका इस्तीफा देने का कोई इरादा नहीं हैं. इसके बाद मामला शान्त हुआ. दरअसल गुरुवार की सुबह पश्चिमी इम्फाल में हथियारबंद लोगों ने तीन लोगों की हत्या कर दी जिसके बाद इम्फाल में महिलाओं की सबसे बड़ी मार्केट की तरफ से ये अलटीमेटम दिया गया कि हालात को तुरंत काबू में करें. इसके बाद बीरेन सिंह के इस्तीफे की खबरें फैलने लगीं. बीरेन सिंह पर कई दिनों से इस्तीफा देने का प्रेशर है, लेकिन सब जानते हैं कि इस्तीफा देना कोई समाधान नहीं हो सकता है. बीरेन सिंह कोई पेशेवर राजनीतिक नेता नहीं है. उन्होंने अपना करियर एक फुटबॉलर के रूप में शुरु किया था, नेशनल लेवल के प्लेयर थे, फिर वो सीमा सुरक्षा बल में रहे, BSF छोड़ कर वे पत्रकारिता में आए. एक दैनिक अखबार निकाला फिर बीरेन सिंह ने अपनी पार्टी बनाई, विधानसभा का चुनाव जीता. इसके बाद वो कांग्रेस में शामिल हो गए, कांग्रेस की सरकारों में मंत्री रहे. 2017 में कांग्रेस छोड़कर बीजेपी में शामिल हुए और मुख्यमंत्री बने. बीरेन सिंह 2017 से मुख्यमंत्री हैं, और वह मणिपुर में बीजेपी के पहले मुख्यमंत्री हैं, इसलिए उनकी जिम्मेदारी भी ज्यादा है. ये बात सही है कि मणिपुर में हालात अच्छे नहीं हैं.. वहां हजारों लोग राहत शिविरों में रह रहे हैं.. उनके घरबार जला दिए गए, संपत्ति लूट ली गई, ये दु:खद है. गृह मंत्री अमित शाह मणिपुर का दो दिन का दौरा कर चुके हैं सेना फ्लैग मार्च कर रही है. अब राहुल गांधी भी वहां गए, उन्होंने शान्ति की अपील की, कोई सियासी बात नहीं की, ये अच्छी बात है क्योंकि इस वक्त सबको मिलकर मणिपुर में अमन चैन कायम करने की कोशिश करनी चाहिए.

क्या वसुंधरा सीएम पद की उम्मीदवार बनेंगी ?

शुक्रवार को गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने राजस्थान के उदयपुर में एक बड़ी जनसभा की. ये रैली वैसे तो मोदी सरकार के 9 साल पूरे होने पर आयोजित की गई थी, लेकिन असल में बीजेपी ने इसे राजस्थान में विधानसभा चुनाव के प्रचार अभियान के तौर पर इस्तेमाल किया. उदयपुर की रैली में मंच पर पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री वसुंधरा राजे, राजस्थान बीजेपी के अध्यक्ष सीपी जोशी, विपक्ष के नेता राजेंद्र राठौड़, केंद्रीय मंत्री गजेंद्र सिंह शेखावत, सांसद दिया कुमारी और बीजेपी के पूर्व प्रदेश अध्यक्ष सतीश पूनिया समेत राजस्थान बीजेपी के सभी बड़े नेता मौजूद थे. पहले सीपी जोशी ने भाषण दिया. इसके बाद अमित शाह को आमंत्रित किया गया लेकिन अमित शाह ने कहा कि पहले वसुंधरा राजे बोलेंगी. उसके बाद वो अपनी बात कहेंगे.. वसुंधरा ने कहा कि अशोक गहलोत के राज में राजस्थान की कानून व्यवस्था बिगड़ी है, तमाम राज्यों से कट्टरपंथी आ रहे हैं और राजस्थान का माहौल खराब कर रहे हैं.. उन्होंने कन्हैयाल लाल की हत्या का उदाहरण दिया. कहा, अशोक गहलोत की तुष्टीकरण की नीति के कारण यहां आतंकवाद बढ़ रहा है, इसलिए गहलोत की विदाई जरूरी है. अमित शाह ने कहा, अगर गहलोत सरकार कन्हैया लाल को सुरक्षा देती, तो उसकी हत्या न होती. अमित शाह ने कहा, अशोक गहलोत की सरकार ने हत्यारों को गिरफ्तार नहीं किया, जब NIA ने हत्यारों को पकड़ लिया तो केस के ट्रायल के लिए अब तक राज्य सरकार ने फास्ट ट्रैक कोर्ट नहीं बनाया, इसीलिए अब तक कन्हैया लाल के हत्यारों को फांसी पर नहीं लटकाया जा सका. इसका जवाब अशोक गहलोत ने ट्विटर पर दिया, कहा, अमित शाह झूठ बोल रहे हैं, लोगों को गुमराह कर रहे हैं.. कन्हैया लाल के कातिलों को राजस्थान की पुलिस ने चार घंटे के भीतर पकड़ लिया था, लेकिन अमित शाह बताएं कि इस ओपन एंड शट केस में NIA ने चार्जशीट फाइल करने में इतनी देर क्यों की और अब तक हत्यारों को सजा क्यों नहीं मिली. गहलोत ने कहा कि कन्हैया लाल के हत्यारे बीजेपी के सक्रिय सदस्य थे. दोनों ओर से भले ही आरोप प्रत्यारोप हों, हकीकत यही है कि बीजेपी ने राजस्थान में चुनावी कैंपेन शुरू कर दिया है. प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी के राजस्थान में दो दौरे हो चुके हैं.. गुरुवार को बीजेपी अध्यक्ष जे पी नड्ढा राजस्थान में थे. गौर करने वाली बात ये है कि राजस्थान बीजेपी में पहले जो गुटबाजी दिख रही थी, मोदी के दौरे के बाद वो भले ही दिखाई न दे रही हो., भले ही वसुन्धरा राजे सक्रिय हो गई हों लेकिन सतीश पूनिया , सीपी जोशी, गजेन्द्र सिंह शेखावत और राजेन्द्र राठौर जैसे नेता अंदर ही अंदर वसुन्धरा के खिलाफ हैं. ये बीजेपी हाईकमान के लिए बड़ी समस्या है. इसी तरह की समस्या कांग्रेस में भी है.. सचिन पायलट और अशोक गहलोत के झगड़े से कांग्रेस आलाकमान परेशान है.. दिल्ली में पार्टी हाईकमान ने राजस्थान कांग्रेस के नेताओं की 3 जुलाई को मीटिंग बुलाई है, सचिन पायलट दिल्ली में कांग्रेस के नेताओं से मुलाकात कर रहे हैं., लेकिन मामला तीन जुलाई तक सुलझ पाएगा इसकी उम्मीद कम है .क्योंकि अशोक गहलोत के पैर में चोट लग गई है, .इसलिए इस बात की पूरी संभावना है कि वो तीन जुलाई की मीटिंग के लिए दिल्ली न आएं .और अगर ऐसा हुआ तो मामला फिर लटक जाएगा.

France is facing widespread turmoil since the last three days. Violent protests are taking place in Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Toulouse, Lille and Strasbourg after the killing of a 17-year-old youth of Algerian and Moroccan descent, Nahel, by French police. Nearly 45,000 police personnel have been sent to the streets to battle rioters indulging in looting and arson. The youth was shot by a French police officer at a traffic stop in the working class suburb Nanterre in Paris. Buildings, including the world famous Marseille library and vehicles have been torched and stores have been looted by mobs. In Marseille, the second largest city of France, rioters looted a gun store on Friday night and stole hunting rifles. All hotels and restaurants have been asked to close early, while bus and tram traffic across France have been closed from 9 pm onwards. There are reports that President Emmanuel Macron may be forced to declare emergency if the unrest continues. This is the first time in Europe when public unrest has been seen on this massive scale in the last several decades. The police officer who shot the teenager has been sent to jail, resulting in discontent among police personnel. Shoot-at-sight orders against rioters have been issued. There are several reasons behind this violent unrest. In 2017, the French government enacted a law which relaxed rules for policemen shooting at civilians. After this law was passed, there was a spurt in number of incidents in which policemen fired at running vehicles. Secondly, there is widespread discontent among the working class over pension reforms introduced by Macron’s government. In April this year, Macron government raised the retirement age limit from 62 years to 64 years. This resulted in protests in several cities. Thirdly, the French people is groaning under the weight of price rise of essential commodities caused by the ongoing Ukraine war. People lost patience when the killing of the teenager took place. One point to note is that social media played a key role in fomenting public unrest. President Macron has warned social media platforms to immediately remove videos of violence and not to upload videos showing violence in future. Stern action will be taken against social media companies if they disobey the order.

SETBACK FOR TWITTER

In a setback for American social media company Twitter Inc, the Karnataka High Court on Friday dismissed its petition challenging a series of blocking orders issued by the Centre from February 2, 2021 till February 28, 2022. Justice Krishna S. Dixit imposed an exemplary cost of Rs 50 lakh on Twitter for indulging in “speculative litigation”. The amount is payable to Karnataka State Legal Services Authority within 45 days, failing which Twitter will have to pay an additional Rs 5,000 per day. In its petition, the microblogging site had alleged that the blocking orders were “arbitrary” as they failed to provide notice to the content originator in advance. The petitioner had claimed that the Centre’s orders were “unconstitutional” as they did not fulfill the requirements under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act. In his judgement, Justice Dixit said, “the petitioner (Twitter) is not a poor farmer, a menial labourer, a villager of a novice who could have pleaded inability to understand the objectionability of the tweets”. The High Court said, “….their highly objectionable tweets had a great propensity to incite anti-national feelings.” Justice Dixit said, “there is a wilful non-compliance with the blocking orders.” The Centre had asked Twitter in 2021-22 to close 1,474 accounts and block 175 objectionable tweets, apart from blocking 256 URLs and one hashtag. The Centre’s argument was that an effort was made to spoil the atmosphere through these accounts and these tweets could harm sovereignty and national unity. Twitter said, removing 39 out of the 256 URLs would go against the fundamental rights of citizens. After hearing all sides, the High Court in its verdict said, any company doing business in India must follow the rules and laws of this country. IT and Electronics Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar said, social media companies and internet giants must follow the law of the land in India instead of indulging in non-compliance. You may remember, Jack Dorsey, former CEO of Twitter had alleged a few days ago that there was pressure from the Indian government to close Twitter accounts of political rivals. Questions were raised after Dorsey’s remark, and the government was criticized. Friday’s High Court judgement is a perfect reply to all those who had questioned the intent of the government. The implication of this verdict is that companies working in India must follow laws and rules of the country. The question is not that they must follow Indian laws because they earn from India, but because they must understand the fact that objectionable tweets incite ill-will and cause disturbance in the country. These companies will have to bear the responsibility.

WHY BIREN SINGH DECIDED NOT TO QUIT?

There was big drama for nearly six hours on Friday when Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh headed to Raj Bhawan with his 20 MLAs to submit his resignation letter to Governor Anusuiya Uikey, but a huge crowd of women supporters stood in the way of the convoy. After persistent requests from elderly Manipuri women, Biren Singh drove back to his residence, where the crowd stayed put. After some time, Biren Singh tweeted: “At this crucial juncture, I wish to clarify that I will not be resigning from the post of chief minister.” The immediate provocation for the CM to resign was an ultimatum given by “mothers” of Imphal’s all-women market asking him to end the unrest immediately and stop further killings. This ultimatum was given after three persons were killed by armed attackers near Imphal West border. There was pressure on Biren Singh to resign since several days, but everybody knows, resigning is not the solution. Biren Singh is not a professional politician. He started his career as a footballer, became a national level player, joined Border Security Force, left and entered journalism, started a daily newspaper, formed his own political party, won assembly election, then joined the Congress to be come a minister, quit Congress in 2017 to join BJP, and has been the first BJP chief minister of Manipur since then. Hence, his responsibility to restore peace is greater. It is true, the situation in Manipur has not improved. Thousands of homeless people are still living in relief camps as their homes have been burnt and their properties have been looted. Home Minister Amit Shah visited the state for two days recently. Army is conducting flag marches. Rahul Gandhi has gone to Manipur and appealed for peace. He did not make any political remark. This is a welcome step. The first priority is to restore peace in the state.

WILL VASUNDHARA BE THE CM FACE IN RAJASTHAN?

On Friday, in Udaipur, Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a big public meeting to mark completion of 9 years of Modi government. It was, in fact, a launch of BJP’s campaign in Rajasthan where assembly election will take this year-end. On the dais sat former CM Vasundhara Raje, state BJP chief C P Joshi, BJP leader of opposition Rajendra Rathore, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, MP Diya Kumari and former state party chief Satish Punia. First, C P Joshi spoke and then Amit Shah was invited to take the rostrum. Instead, Amit Shah said, Vasundhara Raje will speak first. In her speech, Vasundhara alleged there has been deterioration in law and order due to chief minister Ashok Gehlot’s Muslim appeasement policy. She cited the daylight brutal murder of Kanhaiyalal in Udaipur by two jihadis. Amit Shah said, Kanhaiyalal’s murder could have been prevented had the state government provided him security. He also alleged that state police did not arrest the killers, and it was the NIA which arrested them. He also alleged that the Gehlot government is yet to set up a fast track court for trial of these killers. Ashok Gehlot responded on Twitter saying Amit Shah was telling lies and misleading people. He claimed it was Rajasthan police which apprehended the killers within four hours. He asked Amit Shah why NIA has not yet filed chargesheet in this open-and-shut case. Gehlot pointed out that the killers of Kanhaiyalal were at one time active members of BJP. Polemics apart, the fact remains that BJP is already on election mode in Rajasthan. PM Narendra Modi visited Rajasthan twice, BJP chief J P Nadda visited Rajasthan on Thursday. Though factionalism in Rajasthan BJP has been absent after Modi’s visit, and Vasundhara Raje has again become active, several state leaders like Satish Punia, C P Joshi, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Rajendra Rathore are reportedly working against Vasundhara. This has become a big problem for BJP high command. In the Congress too, the high command is worried over constant bickerings between Sachin Pilot’s and Gehlot’s camps. A meeting of Rajasthan Congress leaders has been called in Delhi on July 3, but the possibility of a ceasefire between the two camps appears to be negligible. Ashok Gehlot is recovering from leg injury and there are chances that he may not attend the July 3 meeting.
