Let me begin the New Year by extending my best wishes to all of you. The year that has gone by, was one that frightened each and every one of us. We could not visit our near and dear ones, could not hug them, could not shake hands with them nor could we invite acquaintances to our homes. I spent nine months either at my home or in India TV studio. I avoided meeting people and communicated with all, either through phone or video calls. For the last 280 days I had been going to India TV Broadcast Centre, but did not meet anybody physically, face to face.
It has never been in my nature to communicate with others through phone or video only. I always preferred meeting people daily, looking into their eyes, while speaking to them like close friends. Meeting people, standing with them in times of joy and sorrow used to give me energy and strength. I learned a lot from such meetings, but in 2020, all of us were helpless.

When the Covid pandemic broke, actor Salman Khan told me “jo dar gaya, woh bach gaya” (only those who fear, will survive). Everybody across the world lived in a state of fear. People could not attend weddings, nor could attend the funerals of their near and dear ones. The very nature of living and dying underwent a fundamental change. In the New Year, let all of us pray, we will get rid of this state of fear and the restrictions that have been placed on us. Let’s hope we can again hold each other’s hands and hug them to give them strength, and heartily laugh with those who love to celebrate life.

Let me usher in the New Year with the good news that India will start a dry run for Covid vaccination from January 2. There is hope that vaccination will begin in India from the second week of this month. The government panel will review the two main vaccines Oxford-AstraZeneca and Biotech, while Pfizer will make their presentation. All the three have sought emergency approvals from the government to start vaccination. The first shot that will be given will be of an indigenous vaccine. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the first vaccine that will be given will be the one that has been made in India and preparations are being made on a war footing to vaccinate people across India within the shortest time span.

We must not be in a tearing hurry to get the vaccine, until and unless they pass all tests. As of now, the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covishield vaccine manufactured with the help of Serum Institute of India will be the one that may be given first in India. More than 5 crore doses of this vaccine are ready in Pune. Every hour five lakh doses are being prepared and by the end of the month, 10 lakh doses per hour will be prepared.
Once vaccination starts, it does not mean that the pandemic will end soon. Everybody will have to be on guard against the virus that is mutating into new strains. On Thursday, Prime Minister Modi said, the slogan in 2020 was ‘jab tak dawai nahin, tab tak dhilai nahin’ (no laxity till the vaccine arrives), but now our slogan should be “dawai bhi, dawai ke saath kadaai bhi” (let’s have the vaccine, but continue to be strict).

India, over the years, had been carrying out the world’s largest vaccination campaign. More than two-thirds of the world’s vaccines are made in India. Once the vaccines are ready, India will launch the world’s biggest Covid vaccination programme. The Modi government intends to vaccinate all the 130 crore plus Indians, out of which plans are being rolled out to vaccinate 50 crore people in the first stage itself. By July, Serum Institute of India expects to prepare nearly 30 crore doses ready. That is why, the Prime Minister said on Thursday that India will be the nerve center for the worldwide vaccination programme. Even after supplying vaccines to the entire world, no country can claim to fight the pandemic alone. For the entire world to remain healthy, all countries must join hands to give the pandemic a collective fight, Modi said.

The credit goes to Modi, who assessed the dangers of the pandemic on time, and decided to impose a nationwide lockdown to stem the spread of the deadly virus. This decision was a bitter medicine for all, but ensuring that 133 crore Indians remain indoors, was not an easy task. He took the help of all state governments in ensuring that the lockdown was in place. He ensured that there was uninterrupted supply of food and essential commodities. He also ensured that no Indian should face hunger. He also motivated more than a billion Indians how to stay safe inside their homes. For ten months, he addressed the nation ten times. This is the hallmark of an astute and capable leader.
The outcome is there for all to see. The pandemic is, more or less, under control in India. Covid cases fell to a six-month low of 8.2 lakhs in December alone. December recorded the fewest number of deaths (11,400) since May (4,267). The highest death toll (33,000) was in September. December was also the third consecutive month of fall in cases and fatalities. At this moment, there is need for cautious optimism, even as countries like the USA and UK are struggling to cope with the pandemic.

Most of the developed nations are looking towards India to gauge how our government is dealing with the pandemic. They were initially sceptical, but are now openly praising Modi government for the manner in which he handled the nationwide lockdown. Countries like the USA, UK, France and Germany were lax while enforcing lockdown, and they are now facing a second wave of pandemic. These developed economies have huge resources, but because of mistakes, they are now facing fresh problems. That is why, on Thursday, Modi said, we in India must not commit the mistakes done by others, we must learn from past mistakes and must not relent in enforcing safety precautions.

Carrying out a gigantic vaccination programme throughout India is not an easy task. Thousands of cold storages have been set up in states to ensure that the entire population of 133 crore Indians get the vaccine. Millions of trained health workers and crores of syringes will be deployed to vaccinate people. Since Narendra Modi had made preparations well in advance, we are now in the stage of giving final touches to that plan. Even though the formal approval was given, 83 crore syringes had been ordered by the government. Several companies are manufacturing one lakh syringes per hour. 59,000 trainers are imparting training to millions of health workers how to vaccinate. In every district and taluka, in government primary health centres and district and sub-divisional hospitals, trainers are teaching health workers about following the Covid vaccination protocol. Even after such massive preparations, only 25 crore Indians will be vaccinated by July this year.

Until and unless the last Indian is vaccinated, the threat of the virus will remain. We must comply with the guidelines for wearing masks, frequent washing of hands and maintaining two-yard social distancing.
We must remain careful not to fall prey to baseless rumours being circulated by vested interests. Two weeks ago, in my prime time show ‘Aaj Ki Baat’, we showed how ten Muslim outfits in Mumbai decided to consult experts whether the Covid vaccine contained animal extract made from pork, which is considered un-Islamic? The Prime Minister, on Thursday referred to baseless rumours being spread by various people about the vaccine. He pleaded with people not to forward such baseless messages on social media, and following the government guidelines on Covid vaccination.
Imagine, on one hand, the government has to protect people by vaccinating them, and on the other hand, it has to protect people from baseless rumours about the vaccine. Rumour mongers will come in the form of specialists, experts, clerics and scholars. They will act as if they are speaking the truth, as if they are your well-wishers. The Raza Academy from Mumbai wrote a letter to World Health Organization seeking information about use of animal extract in Covid vaccines, but it is yet to get any reply from the WHO. Maulana Khalilur Rehman of Raza Academy on Thursday said he was waiting for the WHO’s reply. “We are against Covid vaccines, but till the time we do not get reply from WHO, Muslims will avoid taking the vaccine”, he said.

This is one insidious manner in which questions are being raised about the vaccine. He should take a leaf from Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind leader Maulana Mehmood Madni, who said, the question is not whether any medicine is ‘halaal’ or ‘haraam’. So long as the medicine can save lives, there is no harm in taking the medicine, he said.
Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora, a noted cleric of Darul Uloom, Deoband, said on Thursday ‘jaan hai, toh jahan hai’ (so long as you are safe and alive, the world is yours). He appealed to all Muslims not to believe in baseless rumours or speculations. “To save one’s life, everything is halaal (Islamic)”, he added.

The rumours emanated when Indonesia imported 12 lakh Chinese Sinopharm Covid vaccine, but it was later found that it contained animal extract from pork. Indonesian government decided not to use the vaccine. The Saudia Arabian cleric Sheikh Assim bin Luqman al-Hakeem has clearly said that even if a vaccine contained animal extract that is ‘haraam’(un-Islamic) it must be used if it can save people’s lives.

On social media, a rumour was circulated about Microsoft founder Bill Gates saying that the side effects of Covid vaccine will register deaths of seven lakh people. The fact is: Gates had only said that the Covid vaccine may cause side effects in seven lakh people. There are also reports of international cyber crime gangs operating, trying to fleece people by asking them to share their bank details and OTPs (one time passwords) for vaccination and then cleaning off their money from their bank accounts.

The need of the hour is to remain vigilant, avoid listening to baseless rumours, and stay safe by following Covid guidelines. The New Year has dawned with a new hope. Let us all wait for the vaccine and face the deadliest attack on mankind in recent history, with courage and conviction.

केरल की राजधानी तिरुवनंतपुरम के पास हुई आत्मदाह की एक घटना को लेकर जबर्दस्त आक्रोश फैला हुआ है। तिरुवनंतपुरम के पास नेयातिनकारा इलाके के रहने वाले एक दंपति ने अपनी जमीन से बेदखली को रोकने की कोशिश में पुलिस और कोर्ट के कर्मचारियों के सामने आत्मदाह कर लिया। दंपति इस जमीन पर बनी झोपड़ी में अपने बच्चों के साथ रहता था। बुरी तरह जल चुके दंपति को सरकारी अस्पताल ले जाया गया जहां सोमवार को उनकी मौत हो गई।

घटना के बाद दंपति के 2 अनाथ बेटों ने अपने माता-पिता का अंतिम संस्कार उसी स्थान पर करने का फैसला किया, जहां उन्होंने आत्मदाह किया था। इसी बीच पुलिस भी बच्चों को यह कहते हुए अंतिम संस्कार को रोकने के लिए पहुंच गई कि वह एक विवादित जमीन है।

यह भयावह घटना इस बात की गवाही देती है कि हमारा सिस्टम किस हद तक सड़ चुका है। आमतौर पर हम इंडिया टीवी पर आत्महत्या और आत्मदाह के वीडियो दिखाने से बचते हैं, लेकिन मैंने (वीडियो के कुछ बेहद ही दर्दनाक हिस्सों को ब्लर करते हुए) इसे अपने दर्शकों को दिखाने का फैसला किया ताकि उन्हें पता चले कि किस तरह एक दंपति से उस समाज में जिंदा रहने का हक तक छीन लिया गया जहां वे कोर्ट द्वारा जमीन से बेदखली का आदेश लेकर पहुंची पुलिस की सरपरस्ती में सिस्टम की निष्ठुरता को झेल रहे थे।

इंसानियत से भरा कोई भी शख्स इस दर्दनाक वीडियो को देखकर दहल जाएगा जिसमें 2 बच्चे अपने माता-पिता को अपने शरीर पर मिट्टी का तेल डालते हुए और फिर लाइटर से आग लगाते हुए देख रहे हैं। चश्मदीदों के मुताबिक, एक ASI बच्चों के पिता से लाइटर छीनने के लिए झपटा था, लेकिन हाथापाई के दौरान पिता से लाइटर जल गया और दोनों पति-पत्नी आग के हवाले हो गए। पुलिसकर्मियों या पड़ोसियों में से किसी ने भी दंपति को आतमदार करने से रोकने की कोशिश नहीं की। दोनों बच्चे बिल्कुल स्तब्ध होकर अपने माता-पिता को चीखते हुए देख रहे थे।

दंपति के बड़े बेटे राहुल ने आरोप लगाया कि उनके माता-पिता की मौत पुलिस की वजह से हुई। राहुल ने कहा, ‘मेरे पिता कभी भी खुदकुशी नहीं करते। वह केवल पुलिस से उन्हें अपनी जमीन से बेदखल नहीं करने के लिए कह रहे थे। वे हमसे अक्सर कहा करते थे कि आत्महत्या किसी तरह का विकल्प नहीं है।’

47 वर्षीय राजन और उनकी 40 वर्षीय पत्नी अम्बिली का परिवार अपने 2 किशोर पुत्रों राहुल और रंजीत के साथ तिरुवनंतपुरम के पास स्थित नेयातिनकारा के नेट थोट्टम इलाके में एक छोटी-सी झोपड़ी में रहता था। इस इलाके में ज्यादातर अनूसूचित जाति के लोग रहा करते हैं। वसंता नाम की उनकी एक पड़ोसन ने यह दावा करते हुए पुलिस से शिकायत की कि उस जमीन पर उसका मालिकाना हक है। महिला के वकील का दावा है कि उसने 2006 में वह जमीन खरीदी थी। उसने स्थानीय मुंसिफ अदालत से जमीन से बेदखली का आदेश भी मिल गया था।

इसी साल जून में राजन के परिवार को जमीन से बेदखल करने की पहली कोशिश की गई थी। 22 दिसंबर को कोर्ट के कर्मचारियों के साथ पुलिस बेदखली आदेश पर अमल करने के लिए पहुंची थी। राजन ने पुलिस को बताया कि उसने जमीन से बेदखली के आदेश पर स्टे ले लिया था। उन्होंने कुछ घंटों में स्टे ऑर्डर की कॉपी दिखाने की बात भी कही थी, लेकिन पुलिस ने उसकी बात नहीं सुनी।

जैसे ही पुलिस उनकी झोपड़ी को हटाने के लिए इसके पास पुहंची, राजन ने अपने और अपनी पत्नी अम्बिली के ऊपर मिट्टी का तेल छिड़क लिया और आत्मदाह की धमकी दी। पुलिस के मुताबिक, एएसआई द्वारा राजन के हाथ से लाइटर छीनने की कोशिश में आग गलती से जल गई।

स्थानीय मीडिया ने इस मामले को लेकर सवाल किया कि पुलिस राजन के परिवार को जमीन से बेदखल करने के लिए इतनी जल्दबाजी क्यों दिखा रही थी जबकि उसे पता था कि परिवार को स्टे ऑर्डर मिल गया है। उसने पूछा कि पुलिस ने राजन से स्टे ऑर्डर की कॉपी क्यों नहीं मांगी। मीडिया द्वारा मामले को प्रमुखता से उठाने के बाद जमीन पर अपना दावा करने वाली राजन की पड़ोसन वसंता, जो आत्मदाह की इस घटना की बड़ी वजह थी, अब पुलिस की हिरासत में है।

राजनीतिक दलों द्वारा इस मुद्दे को उठाए जाने के बाद केरल के मुख्यमंत्री पिनारयी विजयन ने ऐलान किया कि उनकी सरकार दोनों अनाथ बच्चों की ‘जिम्मेदारी’ उठाएगी और उनकी शिक्षा-दीक्षा की व्यवस्था करेगी। जब एस्बेस्टस की छत और ईंटों से बनी झोपड़ी में रहने वाला गरीब परिवार न्याय की गुहार लगा रहा था तब सरकार कहां थी? इन अनाथ बच्चों की मां अम्बिली ने सालों की मुकदमेबाजी और पुलिस के उत्पीड़न को झेलते हुए अपना मानसिक संतुलन खो दिया था।

जब पुलिसवाले जमीन से बेदखल करने के लिए पहुंचे थे तब राजन ने उनसे थोड़ा-सा वक्त देने की गुजारिश की थी ताकि वह कोर्ट का स्टे ऑर्डर दिखा सकें। लेकिन पुलिस इंस्पेक्टर अड़ गए और वह चाहते थे कि परिवार तुरंत झोपड़ी खाली कर दे। राजन अपनी पत्नी के साथ झोपड़ी के बाहर खड़े हो गए, मिट्टी का तेल छिड़का और पुलिस से कहा कि वे दोनों आत्मदाह कर लेंगे। इतना सब कुछ होने के बावजूद पुलिस पीछे नहीं हटी।

मरने से पहले राजन पुलिस और अदालत के कर्मचारियों से गुजारिश कर रहा था ‘कृपया हमें जीने दें। अगर आप हमें इस तरह से सताते रहे, तो हमारे पास मरने के अलावा और कोई चारा नहीं होगा।’ ये उनके अंतिम शब्द थे, और फिर भी पुलिस और मुंसिफ अदालत के कर्मचारियों ने उनकी नहीं सुनी। उनका बेटा वीडियो पर यह सब रिकॉर्ड कर रहा था, लेकिन जब उसने अपने माता-पिता को आग की लपटों से घिरा देखा, तो उसने अपना कैमरा रखा और उन्हें बचाने के लिए दौड़ा, लेकिन तब तक बहुत देर हो चुकी थी। दंपति के अधिकांश कपड़े पहले ही आग के हवाले हो चुके थे और उनके शरीर का एक बड़ा हिस्सा बुरी तरह जल गया था, और वे दोनों बेहोश पड़े थे।

लोगों ने उन्हें बचाने के लिए उनके ऊपर पानी डाला, लेकिन दंपति के शरीर में किसी तरह की हलचल नहीं हुई। उनके दोनों बच्चे चिल्ला रहे थे। उनके बच्चे अपने माता-पिता के बेसुध शरीर में जिंदगी के निशान खोजते हुए चिल्लाए कि पुलिस ने उनकी जान ले ली, लेकिन ज्यादातर लोग चुपचाप खड़े होकर देख रहे थे। राजन का शरीर 75 प्रतिशत जबकि अम्बिली का शरीर 60 प्रतिशत झुलस चुका था।

यह वास्तव में काफी चौंकाने वाला है कि पुलिस ने परिवार द्वारा कोर्ट से हासिल किए गए स्टे ऑर्डर की कॉपी भी देखने का इंतजार नहीं किया और उन्हें जमीन से तुरंत बेदखल करने पर जोर दिया। यह सिस्टम द्वारा गरीब और वंचित लोगों के प्रति घोर उपेक्षा को दर्शाता है। इस घटना से पुलिस को एक सबक लेना चाहिए कि भविष्य में इस तरह की स्थितियों से संवेदनशील तरीके से निपटे। किसी को बेदखली की कार्रवाई करते हुए सहानुभूति से काम लेना चाहिए। केरल सरकार को भी चाहिए कि वह दोनों अनाथ बच्चों के लिए घर और उनकी पढ़ाई-लिखाई का इंतजाम करे। हम सबको प्रार्थना और आशा करनी चाहिए कि नए साल में ऐसा जुल्म और ऐसी तकलीफ किसी को न झेलनी पड़े।

There is widespread outrage over an incident near Thiruvananthapuram, capital of Kerala, in which a middle aged couple self-immolated in front of police and court-appointed staff while attempting to stop eviction from their land on which they had built a shed for living. The couple was taken to government medical college where they succumbed to critical burns on Monday.

The two orphaned sons of the couple then decided to do the last rites of their parents on the same spot where the self-immolation took place and police stepped in to prevent them from performing final rites saying that the land was disputed.

This horrific incident is indicative of the rot that has set in our system. Normally, we, at India TV, avoid showing videos of self-immolation and suicide, but I decided to show the video (the gruesome portions of the video were glazed) to communicate to our viewers how a couple lost their right to survive in a society where they were facing the onslaught of the system, represented by police, which had come with a court eviction order.

Any person with a humane outlook will feel perturbed on watching the gruesome video of the two children watching their parents pouring kerosene on their bodies and setting fire with a lighter. According to eyewitnesses, an assistant sub inspector lunged at the father to snatch away the lighter, but in the melee, the father clicked the lighter on, resulting in self-immolation. None of the policemen or the neighbours intervened to stop the couple from setting themselves on fire. The two children stood dumbstruck watching their parents screaming.

The elder son Rahul alleged that it was the police who caused the death of his parents. “My father would never commit suicide. He was only asking the police not to evict them from their land. He would often tell us never to accept suicide as an option.”

The family of 47-year-old Rajan and his 40-year-old wife Ambili, was living with their two teenaged sons, Rahul and Renjith, in a small shed in Nett Thottam area in Neyyatinkara, near Thiruvananthapuram. People from scheduled castes mostly live in this area. Their neighbour, Vasantha, a lady, claimed that she owned the piece of land and complained to police. Her advocate claims she bought the land in 2006. She obtained an eviction order from the local munsif court. This year, in June, the first attempt was made to evict Rajan’s family. On December 22, police came along with court-appointed staff to execute the eviction order. Rajan told police that he had obtained a stay on eviction. He promised to show the copy of stay order after a few hours, but the police team was unrelenting.

As the police team approached their shed to dismantle it, Rajan poured petrol on himself and his wife Ambili and threatened to self-immolate. Police says, the fire was accidentally lit when an ASI tried to snatch the lighter from Rajan’s hand.

Local media has questioned why the police was in a hurry to evict the family even as they knew that the family had got a stay order. They are asking why the police did not ask for the copy of the stay order obtained by Rajan. After media outcry, the litigant neighbour Vasantha, who was the main reason for this act of self-immolation, is now in police custody.

After political parties raised this issue, Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that his government would “protect” the two orphans and take care of their education. Where was the government when the poor family living in a shed made of asbestos roof and bricks, was crying for justice? The orphans’ mother Ambili had lost her mental senses after years of litigation and police harassment.

At the time of eviction, Rajan was pleading with policemen to give him at least some time so that he could show the copy of the court stay order. The police inspector was adamant and wanted the family to vacate the hut immediately. Rajan stood outside the shed with his wife, poured kerosene and told the police that both of them would self-immolate. Even then the policemen did not yield.

Before he died, Rajan was pleading with police and court-appointed staff “Please allow us to live. If you torment us like this, we will have no other option but to die.” These were his last words, and yet the police and munsif court staff did not listen. Their son was recording all this on video, but when he saw his parents on fire, he left his camera and rushed to save them, but by that time, it was too late. Most of their clothes were already burnt, and a major portion of their bodies had suffered critical burns. Both the parents were lying unconscious.

People poured water to save them but both the bodies were, by that time, lifeless. The two children were screaming. They tried to find signs of life in the bodies of their parents, they screamed that the police had killed them, but most of the people stood watching silently. Rajan had suffered 75 per cent burns while Ambili had suffered 60 per cent burns.

It is really shocking that police did not even wait to see the copy of the stay order obtained by the family and insisted on immediate eviction. It shows the utter disregard that the system has for the poor and underprivileged people. This incident should act as a lesson for police – to deal with similar situations in future in a sensitive manner. Police must show sympathy when they go for eviction. The Kerala government must ensure housing and proper education for the two orphans. Let us pray and hope that in the new year, we may not see such horrific incidents.

मंगलवार की रात मेरे प्राइम टाइम शो ‘आज की बात’ में पंजाब के दूर दराज़ गांवों के किसानों ने खुलासा किया कि कैसे वामपंथी कार्यकर्ता बीते कुछ महीनों में गांव-गांव गए और किसानों को दिल्ली जाकर नए कृषि कानूनों को रद्द करने की मांग उठाने के लिए लामबंद किया। हमारे रिपोर्टर्स ने संगरूर के एक किसान विजेन्द्र सिंह से बात की। विजेन्द्र सिंह ने खुलासा किया कि कैसे वामपंथी उनके गांव में आए और सिखी का वास्ता देकर, गुरु गोविंद सिंह जी का नाम लेकर किसानों को उकसाने की कोशिश की।

विजेन्द्र सिंह ने बताया कि कैसे वामपंथी कार्यकर्ताओं ने बुजुर्ग सिख किसानों की तस्वीरों को लेकर ग्रामीणों में यह अफवाह फैलाई कि वे दिल्ली में किसान आंदोलन के दौरान शहीद हो गए हैं, जबकि उनकी मौत प्राकृतिक कारणों से हुई थी। विजेन्द्र ने ये भी बताया कि जो ग्रामीण इस तरह के फर्जी प्रॉपेगैंडा का विरोध करते हैं, उन्हें कौम का दुश्मन बताकर उनके सामाजिक बहिष्कार की अपील की जाती है।

पंजाब के कई ऐसे किसानों ने मुझे वीडियो भेजे हैं, जो यह बताना चाहते थे कि किसानों के आंदोलन के नाम पर वामपंथी कार्यकर्ताओं द्वारा गांवों में किस तरह से फर्जी प्रचार किय़ा जा रहा है। इन ग्रामीणों ने बताया कि किस तरह से उन्हें ‘सिखी’ का वास्ता दिया जाता है। कैसे इन किसानों को बताया गया कि गुरू गोविन्द सिंह जी महाराज ने मुगल शासकों से जमीन छीन कर हमारे पुरखों को दी, और अब मोदी सरकार पुरखों की जमीन छीन कर कॉर्पोरेट्स को देने की कोशिश कर रही है। किसानों से कहा गया कि अगर वे अभी सड़कों पर नहीं उतरे तो अपने खेत से हाथ धो बैठेंगे और सड़क पर आ जाएंगे। ग्रामीणों ने मुझे बताया कि वामपंथी दलों के लोग पिछले 5 महीनों से इस आंदोलन की हवा बना रहे थे, और किसानों को आंदोलन के लिए लामबंद कर रहे थे। इन वामपंथियों के खौफ और प्रतिशोध के डर से ज्यादातर ग्रामीण अपने नाम का खुलासा तक करने को तैयार नहीं थे।

विजेन्द्र सिंह ने संक्षेप में बताया कि क्यों पंजाब के किसान दिल्ली के धरने में शामिल हुए। उसने कहा कि लेफ्ट कार्यकर्ताओं ने एक बेहद ही आसान फॉर्मूले का इस्तेमाल किया, उन्होंने नए कृषि कानूनों को सिख किसानों की ‘इज्जत’ से जोड़ दिया। इसके बाद ज्यादातर किसान उनके बहकावे में आ गए और दिल्ली की तरफ कूच कर गए।
मैं आपको विजेन्द्र सिंह के बारे में कुछ जानकारी देता हूं। विजेन्द्र सिंह संगरूरर के रहने वाले हैं, और वे 2 भाई हैं। संगरूर में दोनों के पास 15 किले (लगभग 15 एकड़) जमीन है। इसी जमीन पर वे खेती करते हैं और इसके साथ पशुपालन का काम भी करते हैं। विजेंद्र सिंह ने खुलासा किया कि किस तरह लेफ्ट के नेता गांव-गांव घूमे और नए कृषि कानूनों के बारे में झूठी बातें फैलाईं। उन्होंने यह कहकर किसानों को भड़काने की कोशिश की कि MSP को खत्म कर दिया जाएगा। जब इससे भी बात नहीं बनी तो उन्होंने किसानों को ‘सिखी’ का वास्ता दिया। लेफ्ट पार्टियों के नेताओं ने आंदोलन शुरू करने के लिए किसानों से चंदे के तौर पर दो-दो सौ रुपये प्रति एकड़ की दर से पैसे भी इकट्ठा किए।

विजेन्द्र सिंह खुद एक छोटे से किसान हैं, पर उन्हें पता था कि वामपंथी नेताओं का मंसूबा क्या है । आंदोलन के दौरान दिल्ली में एक बुजुर्ग किसान की नैचरल डेथ हुई, और उन्हें तस्वीर में ‘शहीद’ बताकर सोशल मीडिया पर फैलाया गया। विजेन्द्र सिंह ने खुलासा किया कि पंजाब के आढ़तिये (बिचौलिये) खुलकर दिल्ली के धरना प्रदर्शन के लिए फंडिंग कर रहे हैं। आढ़तिये किसानों की फसल खरीदते हैं और उनको सरकार से जो कमीशन मिलता है, वह करीब 4000 करोड़ रुपये सालाना है। विजेंद्र सिंह ने कहा कि इसीलिए आढ़तिये चाहते हैं कि नए कानून निरस्त हो जाएं और यही वजह है कि वे आंदोलन के लिए सारे इंतजाम कर रहे हैं।

विजेंद्र ने खुलासा किया कि कैसे पंजाब के स्थानीय नेताओं ने किसानों को दिल्ली सीमा तक पहुंचाने के लिए गाड़ियां मुहैया करवाई । उन्होने किसानों से कहा कि जिन जगहों पर धरना होगा, वहां अच्छे टॉइलट, टैंट , अच्छे बिस्तर, फ्री खाना, जरूरी सामान और यहां तक कि वूफर वाले म्यूजिक का भी इंतज़ाम है। किसानों से कहा गया कि पुलिस भी उन पर लाठियां चलाने की हिम्मत नहीं करेगी।

विजेन्द्र सिंह ने यह भी खुलासा किया कि हाल ही में मोगा, पटियाला, भटिंडा, लुधियाना और अन्य शहरों में रिलायंस जिओ मोबाइल फोन टॉवरों पर हुए हमलों के पीछे लेफ्ट के ही लोगों का हाथ था । विजेंद्र का कहना था कि अगर लेफ्ट के कार्यकर्ताओं को रिलायंस जिओ से कोई दिक्कत है तो वे शांतिपूर्ण विरोध करते, स्कूली बच्चों के ऑनलाइन क्लासेज में रुकावटें क्यों पैदा की क्योंकि पंजाब के छात्र मोबाइल फोन के जरिए ऑनलाइन क्लास अटेंड करते हैं।

सवाल उठता है कि पंजाब में रिलायंस जिओ के टॉवर तोड़कर वामपंथी दल किसकी मदद कर रहे हैं, और कांग्रेस उन्हें मौन समर्थन क्यों दे रही है। गौर करने वाली बात है कि रिलायंस जियो पहली भारतीय कंपनी है जिसने अगले साल 5जी नेटवर्क लॉन्च करने का ऐलान किया है। अगर ये नेटवर्क भारत में आया तो सबसे ज्यादा नुकसान चीन की टेलिकॉम कंपनियों को होगा। ऐसे समय में जब अमेरिका और जापान जैसे देश मिलकर टेलिकॉम में चीन की ताकत को कम करने में लगे हैं, भारत में वामपंथी कार्यकर्ता जियो के सेलफोन इन्फ्रास्ट्रक्चर को नुकसान पहुंचा रहे हैं। कांग्रेस और कम्युनिस्ट पार्टियों ने स्वामी रामदेव की पतंजलि के प्रॉडक्ट्स पर भी हमला किया है। रामदेव के पतंजलि ग्रुप ने भारत में बहुराष्ट्रीय कंपनियों, विशेष रूप से चीनी कंपनियों को भारी नुकसान पहुंचाया है।

कांग्रेस और लेफ्ट पार्टियों को यह सोचना चाहिए कि जब उनके समर्थक पंजाब में किसान आंदोलन के नाम पर महीनों तक पटरियों पर बैठकर रेलों की आवाजाही को रोकते हैं तो वे किसकी मदद कर रहे होते हैं। जब हमारे बहादुर जवान पूर्वी लद्दाख में चीनी सैनिकों का सामना कर रहे हैं, उस समय इन पार्टियों के कार्यकर्ता सेना के लिए खाने-पीने का सामान, आवश्यक वस्तुए और हथियार ले जा रही मालगाड़ियों को पंजाब में क्यों रोक रहे हैं। इसके कारण हमारी सेना की सप्लाई लाइन बुरी तरह प्रभावित हुई ।

जब डोकलाम में भारत और चीन की सेनाएं आमने-सामने थीं, तब कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी दिल्ली में चीनी राजदूत से छुप कर मुलाकात कर रहे थे। जब गलवान घाटी में चीन के सैनिकों के साथ हुई झड़प में भारतीय सेना के 20 जवान शहीद हो गए, तो राहुल गांधी ने हमारी सेना की क्षमता पर सवाल उठाए । राहुल ने आरोप लगाया था कि चीन ने लद्दाख में भारत की कई हजार एकड़ जमीन पर कब्जा कर लिया है। राहुल के इस तरह के बयानों से किसकी मदद होती है, यह सोचने वाली बात है।

स्वतंत्रता संग्राम और 1962 के भारत-चीन युद्ध के दौरान हमारी वामपंथी पार्टियों की भूमिका सभी को पता है। मुझे याद है कि 2017 में जब डोकलाम में चीन से टकराव हुआ था तो सीपीआई-एम ने कहा था कि भारत ने तिब्बती धर्मगुरु दलाई लामा को जरूरत से ज्यादा महत्व देकर चीन को ‘चिढ़ाने’ का काम किया है। जब भारत और चीन की सेनाओं के बीच इस साल मई में गलवान घाटी में टकराव हुआ तो सीपीआई-एम ने इसे ‘दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण’ बताया था। सवाल यह उठता है कि ये वामपंथी दल आखिर किसकी मदद करने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं?

In my prime time show ‘Aaj Ki Baat’ on Tuesday night, farmers from remote areas revealed how Left activists in Punjab went from village to village in recent months and mobilized farmers to join the march to Delhi to demand repeal of the new farm laws. Reporters spoke to Vijender Singh, a farmer from Sangrur, who disclosed how Leftists came to his village and tried to incite farmers in the name of Sikhism and Guru Govind Singh Ji.

The farmer also narrated how Left party workers circulated pictures of elderly Sikh farmers who had died of natural death to tell villagers that they have become martyrs in the Delhi protests. Villagers who object to such fake propaganda are being singled out as ‘qaum ke dushman’ (enemies of nation) and people are being asked to socially boycott such villagers.

I have received videos from several Punjab farmers who wanted to point out how false propaganda is being made in villages by Left workers in the name of farmers’ agitation. These villagers said how they were being persuaded in the name of ‘Sikhi’ (Sikh religion). They were told how Guru Govind Singh Ji Maharaj took away land from the Mughal rulers and gave it to their ancestors and now Modi government is trying to grab their land and hand them over to corporates. They were told if they do not come out on the streets, they would lose their land and will be thrown out on the streets. The villagers told me that the Left workers have been active since the last five months, busy mobilizing farmers for their protests. Most of the villagers were afraid of Leftists and were unwilling to disclose their names in fear of retaliation.

Vijender Singh from Sangrur, summed up why the farmers joined the Delhi protests. Vijender Singh said that the Left party workers applied a simple formula: they linked the new farm laws to the ‘izzat’ (self-respect) of Sikh farmers. Most of the farmers had to fall in line.

Let me give some details about Vijender Singh. He has a brother, and both of them jointly own 15 kille (roughly acre) farm land in Sangrur. They are also into animal husbandry. Vijender Singh disclosed how Left party leaders toured villages and spread disinformation about the new farm laws. They tried to misguide farmers by saying that the MSPs would be abolished. When this argument did not hold water, they persuaded farmers in the name of ‘Sikhi’ (Sikh religion). The Left leaders collected money from farmers at the rate of Rs 200 per acre to launch the agitation.

A small farmer himself, Vijender Singh knew what the Left leaders were up to. An old farmer died of natural cases during the agitation, and his photograph was used as a ‘martyr’ and circulated on social media. Vijender Singh disclosed how ‘adhatiyas’(middlemen), who are the backbone of farm economy in Punjab, were liberally funding the Delhi protests. At stake is Rs 4,000 crore every year that the middlemen get from the government as commission for procuring foodgrains from farmers. The ‘adhatiyas’ want the new farm laws to be repealed at all cost, and that is the reason why they are openly funding the agitation, Vijender Singh said.

He revealed how local leaders in Punjab are providing transport to farmers to ferry them to the protest sites in Delhi. The farmers are being promised better facilities like toilet, camping, nice beds, free food and essential items, and even woofer music. They have been told that the police will not dare use lathis on them.

Vijender Singh also revealed that Left workers were behind the recent spate in attacks on mobile phone towers in Moga, Patiala, Bhatinda, Ludhiana and other towns. He said, if the Left workers had any problems with Reliance Jio, let them stage peaceful protests, but they should not disrupt online classes that students in Punjab are attending with the help of their cell phones.

Questions arise as to whom the Left parties are helping by disrupting Reliance Jio communication in Punjab, even as the Congress is providing them silent support. One should note, Reliance Jio is the first Indian telecom service provider company which has announced plans to launch 5G network in India next year. If Jio launches its 5G network, it will ultimately harm Chinese telecom companies. At a time when the US and Japan are joining hands to stop the onslaught of Chinese 5G telecom networks, Left workers in India are damaging Jio’s cellphone infrastructure. The Congress and the Left parties have also attacked Swami Ramdev’s Patanjali products. Ramdev’s Patanjali group has halted the march of multinational companies in India, particularly Chinese companies.

Congress and Left parties should ponder whom are they helping when their supporters, in the name of farm agitation, disrupted railway communications in Punjab by squatting on rail tracks for months. At a time when our brave jawans are facing the Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh, goods trains carrying food, essential items and armaments for the armed forces are unable to cross through Punjab because of the agitation launched by these political parties. Our army’s supply lines were badly affected.

When the Indian army faced a standoff with Chinese troops in Doklam, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was busy meeting the Chinese envoy in Delhi secretly. When Chinese troops martyred 20 jawans in Galwan valley, Rahul Gandhi raised questions about the capability of our army. He alleged that China had occupied several thousand acres of Indian territory in Ladakh. One should think whom Rahul Gandhi is helping by making such remarks.

The historical background of our Left parties during the freedom struggle and the 1962 Sino-Indian war is known to all. I remember, when the 2017 Doklam standoff took place, the CPI-M said that India has “irritated” China by giving more importance to the Tibetan spiritual guru Dalai Lama. When Indian and Chinese forces fought in Galwan valley in May this year, the CPI-M described it as “unfortunate”. The question is: whom are these Left parties trying to help?

केंद्र ने 40 किसान यूनियनों को बुधवार को बातचीत के नए दौर के लिए आमंत्रित किया है। सरकार ने कहा है कि वह सभी मुददों का तार्किक हल निकालना चाहती है जो सभी को मान्य हों। शाम होते-होते किसान नेताओं ने कहा कि उन्हें जो खत मिला है उसकी भाषा ‘अस्पष्ट’ है, क्योंकि तीनों कृषि कानूनों को रद्द करने के तौर तरीके जानने के लिए उन्होने सरकार को पत्र लिखा था।

मुझे नहीं लगता कि बुधवार की बातचीत से समाधान का की रास्ता निकलेगा क्योंकि किसान नेताओं ने पहले ही इसे फेल करने का प्लान तैयार कर लिया है। अपनी चिट्ठी में उन्होंने बातचीत के एजेंडा में साफतौर पर तीनों कानूनों को निरस्त करने की मांग की थी। साफ है कि किसान नेता संशोधनों पर बातचीत करने के लिए तैयार ही नहीं हैं और वे चाहते हैं कि तीनों कानूनों को निरस्त कर दिया जाए। सीधा सा मतलब है कि बातचीत शुरू होने से पहले ही उसे फेल कर दिया जाय।

दूसरी बात, किसान नेताओं ने अपने खत में पूछा था कि सरकार न्यूनतम समर्थन मूल्य प्रणाली लागू करने के लिए नया कानून कब बनाएगी और दिल्ली-NCR में एयर क्वॉलिटी मेंटेनेंस पर अध्यादेश कब लाएगी। यहां भी किसी तरह के बीच का रास्ता निकलने की कोई गुंजाइश नहीं है क्योंकि हर साल तय होने वाला MSP पूरी तरह एक प्रशासनिक फैसला है और पहले भी कभी इसे लकर कानून नहीं बनाया गया । केंद्र ने हालांकि वादा किया है कि वह इस बात की लिखित गारंटी देने के लिए तैयार है कि MSP सिस्टम आगे भी जारी रहेगा।

साफ है कि किसान नेताओं की सरकार को भेजी गई चिट्ठी बातचीत से रास्ता निकालने की नीयत से नहीं, बल्कि गतिरोध बनाए रखने के इरादे से लिखी गई है। अब सवाल ये है कि वे कौन लोग हैं जो चाहते हैं कि बातचीत फेल हो जाए और किसान दिल्ली के बॉर्डर्स पर अपना धरना अगले महीने भी जारी रखें?

कृषि मंत्री नरेंद्र सिंह तोमर ने सोमवार को आरोप लगाया कि मोदी-विरोधी ताकतें किसानों का इस्तेमाल कर रही है। तोमर ने कहा कि इन ताकतों ने अतीत में नागरिकता संशोधन कानून, ट्रिपल तालक उन्मूलन और धारा 370 निरस्त करने जैसे मुद्दों पर सरकार को घेरने की कोशिश की थी, लेकिन सफल नहीं हो पाए थे, और वे अब तीनों कृषि कानूनों के विरोध के नाम पर किसानों को ढाल के रूप में इस्तेमाल कर रही हैं। तोमर ने कहा कि मोदी विरोधी ताकतें किसानों के मन में भ्रम पैदा करना चाहती हैं।

तोमर की बात सही है। विपक्षी दल, खासतौर पर लेफ्ट के नेता यह बिल्कुल नहीं चाहते कि किसान आंदोलन खत्म हो। मैं एक उदाहरण देना चाहूंगा। पिछले 16 दिनों से लेफ्ट के कार्यकर्ताओं ने राजस्थान में शाहजहांपुर के पास दिल्ली-जयपुर हाईवे को बंद कर रखा है। इस हाईवे को बंद करने वाले लोग किसान नहीं हैं, बल्कि वे लाल झंडे और बैनर थामे और ‘मोदी तेरी कब्र खुदेगी’ जैसे आपत्तिजनक नारे लगाने वाले लेफ्ट पार्टियों के कार्यकर्ता हैं।

सोमवार की रात अपने प्राइम टाइम शो ‘आज की बात’ में हमने दिखाया था कि कैसे लाल झंडा थामे लेफ्ट पार्टी के कार्यकर्ता अचानक कैमरा देख कर हरे रंग की टोपियां और पगड़ी पहन लेते हैं और MSP की बातें करने लगते हैं। वे किसान नहीं हैं। वे न्यूनतम समर्थन मूल्य के बारे में कुछ भी नहीं जानते , लेकिन कैमरे पर आते ही झूठे दावे करने लगते हैं कि किस तरह उन्हें MSP पर घाटा हो रह है।

लेफ्ट के इन कार्यकर्ताओं को यही सिखाया गया है कि मोदी के खिलाफ नारे लगाओ, झूठे दावे करो, कैमरे पर किसानों के मुद्दे के बारे में बातें करो, लेकिन हकीकत में ये किसान नहीं हैं। उनका खेती-किसानी से कोई लेना-देना नहीं हैं। यह पूछे जाने पर कि राजनीतिक कार्यकर्ता होते हुए भी वे क्यों किसानों का चोला ओढ़े हुए हैं, उनका जवाब था कि हम पहले किसान हैं और फिर नेता हैं। शाहजहांपुर और आसपास के इलाकों में रहने वाले किसान इन ‘नकली’ किसानों का हाईवे पर धरना देख कर हैरान हैं।

आम लोगों का यह मानना है कि दिल्ली के सिंघू बॉर्डर और टिकरी बॉर्डर पर धरना देने वाले असली किसान हैं। लेकिन मैं उन्हें बताना चाहूंगा कि दिल्ली के बॉर्डर पर बैठे किसानों में भी बड़ी संख्या में लेफ्ट के कार्यकर्ता हैं। उनमें से ज्यादातर लोगों का खेती-किसानी से कोई नाता नहीं है। आंदोलन की स्क्रिप्ट लेफ्ट के ही लोग तैयार करते हैं। फर्क सिर्फ इतना है कि वे दिल्ली के बॉर्डर्स पर लाल झंडे का इस्तेमाल नहीं करते। ‘टुकड़े-टुकड़े’ गैंग के लोग भी किसानों के बीच घुसपैठ कर चुके हैं।

सिंघू बॉर्डर पर सोमवार को प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी का एक पुतला जलाया गया। इस बीच अचानक एक महिला ने चप्पल से पुतले को पीटना शुरू कर दिया और पीएम के बारे में अभद्र भाषा का इस्तेमाल किया। मीडिया के लोगों ने जब उससे पूछा तो उसने बताया कि उसका नाम शमीम चौधरी है और वह दिल्ली में एक प्रॉपर्टी डीलर है। उसने कहा कि वह किसानों के साथ एकजुटता दिखाने वहां आई थी। इस महिला की तरह कई प्रॉपर्टी डीलर और आढ़तिए (बिचौलिए) भी इस आंदोलन में किसान बने बैठे हैं।

मार्क्सवादी कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी के महासचिव सीताराम येचुरी ने सोमवार को कहा कि उनकी पार्टी किसानों के आंदोलन का समर्थन जरूर करती है लेकिन इसमें उनके दल का कोई नेता या कार्यकर्ता शामिल नहीं है। यह साफतौर पर गुमराह करने की कोशिश है क्योंकि उनकी पार्टी के नेता पिछले एक महीने से भी ज्यादा समय से किसानों के आंदोलन की स्क्रिप्ट लिख रहे हैं, और पार्टी सुप्रीमो कह रहे हैं कि इस आंदोलन में वह और उनका दल शामिल ही नहीं है।

सीताराम येचुरी कितना सच बोल रहे हैं, कितना झूठ, अब उस पर कुछ कहने की जरूरत नहीं है। येचुरी कह रहे हैं कि वह तो चाहते हैं कि सरकार और किसानों की बातचीत का रास्ता निकले, लेकिन ऑल इंडिया किसान सभा का नेतृत्व करने वाले उनकी खुद की पार्टी के नेता हन्नान मोल्लाह का साफ कहना है कि जब तक तीनों कानूनों को वापस नहीं ले लिया जाता तब तक आंदोलन खत्म नहीं होगा।

राष्ट्रवादी कांग्रेस पार्टी के सुप्रीमो शरद पवार सोमवार को दिल्ली आए और उन्होंने येचुरी से मुलाकात की। पवार ने यह भी कहा कि चूंकि किसानों ने खुद ही तय किया है कि वे राजनीतिक दलों को अपने आंदोलन में शामिल नहीं करेंगे, इसलिए उनकी पार्टी इस आंदोलन को बाहर से सपोर्ट तो कर रही है, लेकिन इस आंदोलन से दूर है। चाहे कांग्रेस हो, NCP हो या CPI-M हो, कोई नहीं चाहता कि बातचीत सफल हो बल्कि उनकी ख्वाहिश है कि किसानों का आंदोलन जारी रहे। बातचीत के एक बार फेल होने के बाद विरोधी दलों को मोदी को निशाना बनाने के लिए खुलकर सामने आने का मौका मिलेगा।

कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी पहले ही अपने पार्टी कार्यकर्ताओं को भौंचक छोड़कर नए साल की छुट्टी मनाने इटली चले गए हैं। तीन दिन पहले ही राहुल गांधी ने राष्ट्रपति भवन के बाहर कहा था कि किसान पीछे नहीं हटेंगे। उन्होंने ट्विटर पर लिखा कि ‘वीर तुम बढ़े चलो’ और खुद छुट्टी मनाने विदेश चले गए। सोमवार को कांग्रेस की स्थापना की 135वीं वर्षगांठ थी। इस मौके पर राहुल छुट्टी पर भारत से बाहर थे, पार्टी अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी की सेहत साथ नहीं दे रही है, इसलिए पार्टी मुख्यालय पर स्थापना दिवस कार्यक्रम में 80 साल के नेता ए. के. एंटनी ने कांग्रेस का झंडा फहराया।

अचानक विदेश यात्रा पर निकल जाना राहुल गांधी के लिए आसान हो सकता है, लेकिन उनकी पार्टी के नेताओं को अपने नेता का बचाव करने में परेशानियों का सामना करना पड़ता है। कांग्रेस के नेता इस बात से भी परेशान हैं कि राहुल गांधी ने दो करोड़ किसानों के दस्तख्त वाले ज्ञापन राष्ट्रपति को सौंपने का दावा किया था, लेकिन अब इस बात के सबूत सामने आ गए हैं कि इसमें बहुत सारे दस्तखत फर्जी थे। कांग्रेस के नेताओं को ही नहीं पता कि किसानों से दस्तखत कराने की ये मुहिम कब चली, ये दस्तखत कहां से आए और कितने किसानों ने दस्तखत किए? इंडिया टीवी के रिपोर्टर्स ने जब इस बारे में कांग्रेस नेताओं से बात की, तो किसी के पास दस्तखत मुहिम के बारे में कोई ठीक ठीक जानकारी नहीं थी और सबके बयान अलग-अलग थे।

विदेश जाकर छुट्टियां मनाना राहुल गांधी का निजी मामला हो सकता है, लेकिन हैरानी तब होती है जब वह विदेश से ट्वीट करके किसानों से ‘वीर तुम बढ़े चलो’ कहते हैं। एक तरफ पार्टी एक के बाद एक लगातार चुनाव हार रही है, दूसरी तरफ पार्टी को रास्ता दिखाने वाला कोई नेता नहीं है। सोनिया गांधी का स्वास्थ्य उनका साथ नहीं दे रहा और राहुल गांधी न तो खुद पार्टी की कमान संभालते हैं और न ही किसी दूसरे सक्षम नेता को कमान संभालने देते हैं। पिछले 6 सालों से उनका एक सूत्री कार्यक्रम है – नरेंद्र मोदी का विरोध करना ।

किसान भले ही दिल्ली के बॉर्डर पर शांतिपूर्ण ढंग से धरने पर बैठे हुए हैं, लेकिन कांग्रेस शासित पंजाब में मोबाइल सर्विस देने वाली एक कंपनी को निशाना बनाते हुए मनसा, मोगा, फिरोजपुर और तरनतारन जैसी जगहों पर असामाजिक तत्वों ने मोबाइल टॉवरों को नुकसान पहुंचाना शुरू कर दिया है। उन्होंने 32 मोबाइल टॉवरों का बिजली का कनेक्शन काट दिया जिसके चलते 114 अन्य टॉवरों की सेवाएं ठप हो गई। अब तक कुल 433 मोबाइल टॉवरों की मरम्मत की जा चुकी है और पिछले कुछ दिनों में कुल मिलाकर कुल 1536 टॉवरों की मरम्मत की गई । पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह ने किसानों के भेष में तोड़फोड़ करने वाले असामाजिक तत्वों की धरपकड़ के लिए पुलिस को सख्त निर्देश दिए हैं।

ये सच है कि किसानों को विरोध करने और शांतिपूर्ण आंदोलन करने का हक तो है, लेकिन किसी तरह की हिंसा को बरदाश्त नहीं किया जाएगा । अगर इसी तरह की तोड़फोड़ जारी रही तो धरने पर बैठे किसान आम जनता की हमदर्दी खो देंगे। यदि किसान रिलायंस जियो का विरोध करना चाहते हैं तो करें, लेकिन मोबाइल टॉवर्स में तोडड़फोड करना ठीक नहीं है। पंजाब के किसानों को पता होना चाहिए कि कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह ने ही रिलायंस ग्रुप को अपने राज्य में पूंजी लगाने के लिए आमंत्रित किया था और राज्य में कॉन्ट्रैक्ट फार्मिंग शुरू करवाई थी।

शरद पवार और पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह जानते हैं कि कॉन्ट्रैक्ट फार्मिंग, भंडारण पर पाबंदी खत्म करने और देश में कहीं भी अनाज और सब्जी बेचने-खरीदने का हक़ देने वाले इन कृषि कानूनों से आखिरकार किसानों को ही फायदा पहुंचेगा । पवार और मनमोहन सिंह, दोनों ने वही कानून लाने की कोशिश की थी जो मोदी ने अब लागू किए हैं, लेकिन उस वक्त उन्हें अमीर बिचौलियों की तरफ से कड़े प्रतिरोध का सामना करना पड़ा। देश के ज्यादातर किसान इन्हीं बिचौलियों पर निर्भर हैं और ये बिचौलिये ही किसान आंदोलन के पीछे हैं। ऐसे में वामपंथी दल भी अपने फायदे के लिए बिचौलियों के साथ हो गए हैं। यही वजह है कि किसी भी पार्टी की सरकार अतीत में इन बेहद जरूरी कृषि सुधारों को लाने की हिम्मत नहीं दिखा पाई।

नरेंद्र मोदी एक अलग तरह के नेता, उनमें जोखिम उठाने का जज़्बा है। मोदी के खिलाफ इस तरह का विरोध कोई पहली बार नहीं हो रहा। चाहे नोटबंदी हो, धारा 370 हो, या CAA हो, मोदी के विरोधियों ने उन्हें हर बार घेरने की कोशिश की लेकिन सफल नहीं हो पाए। अगर बाकी नेताओं से तुलना की जाए, तो नरेंद्र मोदी के पक्ष में दो बड़ी बातें है – पहली, मोदी के पास करोड़ों लोगों का जन समर्थन है और दूसरी बात, मोदी में ये हुनर है कि वह अपनी बात करोडों जनता तक पहुंचाने का माद्दा रखते हैं । इसीलिए आज भी लोगों को यकीन है कि मोदी आंदोलन कर रहे किसानों को भी समझा पाने में सफल होंगे।

मोदी पहले ही काम पर लग चुके हैं। सोमवार को उन्होंने 100वीं किसान रेल, जो कि एक रेफ्रिजरेटेड ट्रेन है, शुरू की, जो महराष्ट्र से सीधे बंगाल तक फलों और सब्जियों को ले जाएगी। महाबलेश्वर और पालघर के किसान अब स्ट्रॉबेरी उगा रहे हैं, जिसे किसान रेल से देश के अन्य राज्यों में भेजा जा रहा है।

मुझे लगता है कि पंजाब, हरियाणा और पश्चिमी उत्तर प्रदेश के जो किसान दिल्ली के बॉर्डर पर कड़ाके की ठंड में एक महीने से धरने पर बैठे हैं, उन्हें आत्मनिरीक्षण करना चाहिए और सोचना चाहिए कि क्या वे सही रास्ते पर हैं? दोहरे मापदंड अपनाने वाले राजनीतिक दल कहीं अपने निहित स्वार्थों के लिए उन्हें गुमराह तो नहीं कर रहे हैं ? किसानों को चाहिए कि वे इन कृषि कानूनों को अमल में लाने के लिए कम से कम एक साल की मोहलत दें , और अगर उन्हें इन सुधारों में खामियां नज़र ये, तो वे फिर से अपनी आवाज़ उठा सकते हैं। यदि किसान सही रास्ते पर चलेंगे तो उनकी जिंदगी हमेशा के लिए बदल जाएगी।

The Centre on Monday invited 40 farmers’ unions for fresh round of talks to be held on Wednesday, saying that the government was committed to find logical solutions to matters that could be acceptable to all. By evening, the farmer leaders said that they found the wording of the invitation “vague” because, according to them, they had asked the government to come forward with “modalities for repealing” the three farm laws.

I am very much skeptical about the outcome of these talks because the farmer leaders have already decided on a plan to sabotage the talks. In their letter they had clearly sent their agenda demanding repeal of the laws. It is clear that the farmer leaders are unwilling to discuss amendments and they want all the three laws to be repealed. This means the talks are bound to fail, even before they begin.

The second point is: the farmer leaders had, in their letter, asked when the government would come forward with a legislation to enact minimum support price system and an ordinance on air quality maintenance in the National Capital Region. Here too, there is no scope for any middle path, because MSP is a purely administrative mechanism and was never enacted in the past. The Centre had gone to the extent of promising to give a written guarantee not to do away with MSP system.

Clearly, the letter sent by the farmer leaders does not, in any way, reflect their intention to seek a solution to the present impasse. Who are those who want that the talks should fail and the farmers should continue their ‘dharna’ on the outskirts of Delhi for another month?

On Monday, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar alleged that anti-Modi forces had tried to corner the government on issues like Citizenship Amendment Act, Abolition of Triple Talaq and Abrogation of Article 370, but had failed, and they were now using the farmers as a shield in the name of opposing the three farm bills. “These anti-Modi forces want to create confusion in the minds of farmers”, Tomar said.

Tomar is right. Opposition leaders, particularly from the Left, do not want the agitation to end. For the last 16 days, Left activists have blocked the National Highway between Delhi and Jaipur at Shahjahanpur in Rajasthan. Those blocking the highway are not farmers, they are Left party workers, holding red flags and banners and chanting objectionable slogans like “Modi Teri Qabr Khudegi” (Modi, your grave will be dug).

In my prime time show ‘Aaj Ki Baat’ on Monday night, we showed visuals of Left party cadres holding red flags, but suddenly wearing green caps and ‘pagri’, speaking about MSP issue. They are not farmers. They do not know a thing about minimum support prices, but on camera, were speaking lies about how they are losing out on MSPs.

These cadres have been trained to chant anti-Modi slogans, speak on farmers’ issues before the camera, but in reality, they are not farmers. They have nothing to do with farming. When asked why as political workers they were donning robes of farmers, they replied they were farmers first, and political activists later. Even local farmers in and around Shahjahanpur are amused watching these “fake” farmers blocking the highway.

People are under the impression that those who are staging dharna at Singhu border and Tikri border on Delhi’s outskirts are real farmers. I would like to tell them that most of them are also Left Front activists. Most of them have nothing to do with farming. Their agitation is controlled by Left front organizations. The only difference is that they do not use red flags on the outskirts of Delhi. There are elements from ‘tukde-tukde’ gang who have also infiltrated the ranks of farmers.

On Monday, an effigy of Prime Minister Modi was burnt at Singhu border. Suddenly a woman started beating the effigy with sandals and shouted obscenities about the Prime Minister. Asked by mediapersons, she revealed that her name was Shamim Chaudhary and she was a property dealer in Delhi, and had come there to express solidarity with farmers. Like her, there are many property dealers, ‘adhatiyas’ (middlemen) who are part of the agitation, and they are posing as farmers.

CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said on Monday that his party extends support to the farmers, but none of their party workers are involved. This is a clear attempt to mislead, because his party leaders had been writing the script of the farmers’ agitation for more than a month, and the party supremo is distancing himself and his party from the agitation.

There is nothing more to say how much truth there is in Yechury’s remarks. He may be hoping for a peaceful solution, but his own party leader Hannan Mollah, leading the All India Kisan Sabha, is adamant that the agitation will be called off only if the three laws are repealed.

Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar came to Delhi on Monday and met Yechury. Pawar too said that his party supported the farmers’ agitation but since the farmers have themselves decided to keep political parties away from the dais, his party has decided to keep a distance from the agitation.

Whether it is the Congress, the NCP or the CPI-M, all of them do not want the talks to succeed, they want the farmers’ agitation to continue. Once the talks fail, the political parties will get a chance to come out in the open to target Modi.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has already left for a short vacation on New Year Eve to Italy leaving his party workers nonplussed. Three days ago, Rahul Gandhi had said outside Rashtrapati Bhavan that the farmers will not retrace their steps. He went on Twitter to write a song ’Veer Tum Badhe Chalo’ (Warriors, march ahead) and himself left the country for a short vacation.

On Monday, the 135th foundation anniversary of Indian National Congress, Rahul was out of India on vacation, party chief Sonia Gandhi was not keeping good health, and it fell upon the octogenarian leader A. K. Antony to hoist the Congress flag at the party headquarters.

It may be easier for Rahul Gandhi to go on sudden foreign trips, but it is left to the party leaders to defend their leader and face the flak. It has also come to light that the party’s claim of nearly 2 crore farmers signing a memorandum seeking repeal of the farm laws, submitted to the President by Rahul Gandhi, is without basis. India TV reporters spoke to Congress leaders, and they were completely in the dark about any campaign that was launched recently to seek signatures from farmers.

Enjoying holidays abroad may be Rahul Gandhi’s personal matter, but it is surprising when he tweets from abroad asking farmers “to march forward”. The party is continuously losing elections and there is no leader to show a way out. Sonia Gandhi is not in proper health and Rahul Gandhi neither shows the inclination to take up the responsibility of party chief, nor is he willing to hand over the reins to a capable leader. His single point program for the last six years has been to carry on with his anti-Modi campaign.

Farmers may be sitting on peaceful dharna on the outskirts of Delhi, but in Congress-ruled Punjab, anti-social elements have started vandalizing mobile phone towers in places like Mansa, Moga, Ferozepur and Taran Taran in order to target a particular mobile service provider. They disrupted power supply to 32 mobile towers, which, in turn, led to disconnection of services to 114 other towers. Till now, 433 mobile towers have been repaired and overall, 1536 towers have been repaired in the last few days. Punjab chief minister Capt. Amarinder Singh has asked police to take prompt action against anti-social elements masquerading as farmers.

Farmers have the right to protest and launch peaceful agitation, but any act of violence is unacceptable. They will lose the sympathy of common people if such acts of vandalism continues. If farmers want to campaign against Reliance Jio, let them do, but they cannot vandalize their mobile towers. Farmers from Punjab should know that it was Capt. Amarinder Singh who invited the Reliance group to invest in his state and had initiated contract farming.

Even Sharad Pawar and former PM Dr Manmohan Singh know that the new farm laws that provide for contract farming, abolition of stock limits and freedom of movement of foodgrains, will ultimately benefit the farmers. Both Pawar and Manmohan Singh tried to bring the same laws that Modi has enacted, but, in the past, they had to face stiff resistance from middlemen, who have vast financial resources. Most of the farmers are dependent on middlemen, and ultimately, the middlemen are calling the tune. At such times, even Leftists side with middlemen for their own advantage. No government in the past had the courage to push through these much needed agricultural reforms.

Narendra Modi is a different type of leader and he never flinches from taking risks. Whether it was demonetization, abrogation of Article 370 or Citizenship Amendment Act, he courageously took these steps. His political opponents tried their best to oppose and derail him, but did not succeed.

Compared to other political leaders in the past, Modi has two plus points that go in his favour: he has tremendous popular support and he has superb communication skills. People of India are confident that Modi will ultimately be able to convince the agitating farmers.

Modi is already on the job. On Monday, he launched the 100th Kisan Rail, a refrigerated train that carries fruits and vegetables from Mahrashtra to faraway Bengal. Farmers of Mahabaleshwar and Palghar are now growing strawberries, which are being transported by Kisan Rail to other states.

I think farmers from Punjab, Haryana and western UP, who are staging their sit-in in cold winter on the outskirts of Delhi, should introspect whether they are on the right path. They have been fooled by some political parties having vested interests and who have adopted double standards. They should at least give one year for these farm laws to be implemented, and then raise their voice, if they have grievances. Their lives will be changed forever if they follow the right path.

प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने शुक्रवार को विपक्ष पर सीधा हमला बोलते हुए आरोप लगाया कि नए कृषि कानूनों के खिलाफ आंदोलन कर रहे किसानों को राजनीतिक दलों द्वारा गुमराह किया जा रहा है। बीते एक हफ्ते में दूसरी बार किसानों को संबोधित करते हुए पीएम मोदी ने पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी पर आरोप लगाया कि उनके राज्य में 70 लाख किसानों को डायरेक्ट कैश ट्रांसफर से ‘वंचित’ रखा गया। उन्होंने लेफ्ट पार्टियों और कांग्रेस पर किसानों के मुद्दों पर दोहरे मापदंड का सहारा लेने का भी आरोप लगाया। मैंने उनका पूरा भाषण सुना तो लगा कि प्रधानमंत्री किसानों के आंदोलन का फायदा उठाने की कोशिश में जुटे राजनीतिक दलों से दुखी और नाराज हैं।

प्रधानमंत्री ने अपने भाषण में किसानों को बार-बार यह समझाने की कोशिश की कि नए कानून उनके खुद के भले के लिए लाए गए हैं और वह ऐसे किसी भी प्रावधान को संशोधित करने के लिए भी तैयार हैं जो किसानों को ठीक नहीं लग रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि उनकी सरकार अब भी किसानों के साथ बातचीत फिर से शुरू करने और उनकी मांगों पर नए सिरे से विचार करने के लिए तैयार है। साथ ही उन्होंने यह भी कहा सरकार किसानों के सामने झुकने के लिए तैयार है, लेकिन वह किसानों के बीच घुसपैठ कर चुके सियासी लोगों की बात बिल्कुल नहीं सुनेगी।

मोदी ने जोर देते हुए कहा कि जो राजनीतिक दल उन्हें चुनावों में नहीं हरा पाए, वे किसानों को आगे करके पीछे से वार कर रहे हैं, उनकी आड़ में अपना एजेंडा थोप रहे हैं और ये सहन नहीं किया जाएगा। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि लेफ्ट पार्टियां अपने झंडे को लेकर किसानों के बीच घुस गई हैं और आंदोलन की डोर पकड़ ली है। मोदी ने कहा कि ये लोग न तो किसानों को सरकार से बात करने देते हैं और न किसी भी तरह से कोई रास्ता निकलने देना चाहते हैं।

अपने प्राइम टाइम शो ‘आज की बात’ में हमने दिखाया था कि कैसे लेफ्ट के समर्थकों ने शरजील इमाम और उमर खालिद जैसे ऐंटिनेशनल और वरवरा राव जैसे माओवाद समर्थकों की रिहाई की मांग करते हुए पोस्टर और प्लेकार्ड्स लहराए थे। लेफ्ट पार्टियों द्वारा सरकार को सौंपे गए ज्ञापन में भी जेल में बंद इन लोगों की रिहाई की मांग की गई थी।

इसीलिए पीएम मोदी ने आरोप लगाया कि जिस लेफ्ट ने 30 सालों में बंगाल की अर्थव्यवस्था को बर्बाद कर दिया और तृणमूल कांग्रेस से चुनावों में मात खाई, अब भोले-भाले किसानों को गुमराह करने के लिए पंजाब पहुंच गया है। हन्नान मोल्लाह, सीताराम येचुरी और डी. राजा जैसे लेफ्ट के तमाम नेताओं को हम किसान नेताओं के बीच, किसानों के मुद्दों पर बोलते हुए लगभग हर रोज देख रहे हैं। सच्चाई यह है कि लेफ्ट फ्रंट द्वारा शासित केरल में एक भी APMC (कृषि उपज विपणन समिति) नहीं है जहां किसान अपनी उपज बेच सकें। खुद प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि जो लेफ्ट पार्टियां पश्चिम बंगाल और केरल में किसानों के हित की बात नहीं करतीं, वे पंजाब के किसानों को भड़का रही हैं। मोदी ने कहा, ‘हारे हुए, थके हुए लोग, इवेंट मैनेजमेंट के जरिए अपना चेहरा चमकाने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं।’

न तो केरल से सांसद चुने गए राहुल गांधी, और न ही वामपंथी दल सूबे में एपीएमसी की मांग कर रहे हैं, लेकिन दिल्ली में वे APMC मंडियों का रोना रो रहे हैं और कह रहे हैं कि यदि ये खत्म हो गईं तो किसान उद्योगपतियों के गुलाम हो जाएंगे। ऐसा कैसे हो सकता है कि केरल में APMC की जरूरत नहीं है, लेकिन यूपी, पंजाब और हरियाणा में यह जरूर होनी चाहिए? ऐसा दोहरा मानदण्ड क्यों है? इसका जवाब न लेफ्ट ने दिया, और न ही कांग्रेस ने।

इस बात में जरा भी शक नहीं है कि दिल्ली के बॉर्डर पर जारी किसान आंदोलन के पीछे लेफ्ट है। लगभग हर रोज हम लेफ्ट से जुड़े हन्नान मोल्लाह, अशोक ढवले (महाराष्ट्र से CPI-M के नेता), दर्शन सिंहऔर सुरजीत सिंह फूल को किसानों के मुद्दे पर बात करते हुए देखते हैं। इन्ही लोगों के हाथों में आंदोलन की कमान है। हैरानी की बात यह भी है कि बंगाल में जो लोग एक-दूसरे के खिलाफ लड़ रहे हैं, वे दिल्ली में आकर मोदी विरोध के नाम पर एक हो जाते हैं। जिस किसान आंदोलन को लेफ्ट चला रहा है, उसे पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी भी सपोर्ट कर रही हैं।

मोदी ने शुक्रवार को सीधे ममता से भी पूछ लिया कि उन्होंने पश्चिम बंगाल के 70 लाख किसानों को पीएम किसान सम्मान निधि योजना का पैसा किसानों के खाते में डालने में रुकावट क्यों पैदा की। इस योजना के तहत मोदी सरकार साल में 3 बार 2-2 हजार रुपये की रकम सीधे किसानों के बैंक खातों में ट्रांसफर करती है। प्रधानमंत्री ने शुक्रवार को देश के 9 करोड़ किसानों के बैंक खातों में 18,000 करोड़ रुपये ट्रांसफर किए, लेकिन पश्चिम बंगाल में 70 लाख किसानों को पैसा नहीं मिला क्योंकि तृणमूल सरकार ने इस योजना को लागू नहीं होने दिया। अगर ममता सरकार ने इस योजना को लागू किया होता, तो सूबे के 70 लाख किसानों के खाते में 8,500 करोड़ रुपये जा चुके होते और हर किसान को कुल 12 हजार रुपये मिल चुके होते।

तृणमूल सरकार द्वारा इस योजना को लागू न करने के पीछे एकमात्र वजह यही है कि ममता बनर्जी नहीं चाहतीं कि नरेंद्र मोदी को इसका क्रेडिट मिले। ममता बनर्जी जहां कोलकाता में बैठकर किसान आंदोलन को सपोर्ट कर रही हैं, लेफ्ट पार्टियां खुले तौर पर किसानों के आंदोलन को चला रही हैं, वहीं एक तीसरी पार्टी कांग्रेस इस आंदोलन में मोदी को घेरने का मौका देख रही है।

मोदी ने शुक्रवार को कांग्रेस पर भी निशाना साधा और कहा कि उसके नेताओं ने ऑन रिकॉर्ड APMC (मंडियों) और बिचौलियों की भूमिका को खत्म करने की मांग की है और उन्होंने कृषि क्षेत्र मल्टिनैशनल और प्राइवेट सेक्टर के इन्वेस्टमेंट का भी समर्थन किया था। लेकिन अब कांग्रेस नेताओं ने गिरगिट की तरह रंग बदल दिया है।

मोदी शुक्रवार को काफी अग्रेसिव थे और मुझे लगता है कि ये जरूरी भी था। मोदी कांग्रेस, लेफ्ट और तृणमूल कांग्रेस के दोहरे चरित्र को उजागर करना चाहते थे। कई केंद्रीय मंत्री और बीजेपी के प्रवक्ता इस बारे में पहले भी बात करते रहे हैं, लेकिन मोदी की बात का जो असर होता है, वह किसी और की बात का नहीं हो सकता। विपक्ष के नेता इस भाषण में भी कमी निकालने की कोशिश करेंगे। कोई कहेगा कि मोदी ने ये सब पहले क्यों नहीं कहा, कोई कहेगा कि उन्होंने धरना स्थलों पर किसानों के बीच जाकर क्यों नहीं बात की, तो कोई कहेगा कि मोदी विरोधियों को डराना चाहते हैं। मुझे लगता है कि ये सारी बातें बेमानी हैं।

असल में हमें इस आंदोलन में आग लगाने वालों की हरकतों पर ध्यान देना चाहिए। लेफ्ट के लोग किसान आंदोलन का सहारा लेकर कभी टुकड़े-टुकड़े गैंग को जेल से छोड़ने की मांग करते हैं, तो कभी अर्बन नैक्सलाइट्स को जेल से बाहर निकालने की मांग करते हैं। राहुल गांधी हर रोज अंबानी-अडानी का राग अलापते हैं। ममता बनर्जी के सामने पश्चिम बंगाल के चुनाव चुनौती बनकर खड़े हैं। ये सभी सियासी मुद्दे हैं, जिनका किसानों से कोई लेना-देना नहीं है, और यही मोदी के लिए विपक्ष पर हमला करने का सही समय था।

पीएम के तीखे हमले के बावजूद इस बात की उम्मीद नहीं की जानी चाहिए कि विपक्ष किसानों को भड़काना, बहकाना, डराना बंद कर देगा। हमें उनसे किसी सकारात्मक परिणाम की उम्मीद नहीं करनी चाहिए। बल्कि हमें पॉलिटिकली अनकनेक्टेड किसानों से नए कृषि कानूनों को समझने और अंतिम फैसला करने की उम्मीद करनी चाहिए। ये तीनों कानून किसानों के फायदे के लिए हैं और यदि इसमें कोई कमी है तो सरकार उसमें संशोधन करने के लिए तैयार है।

कई किसान नेताओं से बात की है। उनमें से कुछ ने कहा कि जब-जब राहुल गांधी हमारे समर्थन में बोलते हैं, हमारा आंदोलन कमजोर पड़ जाता है। उन्होंने ये भी कहा कि जब वामपंथी ’टुकड़े-टुकड़े गैंग’ और अर्बन नैक्सलाइट्स से संबंधित मुद्दे जोड़ देते हैं, तो हमारा आंदोलन बदनाम हो जाता है। किसानों को सोचना चाहिए कि जो ममता और लेफ्ट बंगाल में राजनीतिक दुश्मन है, जो लेफ्ट और कांग्रेस केरल में एक-दूसरे के कट्टर विरोधी हैं, वे तीनों किसान आंदोलन के नाम पर दिल्ली में एक हो जाते हैं। उनका एकमात्र एजेंडा मोदी को घेरना है। जब ये बात किसान भाई पूरी तरह समझ जाएंगे तो रास्ता भी निकल आएगा। हालांकि मुझे लगता है कि कुछ किसान नेताओं को धीरे-धीरे यह बात समझ में आ रही है और आज जो नरेंद्र मोदी ने कहा उससे बेहतर परिणामों की उम्मीद की जा सकती है।

In his no-holds-barred attack on the Opposition on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleged that political parties were misguiding farmers who are agitating against the new farm laws. Addressing farmers for the second time in a week, Modi accused West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee of “depriving” 70 lakh farmers of direct cash benefit in her state. He also accused the Left parties and the Congress of resorting to double standards on farmers’ issues. I went through his entire speech, and had the impression that the Prime Minister is sad and unhappy with political parties out to derive advantage from the ongoing agitation.

In his speech, the Prime Minister repeatedly tried to convince farmers that the new laws have been brought for their own benefit and he was willing to amend any provision which the farmers felt was unacceptable. He said, his government was even now ready to resume talks with farmers and consider their demands afresh. He also said, the government was willing to bend before farmers, but will not listen to political elements which have infiltrated their ranks.

Modi emphatically said that political parties which had lost the elections are now ganging up behind farmers and are trying to thrust their political agenda, and this will not be tolerated. He alleged that Left parties have infiltrated the ranks of farmers using their own flags, and they have taken virtual control of the agitation. Modi said, these Left leaders are not allowing farmers to rejoin talks and they do not want a solution.

In my prime time show ‘Aaj Ki Baat’, we had shown visuals of how Left supporters were raising posters and placards demanding release of anti-national activists like Sharjeel Imam and Umar Khalid and Maoist activists like Varvara Rao. The memorandum submitted by the Left to the government had demanded release of these leaders, who are presently in custody.

It was in this context that the Prime Minister alleged that the Left, which had made a mess of West Bengal’s economy for more than 30 years and lost the elections to Trinamool Congress, has now reached Punjab to incite the innocent farmers. Almost every day we see Left leaders like Hannan Mollah, Sitaram Yechury and D. Raja among farmer leaders, speaking on farmers’ issues. The fact is that in Left Front ruled Kerala, there is not a single APMC (agricultural produce marketing committee) where farmers can sell their produce. The Prime Minister himself said that the Left parties, which do not speak about farmers’ issues in West Bengal and Kerala, are now inciting Punjab farmers. “These defeated, tired leaders are now doing event management by clicking selfies with the farmers”, he said.

Neither Rahul Gandhi, who was elected as MP from Kerala, nor the Left parties, are demanding APMCs in that state, but in Delhi, they are crying hoarse about APMC mandis and saying that if these are abolished, farmers will become slaves of industrialists. How is it that APMCs are not required in Kerala, but are a must in UP, Punjab and Haryana? Why this double standard? Both the Congress and Left parties are silent on this issue.

There is not an iota of doubt that the Left is behind the current farmers’ agitation on the outskirts of Delhi. Almost every day, we see visuals of Hannan Mollah, Ashok Dhavale (CPI-M leader from Maharashtra), Darshan Singh and Surjit Singh Phull, all Leftist leaders speaking on farmers’ issues. They are leading the agitation. The surprising part is that the both the Left and the Trinamool Congress, which are sworn enemies in West Bengal, have joined hands in Delhi and are part of the anti-Modi camp. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is supporting the agitation of farmers being led by the Left.

On Friday, Modi directly asked Mamata why had she prevented 70 lakh farmers in West Bengal from deriving direct cash benefit under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Under this scheme, the Modi government transfers three tranches of Rs 2,000 each directly into the bank accounts of farmers every year. On Friday, the PM transferred Rs 18,000 crore into the bank accounts of 9 crore farmers across India, but 70 lakh farmers in West Bengal did not get the money, because the TMC government has decided not to implement this scheme. Had she implemented it, Rs 8,500 crore money would have gone to 70 lakh farmers in her state and each farmer would have received Rs 12,000 by now.

The only reason why TMC government rejected this scheme is because Mamata Banerjee does not want Narendra Modi to get the credit. Sitting in Kolkata, while Mamata is extending support to the farmers’ agitation in Delhi being run by the CPI-M, there is a third political party, the Congress, which wants to corner Modi taking advantage of the situation.

On Friday, Modi also lashed out at the Congress and said that their leaders were on record of having demanded abolition of APMCs (mandis) and the role of middlemen, and had supported the entry of multinational and private sector investment in the farm sector. But now, the Congress leaders have changed colour like a chameleon.

Modi sounded aggressive on Friday, and I think, this was the right time to call the spade a spade. He wanted to expose the double standards of the Congress, Left and Trinamool Congress. Several Union minister and BJP spokespersons had already spoken about this, but the Prime Minister raising such issues creates a different impact. The Opposition leaders will still try to pick holes in his speech, they may ask why Modi did not say this earlier, why didn’t he speak to farmers directly at their dharna sites, and some may allege that Modi is trying to browbeat the opposition. I think all such nit-pickings are meaningless.

We must take note of those who are stoking the fire in the guise of agitation. The Leftists want to add their own demands for release of ‘tukde-tukde’ gang leaders and urban Naxalites, Rahul Gandhi carries on with his daily diatribe against Ambani, Adani; and Mamata Banerjee has a big challenge looming in the form of assembly elections. All these are political issues, completely unconnected with farmers’ issues, and it was the right time for Modi to attack the opposition.

Despite the PM’s frontal attack, one should not assume that the opposition would lie low. We should not expect any positive outcome from them. Rather, we should expect the farmers, who are not politically connected, to realize and take a final call about the new farm laws – whether these will be beneficial for them or not. These three laws are indeed for the benefit of farmers, and if there are legal loopholes, the farmers must point them out for amendments.

I spoke to several farmer leaders. Some of them said, whenever Rahul Gandhi speaks on their issues, their agitation gets weakened. They also say that whenever the Left adds issues related to ‘tukde-tukde’ gang and urban Naxalites, their agitation gets defamed. The farmers must realize that the Left and Trinamool, which are sworn enemies in Bengal, and the Left and Congress, which are traditional political rivals in Kerala, have all joined hands in Delhi to derive political advantage from the farmers’ agitation. Their one point agenda is to corner Modi. The moment the farmers realize this, they will arrive at the truth, and a way can be found out. I think, some of the farmer leaders have already started thinking on those lines and Modi’s fresh appeal may become fruitful.

अब यह बात बिल्कुल साफ हो गई है कि कांग्रेस और लेफ्ट सहित कई राजनीतिक दल किसानों को दिल्ली के बॉर्डर पर बीते एक महीने से जारी धरने को खत्म न करने के लिए भड़का रहे हैं। वे नहीं चाहते कि किसान नेता केंद्र के साथ बातचीत करें, कोई रास्ता निकालें और अपने घर जाएं। कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी और वामपंथी किसान यूनियन के नेता हन्नान मोल्लाह के बयानों से ये बात साफ हो गई है। दोनों ने साफ-साफ कहा कि किसान तब तक अपना आंदोलन जारी रखेंगे जब तक कि तीनों नए कृषि कानूनों को वापस नहीं ले लिया जाता।

राहुल गांधी ने गुरुवार को अपनी पार्टी के 2 अन्य नेताओं, गुलाम नबी आजाद और अधीर रंजन चौधरी के साथ राष्ट्रपति से मुलाकात की और उन्हें एक ज्ञापन सौंपा, जिसमें उन्होंने तीनों कृषि कानूनों को वापस लेने की मांग रखी। ये नेता अपनी पार्टी के सांसदों के साथ विजय चौक से राष्ट्रपति भवन तक मार्च करना चाहते थे, लेकिन कोरोनो वायरस महामारी के चलते दिल्ली पुलिस ने इन्हें आगे बढ़ने से रोक दिया। राष्ट्रपति ने कांग्रेस के सिर्फ 3 नेताओं को उन्हें ज्ञापन देने की इजाजत दी। प्रियका गांधी समेत कांग्रेस के तमाम नेताओं ने बैरीकेड पार करके आगे बढ़ने की कोशिश की तो पुलिस ने उन्हें हिरासत में ले लिया। कुछ देर बाद हिरासत में लिए गए सभी नेताओं को छोड़ दिया गया।

राहुल गांधी ने राष्ट्रपति भवन के बाहर दावा किया कि उन्होंने राष्ट्रपति को जो ज्ञापन सौंपा है उस पर 2 करोड़ किसानों ने हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। ज्ञापन में पार्टी ने संसद का एक विशेष सत्र बुलाकर तीनों कृषि कानूनों को निरस्त करने की मांग की है। इसके बाद राहुल फिर से वही पुराने आरोप दोहराने लगे कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी इन कृषि कानूनों के जरिए अपने 2 या 3 ‘उद्योगपति दोस्तों’ को फायदा पहुंचाने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं, लेकिन किसान ये सब बर्दाश्त नहीं करेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि कांग्रेस आंदोलनकारी किसानों के साथ खड़ी है।

अपने प्राइम टाइम शो ‘आज की बात’ में गुरुवार की रात हमें हमने 9 साल पहले किसानों के मुद्दों पर राहुल गांधी, कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी और पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह द्वारा दिए गए 3 भाषणों की वीडियो क्लिप दिखाई थी।

16 दिसंबर, 2011 को उत्तर प्रदेश के फर्रूखाबाद में राहुल गांधी किसानों को ‘ओपेन मार्केट’ के फायदे गिना रहे थे। उस समय यूपीए की सरकार सत्ता में थी और डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह प्रधानमंत्री थे। राहुल ने जनसभा को संबोधित करते हुए कहा था, ‘आलू उगाने वाले किसानों को मुश्किलों का सामना करना पड़ रहा है। भारत में लगभग 60 प्रतिशत सब्जियाँ उचित भंडारण की कमी के कारण सड़ जाती हैं। हम रिटेल सेक्टर में FDI लाना चाहते हैं ताकि किसान अपनी उपज सीधे खरीदारों को बेच सकें, लेकिन विपक्ष ने हमें इस बिल को संसद में लाने से रोक दिया। क्यों? क्योंकि विपक्ष किसान विरोधी है।’

पिछले 6 सालों से हम राहुल गांधी को लगातार ये आरोप लगाते हुए देख रहे हैं कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी अंबानी और अडानी जैसे उद्योगपतियों के इशारे पर काम कर रहे हैं, लेकिन इसके पहले 10 साल तक रहे यूपीए शासन के दौरान क्या हुआ? उस वक्त सिर्फ राहुल गांधी ही नहीं बल्कि कांग्रेस का हर बड़ा नेता कृषि के क्षेत्र में निजी और विदेशी निवेश के पक्ष में बोल रहा था।

4 नवंबर 2012 को दिल्ली के रामलीला मैदान में कांग्रेस की एक रैली को संबोधित करते हुए तत्कालीन प्रधानमंत्री डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह ने कहा था, ‘रिटेल व्यापार में विदेशी निवेश की अनुमति देने के हमारी सरकार के फैसले पर काफी बहस हुई है। मेरा, कांग्रेस पार्टी का और हमारी सरकार का मानना है कि ये फैसला हमारे देश के हित में है, जिससे आम जनता और किसानों दोनों को फायदा होगा। आज किसानों की फसल का एक बहुत बड़ा हिस्सा बर्बाद हो जाता है। हम ट्रांसपोर्ट और स्टोरेज की सुविधाएं नहीं दे पाते हैं। रिटेल व्यापार में विदेशी निवेश से इन सुविधाओं को बेहतर बनाने में मदद मिल सकती है। हमारे किसान भाई-बहनों को उनकी फसल के बेहतर दाम मिल सकते हैं, क्योंकि वो उसे बाजारों तक पहुंचा सकेंगे। आम जनता को सब्जी और फल सस्ते दामों पर मिल पाएंगे।’

कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी ने तो कई मौकों पर बिल्कुल साफ-साफ लफ्जों में कहा था कि किसान इसलिए गरीब है क्योंकि उसे फसल के सही दाम नहीं मिलते। उन्होंने कहा था, ‘किसान इसलिए गरीब हैं क्योंकि उन्हें मंडियों का गुलाम बना दिया गया है, और उन्हों फसल की बेहतर कीमत तभी मिलेगी जब उन्हें बिचौलियों के चंगुल से मुक्त कराया जाएगा। और ऐसा तभी होगा जब किसानों को ये हक दिया जाए कि वो मंडी के बाहर जहां चाहें, जिसे चाहें और जिस रेट पर चाहें अपनी फसल बेच सकते हैं।’

3 अक्टूबर 2012 को सोनिया गांधी ने कहा था, ‘किसानों की पैदावार सस्ते से सस्ते दामों पर खरीदी जाती है और शहर में महंगे से महंगे दामों में बेची जाती है। मैं पूछना चाहती हूं कि किसानों का हक नहीं बनता है कि उनके पैदावार की सही कीमत उन्हें मिले? क्या शहर के आम इंसान का ये हक नहीं बनता है कि रोजमर्रा के जरूरत की चीजें उन्हें भी सही दाम पर मिले? यह कब संभव होगा? यह तभी संभव है कि जब किसान बिना किसी बिचौलिये के अपनी पैदावार सीधे शहर तक पहुंचा सकें।

इन बयानों को सुनते हुए किसी को भी ऐसा लग सकता है कि मोदी सरकार का कोई मंत्री कृषि कानूनों का बचाव कर रहा है। राहुल गांधी, सोनिया गांधी और मनमोहन सिंह, तीनों नेता कह रहे हैं कि किसानों को मंडी के बाहर फसल बेचने का हक मिलना चाहिए और बिचौलियों का खात्मा होना चाहिए। तीनों नेताओं ने कृषि क्षेत्र में विदेशी और निजी निवेश के समर्थन में भी बात की थी। लेकिन आज राहुल गांधी अपनी उस बात के बिल्कुल उलट बात कह रहे हैं जो उन्होंने 9 साल पहले कही थी।

राहुल गांधी के आरोपों पर पलटवार करते हुए भारतीय जनता पार्टी के नेता सुधांशु त्रिवेदी ने गुरुवार को कहा, ‘कांग्रेस को यह बताना चाहिए कि उसने 32 साल पहले पेप्सी और नेस्ले इंडिया को किसानों से सीधे फसलों की खरीद की इजाजत क्यों दी थी।’

बीजेपी की ये बात सही है कि कॉन्ट्रैक्ट फार्मिंग और प्राइवेट सेक्टर को खेती के काम में इनवॉल्व करने का काम कांग्रेस सरकार ने 32 साल पहले किया था। बीजेपी की ये बात भी सही है कि राहुल, सोनिया और डॉक्टर मनमोहन सिंह कॉन्ट्रैक्ट फार्मिंग और कृषि क्षेत्र में निजी एवं विदेशी निवेश के पक्ष में बार-बार बोला करते थे। जब वे सत्ता में थे तो उन्होंने खेती में बिचौलियों की भूमिका को खत्म करने का आह्वान किया था।

फिर यह यू-टर्न क्यों? मेरे ख्याल से राहुल गांधी को लगता है कि पिछले एक महीने से धरने पर बैठे पंजाब, हरियाणा और यूपी के किसानों को 9 साल पहले उनके और उनकी पार्टी के नेताओं द्वारा कही गई बातें याद नहीं होंगी। राहुल और उनकी पार्टी के नेता केवल किसानों और केंद्र के बीच जारी गतिरोध का सियासी फायदा उठाना चाहते हैं।

कांग्रेस और लेफ्ट का एकमात्र एजेंडा किसानों के कंधों पर बंदूक रखकर केंद्र पर निशाना साधना है। उन्हें न तो किसानों के हित से कोई मतलब है, और न ही MSP या ’मंडियों’ से। इसीलिए राहुल अपने भाषणों में अंबानी और अडानी को घुसा देते हैं, तो लेफ्ट पार्टियां देशद्रोह के आरोप में जेल में बंद शरजील इमाम और वरवरा राव की रिहाई की मांग करने लगती हैं।

जो असली किसान हैं उन्हें मेरी सलाह है कि उन्हें संतुलित दृष्टिकोण के साथ मुद्दों को समझना होगा। उन्हें ये देखना होगा कि उनके हित में क्या है। टकराव में या बातचीत में, टकराव का रास्ता छोड़कर बातचीत का रास्ता निकालने में ही सबकी भलाई है। किसानों को चाहिए कि वो किसी भी राजनीतिक दल को इस आंदोलन का फायदा ना उठाने दें, क्योंकि जब तक इन राजनीतिक दलों का स्वार्थ बना रहेगा वे इस मामले का हल नहीं निकलने देंगे।

It is now an open secret that political parties including the Congress and Left are instigating farmers not to call off their month-long dharna at Delhi borders. They do not want the farmer leaders to rejoin talks with the Centre, find and a way out and return home. This became clear from the remarks made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Left farmers’ union leader Hannan Mollah. Both of them clearly said that the farmers will continue their agitation until and unless the three new farm laws are withdrawn.

On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi along with his two leaders, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury met the President and handed him a memorandum seeking withdrawal of the farm laws. The leaders wanted to march from Vijay Chowk to Rashtrapati Bhavan with their party MPs, but were prevented by Delhi police due to Coronavirus pandemic. The President allowed only three Congress leaders to give him the memorandum. Police detained Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other Congress MPs when they tried to force their way through the barricades. They were later released.

Outside the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Rahul Gandhi said, he handed over the memorandum signed by more than two crore farmers. In the memorandum, the party demanded convening of a special session of Parliament to repeal the three farm laws. Rahul repeated his old allegations that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was trying to help two or three of his “industrialist friends” by bringing these farm laws, but the farmers would not tolerate. The Congress stands by the agitating farmers, he said.

In my prime time show ‘Aaj Ki Baat’ on Thursday night, we showed video clips of three speeches made by Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and former PM Dr Manmohan Singh on the farmers’ issues nine years ago.

On December 16, 2011 in Farrukhabad, UP, Rahul Gandhi was explaining the benefits of “open market” to farmers. At that time, Dr Manmohan Singh was the PM and the UPA government was in power. Rahul told the public meeting: “Potato growers here are facing difficulties. Nearly 60 per cent vegetables rot in India due to lack of proper storage. We want FDI in retail so that farmers can sell their produce directly to the buyers. The Opposition prevented us from bringing this bill in Parliament. The opposition is anti-farmer.”

For the last six years, we have been constantly watching Rahul Gandhi alleging that PM Modi was working at the behest of industrialists like Ambani and Adani, but what about the 10 years of UPA rule prior to that? At that time, every Congress leader, including Rahul, was speaking in favour of private and foreign investment in farming sector.

On November 4, 2012, addressing a Congress rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, the then PM Dr Manmohan Singh had said: “There has been a lot of debate on our government’s decision to allow foreign direct investment in retail sector. The Congress Party, my government and I believe that this decision is in the national interest. It will help both farmers and common people. Today, much of the vegetables produced go waste because of lack of transportation and storage facilities. Allowing FDI in retail will help overcome these problems to a large extent. Our farmer brother can get better earnings for their produce. Their crops will reach markets directly and common people can buy vegetables and fruits at cheaper rates.”

Congress President Sonia Gandhi had clearly said on several occasions that the farmers of India are poor because they do not get remunerative prices. She had said, farmers are poor because they have been made bonded slaves of ‘mandis’, and they can get better prices only if they are freed from the clutches of middlemen. This can happen only if farmers are allowed to sell their produce anywhere and at any rate throughout India, Sonia Gandhi had said at that point of time.

On October 3, 2012, Sonia Gandhi said: “Farmers’ produce are bought at cheaper rates and sold at higher prices in cities. I want to ask, should not farmers get the right to sell their crops at better rates? Should not people living in cities have the right to get essential commodities at cheaper rates? When will this happen? This will happen only when we allow farmers to sell their crops directly in cities.”

While going through these remarks, one can get the impression that these might have been made by a minister from Modi government on its new farm laws. If you go through the speeches of Rahul Gandhi, Sonia and Dr Manmohan Singh, you will find a common thread – all the three leaders had then wanted that farmers must be given the right to sell their produce anywhere in the country and the role of middlemen should be abolished. They had also spoken in support of foreign and private investment in the farm sector. But today, Rahul Gandhi is speaking the opposite of what he had said nine years ago.

On Thursday, while replying to Rahul Gandhi’s allegations, BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said, Congress must explain why it allowed Pepsi and Nestle India to procure crops directly from farmers 32 years ago.

The BJP is correct when it says that the Congress had allowed multinational companies to enter the farm sector 32 years ago. BJP leaders are correct when they say that Rahul, Sonia and Dr Manmohan Singh had been speaking in favour of contract farming and private and foreign investment in farm sector. When they were in power, they had called for abolition of the role of middlemen in farming.

Then why this U-turn? I feel, Rahul might be harbouring this impression that the farmers from Punjab, Haryana and UP, who are sitting on dharna for last one month, might have forgotten what he and his party leaders had said nine years ago. Rahul and his party leaders only want to take political advantage of the current standoff between the farmers and the Centre.

The single point agenda of the Congress and the Left is to train their guns at the Centre by using the shoulders of farmers. They have nothing to do with farmers’ interests, neither with MSPs or ‘mandis’. While Rahul injects the names of Ambani and Adani in his speeches, the Left parties try to bring in the demand for release of Sharjeel Imam and Varvara Rao, who are in custody on sedition charges.

My advice to those who are real farmers is this: they must understand the whole gamut of issues with a balanced outlook. They should understand what is in their best interest. Between the two available options of talks and confrontation, talks are the best way out. The farmers must not allow any political party to gain advantage from their agitation. The political parties will not allow their agitation to end until and unless it suits their political interests.

बुधवार को ऑल इंडिया जमीयतुल उलेमा, जमात उलेमा अहले सुन्नत, अंजुमन बरकते रज़ा, ऑल इंडिया मस्जिद काउंसिल, दारुल उलूम हनफिया रजविया और रज़ा अकादमी समेत कुल 9 मुस्लिम संगठनों के मौलानाओं ने मुंबई में बैठक की। बैठक में मौलानाओं ने फैसला किया कि वे इस बारे में एक्सपर्ट्स की राय लेंगे कि कोरोना की वैक्सीन ’हलाल’ है या ‘हराम’, क्योंकि ऐसी रिपोर्ट्स हैं कि इस वैक्सीन को बनाने में सूअर की चर्बी का इस्तेमाल किया गया है। मौलानाओं ने कहा कि इसके बाद वे तय करेंगे कि भारत के मुसलमानों को कोरोना की वैक्सीन लगवाने के लिए कहना है या नहीं।

मौलानाओं ने कहा कि इस्लाम मुसलमानों को सूअर के किसी भी हिस्से से बनी वैक्सीन का इस्तेमाल करने की इजाजत नहीं देता है। उलेमाओं ने कहा कि सूअर की चर्बी से बनी किसी भी वैक्सीन को मुसलमान नहीं लगवा सकते। उलेमा चीन की कोरोना वैक्सीन सिनोवैक को बनाने में सूअर की चर्बी का इस्तेमाल किए जाने की खबरों पर अपनी प्रतिक्रिया दे रहे थे। उन्होंने कहा कि इस तरह की वैक्सीन मुसलमानों के लिए जायज नहीं है। रजा अकादमी के सेक्रेट्री जनरल सईद नूरी ने कहा कि ऐसी खबरें सामने आई हैं जिनमें कहा गया है कि चीन की कोविड वैक्सीन में सूअर के शरीर के कुछ हिस्सों का इस्तेमाल किया गया है। उन्होंने कहा, ‘चूंकि सूअर मुस्लिमों के लिए हराम है, इसलिए उसकी चर्बी से बने टीके के इस्तेमाल की इजाजत नहीं दी जा सकती।’

नूरी ने मुंबई के काजी हजरत मुफ्ती महमूद अख्तर के एक फतवे को पढ़ा, जिसमें कहा गया था, ‘अगर किसी सूअर का बाल भी किसी कुएं में गिर जाए तो उस कुएं का पानी मुसलमानों के लिए हराम हो जाता है। इसलिए इस्लामिक लॉ के मुताबिक, एक ऐसी वैक्सीन जिसमें सूअर की चर्बी है, किसी बीमारी के इलाज के रूप में इस्तेमाल नहीं की जा सकती।’ एक वीडियो स्टेटमेंट में सईद नूरी ने भारत सरकार से चीन की कोविड वैक्सीन सिनोवैक का आयात नहीं करने की अपील की। उन्होंने कहा, ‘यदि कोई वैक्सीन भारत में मंगाई जाती है या बनाई जाती है, तो सरकार को वैक्सीन बनाने में इस्तेमाल किए जाने वाले सामान की एक लिस्ट देनी चाहिए, ताकि वे उस वैक्सीन के इस्तेमाल के बारे में लोगों को बता सकें।’

भारतीय उलेमाओं का फतवा संयुक्त अरब अमीरात (UAE) के फतवा काउंसिल के सबसे नए ‘फतवे’ के ठीक उलट है जिसमें कहा गया है कि मुसलमान कोरोना की वैक्सीन लगवा सकते हैं। यूएई फतवा काउंसिल के चेयरमैन शेख अब्दुल्ला बिन बियाह ने कहा है कि कोरोना वायरस की वैक्सीन को सूअर को लेकर इस्लामी पाबंदियों से अलग रखा जा सकता है क्योंकि पहली प्राथमिकता ‘मनुष्य का जीवन बचाना है।’ काउंसिल ने कहा कि इस मामले में पोर्क-जिलेटिन को दवा के रूप में इस्तेमाल किया जाना है न कि भोजन के तौर पर, और ये वैक्सीन बेहद ही संक्रामक एक ऐसे वायरस के खिलाफ असरदार पाई गई हैं ‘जो पूरे समाज के लिए बहुत ही बड़ा खतरा है।’

वहीं दूसरी तरफ बुधवार को मुंबई की बैठक में हिस्सा लेने वाले अधिकांश उलेमाओं के विचार ठीक इसके उलट थे। इनमें रजा अकादमी के मुफ्ती मंजर हसन अशरफी, मौलाना ऐजाज अहमद कश्मीरी, मौलाना इमरान अत्तारी, मौलाना गुलजार अहमद कादरी और मौलाना शेख नाजिम शामिल थे। इन मौलानाओं ने कहा कि पोर्क जिलेटिन से तैयार की गई वैक्सीन गैर-इस्लामी हैं और मुसलमान इनका इस्तेमाल नहीं कर सकते हैं।

दवाओं में इस्तेमाल होने वाला जिलेटिन एक कोलेजन प्रोटीन है जिसे त्वचा, नस, लिगामेंट्स और/या हड्डियों को पानी में उबालकर प्राप्त किया जाता है। जिलेटिन को आमतौर पर जानवरों से हासिल किया जाता है जिनमें सूअर भी शामिल हैं। जिलेटिन का इस्तेमाल खासतौर पर ट्रासपोर्टेशन और डिलीवरी के दौरान वैक्सीन वायरस को बहुत ज्यादा ठंड या गर्मी जैसी प्रतिकूल परिस्थितियों से बचाने के लिए किया जाता है। जेली प्रॉडक्ट्स, जेली कैंडीज, दही और बबल गम में भी जिलेटिन का इस्तेमाल किया जाता है। हालांकि कई फार्मा कंपनियां ऐसी भी हैं जो वैक्सीन के ट्रांसपोर्टेशन के लिए जिलेटिन का इस्तेमाल नहीं करती हैं।

फाइजर, मॉडर्ना और एस्ट्राजेनेका जैसी वैक्सीन बनाने वाली बड़ी कंपनियों ने इस बारे में सफाई जारी की है। इन तीनों कंपनियों ने साफ कहा है कि उन्होंने अपनी वैक्सीन में जिलेटिन का इस्तेमाल नहीं किया है, लेकिन मौलानाओं को फिलहाल यकीन नहीं है। वे कह रहे हैं कि जब तक वैक्सीन को बनाने में इस्तेमाल की गई चीजों के बारे में ठीक से जांच नहीं हो जाती, तब तक वे किसी ठोस नतीजे पर नहीं पहुंच सकते। उनका इशारा दुनिया के सबसे बड़े इस्लामिक मुल्क इंडोनेशिया की तरफ है, जिसने चीन की सिनोवैक वैक्सीन को जल्दबाजी में इंपोर्ट तो कर लिया, लेकिन उसके इस्तेमाल पर रोक लगा दी है क्योंकि उसमें ‘गैर-इस्लामिक’ पोर्क जिलेटिन का इस्तेमाल किया गया था। हालांकि एक बात मैं साफ कर दूं कि भारत ने चीन की कोरोना वैक्सीन को न तो इंपोर्ट किया है और न ही उसे इंपोर्ट करने का कोई इरादा है।

आधारहीन अफवाह फैला रहे लोगों को मैं बताना चाहता हूं कि दुबई में अधिकारियों ने कोरोना वायरस के खिलाफ बड़े पैमाने पर वैक्सीनेशन शुरू कर दिया है। फाइजर की वैक्सीन अमेरिका से ब्रसेल्स होते हुए यूएई ट्रांसपोर्ट कर दी गई है। यूएई की सरकार ने अपने सभी नागरिकों को कोरोना वायरस की वैक्सीन लगाने का फैसला किया है, और वह भी फ्री में। इस काम को अंजाम देने के लिए पूरी दुबई में जगह-जगह वैक्सीनेशन सेंटर्स खोल दिए गए हैं।

सोशल मीडिया पहले ही कोरोना की वैक्सीन के असर को लेकर सवाल उठाने वाले फर्जी वीडियो से भर गया है। रजा अकादमी के मौलाना नूरी ऐसे ही 2 वीडियो के बारे में बात कर रहे थे। इन दोनों वीडियो को हमने इंडिया टीवी पर क्रॉस चेक करने की कोशिश की। मौलाना ने कहा, इंग्लैंड में एक नर्स फाइजर वैक्सीन लगाए जाने के बाद बेहोश हो गई। हमने क्रॉस-चेक किया और पाया कि नर्स इंग्लैंड की थी ही नहीं। वह अमेरिका के टेनेसी प्रांत की थी। इस नर्स ने 17 दिसंबर को कोविड वैक्सीन ली और जब वह प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस को संबोधित करने के लिए गई, तो उसे चक्कर आया और वह नीचे गिर गई। टिफेनी डोवर नाम की यह नर्स उन 6 लोगों में से एक थी, जिन्हें उस दिन वैक्सीन की डोज दी गई थी।

कुछ लोगों ने सोशल मीडिया पर यह अफवाह फैला दी कि वैक्सीन लगने के बाद नर्स की मौत हो गई। लेकिन हकीकत यह है कि जिस अस्पताल में टिफेनी काम करती हैं, उसने मंगलवार को एक वीडियो जारी किया जिसमें उन्हें बिल्कुल फिट और काम करते हुए दिखाया गया है। टिफेनी ने कहा कि उन्हें कभी-कभार पैनिक अटैक आते हैं। उनकी मेडिकल हिस्ट्री रही है कि वह किसी भी चुभने वाली चीज को देखकर डर जाती है, कई बार बेहोश हो जाती हैं। इसलिए 17 दिसंबर को जो हुआ, वह उनके लिए बड़ी बात नहीं है। उस घटना का वैक्सीनेशन से कोई लेना-देना नहीं है।

सोशल मीडिया पर एक दूसरे वीडियो में यह दावा किया गया कि फाइजर की कोरोना वैक्सीन दिए जाने के बाद अमेरिका में 4 वॉलंटियर्स के चेहरे को लकवा मार गया। हकीकत यह है कि वीडियो बोस्टन में एक सर्जरी सेंटर की वेबसाइट से चुराया गया था। सर्जरी सेंटर ने ट्विटर पर साफ किया कि इस वीडियो का कोरोना वायरस की वैक्सीन से कोई लेना-देना नहीं है। ये फेशियल पैरालिसिस से पीड़ित मरीजों के पुराने वीडियो थे। यूएस फूड ऐंड ड्रग्स एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन ने भी साफ किया कि इस वीडियो का कोरोना वायरस की वैक्सीन के ट्रायल से कोई लेना-देना नहीं है।

मैं सभी से अपील करना चाहता हूं कि सोशल मीडिया पर सर्कुलेट होने वाले उन वीडियो पर कतई भरोसा न करें जिनमें बेतुके आरोप लगाए गए हों। धार्मिक भावनाओं को भड़काकर झूठी दहशत पैदा करने के लिए पहले से ही भारतीय मुसलमानों के बीच अफवाहें फैलाई जा रही है।

भारत के मुसलमानों को पता होना चाहिए कि यूएई फतवा काउंसिल ने वैक्सीन को दवा कहा है न कि भोजन, और लाखों लोगों की जिंदगी दांव पर है। दुबई के प्रधानमंत्री शेख मोहम्मद बिन राशिद अल मकतूम, दुबई के उपप्रधानमंत्री शेख सैफ बिन जायद अल नाहयान, मिस्र की स्वास्थ्य मंत्री हाला जाएद, इन सभी ने कोरोना वायरस की वैक्सीन लगवाई है। बहरीन की स्वास्थ्य मंत्री फायका बिन सईद अल सालेह ने भी वैक्सीन लगवाई है।

ये सभी इस्लामी दुनिया की जानी-मानी शख्सियत हैं और वे कभी भी कोई गैर-इस्लामिक काम नहीं करेंगे। वैक्सीन बनाने वाली तीनों प्रमुख फार्मा कंपनियों ने पोर्क जिलेटिन के इस्तेमाल से इनकार किया है। मुसलमानों को उनकी बातों पर भरोसा करना चाहिए और आधारहीन अफवाहों पर ध्यान नहीं देना चाहिए।

सोशल मीडिया पर चक्कर काटने वाले फर्जी वीडियो के बारे में मैं सिर्फ इतना कह सकता हूं कि ये वायरल वीडियो असली वायरस से भी ज्यादा खतरनाक हैं। फेसबुक, ट्विटर, व्हाट्सऐप और अन्य प्लेटफॉर्म पर दिखने वाले वीडियो पर आंख मूंदकर भरोसा न करें। तथ्यों की जांच करें और वैज्ञानिकों, डॉक्टरों एवं मेडिकल एक्सपर्ट्स की सलाह को ही मानें। एक बार वैक्सीन बड़े पैमाने पर लगनी शुरू हो गई तो यकीन मानिए, कोरोना वायरस के खिलाफ इस जंग में किसी भी कीमत पर हमारी ही जीत होगी।
