News about Pakistan’s spy agency ISI trying to use girls from Karachi and Rawalpindi to lay honeytraps for Indian army personnel through social media should make every Indian sit up and take notice. In my prime time show ‘Aaj Ki Baat’ on Thursday night, we showed videos and chats of how Pakistani girls sitting in Karachi, Hyderabad and Rawalpindi, are posing as Indian girls, to entice Indian army personnel to part with sensitive information about army installations, troop movements and missile launch sites.
News about this diabolical ISI plan should make every Indian army personnel and their family members alert. They should be careful about with whom they are chatting on WhatsApp, Facebook and other social media platforms. It all appears to be part of a large conspiracy of Pakistan army to use social media to ferret out secret information about our army installations and plans.
Pakistani spy agency ISI has set up dozens of call centres where Pakistani girls, posing as Indian Hindu girls, are trying to lure Indian army personnel through social media. Artificial intelligence tools and internet are being used for carrying out this dangerous game.
I have several videos and chats which show how these Pakistani girls are working for their spy agency. They create fake profiles, posing as female relatives of Indian army personnel, put bindi on their forehead and wear ‘kalava’ (sacred thread) on their wrists to pose as Hindus, and in the background, they put pictures of Gandhi or Hindu gods and goddesses to create a perfectly fake background. The female spies wear traditional dress worn by Hindu girls, so that there should not be a whiff of doubt about them being Pakistanis. Through guile, and using beauty and sexual chats as tools, these female spies ferret out secret information from defence personnel, even before the latter realize that they have parted with something very important.
In ‘Operation Hyderabad’ launched by ISI, girls have been recruited in Pakistan for this purpose at two call centres, one in Hyderabad and the other in Rawalpindi. They have been trained to do data mining, locating Indian defence personnel by typing key words. They even trace defence personnel through their typical army haircuts. A single girl handles more than 50 profiles in a day. India TV reporter Rajesh Kumar and Defence Editor Manish Prasad, got these videos and chats verified and authenticated from army sources.
According to Military Intelligence, which decoded these links, the girls carry on intimate chats with their targets and after taking the quarry into confidence, they spend much time before seeking secret information. Once the target’s confidence is gained, the female spies manage to collect highly confidential information.
In ‘Aaj Ki Baat’, we showed one such Pakistani girl, codenamed Pooja Rajput, operating from Hyderabad in Sindh province. Posing herself as a former nurse from Military Nursing Service, she used to contact Indian defence personnel. After initial humorous jokes and light banter during chats, the girl gradually takes the target into confidence, by offering to listen to his personal and family problems. She often used to offer money using hawala route or by simply transferring money from a bank account. She also offers material help to the target. The girl acts in such a manner that the target could never realize that she is a Pakistani, not an Indian Hindu girl.
Locations of several IP addresses for these chats have been traced to Pakistan by Military Intelligence. Fake profiles in the names of Neha Sharma, Sanjana Joshi, Sonia Patel, Anya Sharma, Priyanshi Rajput, Tina Agrawal, Srishti Dixit (all names of Hindu girls) are created. Their priorities include, collection of secret info about army commander’s visit, photos of sensitive locations, and army communications.
Let me illustrate one case. One Jitendra Singh, a garment trader from Barmer, Rajasthan, was arrested in Bengaluru recently. He was actually spying for Pakistan and used to wear an Indian army uniform. Similarly a railway employee Bharat from Jaipur, and Sandip, who runs a gas agency in Jhunjhnu, Rajasthan, were also arrested. On checking the call data records of cellphones used by all these three accused, it was found that they were in contact with Pakistani girls operating from phone numbers originating in Hyderabad and Rawalpindi. Pictures of Pakistani girls were recovered from their cellphones.
On September 15, Odisha Police arrested four contractual workers of DRDO’s Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Balasore district on charge of espionage. They were leaking secrets to foreign agents after being honey trapped. The Crime Branch has taken over the probe. While being taken to the court, the four admitted to chatting on WhatsApp and Facebook with a woman from UP for several days before they were arrested. The case has been handed over to National Investiation Agency (NIA) which is investigating the profile of the woman who was chatting with these workers. The four were accused of handing over sensitive info about missile movement and names of scientists working at ITR. They were reportedly in touch with their ISI contacts in Karachi.
In some cases, the Pakistani girls, posing as Indian Hindus, create an impression on their targets that they live abroad, say London or USA, and tell their targets that meeting them physically was not possible. They are however available on WhatsApp video calls or Facebook. In one case, the Pakistani girl described herself as Ishanika Ahir, working as a desk clerk. In many of the chats, there are obscene remarks loaded with sexual innuendoes, which I could not share with our viewers.
The girl, profiled as Ishanika, was handling nearly 50 targets at a time, using different identities. She was Ishanika to some, and Navya Chopra to some others. On social media, the pictures of the girl are identical. She is an ISI handler working for a safehouse at West Ridge Road, Rawalpindi, according to military intelligence. There are reports of some secret telephone exchanges set up inside India by Pakistani agencies, from where internet calls are made to Indian targets, so that the traces of Pakistani locations are obliterated.
ISI is openly recruiting these girls by placing ads in newspapers, in the name of Fatima Jinnah Women’s University. The ad says, a media house linked to Pakistan army, requires female social media specialists who can interact through virtual conversations with targets.
On September 13, a counter-intelligence team of Punjab Police from Ludhiana arrested a man, Jaswinder Singh over his links with a Pakistani girl, who posed herself as Jasleen Brar from Bathinda. The police commissioner of Ludhiana said that the Pakistani girl posing as Jasleen Brar used an OTP given by Jaswinder to activate a WhatsApp number and chatted with at least seven defence personnel.
Sources have said that in order to access phones of army personnel, these ISI handlers use a particular malware by sending a link for downloading their fake pictures. The moment the target clicks the link, all data in his phone are compromised. All secret or sensitive information, videos or chats are passed on automatically to the ISI handler. In other words, software cloning takes place.
ISI is also using dark net now. Indian army has alerted all its personnel by sharing 20 particular email IDs and details of spoofing have been sent to all units. Army has cautioned all ranks not to click any dubious link, otherwise all information stored in their cellphones would be compromised. Army personnel have been asked to alert their family members too, not to click any unknown links. Jawans and officers have been asked not to upload their pictures wearing army uniform on social media, including cellphones.
Many of us must have read about the use of ‘vishkanya’ for espionage and murder of enemies during Kautilya’s (Chanakya) period. Pakistani girls who are being used by their spy agency belong to this category. They have been trained how to honeytrap army personnel. I want to thank our Military Intelligence for foiling this conspiracy hatched by ISI. It is a shameful act on part of Pakistan army, which is using girls for espionage. There are only a few countries in the world who use women and girls for espionage activity. Pakistan is one of them.
Our countrymen, particularly our armed forces personnel and their family members, should remain alert against such nefarious activities. All of us must ensure that not a single critical info about our defence preparedness must be revealed to our enemies, at any cost.

पंजाब के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और कांग्रेस के वरिष्ठ नेता कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह ने बुधवार को इंडिया टीवी की विशेष संवाददता विजयलक्ष्मी को दिए एक्सक्लूसिव इंटरव्यू में पार्टी हाईकमान को आगाह किया अगर पार्टी ने राज्य कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष नवजोत सिद्धू को सीएम उम्मीदवार के तौर पर पेश किया तो विधानसभा चुनावों में पार्टी दहाई का आंकड़ा भी नहीं छू पाएगी। कैप्टन ने यह भी कहा कि अगर सिद्धू विधानसभा चुनाव लड़ते हैं तो वे उन्हें हराने के लिए जी जान से लड़ेंगे।

कैप्टन अमरिंदर के बयानों को आनेवाले समय में विद्रोह का संकेत माना जा रहा है। कैप्टन अमरिंदर ने आरोप लगाया कि सिद्धू के कनेक्शन पाकिस्तान से हैं। कैप्टन ने साफ-साफ कहा- ‘सिद्दू पाकिस्तान का यार है, इमरान का यार है, उसे पाकिस्तान से प्यार है और ये प्यार हमारे देश के लिए खतरनाक है।’ पूर्व सीएम ने हमारी रिपोर्टर को दिखाया कि कैसे पाकिस्तान हमारे यहां बम-बारूद भेज रहा है, ड्रोन से हथियार गिरा रहा है, ड्रग्स की सप्लाई कर रहा है, ‘पंजाब को बर्बाद’ करने की साजिश रच रहा है। कैप्टन ने कहा कि इतना सब देख कर भी सिद्धू अभी-भी पाकिस्तान के वजीरे आजम इमरान खान के कसीदे पढ़ रहा है। लोगों ने सिद्धू को पाकिस्तानी आर्मी चीफ जनरल बाजवा को गले लगाते देखा है।

कैप्टन ने कसम खाई है कि वो ऐसे सिद्धू को पंजाब में जमने नहीं देंगे। किसी भी कीमत पर पंजाब में सिद्धू को जीतने नहीं देंगे। अपने लंबे इंटरव्यू में कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह ने गांधी-नेहरू परिवार के साथ अपने 67 वर्षों (1954 से) के रिश्ते को याद किया और बताया कि कैसे एक झटके में इस रिश्ते को गांधी परिवार ने तोड़ दिया। उन्होंने इसपर दुख जताया। पूर्व सीएम ने कहा कि राहुल गांधी और प्रियंका गांधी ‘राजनीतिक तौर पर परिपक्व नहीं’ हैं और उन्हें उनके सलाहकार गुमराह कर रहे हैं।

मैंने अपने प्राइम टाइम शो ‘आज की बात’ में बुधवार की रात ये दिखाया कि कैसे कांग्रेस नेतृत्व द्वारा जबरन इस्तीफा देने के लिए मजबूर किए जाने पर कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह ने गुस्सा और दुख जताया। उन्होंने कहा-‘चार साल पहले सिद्धू बीजेपी का सांसद था और फिर इधर (कांग्रेस) चला आया। व्हाट इज हिज गेम? वह ड्रामा मास्टर है। लोग उसे सुनने आते हैं क्योंकि वो चुटकुले सुनाता है। वह लोगों का मनोरंजन कर भीड़ इकट्ठी करता है लेकिन लोग उसे वोट नहीं देंगे। अगर पार्टी सिद्धू को चेहरा बनाकर चुनाव में उतरेगी तो निश्चित तौर पर हार जाएगी। चन्नी (मौजूदा सीएम) सही है और उसके नाम पर किसी को आपत्ति नहीं है।’

यह पूछे जानेपर कि क्या इससे अकाली दल या आम आदमी पार्टी को फायदा नहीं होगा, पूर्व सीएम ने कहा-‘वोट बंट जाएंगे। कई राजनीतिक दल काम कर रहे हैं। आम आदमी पार्टी, तीन अकाली दल हैं, इसके अलावा किसान संगठन और फिर बीजेपी है। यह एक तरह से ‘खिचड़ी’ है। मुझे नहीं पता यह त्रिशंकु विधानसभा होगी या नहीं लेकिन अगर हमारी पार्टी सिद्धू की लीडरशिप में चुनाव लड़ती है तो सीटों की संख्या दहाई के आंकड़े में भी आ जाए तो बहुत बड़ी बात होगी।’

अमरिंदर सिंह ने कहा, ’50 साल में मैं पहली बार देख रहा हूं कि मंत्री तय करने के लिए मुख्यमंत्री दिल्ली जा रहे हैं। दिल्ली में बैठे वे नेता मुख्यमंत्री को अपना मंत्रिमंडल बनाने की सलाह दे रहे हैं जिन नेताओं का पंजाब से कोई लेना-देना नहीं है। चन्नी ने पिछले साढ़े चार साल मेरे मंत्रिमंडल में मंत्री के रूप में अच्छा काम किया। वह सही आदमी है। लेकिन अगर वह सिद्धू के नीचे काम करता है फिर पार्टी हार जाएगी। आपके पास एक नेता होना चाहिए। आपके पास दो नेता या फिर सामूहिक लीडरशिप नहीं हो सकती। पंजाब को एक नेता, मजबूत नेता की जरूरत है।’

पूर्व सीएम ने कहा- ‘जब मैं दो बार, वर्ष 2002 और 2017 में मुख्यमंत्री बना तो मुझे सोनिया गांधी ने कहा कि जाकर शपथ लो। मैंने पार्टी नेतृत्व से कभी नहीं पूछा कि किसे मंत्री बनाया जाए। मैंने खुद मंत्रियों का चयन किया और उन्हें शपथ दिलाई गई। चन्नी साढ़े चार साल तक मेरे मंत्री रहे, उन्हें हर मंत्री की क्षमता का पता है। उन्हें दिल्ली में (हरीश) रावत, (रणदीप) सुरजेवाला या (अजय)माकन जैसे नेताओं की बात क्यों सुननी चाहिए कि किसे मंत्री बनाना है? मुख्यमंत्री को अपनी कैबिनेट को चलाना होता और मंत्रियों को मुख्यमंत्री पर भरोसा रखना होता है, साथ ही मुख्यमंत्री को भी मंत्रियों पर भरोसा करना होता है।’

कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह ने कहा, ‘मैंने तीन हफ्ते पहले कांग्रेस अध्यक्षा से मुलाकात की थी और कहा था कि मैं सिदधू के साथ काम नहीं कर सकता क्योंकि हम गलत दिशा में जा रहे हैं। मैंने उनसे कहा कि पार्टी टूट जाएगी, मैं इस्तीफा देना चाहता हूं। उन्होंने कहा- नहीं, आप बने रहें। लेकिन उस दिन जो भी हुआ, अगर वो मुझे फोन करके पद छोड़ने के लिए बोल देतीं तो मैं अपना इस्तीफा उन्हें भेज सकता था। लेकिन जब रात में मुझे कहा गया कि सीएलपी की बैठक बुलाई गई है और सीएलपी लीडर को भी आना है, तो मुझे दुख हुआ।’

यह पूछे जाने पर कि क्या उन्हें इसके लिए कम समय मिल पाया, पूर्व सीएम ने चुटकी ली, ‘मुझे क्या करना चाहिए था? क्या मुझे उन्हें (अपने विधायकों को) गोवा के लिए बस या प्लेन में ले जाना चाहिए था? ये मेरा स्टाइल नहीं है। और अगर 52 साल बाद वे मेरे काम करने के तरीके को नहीं समझ पाए तो यह कैसी लीडरशिप है? उन्हें मेरा स्टाइल पता होना चाहिए। मैं उन लोगों में नहीं हूं जो अपने समर्थकों कही छिपा देते हैं। मेरे समर्थकों ने मुझे सुबह बताया कि उन्हें सीएलपी की बैठक में शामिल होने के लिए कहा गया है। मैंने उनसे कहा कि मत जाओ, और दोपहर 2 बजे मेरे घर पर आओ। लेकिन जल्द ही फोन बजने लगे और मेरे समर्थकों से कहा गया कि वे मुझसे नहीं मिलें। यह किस तरह का बचपना है?

‘सुरजेवाला और कुछ अन्य नेता वहां मीटिंग के लिए आए थे। मैं उस तरह का नेता नहीं हूं। वे अपने विधायकों को दूसरे राज्यों में छिपा सकते थे, लेकिन यहां नहीं। अगर कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष ने मुझे पद छोड़ने के लिए पहले कहा होता तो मैं इस्तीफा दे देता। उस दिन सुबह 10 बजे जब मैंने उनसे कहा कि मैं इस्तीफा दे दूंगा तो उन्होंने कहा-अमरिंदर, आई एम वेरी सॉरी। मैंने शाम 4 बजे अपना इस्तीफा दे दिया। यह सब ड्रामा करने की क्या जरूरत थी?’

यह पूछे जाने पर कि पार्टी नेतृत्व द्वारा उन्हें सीएम पद छोड़ने के लिए कहने के फैसले के पीछे कौन लोग थे, अमरिंदर सिंह ने कहा, ‘ये सलाहकार लोग हो सकते हैं। मेंरे दोनों (राहुल और प्रियंका) से गहरे संबंध हैं। हालांकि मैं पिछले डेढ़ साल से कोविड महामारी के चलते उनसे मिल नहीं पाया था। हम एक-दूसरे से व्हाट्सएप के जरिए संपर्क में थे। वे मुझे इस्तीफा देने के लिए कह सकते थे। प्रियंका के साथ हमारी आपस में बात होती रहती है। अगर आप किसी और को लाना चाहते थे तो लाएं। लेकिन इसमें मुझे अपमानित मत करें। मैं दोनों को बचपन से जानता हूं। उनके पिता (राजीव गांधी) स्कूल में मुझसे एक साल जूनियर थे। मैं उन्हें 1954 यानी करीब 67 साल से जनता हूं। मैं इस बात से परेशान हूं कि पहले मैंने इस्तीफा देने की पेशकश की तो उन्होंने मुझे पद छोड़ने की इजाजत नहीं दी और जब उन्होंने अपना मन बदल लिया था तो मुझे बताना चाहिए था, मुझे फोन तो करना चाहिए था।’

यह पूछे जाने पर कि क्या यह सब प्रियंका और राहुल के निर्णय न ले पाने के चलते हुआ, अमरिंदर सिंह ने कहा-‘नहीं, वे अभी ज्यादा अनुभवी नहीं हैं। उनके पास (केसी) वेणुगोपाल और दूसरे सलाहकार हैं जो उन्हें हर बात बताते हैं। ये सलाहकार मेरे कैरेक्टर को नहीं जानते। जब मुझे पता चलता कि मेरा समय खत्म हो गया है तो मैं इस्तीफा दे देता। मैं किसी चीज से नहीं चिपकता।’

कैप्टन अमरिंदर ने बताया कि कैसे पाकिस्तान हथियार, विस्फोटक और ड्रग्स भेजकर पंजाब में अस्थिरता पैदा करने की साजिश रच रहा है। उन्होंने बताया कि राज्य को एक ऐसी सरकार की जरूरत है जो पाकिस्तान के मंसूबों का नाकाम करने के लिए केंद्र के साथ मिलकर काम सके। उन्होंने कहा- क्या पाकिस्तान के नेताओं को अपना दोस्त मानने वाले सिद्धू केंद्र की बीजेपी सरकार के साथ तालमेल बिठा सकते हैं? भारत के लोग कभी सिद्धू पर भरोसा नहीं कर सकते और कांग्रेस हाईकमान को भी उनपर भरोसा नहीं करना चाहिए।.. मैं सिद्धू को किसी भी कीमत पर जीतने नहीं दूंगा, चाहे इसके लिए कुछ भी कुर्बान क्यों न करना पड़े।’

कैप्टन अमरिन्दर सिंह ने कहा, सिद्धू जब बीजेपी में थे तो शायरी सुनाकर नरेंद्र मोदी की तारीफ करते थे। अब कांग्रेस में पहुंचने पर वही शायरी सोनिया गांधी के लिए पढ़ी। केवल नाम में नरेंद्र मोदी की जगह सोनिया जोड़ दिया। फिर वही लाइनें आसाराम बापू के लिए कही और हैरानी की बात ये है कि सिद्धू जट सिख हैं और जो बातें उन्होंने इन नेताओं और बाबओं के लिए कही, वही बात और वही शब्द उन्होंने गुरू नानक देव के लिए कही है।

कैप्टन ने एक मंझे हुए नेता हैं और अपने इंटरव्यू में उन्होंने फ्यूचर प्लान के बारे में कुछ भी खुलासा नहीं किया। इससे जुड़े सभी सवालों को दरकिनार करते हुए उन्होंने अपनी बात रखी।

कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह की बातों से लगता है कि वो इस बात से सबसे ज्यादा आहत हैं कि उनके गांधी-नेहरू परिवार से 67 साल पुराने रिश्ते थे लेकिन सोनिया गांधी ने उनपर भरोसा नहीं किया। उन्हें इस बात का दुख है कि राहुल और प्रियंका ने चार साल पहले बीजेपी से कांग्रेस में आए सिद्धू पर भरोसा कर लिया और 67 साल पुराने पारिवारिक रिश्ते को झटके में तोड़ दिया।

कैप्टन को लगता है कि पंजाब में कांग्रेस हावी थी और चुनाव जीत जाती लेकिन अगर सिद्धू पार्टी को लीड करते हैं तो अब डबल फिगर में पहुंचना भी मुश्किल हो जाएगा। वो कन्विंस्ड हैं कि राहुल औऱ प्रियंका में अनुभव की कमी है। ये दोनों अपने सलाहकारों के कहने पर चलते हैं और वो पंजाब की राजनीति को नहीं समझ पाए। अपने इंटरव्यू में कैप्टन ने इशारा किया कि राजस्थान में अशोक गहलोत को अपनी सरकार संभालने की जरूरत है, उनकी कुर्सी पर भी खतरा हो सकता है।

कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह वैसे तो राजनीति से रिटायर होने का प्लान बना रहे थे पर जब सोनिया गांधी ने उन्हें चीफ मुख्यमंत्री से हटाया, तो उन्होंने तय किया कि वो हार कर मैदान नहीं छोड़ेंगे। जब तक जीत नहीं जाते, तब तक लड़ेंगे। कैप्टन ने कहा कि अगर कांग्रेस सिद्धू के नाम पर चुनाव लड़ेगी तो वो कांग्रेस को हराएंगे।

अब सच ये है कि राहुल और प्रियंका ने तो अपना दांव सिद्धू पर लगाया है। सब जानते हैं कि चन्नी एक स्टॉप गैप अरेंजमेंट हैं, लेकिन कैप्टन ने जो कड़ा स्टैंड लिया है उससे पंजाब में कांग्रेस का बना बनाया खेल बिगड़ सकता है।

Senior Congress leader and former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, in a hard-hitting exclusive interview to India TV special correspondent Vijaylaxmi on Wednesday, cautioned the party high command that it may not manage to get even double-digit figure in the assembly elections, if the party projected state unit chief Navjot Singh Sidhu as its chief ministerial candidate. To rub salt into the wounds, the ex-army captain said that he would ensure Sidhu’s defeat if he contested the assembly election.

In what is being seen as a virtual revolt by the former CM, Capt. Amarinder Singh alleged that Sidhu had “connections” with the Pakistani establishment. “He is Pakistan’s friend, Imran’s friend, he loves Pakistan and this sort of love is dangerous for India”, he said. The former CM showed to our correspondent documents which highlighted how Pakistan is sending arms, explosives and ammunitions to India, airdropping arms by using drones, and smuggling in huge quantities of narcotics in its plot to “destroy Punjab”. Yet, he said, Sidhu is still praising the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, and people have seen him hugging the Pakistani army chief Geb. Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Capt. Amarinder Singh vowed that he would not allow Sidhu to win the elections at any cost. In his long interview, the former army captain, nostalgically remembered his connections with Gandhi-Nehru family for the last 67 years (since 1954). He expressed sadness over the manner in which this relationship was snapped off this month by Gandhi family. The former CM described both Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi as “not politically mature” and that they were being misled by their advisers.

In my prime time show ‘Aaj Ki Baat’ on Wednesday night, we showed how Capt. Amarinder Singh expressed his anger and sadness over the manner in which the Congress leadership practically forced him to resign. “Four years ago, Sidhu was BJP MP and then he crossed over (to Congress). What is his game? He is a drama master. People come to listen to him because he cracks jokes. He only collects crowds to amuse them, but people will not vote. If the party projects him as the face, it will surely lose the polls. Nobody has objections over Channi (the present CM).”

Asked whether it will give advantage to Akali Dal or AAP, the former CM said: “Votes will be divided. There are lots of forces at work. There is AAP, there are three Akali Dals, there are farmers unions, then there is BJP, it is ‘khichdi’ right now. I do not know whether it would be a hung assembly, but under Sidhu’s leadership, it will be a big thing if our party gets double digit seats”.

Amarinder Singh said, “ For the first time in 50 years, I am seeing chief ministers going to Delhi to select ministers. Leaders in Delhi, who have nothing to do with Punjab, are advising the chief minister about forming his cabinet. Channi worked well for the last four and a half years as minister in my Cabinet. He is a bright man. But if he tows Sidhu’s line, the party will lose. You must have one leader, you cannot have two leaders or a collective leadership. Punjab wants one leader, a strong leader.”

The former CM said, “ When I became chief minister twice, in 2002 and in 2017, I was told by Mrs (Sonia) Gandhi to go and take oath. I never asked the party leadership on whom to make ministers. I selected the cabinet myself and the ministers were sworn in. Channi was my minister for four and a half years, he knows the capabilities each of the ministers. Why should he listen to leaders in Delhi like (Harish) Rawat, (Randeep) Surjewala or (Ajay) Maken, about whom to take as minister? The chief minister has to run his cabinet, and his ministers must have confidence in the CM, and vice versa. “

Capt. Amarinder Singh said, “I met the Congress president three weeks ago and told her I cannot work with Sidhu, because we are working in opposite directions. I told her, the party will break, I want to resign. She said, no, you carry on. But the day it happened, if she had telephoned me and asked to quit, I could have sent my resignation. But when they said at night that they have convened the CLP meeting, and wanted the CLP leader to come, that hurt me.”

Asked whether he got less time for this, the former CM quipped: “What should I have done? Should I have taken them (my MLAs) in a bus or plane to Goa? This is not my style. And, if after 52 years, they could not understand my style of working, what is this leadership? They should know my style. I am not somebody who would hide my supporters somewhere. My supporters told me in the morning, they have been asked to attend the CLP meeting. I told them not to go, and come to my residence at 2 pm. Soon, telephones started ringing and my supporters were told not to meet me. What’s all this childishness?”

“.. Surjewala and some other leader came here for the meeting. I am not that type of leader. They could have hidden their legislators in other states, but not here. If the Congress President had asked me to quit earlier, I would have resigned. The moment she told me that day to quit at 10 am, I said I will resign. She said, Amarinder, I am very sorry. … I tendered my resignation at 4 pm. What was the need for doing all this drama?”

Asked who were behind the party leadership’s decision to ask him to quit, the former CM said, “These could be advisers. ..I have close relationship with both of them (Rahul and Priyanka), though I could not meet them for last one and a half years because of Covid (pandemic). We contacted through WhatsApp. They could have told me to quit. With Priyanka, we keep talking to each other. If you want to bring somebody else, do that, but, in the process, please do not humiliate me. I know both of them since childhood. His father (Rajiv Gandhi) was one year junior to me in school. I knew him since 1954, say 67 years. I am upset about this. First I offered my resignation, they refused to allow me to quit. But when they changed their mind, they should have phoned me again.”

Asked whether this was because of Priyanka and Rahul’s indecisiveness, Singh said: ”No, they are not much experienced. They have advisers like (K.C.) Venugopal and all these other fellows who tell them all sorts of things. These advisers do not know my character. When I know my time is up, I resign. I do not cling to anything.”

The former chief minister pointed out how Pakistan was crafting a plot to create turmoil in Punjab by sending in arms, explosives and drugs, and the state needed a government which could coordinate with the Centre to foil Pakistan’s designs. ‘Can Sidhu, who considers Pakistani leaders as his friends, coordinate with the BJP government at the Centre?, he asked. “The people of India can never trust Sidhu, and the Congress high command should not trust him too. …I will not allow Sidhu to win at any cost, whatever may be the sacrifice.”

Capt. Amarinder Singh said, how Sidhu used to praise Modi by reciting a poem, when he was in BJP, substituted Sonia’s name when he joined the Congress, used the same poem to praise Asaram Bapu, and a Jat Sikh like Sidhu, even used the same poem for praising Guru Nanak Dev.

As a seasoned politician, Capt. Amarinder Singh did not disclose his future plan in the interview. He sidestepped all questions relating to the next step he proposed to take, keeping all the cards close to his chest.

Watching the former chief minister speak, one feels sad how Sonia Gandhi did not trust him even after his 67-year-long relationship with her husband. Singh is unhappy because Rahul and Priyanka have trusted Sidhu, who joined the party only four years back, disregarding the 67-year-old family relationship.

The ex-army captain feels that the Congress, which was dominating in Punjab, will now dwindle to two-digit figure if Sidhu continues to lead the party. He is also unhappy over the fact that Rahul and Priyanka’s advisers have practically no knowledge about the political equations in Punjab. In his interview, the Captain also hinted at chances of Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot losing his throne.

Capt. Amarinder Singh was already planning to retire from politics, but after his unceremonious removal, as an ex-army man, he has decided to quit only after fighting his last battle. He has decided not to leave the political battlefield like a loser. The Captain clearly said, he would ensure that the Congress is defeated if it contests Punjab elections under Sidhu’s leadership.

The ground reality is that both Rahul and Priyanka have backed Sidhu as their best bet, with Channi as a stop gap arrangement, but with the Captain hardening his stand, the Congress game plan in Punjab could backfire.

अखिल भारतीय अखाड़ा परिषद के अध्यक्ष महंत नरेन्द्र गिरि को बुधवार को साधु-संतों की उपस्थिति में पूरे सम्मान के साथ भू-समाधि दी गई। इस बीच, महंत द्वारा साइन किए हुए सुसाइड नोट से पता चला है कि उन्होंने अपने शिष्य आनंद गिरी द्वारा ब्लैकमेल किए जाने की धमकी के कारण आत्महत्या जैसा कदम उठाया। आनंद गिरी इस समय पुलिस हिरासत में है।

उत्तर प्रदेश पुलिस को एक वीडियो रिकॉर्डिंग मिली है जिसे महंत नरेन्द्र गिरी ने आत्महत्या करने से पहले रिकॉर्ड किया था। इसमें मंहत ने अपने शिष्य आनंद गिरि को अपनी मौत के लिए जिम्मेदार ठहराया है। इस वीडियो से आनंद गिरि के वे सारे दावे झूठे साबित हो गए, जो वह पिछले 24 घंटे से कर रहा था। महंत की मौत के तुरंत बाद एक सुसाइड नोट मिला था और उसमें भी उन्होंने अपने शिष्य के खिलाफ ठीक ऐसा ही आरोप लगाया था। महंत का आरोप था कि उनका शिष्य आनंद गिरि उनकी मॉर्फ्ड तस्वीर और वीडियो जारी करने की धमकी दे रहा था जिसमें वह उन्हें किसी लड़की के साथ दिखाता।

महंत कहते और लिखते हैं कि सच्चाई सामने आने में लंबा वक्त लग जाएगा, लेकिन तब तक उनकी बदनामी हो जाएगी और समाज में उनकी प्रतिष्ठा धूमिल हो जाएगी। उन्होंने लिखा, ‘मैं लाख सफाई दूंगा, पर लोग कहां यकीन करेंगे? जब तक लोगों को सच्चाई का पता चलेगा, तब तक तो बहुत देर हो चुकी होगी।’ साफ है कि महंत को मॉर्फ्ड ब्लैकमेल वीडियो के सामने आने के बाद होने वाली बदनामी का डर था। बस इसी बदनामी के डर से उन्होंने आत्महत्या कर ली।

इस पूरी कहानी में सबसे ज्यादा दुख की बात ये है कि महंत नरेन्द्र गिरि ने अपनी मौत के लिए जिस शिष्य आनंद गिरि को जिम्मेदार ठहाराया है, उसे उन्होंने अपने बच्चे की तरह पाला था। महंत ने उसे पढ़ाया-लिखाया और अपना उत्तराधिकारी तक बनाने के बारे में सोचा। सोमवार को महंत की आत्महत्या की खबर सामने आने के कुछ मिनट बाद हरिद्वार के पास एक गांव में मौजूद आनंद गिरि ने आरोप लगाया कि महंत की हत्या की गई है। उसने कहा कि महंत इतना लंबा सुसाइड नोट नहीं लिख सकते थे। आनंद गिरि ने आरोप लगाया कि कुछ लोग महंत की संपत्ति हड़पना चाहते थे। एक तरफ सुसाइड नोट पढ़ने और वीडियो देखने, और दूसरी तरफ आनंद गिरी का बयान सुनने के बाद यह पता लगाना आसान हो जाएगा कि कौन सच कह रहा है, और कौन झूठ बोल रहा है।

महंत के वीडियो और सुसाइड नोट को देखने के बाद यह साफ हो जाता है कि उन्होंने भावावेश में आकर आत्महत्या नहीं की। महंत कई दिनों से अपनी आत्महत्या की तैयारी कर रहे थे।

सुसाइड नोट के मुताबिक, पहली बार उन्होंने 13 सितंबर को आत्महत्या करने की कोशिश की थी, लेकिन हिम्मत नहीं जुटा पाए। जब हम मंहत नरेन्द्र गिरि के 15 पन्ने के सुसाइड नोट को देखते हैं तो पता चलता है कि इसके दो हिस्से हैं और इसे लिखने में कई दिन लगे हैं। पुलिस को सुसाइड नोट 2 अलग-अलग लिफाफों में मिला है। एक सुसाइड नोट में 13 सितंबर की तारीख लिखी है, जबकि दूसरे में तारीख 20 सितंबर की है। इससे इस सवाल का जवाब मिलता है कि चूंकि महंत ज्यादा लिखना नहीं जानते थे इसलिए उन्होंने धीरे-धीरे कई दिन में ये नोट लिखा। यह बात भी गौर करने वाली है कि कहने को तो ये नोट 15 पन्नों पर लिखा गया लेकिन एक-एक पन्ने पर कुछ ही लाइनें लिखीं गई हैं, और कई शब्द लिख-लिख कर काटे गए हैं।

20 सितंबर के सुसाइड नोट में महंत ने लिखा है कि उन्हें जानकारी मिली है कि आनंद गिरि एक-दो दिन में उनका एक लड़की के साथ मॉर्फ्ड वीडियो जारी करने जा रहा है और वह इसे सोशल मीडिया पर वायरल कर देगा। नरेन्द्र गिरी ने लिखा, ‘अगर वह ऐसा कर देता है तो मैं कब तक सफाई देता रहूंगा? एक बार मेरी बदनामी हो गई तो फिर जीवन में क्या रह जाएगा? मैं एक गरिमामयी पद पर विराजमान हूं। मैं आत्महत्या करने जा रहा हूं और इसकी जिम्मेदारी आनंद गिरि, आद्या प्रसाद तिवारी और उनके लड़के संदीप तिवारी की होगी।’ महंत ने यह सुसाइड नोट बाघंबरी मठ के आधिकारिक लेटर पैड पर लिखा था।

महन्त नरेन्द्र गिरि ने यह भी लिखा: ‘जबसे आनंद गिरि ने मुझ पर असत्य, मिथ्या और मनगढ़ंत आरोप लगाए हैं, तबसे मैं जबरदस्त मानसिक दबाव में जी रहा हूं। जब भी मैं एकांत में होता हूं, तो मर जाने की इच्छा होती है। आनंद गिरि, आद्या तिवारी और संदीप तिवारी ने मिलकर मेरे साथ विश्वासघात किया, उन्होंने मुझे जान से मारने की कोशिश की। आनंद गिरि ने फेसबुक, सोशल मीडिया और अखबारों में मेरे ऊपर मनगढ़ंत आरोप लगाए। वे मुझे फिर से बदनाम करने की धमकी दे रहे हैं, इसलिए मैं आत्महत्या कर रहा हूं।’

अब सवाल यह उठता है कि आखिर महंत इतना क्यों डर गए थे? अगर उन्होंने कुछ गलत नहीं किया था, तो फिर डर किस बात का था? इस सवाल का जवाब महंत ने मौत से पहले रिकॉर्ड किए गए आखिरी वीडियो में, और सुसाइड नोट में खुद दे दिया है। आनंद गिरि ने इससे पहले भी महंत की आवाज का इस्तेमाल करते हुए एक मॉर्फ्ड ऑडियो क्लिप सोशल मीडिया पर फैला दी थी, जिससे काफी बदनामी हुई थी। अंत में उन्होंने लिखा, ‘आज मैं हिम्मत हार गया हूं और आत्महत्या कर रहा हूं।’ सोशल मीडिया पर जो ऑडियो क्लिप वायरल हुई थी उसमें महंत से मिलती-जुलती आवाज का कोई शख्स किसी को गाली देते हुए सुनाई देता है।

आनंद गिरि ने एक वीडियो भी जारी किया था जिसमें महंत को एक शादी के रिसेप्शन में बार डांसर्स पर नोटों की बौछार करते हुए दिखाया गया था। दरअसल, महंत अपने एक कर्मचारी के शादी समारोह में नवविवाहित जोड़े को आशीर्वाद देने के लिए गए थे, और फिर लौट आए थे, लेकिन वीडियो को मॉर्फ करके ऐसे दिखाया गया जैसे वह बार डांसर्स पर नोट उड़ा रहे हों। ऐसे में इस महीने जब महंत को पता चला कि आनंद गिरि एक लड़की के साथ उसका एक मॉर्फ्ड वीडियो फैलाने जा रहा है, तो उनकी हिम्मत टूट गई और उन्होंने अपनी जान देने जैसा कदम उठा लिया।

उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ मंगलवार को महंत को अंतिम विदाई देने के लिए प्रयागराज गए थे। वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारियों द्वारा मामले की जानकारी योगी को दिए जाने, और एक SIT जिसमें यूपी के वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारी शामिल हैं, के गठन के बाद सच्चाई सामने आ ही जाएगी। शुरुआती FIR में आनंद गिरि का नाम है। उसे पूछताछ के लिए प्रयागराज लाया गया है। बाघंबरी मठ के कई शिष्यों और सेवादारों से पूछताछ की जा रही है। सूत्रों ने खुलासा किया है कि महंत ने शुरू में सल्फास (एल्यूमीनियम फॉस्फाइड) की गोलियों का ऑर्डर दिया था, लेकिन बाद में अपना विचार बदल दिया, और एक नायलॉन की रस्सी मंगाई। सल्फास की डिब्बी को खोला नहीं गया था। उन्होंने फांसी लगाने के लिए नायलॉन की रस्सी का इस्तेमाल किया था।

आनंद गिरि बचपन में महंत नरेन्द्र गिरि को हरिद्वार के एक ढाबे पर बर्तन धोते हुए मिला था। अपने माता-पिता के बारे में पूछने पर उसने बताया था कि वह राजस्थान के भीलवाड़ा का रहने वाला है और अपने घर से भाग आया है। महंत ने उसे समझा बुझा कर वापस घर भेजने की कोशिश की, पर जब वह नहीं माना तो महंत उसे अपने आश्रम ले आए। उन्होंने आनंद को अपने बच्चे की तरह पाला, पढ़ाया-लिखाया। आनंद गिरि ने काशी हिंदू विश्वविद्यालय से पीएचडी की। बाद में आनंद गिरि ने अपने गुरु को कई बार बदनाम करने, उन्हें परेशान करने की कोशिश की। जिस लड़के को उन्होंने अपना माना, पाल-पोसकर बड़ा किया, वही उनके जीवन के अंत का कारण बना। इससे बड़ी विडंबना क्या हो सकती है कि जिस लड़के के सिर पर उन्होंने बचपन से ही अपना हाथ रखा, उसी ने उन्हें बदनाम करने की कोशिश की।

पुलिस को इस पूरे मामले की गहराई से जांच करनी चाहिए। इस साजिश का पूरा सच सामने आना चाहिए। महंत को उनके अंतिम दिनों में कष्ट देने वालों को सजा मिलनी चाहिए।

Akhara Parishad chief Mahant Narendra Giri was laid to rest (Bhu-Samadhi) on Wednesday with full honours in the presence of saints and sadhus. Meanwhile, the signed suicide note of the Mahant has revealed that he committed suicide because of a blackmail threat by his disciple Anand Giri, presently under police custody.

UP police has, in its possession, a video recording of the Mahant before he committed suicide, in which he holds his disciple Anand Giri for his extreme act. This video clearly refutes all claims being made by Anand Giri during the last 24 hours. Soon after the Mahant’s death, a suicide note was found in which he had made a similar charge against his disciple.

On Tuesday, UP police confirmed that a one minute video has been found from Mahant Narendra Giri’s cellphone in which he has made the same charges that he levelled in his suicide note. The details revealed by the Mahant, both in his video and suicide note, are heart rending. The Mahant alleged that his disciple Anand Giri was threatening him to release morphed video and pictures in which he would show the Mahant with a girl.
The Mahant says and writes, that it would take a long time for the truth to come out, but by then, he would be defamed and his prestige in society would lie in tatters. “I will give so many clarifications, but will people believe them? By the time people will realize the truth, it would be too late”, he wrote. Clearly, the mahant was afraid of calumnies that would be heaped once the morphed blackmail video was out. He wanted to end his life before facing such insults and calumnies.

The saddest part of this story is that the Mahant had groomed his disciple, Anand Giri, from childhood, looking after his education and upbringing. He wanted to anoint him as his successor before death. On Monday, minutes after news spread about the Mahant’s suicide, Anand Giri, sitting in a village near Haridwar, alleged that the mahant was murdered, he could not have written such a lengthy suicide note and that some vested interests wanted to grab the mahant’s properties. If one goes through the suicide note and video, and his disciple’s charges, it will be easier to figure out who is telling the truth and who is lying.

Going through the mahant’s video and suicide note, it is clear that his suicide did not take place because of sudden emotion. The mahant was making preparations for his suicide for the several weeks.
According to the suicide note, he tried to commit suicide on September 13, but could not muster enough courage. The 15-page handwritten suicide note appears to have been written over a period of several days. Police found the suicide notes written in two envelopes. On one note, the date September 13 was written, and on the other, the date September 20 was written. Anand Giri’s claim that the mahant could not write more than a few paras stands refuted. The mahant took time to write his suicide notes, even one of the pages had only a few sentences with several corrections.
In the suicide note dated September 20, the mahant wrote that he has got information that Anand Giri was going to release a morphed video of the mahant with a girl within a day or two, and he would make it viral on social media. “If he does so, how long should I go on giving clarifications? Once I am defamed, what will remain for the rest of my life? I occupy a dignified post which commands respect and reverence…I am going to take my life, and for this act, I hold Anand Giri, Aadya Prasad Tiwari and his son Sandeep Tiwari responsible”, he wrote. The suicide note was written on an official letter pad of Baghambari Math.

He also wrote: “Since the time Anand Giri levelled false, untrue and baseless allegations against me, I have been living under tremendous mental pressure. Whenever I am alone, I feel I want to die. …Anand Giri, Aadya Tiwari and Sandeep Tiwari have backstabbed me, they even tried to kill me, baseless charges were levelled against me by Anand Giri on social media like Facebook and newspapers. They are threatening to defame me again, and that’s why, I want to take my life.”

The question arises: Why was the Mahant so much afraid? He did not commit any illegal act, yet why was he afraid? He himself reveals the reason both in the video and suicide note. Anand Giri had earlier circulated a morphed audio clip using the mahant’s voice on social media, causing defamation. In the end, he wrote, “Today I have lost my courage, I am ending my life.” In the audio clip posted on social media, a man’s voice similar to that of the mahant, is heard abusing somebody.

Anand Giri had also circulated a video showing the mahant showering currency notes on bar dancers at a wedding reception. In fact, the mahant had gone to a wedding function of one of his staff to bless the newly wedded couple, and returned, but the video was morphed and it was shown as if the mahant was showering currency notes on bar dancers. This month, when the mahant came to know that Anand Giri was going to circulate a morphed video of him with a girl, he lost courage and decided to take his own life.

UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath went to Prayagraj on Tuesday to pay his last respects to the mahant. After he was briefed by senior police officials, a Special Investigation Team consisting of senior UP police officers has been formed, the truth is going to come out. Anand Giri has been named in the initial FIR. He was been brought to Prayagraj for interrogation. Several disciples and sevadars of Baghambari Math are being questioned. Sources have revealed that the mahant had initially ordered sulphas (aluminium phosphide) pesticide tablets but later changed his mind, and bought a nylon rope. The box of sulphas was found unopened. He used the nylon rope to hang himself.
As a child, Anand Giri used to wash utensils at a ‘dhaba’ in Haridwar when the Mahant noticed him. On asking him about his parents, the boy told him that he hailed from Bhilwara, Rajasthan and has run away from his home. The mahant tried to send him back to his home, but when he refused, he took the child to his ashram. He groomed him like his son. Anand Giri pursued higher education and obtained Ph.D. from Benares Hindu University. Later, Anand Giri tormented his guru by trying to defame him in social life. This boy whom he had groomed for decades became the cause of his death. It is sad that a boy who he took under his wings since childhood tried to defame him in public.

It would be better if police goes to the depth of the conspiracy that led to the mahant’s suicide. The truth must come out. Those guilty for tormenting the mahant in his last days must be punished.

अखिल भारतीय अखाड़ा परिषद के प्रमुख महंत नरेंद्र गिरि महाराज की सोमवार को संदिग्ध हालत में मौत हो गई। प्रयागराज के बाघम्बरी मठ के अंदर उनका शव पंखे से लटका मिला। अखाड़ा परिषद भारत में साधुओं के 13 मान्यता प्राप्त अखाड़ों की शीर्ष संस्था है। इसका उत्तर भारत के हिंदुओं के बीच काफी प्रभाव है।

पुलिस ने बताया कि बंद कमरे से चार पेज का स्यूसाइड नोट बरामद हुआ है। इसमें पेज के दोनों तरफ लिखा हुआ है। स्यूसाइड नोट में महंत ने अपने शिष्य आनंद गिरि पर ‘मानसिक रूप से प्रताड़ित’ करने का आरोप लगाया और लिखा कि इसी वजह से वे यह बड़ा कदम उठाने को मजबूर हुए हैं। स्यूसाइड नोट में नाम आते ही उत्तराखंड पुलिस ने फौरन आनंद गिरि को हरिद्वार से पकड़ लिया। ये कहा जा रहा है कि स्यूसाइड नोट में महंत गिरि ने लिखा है कि ‘मैंने सम्मानपूर्वक जीवन जिया है और सम्मानपूर्वक मरना चाहता हूं।’ स्यूसाइड नोट का एक बड़ा हिस्सा एक तरह से वसीयतनामे की तरह लिखा है जिसमें इस बात उल्लेख है कि उनके किस शिष्य को कितनी संपत्ति मिलनी चाहिए।

महंत नरेंद्र गिरि का कुछ महीने पहले अपने शिष्य आनंद गिरि के साथ संपत्ति विवाद हुआ था। इस विवाद को एक वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारी और दो राजनेताओं के दखल के बाद सुलझाया गया था। वहीं गिरफ्तार किए जाने से पहले हरिद्वार में आनंद गिरि ने मीडिया से बात की। आनंद गिरि ने आरोप लगाया कि महंत नरेंद्र गिरि ने आत्महत्या नहीं की बल्कि उनकी हत्या की गई है। उन्होंने कहा इसकी जांच होनी चाहिए कि एक बार में चंद पंक्तियों से ज्यादा नहीं लिख पानेवाले महंत नरेंद्र गिरि ने इतना लंबा स्यूसाइड नोट कैसे लिखा।

महंत नरेंद्र गिरि को वर्ष 2014 में अखाड़ा परिषद् का अध्यक्ष चुना गया था और पांच साल बाद हरिद्वार में वे फिर से निर्वाचित हुए। बीजेपी और समाजवादी पार्टी दोनों दलों के नेताओं से इनके करीबी संबंध थे। इस साल मई महीने में उनका अपने शिष्य आनंद गिरि, जिसे ‘छोटे महंत’ के नाम से जाना जाता था, के साथ काफी विवाद हुआ था। इस विवाद की सार्वजनिक तौर पर काफी चर्चा भी हुई थी। आनंद गिरि को बाघम्बरी मठ और निरंजनी अखाड़ा दोनों से निकाल दिया था। आनंद गिरि पर ‘संन्यास’ लेने के बाद परिवार के सदस्यों के साथ सभी तरह के संबंधों को खत्म करने के नियमों के उल्लंघन का आरोप लगा था। इसके साथ ही मंदिर के धन के दुरुपयोग का भी आरोप लगा था।

आनंद गिरि ने उस वक्त अपने गुरु के खिलाफ प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय और उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री को एक शिकायत भेजी थी। हालांकि, कुछ समय के बाद आनंद गिरि ने सार्वजनिक तौर पर अपने गुरु के पैर छूकर उनसे माफी मांग ली थी। आनंद गिरि ने श्री पंचायती अखाड़ा निरंजनी के पंच परमेश्वर से भी माफी मांगी थी। तब महंत नरेंद्र गिरि ने उन्हें माफ कर दिया था।

पूरे हालात पर नजर दौड़ाएं तो कुछ बातें स्पष्ट होती हैं। महंत नरेंद्र गिरि का शव अंदर से बंद कमरे में पंखे से लटका मिला है। साथ में स्यूसाइड नोट है और इस नोट में उन्होंने अपने शिष्य आनंद गिरि का नाम लिखा है। आनंद गिरि को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया है। उनका कहना है कि महंत नरेंद्र गिरी तो चिठ्ठी भी नहीं लिख सकते थे तो इतना बड़ा स्यूसाइड नोट कैसे लिखेंगे? आनंद गिरि ने आरोप लगाया कि महंत नरेंद्र गिरि की हत्या हुई है। हत्या के बाद उनके शव को पंखे से लटका कर आत्महत्या का रूप देने की कोशिश की गई है। और हत्यारे ने उन्हें फंसाने के लिए उनका नाम स्यूसाइड नोट में लिख दिया है। ये सही है कि संप्रदाय के नियमों के उल्लंघन और धन-संपत्तियों के दुरुपयोग को लेकर गुरु और शिष्य के बीच सार्वजनिक रूप से विवाद हुआ था। यह भी सही है कि शिष्य ने बाद में गुरु से माफी मांगी थी और गुरु ने उसे माफ भी कर दिया था।

अब इस बात की जांच उत्तर प्रदेश पुलिस कर रही है कि महंत ने आत्महत्या की या उनकी हत्या की गई। महंत ने अपनी चिट्ठी में दो अन्य लोगों का भी नाम लिया है। पुलिस ने उन्हें भी पकड़ा है। चूंकि जांच अभी शुरुआती चरण में है इसलिए न तो किसी को क्लीन चिट दी जा सकती है और न ही किसी को दोषी ठहराया जा सकता है। मैं तो कहूंगा दोषी जो भी हो उसे पकड़ा जाना चाहिए। उसे दंडित किया जाना चाहिए। यदि किसी ने उन्हें आत्महत्या के लिए उकसाया हो तो उस पर आत्महत्या के लिए उकसाने का आरोप लगाया जाना चाहिए। यह मामला बहुत गंभीर है। इस मामले की हकीकत, इसकी सच्चाई जल्दी से जल्दी सामने आनी चाहिए। महंत नरेंद्र गिरि के बड़ी संख्या में अनुयायी थे और वे बेहद सम्मानित संत थे। संत समाज पूरे समाज को रास्ता दिखाता है। वे हमें जीने की राह बताते हैं। अगर महंत नरेन्द्र गिरि जैसे बड़े और सम्मानित संत अपनी जान देने के लिए मजबूर हो जाएं या फिर कोई उनकी हत्या कर दे तो समाज के लिए इससे ज्यादा दुख और चिंता की बात कोई नहीं हो सकती।

Mahant Narendra Giri Maharaj, the chief of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, a decision making body of sadhus across India, was found mysteriously hanging from a ceiling fan inside his Baghambari Math in Prayagraj on Monday afternoon. The Akhara Parishad is the apex body of 13 recognized akharas (monastic orders) of sadhus in India and it wields considerable influence among large sections of Hindus in northern India.

Police said, a four-sheet suicide note, written on either side, was found from the room, which was locked from inside. In the suicide note, the Mahant accused his discipline Anand Giri for “mentally torturing” him and forcing him to take the extreme step. Anand Giri was immediately picked up by Uttarakhand police from Haridwar. In the suicide note, Mahant Narendra Giri is purported to have written that “I have lived respectfully and want to die respectfully”. A major part of the suicide note, which appears more like a will, mentions which of his disciples should get how much property.

The mahant was involved in a bitter property dispute with his disciple Anand Giri a few months ago which was resolved after intervention of a senior police officer and two politicians. In Haridwar, Anand Giri spoke to the media minutes before he was arrested. He alleged that the mahant did not commit suicide but was murdered. He said, it should be probed how the mahant who never wrote more than a few lines at a time, wrote such a long suicide note.

Mahant Narendra Giri was elected president of Akhara Parishad in 2014 and re-elected five years later in Haridwar. He was close to both BJP and Samajwadi Party politicians. In May this year, he had a public spat with his disciple Anand Giri, known as “chhotey mahant”. Anand Giri was expelled from both Baghambari Math and Niranjani Akhara, on charge of violating the sect’s rules of discontinuing all relations with family members after taking ‘sanyas’. He was also accused of misappropriating temple funds.

On his part, Anand Giri had then sent his own complaint against his guru to the PMO and Uttar Pradesh chief minister. However, after some time, Anand Giri publicly sought forgiveness from his guru by touching his feet. He also tendered apology to the Panch Parameshwar of Shri Panchayati Akhara Niranjani. Mahant Narendra Giri had then forgiven him.

After going through circumstantial evidences, some points are clear. The mahant’s body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a room closed from inside. He had left behind a suicide note, which has been questioned by his disciple, who is now under arrest. The disciple alleges that the mahant was murdered and then his body was hanged from the ceiling to give it the shape of a suicide. The disciple also alleges that the mahant could not have written such a long suicide note, because he could never write more than a few lines. It is also true that the guru and the disciple had a public spat over violation of sect’s rule and misappropriation of funds and properties. It is also true that the disciple had later apologized for his misdemeanours and the guru had forgiven him.

It is now up to the Uttar Pradesh police to probe whether the mahant committed suicide or whether he was murdered. The mahant has also named two other persons in his letter, and they too have been picked up by police. Since the inquiry is in a preliminary stage, nobody can be given a clean chit at this point of time, and the culprits, if any, must be punished. If any person incited the mahant to commit suicide, he must be charged for abetment of suicide. Police must reach the bottom of the truth at the earliest. The mahant had a large following and was widely respected. The community of saints shows the right path to millions of people and if a revered saint either commits suicide or was murdered, then it is a matter of grief and concern for the entire society.

प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के 71 वें जन्मदिन पर देश के लाखों स्वास्थ्यकर्मियों ने उन्हें अनमोल तोहफा दिया। इन स्वास्थ्यकर्मियों ने एक दिन में सबसे ज्यादा कोविड वैक्सीनेशन का वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड बना दिया। जैसे ही रात में घड़ी की सुई 12 पर पहुंची, देशभर में 2.5 करोड़ से ज्यादा (2,50,07,051) लोगों को वैक्सीन दी जा चुकी थी। इससे पहले चीन ने जून महीने में एक दिन में सबसे ज्यादा 2.47 करोड़ वैक्सीन देने का वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड बनाया था। देश में 17 सितंबर को वैक्सीनेशन ने रफ्तार पकड़ी और देश में कुल वैक्सीन की डोज लेनेवालों की संख्या बढ़कर 79.33 करोड़ तक पहुंच गई। वैक्सीनेशन के मामले में भारत ने अब यूरोप को पीछे छोड़ दिया है। यूरोप में अबतक जितने लोगों को वैक्सीन दी जा चुकी है उससे ज्यादा लोग भारत में वैक्सीन ले चुके हैं। भारत में रोजाना वैक्सीनेशन पिछले 30 दिनों में चौथी बार एक करोड़ को आंकड़े को पार कर गया है।

प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने ट्वीट कर कहा कि शुक्रवार को वैक्सीनेशन की रफ्तार औसतन 15.62 लाख डोज प्रति घंटे, 26 हजार डोज प्रति मिनट और 434 डोज प्रति सेकंड रही। कर्नाटक में सबसे ज्यादा 26.9 लाख डोज, बिहार में 26.6 लाख डोज, यूपी में 24.8 लाख से ज्यादा डोज, मध्य प्रदेश में 23.7 लाख डोज और गुजरात में 20.4 लाख डोज दी गई।

इस उपलब्धि की तारीफ करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने कहा-‘ हर भारतीय को आज रिकॉर्ड संख्या में किए गए टीकाकरण की संख्या पर गर्व होगा। मैं टीकाकरण अभियान को सफल बनाने के लिए डॉक्टर्स, प्रशासकों, नर्सों, हेल्थ केयर और सभी फ्रंटलाइन वर्कर्स की सराहना करता हूं। हम कोविड 19 को हराने के लिए टीकाकरण को बढ़ावा देते रहें।’

नरेंद्र मोदी के कट्टर आलोचक माने जानेवाले कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी ने ट्टीट किया, ‘उम्मीद करता हूं कि और दिनों में भी रोजाना वैक्सीन की 2.1 करोड़ खुराक दी जाएगी। हमारे देश को इसी गति की जरूरत है।’ स्वास्थ्य मंत्री मनसुख मंडाविया ने इसे ‘भारत और विश्व इतिहास का एक सुनहरा अध्याय’ बताया। विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन के दक्षिण पूर्व एशिया के रीजनल ऑफिस की ओर से ट्वीट किया गया-‘भारत को एक और उपलब्धि के लिए बधाई’।

कुल मिलाकर, भारत को वैक्सीनेशन का 10 करोड़ का आंकड़ा छूने में 85 दिन लगे, 20 करोड़ का आंकड़ा पार करने में 45 दिन और 30 करोड़ के आंकड़े तक पहुंचने में 29 दिन और लगे। 40 करोड़ के आंकड़े तक पहुंचने में 24 दिन और लगे, और 50 करोड़ का आंकड़ा पार करने में 20 दिन, 60 करोड़ का आंकड़ा पार करने में 19 दिन और 70 करोड़ के आंकड़े तक पहुंचने में केवल 13 दिन लगे। देश ने 13 सितंबर को 75 करोड़ का आंकड़ा पार कर लिया था। देश में 16 जनवरी को सबसे पहले हेल्थकेयर वर्कर्स के लिए वैक्सीनेशन अभियान शुरू किया गया था जबकि फ्रंटलाइन वर्कर्स के लिए 2 फरवरी को वैक्सीनेशन शुरू हुआ। इसके बाद 45 वर्ष से ज्यादा उम्र के लोगों के लिए वैक्सीनेशन अभियान 1 अप्रैल को शुरू हुआ था। 18 वर्ष से ज्यादा उम्र के हर शख्स के लिए वैक्सीनेश का अभियान 1 मई को शुरू किया गया था।

पिछले साल मार्च महीने में जब देश में कोरोना वायरस ने पांव पसारना शुरू किया तो किसी ने सपने में भी नहीं सोचा था कि भारत खुद कोरोना वैक्सीन बना सकता है। लोग सोचते थे कि अमेरिका अपनी वैक्सीन बनाएगा। पहले अपने लोगों को लगाएगा और फिर जैसा होता आया है, बची हुई वैक्सीन हमें देगा। नरेंद्र मोदी ने इस पूरी सोच को बदल दिया। वे खुद व्यक्तिगत तौर पर पुणे, गुजरात और हैदराबाद गए और उन्होंने वैक्सीन बनाने वाली कंपनियों को हौसला दिया। उन्होंने इन कंपनियों को सहायता दी और इसका नतीजा ये हुआ कि देखते ही देखते दो वैक्सीन, कोविशील्ड और कोवैक्सिन उपयोग के लिए तैयार हो गई। वैक्सीन बनने से पहले ही वैक्सीनेशन के लिए हेल्थ वर्कर्स की बड़े पैमाने पर ट्रेनिंग हुई।

वैक्सीन स्टोर करने, ट्रांसपोर्ट और सीरींज उपलब्ध करने का पूरा प्लान एडवांस में बनाया गया और जब वैक्सीन आ गई तो सबसे पहले हेल्थ वर्कर्स को वैक्सीन लगाने का फैसला हुआ। आपको हैरानी होगी कि पहले दौर में हेल्थ वर्कर्स भी वैक्सीनेशन के लिए पूरी तरह आगे नहीं आए थे। इनमें कुछ डॉक्टर्स और नर्सें भी थीं। ये लोग वैक्सीन लेने से झिझक रहे थे। इन लोगों को वैक्सीन लगाने की प्रक्रिया बहुत धीमी गति से चली और आगे चलकर धीरे-धीरे इसे जनता के लिए भी खोल दिया गया। शुरुआत में वरिष्ठ नागरिकों और गंभीर बीमारी से पीड़ित लोगों को वैक्सीनेशन में प्राथमिकता दी गई।

जब जनता के लिए वैक्सीन लगाने का काम शुरू हुआ तो अफवाहें फैलने लगी। किसी ने कहा कि पूरे ट्रायल के बगैर ही वैक्सीन को मार्केट में आने दिया गया। किसी ने कहा कि यह ‘बीजेपी की वैक्सीन’ है। किसी ने मुसलमानों में अफवाह फैलाई कि इसमें सुअर की चर्बी मिली हुई है। इसका नतीजा ये हुआ कि कई राज्यों के गांव-देहात में लोग वैक्सीन लगाने के लिए पहुंचे हेल्थ वर्कर्स को मारने के लिए दौड़ते थे। हेल्थ वर्कर्स को जान बचाकर भागना पड़ता था। लेकिन हेल्थ वर्कर्स, खासतौर से आशा वर्कर्स ने काफी मेहनत की और ग्रामीणों को वैक्सीनेशन के लिए समझाने के प्रयासों में लगी रहीं।

इस साल अप्रैल-मई में जब कोरोना की दूसरी लहर आई तो लोग बड़ी संख्या में कोरोना के शिकार हुए। लाखों लोग कोरोना से संक्रमित हुए। अस्पतालों में बेड नहीं मिल रहे थे। जरूरी दवाएं और ऑक्सीजन कम पड़ने लगी। अस्पतालों के मुर्दाघर, श्मशान, कब्रिस्तान में लाशों के ढेर लगने लगे तो लोग डरे और तेजी से वैक्सीन के लिए दौड़े। उस समय एक साथ वैक्सीन की मांग काफी बढ़ गई। लोग जल्दी वैक्सीन लगवाना चाहते थे। मांग की तुलना में उत्पादन नहीं था तो लोग परेशान और नाराज हुए।

दरअसल, वैक्सीन का उत्पादन एक जटिल प्रक्रिया है। वैक्सीन निर्माताओं ने भी ये उम्मीद नहीं की थी कि मांग अचानक इतनी बढ़ जाएगी। राज्य सरकारें अब ज्यादा से ज्यादा वैक्सीन की मांग कर रही थीं वहीं कुछ राज्यों में निचले स्तर की राजनीति भी शुरू हो गई। कुछ गैर-बीजेपी शासित राज्य सरकारों ने आरोप लगाया कि केंद्र बीजेपी शासित और गैर-बीजेपी शासित राज्यों के बीच भेदभाव कर रहा है।

अगस्त तक वैक्सीन का उत्पादन बढ़ा और साथ ही वैक्सीनेशन के आंकड़े भी बढ़ते गए। मुझे याद है 27 अगस्त को देश में 1 करोड़ 8 लाख डोज़ लगाई गई थी और 31 अगस्त को यह आंकड़ा 1 करोड़ 41 लाख डोज तक पहुंच गया। शुक्रवार को यह आंकड़ा 2.5 करोड़ के शिखर पर पहुंच गया। यह प्रक्रिया अभी-भी जारी है और जिन लोगों को अभी भी भारत की वैक्सीनेशन क्षमता को लेकर संदेह है या जो लोग इस उपलब्धि को कम करके बताना चाहते हैं उन्हें मैं कुछ आंकड़े समझना चाहता हूं।

दुनिया भर में 175 देश ऐसे हैं जिनकी जनसंख्या 2 करोड़ से कम है यानि शुक्रवार को एक दिन में जितने लोगों को वैक्सीन दी गई वह 175 देशों की आबादी से ज्यादा है।

दूसरी बात, 79 करोड़ से ज्यादा लोगों को वैक्सीन की डोज देकर वैक्सीनेशन के मामले में भारत दुनिया के देशों में नंबर एक पर है। वहीं डबल डोज के मामले में भी भारत दुनिया में नंबर वन पर है। देश में 18 करोड़ 80 लाख लोगों को डबल डोज दी जा चुकी है। दूसरे नंबर पर अमेरिका है जहां 18 करोड़ लोगों को वैक्सीन की डबल डोज लगी है। इसके अलावा ब्राजील में साढ़े 7 करोड़, जापान में साढ़े 6 करोड़, जर्मनी में 5 करोड़ 20 लाख, इंग्लैंड में 4 करोड़ 40 लाख और फ्रांस में 4 करोड़ 30 लाख लोगों को डबल डोज दी जा चुकी है।

इसलिए कोविड वैक्सीनेशन में देश ने जो हासिल किया है उसे कम करके आंकना ठीक नहीं है। वैक्सीन अब पर्याप्त मात्रा में उपलब्ध है और नवंबर तक 100 करोड़ लोगों को वैक्सीन की डोज लग जाएगी। ये भारत जैसे बड़े देश की बड़ी विजय है।

On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 71st birthday, millions of health care workers of India gave him a priceless birthday gift. They set a world record for the fastest single day Covid vaccination drive. As the clock struck 12 at midnight, more than 2.5 crore (2,50,07,051) vaccination doses were given across the length and breadth of India.
The earlier world record of 2.47 crore single day vaccination was set by China in June this year. The vaccination number in India on September 17 went up continuously through the day with the cumulative number of doses administered in India to 79.33 crore. India has now crossed Europe in the total number of doses administered so far. The daily vaccinations in India has crossed one crore for the fourth time in the last 30 days.
The speed of vaccination on Friday averaged 15.62 lakh doses per hour, 26,000 doses per minute and 434 doses per second, said Prime Minister Modi in a tweet. Karnataka led the nation administering the highest number of over 26.9 lakh doses on Friday, followed by Bihar with 26.6 lakh doses, UP with over 24.8 lakh doses, Madhya Pradesh with 23.7 lakh doses, and Gujarat with over 20.4 lakh doses.
Hailing this achievement, PM Narendra Modi said: ”Every Indian would be proud of today’s record vaccination numbers. I acknowledge our doctors, innovators, administrators, nurses, health care and all frontline workers who have toiled to make the vaccination drive a success. Let us keep boosting vaccination to defeat Covid-19”.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, a staunch critic of Modi, tweeted: ”Looking forward to many more days of 2.1 crore vaccinations. This pace is what our country needs.” Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya described it as “a golden chapter in Indian and world history”. The World Health Organisation’s Southeast Asia regional office tweeted: “Congratulations India for yet another milestone!”.
Overall, India took 85 days to touch the 10-crore mark, 45 more days to cross 20-crore, and 29 more days to reach 30 crore mark. It took 24 more days to reach 40 crore mark, and 20 more days to cross 50 crore mark, 19 more days to cross 60 crore, and only 13 days to reach 70 crore mark. The 75-crore mark was crossed on September 13.
India rolled out its vaccination drive on January 16 inoculating health care workers, while vaccination of frontline workers began on February 2. Vaccination drive for people aged over 60 years and for those above 45 years with morbidities, began on March 1. Vaccination of all Indians above age 45 years began on April 1. Vaccination drive for every one aged above 18 years was launched on May 1.
When Coronavirus spread across India in March last year, nobody dreamed that India could produce its own Covid vaccine. Many people thought the US would lead by producing vaccines, get Americans inoculated and then send vaccine doses to India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi changed the entire thought process. He personally went to Pune, Gujarat and Hyderabad and encouraged Covid vaccine manufacturers to ramp up production, provided fullest support from the Centre, and very soon, India had two vaccines – Covishield and Covaxin – ready for use. Health workers across the length and breadth of India were trained how to keep the vaccines in protected conditions and administer them under strict protocol.
The plan for storing and transporting vaccine vials along with injections was prepared in advance. Healthcare workers were given first priority for inoculation, and you would be surprised to know, many of the healthcare workers, including some doctors and nurses, at that time hesitated. The process went on at a snail’s pace, and gradually it was opened up to the public, with senior citizens given priority.
Rumours were spread in abundance. Some said, the vaccines were not prepared without adequate trials. Some political leaders labelled it as “BJP vaccine”. Some busybodies spread rumours among Muslims that pig fat has been used to manufacture the vaccine.
The result was, in several states, people in villages and small towns, menacingly threatened, and in some cases, beat up healthcare workers who had gone for vaccination drive. Healthcare workers had to run for their lives. Yet, lower level healthcare workers, particularly ASHA workers, persisted in their efforts to inoculate villagers.
When the deadly second wave of pandemic came in April and May this year, millions were infected with Coronavirus, hospitals ran out of beds, vital medicines and oxygen supply, and bodies of Covid victims piled up in mortuaries, crematoriums and burial grounds. A frantic populace yearned for vaccines. The demand for vaccines suddenly shot up, but the vaccine production rate was limited.
Vaccine production is a complicated process. The manufacturers had not anticipated a sudden hike in demand. State governments were now demanding more and more vaccines, and some stooped to low-level politics. Some non-BJP state governments alleged that the Centre was discriminating between BJP-ruled and non-BJP-ruled states.
By August, vaccine production picked up, and simultaneously, vaccination figures went up. India crossed daily 1 crore (1.08 crore) vaccination figure on August 27, and 1.41 crore on August 31. The peak of 2.5 crore was reached on Friday. The process still continues and for those who are still sceptic about India’s vaccination capability, I want to cite some facts and figures.
First, there are 175 countries in the world with a total population of less than 2 crore. In other words, the number of Indians vaccinated on Friday surpasses the total population of 175 countries.
Second, by administering doses to 79 crore Indians, India is now Number 1 in the list of countries with vaccinated population. Even in the list of people who have had double doses, India is still No.1 with 18.8 crore people who have been given double doses. USA is second with 18 crore Americans having double doses. In the list, there is Brazil with 7.5 crore, Japan 6.5 crore, Germany 5.2 crore, United Kingdom 4.4 crore, France 4.3 crore people who have been administered double doses.
Hence it is not justified to underestimate India’s achievement in Covid vaccination. Vaccines are now available aplenty, and by November, India will have administered 100 crore doses to its people.

आजाद भारत के इतिहास में पहली बार ऐसा हुआ है कि पूरा का पूरा मंत्रिमंडल ही बदल दिया गया और नई कैबिनेट में ज्यादातर नए चेहरों को जगह मिली। यह अनोखा प्रयोग मंगलवार को गुजरात में हुआ। बीजेपी ने रूपाणी कैबिनेट के सभी 22 मंत्रियों को हटा दिया और उनकी जगह 24 नए मंत्रियों ने शपथ ली। इनमें अधिकांश नए चेहरे ऐसे थे जो पहली बार विधायक बने हैं।

जिन मंत्रियों को हटाया गया उनमें कई पुराने कार्यकर्ता और बीजेपी के बड़े-बड़े प्रभावशाली नेता हैं। उपमुख्यमंत्री नितिन पटेल, प्रदीप सिंह जडेजा, सौरव पटेल, भूपेन्द्र सिंह चुडास्मा, कौशिक पटेल, दिलीप ठाकोर, जयेश रादडिया, आरसी फालदू जैसे तमाम दिग्गज नेताओं का पत्ता कट गया। इन राजनीतिक हस्तियों का न केवल अपने निर्वाचन क्षेत्र में बल्कि पूरे इलाके में जबरदस्त प्रभाव है। इनमें से कई नेताओं का नाम तो रविवार को उस वक्त तक मुख्यमंत्री पद के लिए लिया जा रहा था जब अचानक भूपेंद्र पटेल को विधायक दल का नेता चुन लिया गया।

ऐसे राजनीतिक दिग्गजों को कैबिनेट से हटाना, उन्हें समझाना, मनाना और पद छोड़ने के लिए राजी करना कोई आसान काम नहीं था। इनमें से हर नेता ने अपनी पूरी उम्र सियासत में निकाल दी। इनके पास गुजरात में दो दशकों से ज्यादा भाजपा के शासन का अनुभव था। ऐसे में अनुभवी और असरदार नेताओं को हटाकर पूरे मंत्रिमंडल का चेहरा बदल देना, ये बहुत बड़ा प्रयोग है। मुख्यमंत्री समेत सारे मंत्रिमंडल को एक साथ बदलने का काम पहली बार हुआ है, इसलिए राजनीति के पंडित हैरान हैं। इतने ताकतवर नेताओं को हटाकर जिन्हें मंत्री बनाया गया उनमें मुख्यमंत्री समेत करीब एक दर्जन विधायक ऐसे हैं जिन्हें सरकार चलाने का कोई अनुभव नहीं है।

गांधीनगर में जब गुजरात के राज्यपाल ने नए मंत्रियों को शपथ दिलाई तो समारोह में मौजूद, नए मंत्री, पूर्व मंत्री समेत सभी लोग हैरत में थे। पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री विजय रूपाणी और पूर्व उपमुख्यमंत्री नितिन पटेल तो सबसे पहले राजभवन पहुंचने वाले लोगों में शामिल थे। राज्यपाल आचार्य देवव्रत ने 10 कैबिनेट और 14 राज्यमंत्रियों को शपथ दिलाई। 14 राज्य मंत्रियों में 5 के पास स्वतंत्र प्रभार रहेगा। जिन विधायकों को मंत्री बनाया गया है उनमें से सिर्फ 3 राजेंद्र त्रिवेदी, राघो जी पटेल और किरीट सिंह राणा ऐसे हैं जो इससे पहले मंत्री रह चुके हैं। बाकी के 21 विधायक पहली बार मंत्री बने हैं। राजेंद्र त्रिवेदी को मंत्री पद की शपथ लेने के लिए मंगलवार को स्पीकर के पद से इस्तीफा देना पड़ा था। वहीं जीतू वघानी भी पहली बार मंत्री बने हैं। वे इससे पहले बीजेपी के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष रह चुके हैं।

भूपेंद्र पटेल के मंत्रिमंडल में पटेल समाज को सबसे ज्यादा प्रतिनिधित्व मिला है। मुख्यमंत्री भूपेंद्र पटेल खुद पाटीदार समाज से आते हैं और उनकी कैबिनेट में पाटीदार यानी पटेल समुदाय के 8 मंत्री बनाए गए हैं। ओबीसी (अन्य पिछड़ा वर्ग) कैटेगरी में आने वाले कोली, ठाकोर और क्षत्रिय समाज से 8 मंत्रियों को जगह दी गई है। अनुसूचित जाति और ब्राह्मण समाज से 2-2 मंत्री बनाए गए हैं। एक मंत्री जैन समुदाय का भी बनाया गया है। अगर क्षेत्र के हिसाब से देखें तो सौराष्ट्र, दक्षिण गुजरात और मध्य गुजरात से सात-सात नेताओं को मंत्रिमंडल में शामिल किया गया है जबकि उत्तर गुजरात से 3 मंत्रियों को शपथ दिलाई गई है।

आमतौर पर मंत्रिमंडल में जातिगत समीकरण और क्षेत्रीय संतुलन देखे जाते हैं। यह दशकों से चला आ रहा परंपरागत तरीका है। लेकिन इस परंपरा को गुजरात कैबिनेट गठन में तोड़ दिया गया। बीजेपी में सिर्फ 2 अहीर विधायक हैं और दोनों रूपाणी कैबिनेट में मंत्री थे। लेकिन पूरी कैबिनेट को बदलने के चलते इन दोनों का भी मंत्री पद चला गया।

प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने शपथ ग्रहण के बाद नए मंत्रियों को ट्वीट करके बधाई दी। प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने ट्वीट में लिखा-‘गुजरात सरकार में मंत्री पद की शपथ लेनेवाले पार्टी के सभी साथियों को बधाई। ये वे उत्कृष्ट कार्यकर्ता हैं जिन्होंने सार्वजनिक सेवा और पार्टी के विकास के एजेंडे को बढ़ाने में अपना जीवन समर्पित किया है। उन्हें आनेवाले कार्यकाल के लिए शुभकामनाएं।’

अपने करियर में मैंने बहुत से मंत्रिमंडल बनते और मुख्यमंत्री बदलते देखे, लेकिन ये पहली बार देखा कि मुख्यमंत्री के साथ-साथ सारे मंत्रियों को बदल दिया गया। ऐसा पहले कभी नहीं हुआ। असल में ऐसा फैसला करने के लिए बहुत हिम्मत और मजबूत इरादा चाहिए। ऐसे फैसले को लागू करने के लिए दृढ़ इच्छाशक्ति और राजनीतिक साहस की जरूरत होती है, और ये काम सिर्फ नरेंद्र मोदी जैसा लीडर ही कर सकता है।

मंत्रिमंडल बनाने में सौ तरह के झंझट होते हैं। तमाम तरह के गुणा-भाग और अन्य समीकरणों को ध्यान में रखना पड़ता है। कौन पार्टी का कितना पुराना लीडर है। कहीं कोई मंत्री ना बनाए जाने से नाराज होकर पार्टी छोड़ तो नहीं जाएगा? किसके साथ कितने विधायक हैं। कहीं कोई कैबिनेट में शामिल नहीं किए जाने से नाराज होने के बाद चुनाव में नुकसान तो नहीं पहुंचाएगा? कौन सा नेता किस जाति का है और किस जाति का कितना प्रभाव है। जिस नेता को ड्रॉप किया जा रहा है वो किस इलाके से आता है। उस इलाके में उस नेता का असर कैसा है? पार्टी का उस नेता के इलाके में सपोर्ट बेस क्या है। अगर ज्यादा है तो कम होने का डर और अगर कम है तो न बढ़ने का खतरा, बहुत सारी बातें देखनी पड़ती हैं। लेकिन नरेंद्र मोदी ने ऐसी किसी बात की परवाह नहीं की।

नरेंद्र मोदी 13 साल तक गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री रहे और 7 साल से देश के प्रधानममंत्री हैं। गुजरात की राजनीति में वो सबको जानते हैं। वह गुजरात के हर नेता और प्रमुख पार्टी कार्यकर्ता को जानते हैं। जिन 22 मंत्रियों को हटाया गया है उनमें से कई मोदी के करीबी रहे हैं। कितनों ने मोदी के साथ काम किया है और वो मोदी के खासम-खास माने जाते थे।

लेकिन अपने करीबियों को भी मंत्री पद से हटाने के लिए जो साहस चाहिए वो हर किसी में नहीं होता। मोदी में वह साहस है। मोदी ने कभी ऐसी बातों की परवाह नहीं की कि कौन करीब है और कौन दूर है। जहां तक सरकार चलाने के लिए अनुभव की बात है तो जब 2001 में नरेंद्र मोदी गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री बने थे तो खुद उन्हें भी सरकार चलाने का कोई अनुभव नहीं था। जब उन्हें सीएम बनाया गया तो उससे पहले वे विधायक तो छोड़िए, कभी कॉरपोरेटर, पार्षद या सांसद भी नहीं रहे थे। उस समय उन्हें व्यावहारिक तौर पर कोई ऐसी जानकारी नहीं थी कि नौकरशाही कैसे काम करती है।

नरेंद्र मोदी सीधे मुख्यमंत्री बने और वह भी केशुभाई पटेल जैसे अनुभवी और कद्दावर नेता को हटाकर उन्हें सीएम की कुर्सी सौंपी गई। इसके बाद नरेंद्र मोदी ने कभी पीछे मुड़कर नहीं देखा। उन्होंने अपनी पार्टी को नई ऊंचाइयों तक पहुंचाया। लेकिन ये कहते वक्त यह भी ध्यान रखना पड़ेगा कि हर कोई मोदी नहीं होता, न हो सकता है। हर किसी में मोदी जैसी हिम्मत, मोदी जैसा विजन नहीं होता। नरेंद्र मोदी ने पूरी कैबिनेट को बदलकर देश की राजनीति में एक नया अध्याय जोड़ा है। उन्होंने एक नए इतिहास की इबारत लिखी है। इसका देश की राजनीति पर दूरगामी असर होगा।

For the first time in the history of independent India, an entire cabinet was dropped and was replaced by ministers, most of them first-timers. This novel experiment took place on Tuesday in Gujarat. Twenty-four “new faces”, most of them first-time MLAs, were sworn in, replacing all 22 ministers of the erstwhile Vijay Rupani cabinet.

Among the ministers dropped were several heavyweights, like former deputy CM Nitin Patel, Pradipsinh Jadeja, Saurabh Patel, Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Kaushik Patel, Dilip Thakore, Jayesh Radadia and R C Faldu. These political heavyweights commanded tremendous influence not only in their constituency but in the entire region, and several of them were in the running for the post of Chief Minister, when Bhupendra Patel was suddenly selected for the job on Sunday.

To remove such political heavyweights from the cabinet and persuading them to quit was a tough job. Each one of them had decades of experience in governance during more than two decades of BJP’s rule in Gujarat. Political pundits are stunned over the sudden replacement of the entire cabinet. Among the newcomers, nearly a dozen ministers, including the Chief Minister, are first-time legislators, who have no experience in governance.

At the oath taking ceremony in Gandhinagar, most of the new ministers and former ministers along with other guests looked surprised over the new development. Former CM Vijay Rupani and former deputy CM Nitin Patel were among the first to arrive at the Raj Bhavan. Ten ministers of cabinet rank and 14 ministers of state, among them five with independent charge, were sworn in. Among the new ministers, three, Rajendra Trivedi, Raghavji Patel and Kirit Singh Rana, had been ministers in the past. The remaining 21 have become ministers for the first time. Rajendra Trivedi had to resign from the post of Speaker on Tuesday, to take oath as a minister. Jitu Vaghani, a first timer, has been the state party unit chief.

The Patel community has been given the largest representation in the cabinet. There are eight ministers from Patidar Patel community apart from the CM, who himself hails from Patidar community. Eight ministers from OBC (other backward classes) have been inducted from Koli, Thakore and Kshatriya caste groups. Two each have been inducted from scheduled caste and Brahmins, and one from Jain community. Region wise, there are seven ministers each from Saurashtra, central and south Gujarat, and three from north Gujarat.

Normally, composing a cabinet based on region and caste is the traditional method, followed since decades, but this time, the Ahir community lost its representation because of replacement of all ex-ministers. There are only two Ahir MLAs in BJP, and both were ministers in Rupani cabinet. Both of them have been dropped.
In his congratulatory tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said: “Congratulations to all Party colleagues who have taken oath as Ministers in the Gujarat Government. These are outstanding Karyakartas who have devoted their lives to public service and spreading our Party’s development agenda. Best wishes for a fruitful tenure ahead.”

In my career, I have seen many chief ministers replaced by their party leaderships, but this is the first time that the entire cabinet including the chief minister was replaced. This has never happened before. One requires strong will power and political courage to implement such a decision. Only a leader of Narendra Modi’s calibre can make such an audacious experiment.
Making a cabinet is not an easy task. Several permutations and combinations are kept in mind while forming a cabinet. While dropping some one with experience, one has to take into account whether the leader may quit the party in a huff. One should also keep in mind whether by dropping a minister, supporters in his constituency may take up a warring path. The support base of a leader is weighed before he or she is made a minister. But Narendra Modi did not bother at all about such ifs and buts.
Modi was chief minister of Gujarat for 13 years. He has been prime minister for the last seven years. He knows each and every leader and prominent party worker in Gujarat. He personally knows all the 22 ministers who were dropped. Several of them are still close to him and had worked with him when he was the CM.

Not every leader can muster courage to drop ministers who are supposed to be very close. Modi has that courage. He did not bother, which leader was close to him and who was not. As far as experience in governance is concerned, Modi himself had no such experience when he was made the CM in 2001. He was never a corporator, a councillor, an MLA or an MP when he was made the CM. At that time, he had practically no insider knowledge about how a bureaucracy functions.

Modi was made the CM by removing a heavyweight politician with decades of experience like Keshubhai Patel. Once Modi was made CM, he never looked back. He took his party to newer heights. While saying this, one has to exercise some caution. Not every person can become a Narendra Modi. One may require vision and courage to match him. Modi has added a new chapter to India’s legislative history by replacing an entire cabinet. This is bound to have repercussions on Indian politics, in future.

पंजाब कांग्रेस के अध्यक्ष नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू ने केंद्र के नए कृषि कानूनों के बारे में एक ऐसा खुलासा किया है, जो पिछले 9 महीनों से आंदोलन कर रहे किसान नेताओं को चौंका कर रख देगा। सिद्धू ने अनजाने में वह काम कर दिया जो कांग्रेस और बीजेपी नेता अब तक नहीं कर पाए थे। सिद्धू ने खुलासा किया कि 2013 में पंजाब में तत्कालीन प्रकाश सिंह बादल की अकाली-बीजेपी गठबंधन सरकार ने सूबे की विधानसभा में जो कृषि कानून पेश किए थे, वे केंद्र के नए कृषि कानूनों से काफी मेल खाते हैं।

सिद्धू ने कहा कि नए कृषि कानूनों के ‘नीति-निर्माता’ बादल (प्रकाश सिंह और सुखबीर सिंह) थे। उन्होंने पंजाब कॉन्ट्रैक्ट फार्मिंग ऐक्ट और कॉन्ट्रैक्ट फार्मिंग पर केंद्र के कानून के बीच कई समानताएं गिनाईं। उन्होंने नए कृषि कानूनों की तारीफ करते हुए प्रकाश सिंह बादल, सुखबीर बादल और हरसिमरत कौर बादल के वीडियो भी दिखाए।

सिद्धू ने कहा, नए कृषि कानूनों की नीति, अवधारणा और ढांचा बादल परिवार के दिमाग की उपज थी, केंद्र सरकार ने तो सिर्फ इस कानून की नकल की थी। सिद्धू ने कहा, ‘इसका बीज उन्होंने (बादल ने) बोया था, यह उनका आइडिया था जिसे पहले पंजाब में लागू किया गया, और फिर वे इसे पूरे भारत में लागू करवाने के लिए बीजेपी के पास ले गए। अगर पंजाब कॉन्ट्रैक्ट फार्मिंग ऐक्ट आत्मा है, तो मोदी सरकार का कृषि कानून सिर्फ इसका शरीर है।’

सिद्धू ने कहा कि पश्चिमी उत्तर प्रदेश, हरियाणा और पंजाब में इन कानूनों के खिलाफ आंदोलन कर रहे संयुक्त किसान मोर्चा के किसान नेताओं को यह बात मालूम होनी चाहिए कि पंजाब में कॉन्ट्रैक्ट फार्मिंग से जुड़े कानून का खाका पंजाब में अकाली सरकार ने तैयार किया था। सिद्धू ने अकाली दल को ‘किसानों का दुश्मन’ करार देते हुए कहा कि ‘अपने पापों को छिपाने के लिए’ अकाली दल ने इस मुद्दे पर केंद्र की एनडीए सरकार से अपना नाता तोड़ लिया, लेकिन यह कड़वी सच्चाई छिपी नहीं रह सकी।

सिद्धू ने जो कहा वह सही है। पंजाब कॉन्ट्रैक्ट फार्मिंग कानून को बादल सरकार ने 2013 में पंजाब विधानसभा में पेश किया था, और यह पास भी हो गया था। सबसे ज्यादा हैरानी बात तो यह है कि इस बात का जिक्र न तो पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह ने किया और न ही शिरोमणि अकाली दल के प्रमुख सुखबीर सिंह बादल और हरसिमरत कौर ने। यहां तक कि किसान नेताओं राकेश टिकैत और गुरनाम सिंह चढूनी भी अपनी जनसभाओं में इस पर कभी नहीं बोले।

सिद्धू ने तत्कालीन बादल सरकार द्वारा बनाए गए पंजाब कॉन्ट्रैक्ट फार्मिंग ऐक्ट की प्रतियां दिखाईं। उन्होंने कहा कि इस ऐक्ट के सेक्शन में MSP (न्यूनतम समर्थन मूल्य) का कोई जिक्र नहीं है। उन्होंने कहा कि खरीदार के पास MSP या बाजार (मंडी) मूल्य से कम कीमत पर फसल खरीदने का लाइसेंस है। 2 मुख्य फसलों, गेहूं और चावल सहित 108 फसलों की एक अनुसूची को ऐक्ट में शामिल किया गया था। आम तौर पर पंजाब में गेहूं और चावल की खरीद केंद्र द्वारा MSP रेट पर की जाती है।

सिद्धू ने कहा कि बिल के सेक्शन 4 में कॉन्ट्रैक्ट के उल्लंघन के मामलों को नौकरशाहों द्वारा देखने का प्रावधान है। इसकी वजह से किसान कॉन्ट्रैक्ट का उल्लंघन होने पर अदालतों का दरवाजा नहीं खटखटा सकते हैं। इस बिल में किसानों पर 5,000 रुपये से लेकर 5 लाख रुपये तक के जुर्माने और धोखाधड़ी के मामलों में एक महीने की कैद का प्रावधान है। इसमें नौकरशाही को भू-राजस्व के रूप में बकाया वसूल करने का भी अधिकार दिया गया है।

सेक्शन 6 में प्रावधान है कि किसान न तो अपनी जमीन बेच सकता है और न ही इस पर लोन ले सकता है। बिल में कॉरपोरेट्स को किसानों को यह बताने का अधिकार है कि किस बीज का इस्तेमाल करना है और जमीन पर खेती कैसे करनी है। बिल में यह भी प्रावधान है कि कॉरपोरेट्स या उनके एजेंट सीधे किसान के खेत से ही फसल उटा सकते हैं, और इस तरह मंडियों में जाने की जरूरत ही नहीं रह जाएगी।

सिद्धू ने कहा कि केंद्र के अनुबंध कृषि कानून में भी एमएसपी की कोई गारंटी नहीं है, विवादों का निपटारा न्यायपालिका की बजाय नौकरशाहों द्वारा किया जाएगा, दीवानी अदालतों में जाने पर रोक है जो कि संविधान की भावना के खिलाफ है, और इसमें अनिवार्य रजिस्ट्रेशन का प्रावधान है। उन्होंने कहा, ‘केंद्र का कृषि कानून छोटे-मोटे बदलावों के साथ पंजाब के कृषि कानून की कार्बन कॉपी है।’

सिद्धू ने कहा कि केंद्र सरकार जब नया कृषि कानून लेकर आई थी तब अकाली नेताओं ने काफी तेजी दिखाई थी। सर्वदलीय बैठक में सुखबीर सिंह बादल ने विधेयकों का विरोध नहीं किया था, बल्कि उन्होंने तो इनकी तारीफ की थी। केंद्रीय खाद्य प्रसंस्करण मंत्री के रूप में हरसिमरत कौर बादल ने नए कृषि विधेयकों के मसौदे पर दस्तखत किया था।

सिद्धू ने कहा कि शुरुआत में अकाली नेताओं को यह लगता था कि किसानों को नए बिल ठीक से समझ में नहीं आए हैं। लेकिन पंजाब में जनता के भारी दबाव के बाद हरसिमरत कौर को मोदी कैबिनेट से इस्तीफा देना पड़ा। 17 सितंबर को सुखबीर बादल ने यहां तक कहा था कि उनकी पार्टी ने मोदी सरकार से नाता तोड़ा है, लेकिन एनडीए से नहीं।

अब सवाल यह उठता है कि अगर पंजाब की अकाली सरकार द्वारा बनाया गया कृषि कानून वाकई में किसानों के खिलाफ हैं, तो कांग्रेस की सरकार ने उन्हें रद्द क्यों नहीं किया? पंजाब में पिछले पांच साल से कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह की कांग्रेस सरकार है। नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू भी कुछ समय तक इस सरकार में मंत्री रहे हैं। उन्होंने कानून को निरस्त करने की मांग क्यों नहीं की? ये कहना आसान है कि ये कानून अकालियों ने बनवाए थे, ये काले कानून हैं, तो फिर कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह और नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू ने इस कानून को रद्द क्यों नहीं करवाया।

किसान नेताओं को यह समझना होगा कि कृषि कानूनों को लेकर तीनों पार्टियां अंदर से सब एक हैं। इसे अकाली दल ने बनाया, कांग्रेस ने चलाया और बीजेपी ने इसे पूरे देश में आगे बढ़ाया। अकाली दल हो, कांग्रेस हो या बीजेपी हो, ये कानून तो सब बनाना चाहते थे। फर्क सिर्फ इतना है कि बीजेपी आज भी इन कानूनों को डिफेंड कर रही है जबकि इन कानूनों को बनाने और चलाने वाले अकाली दल और कांग्रेस पंजाब में किसानों का मूड देखकर बदल गए हैं।

जहां तक सिद्धू की बात है तो उनका बदलना तो आम आदमी ने कई बार देखा है। देश के लोगों ने उन्हें बीजेपी में रहते हुए कांग्रेस, गांधी परिवार और उसकी नीतियों पर करारा तंज कसते हुए देखा है, लेकिन कांग्रेस का दामन थामते ही वह नरेंद्र मोदी पर हमला बोलने लगे। 2013 में सिद्धू कहते थे कि “ कांग्रेस मुन्नी से ज्यादा बदनाम है, आगे-आगे मनमोहन सिंह और पीछे चोरों की बारात है “, लेकिन अब सिद्धू के सुर बदले हुए हैं।

किसानों को यह बात समझनी होगी कि उनके आंदोलन को सियासत ने पटरी से उतार दिया है। आंदोलन में सियासत जितना ज्यादा घुसती जाएगी, उनका आंदोलन उतना ही कमजोर होता जाएगा। आजकल किसान नेता राकेश टिकैत अपनी जनसभाओं में किसानों की मांगों से ज्यादा राजनीति और राजनेताओं की बात करते हैं। बुधवार को उन्होंने AIMIM नेता असदुद्दीन ओवैसी को ‘बीजेपी का चचाजान’ बता दिया।

उधर, कोलकाता की भवानीपुर सीट से उपचुनाव लड़ रहीं पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी अपने चुनाव प्रचार में किसान आंदोलन को पूरा सपोर्ट देने की बात कर रही हैं। वह ये भी बता रही हैं कि कैसे उन्होंने कई बार किसानों की जनसभाओं को संबोधित किया है और उनके धरने में शामिल होने के लिए अपना प्रतिनिधिमंडल भी भेजा। ममता ने गुरुद्वारों में भी जाना शुरू कर दिया है। ममता यह सब इसलिए कर रही हैं क्योंकि भवानीपुर चुनावक्षेत्र में 40 प्रतिशत गैर बंगाली मतदाता हैं जिनमें ज्यादातर सिख और गुजराती हैं।

कुल मिलाकर बात ये है कि सियासी लीडरान किसानों के कंधे पर बंदूक रखकर अपने विरोधियों पर निशाना साध रहे हैं। ये नेता अपने स्वार्थ साधने के लिए किसानों का इस्तेमाल कर रहे हैं।
