Nitish Kumar took oath for the seventh time as Bihar chief minister on Monday. Twelve other ministers, five each from BJP and Janata Dal (United) and one each from smaller allies, HAM and VIP, took oath at a swearing-in ceremony in Patna. This is a team not picked up by its captain, but a team selected by allies and handed over to the captain.

On the face of it, everything looked cool, but beneath the surface, there were many questions. The first: why was Sushil Kumar Modi, who had always been deputy CM to Nitish Kumar, left out? Speculations are still rife about his future. For the first time, BJP is the bigger party and Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) is a junior partner. Questions are being raised whether Nitish Kumar will have to work under constraints.

Barring one, BJP has picked up all new faces in the ministry. The question arises: what will happen to the experienced leaders in Bihar BJP? On his part, Nitish Kumar has retained old faces as his ministers, and the question is: what will happen to the new crop of leaders in his party?

This is 69-year-old Nitish Kumar’s last innings as chief minister. On Monday, all eyes were on BJP’s two deputy chief ministers Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi, who were sitting on either side of the CM on the dais. They have jointly replaced the former deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, who till now, was a trusted deputy CM of Nitish Kumar and was the main channel of communication between Nitish Kumar and the BJP. After the ceremony, Nitish Kumar was asked whether he feels constrained now, his reply was: “The people have given us the responsibility. We will fulfil it.”

Nitish Kumar is a man of few words and he always speaks carefully. He did not reply to questions about Sushil Kumar Modi. The BJP leadership has kept Sushil Modi away from the state government, but the two persons picked as deputy CMs in his place are said to be his proteges.

Sixty-four-year-old Tarkishore Prasad, belonging to the same Vaishya caste as Sushil Modi, is an old RSS loyalist who has won from Katihar constituency four times. A grassroots level leader, he comes from an areas that adjoins West Bengal. Obviously, the party leadership has the West Bengal elections due next year in mind.

Renu Devi, a former insurance agent, belongs to the Nonia caste, an extremely backward class. She joined the Durga Vahini of Vishwa Hindu Parishad in 1991, when the then CM Lalu Prasad Yadav stopped L K Advani’s rathyatra and arrested him in Samastipur. Later, she joined the BJP and became one of the front rank female leaders. By making her the deputy CM, the party leadership wants to thank women voters who supported the NDA this time.

The message is clear: BJP wants to develop a new leadership in Bihar replacing Sushil Modi. Since Nitish Kumar has already announced that this is his last election, BJP has realized that it would have to fight the 2025 assembly elections alone without depending on any major ally. The central leaders of BJP want the state unit to utilize these five years to develop a strong frontline leadership.

Secondly, the Janatal Dal(U) will have to decide about who will replace Nitish Kumar as successor after five years. With this objective, Nitish has kept caste equations in mind while picking up ministers in his own party. Among them are Vijay Chaudhary, Ashok Chowdhary and Mewalal Chaudhary.

Vijay Chaudhary, one of the closest confidantes of Nitish Kumar, is a Bhumihar and was Speaker in the last assembly. Ashok Chowdhary who left Congress to join JD(U) is a Dalit (Pasi community) and is Nitish’s right hand. Mewalal Chaudhary belongs to the OBC Kushwaha community and is being projected as a counter to Upendra Kushwaha, whose party fared poorly this time.

Sheila Mandal, who was a housewife till last year, was given a party ticket for the first time, and has been made minister. By making her a minister, Nitish wants to thank the women voters who supported him for banning sale of liquor in the state.

Both the BJP and JD(U) are trying to groom their state leaderships for the next five years. This is in complete contrast to Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal, which is banking on a single individual and his family. Tejashwi, his party and all other allies of Mahagathbandhan on Monday boycotted the swearing-in ceremony, alleging what they called ‘betrayal of people’s mandate, which was changed by fraud’.

I feel Tejashwi Yadav should not have boycotted the oath taking ceremony. He should have shown a large heart and a sense of maturity. Victory and defeat are a part of democracy, but personal differences should not lead to personal enmity.

As the leader of 110-strong Mahagathbandhan in the assembly, Tejashwi Yadav has an onerous responsibility before him. As leader of opposition, Tejashwi must point out lapses in the functioning of the government and its policies. His thoughts and ideas should be on a wider level. Tejashwi is only 31 years old and he has a long way to go. He should take his responsibility as opposition leader seriously. He should also take a lesson from those leaders who are in opposition, but do not take their responsibility seriously. Rahul Gandhi is one of them.

इंडियन आर्मी ने शुक्रवार को कश्मीर में नियंत्रण रेखा के पार पाकिस्तानी सेना के बॉर्डर पोस्ट, बंकरों और फ्यूल डंप्स पर जोरदार जवाबी हमला किया। यह पाकिस्तान द्वारा 8 जगहों पर बेमतलब की गई उस भारी गोलाबारी का बदला था, जिसमें भारतीय सेना के 5 जवानों के साथ-साथ एक महिला सहित 5 नागरिकों की जान चली गई। भारतीय सेना के सूत्रों ने देर रात बताया कि जवाबी कार्रवाई में 11 पाकिस्तानी सैनिक मारे गए और 16 अन्य घायल हो गए।

भारतीय सेना के सूत्रों ने आरोप लगाया कि पाकिस्तानी सैनिकों ने बारामूला, डावर, केरन, उरी और नौगाम सेक्टरों में 778 किलोमीटर लंबी LOC पर भारी मोर्टार और अन्य हथियारों के साथ गोलाबारी शुरू कर दी। यह गोलाबारी केरन सेक्टर में पाकिस्तानी आतंकवादियों की घुसपैठ को आसान बनाने के लिए की गई थी, जिसे नाकाम कर दिया गया। पुंछ में पाकिस्तानी सैनिकों द्वारा फॉरवर्ड एरिया में मोर्टार दागे जाने से 5 नागरिक घायल हो गए। सेना के सूत्रों ने बताया कि पाकिस्तान द्वारा की गई गोलाबारी के चलते बांदीपोरा में 2 स्कूली छात्राओं सहित 5 नागरिक घायल हो गए।

भारतीय सेना ने शुक्रवार को 105 मिमी और 155 मिमी की तोपों, एंटी-टैंक गाइडेड मिसाइलों और भारी मोर्टार के साथ जोरदार जवाबी कार्रवाई करते हुए पाकिस्तान की कई निगरानी चौकियों और बंकरों को पूरी तरह तबाह कर दिया। भारतीय सेना द्वारा किए गए इस हमले में पाकिस्तान के हथियार और ईंधन के भंडारों समेत कई आतंकी लॉन्च पैड जमींदोज हो गए। सेना के सूत्रों ने कहा कि पाकिस्तानी रेडियो इंटरसेप्ट्स के मुताबिक, हमले में 11 पाकिस्तानी सैनिक मारे गए जिनमें स्पेशल सर्विस ग्रुप (SSG) के 2 या 3 कमांडो भी शामिल हैं। SSG के कमांडो अक्सर LoC पर हमले करने वाली बॉर्डर ऐक्शन टीम में शामिल होते रहे हैं। सेना के सूत्रों ने कहा कि 10 से 12 पाकिस्तानी घायल भी हुए हैं।

इंडिया टीवी ने अपने प्राइम टाइम शो ‘आज की बात’ में भारतीय सेना द्वारा किए गए टारगेटेड हमले की एक छोटी-सी वीडियो क्लिप दिखाई थी। केरन सेक्टर में घुसपैठ की यह कोशिश इंडियन आर्मी के एक कैप्टन, 2 जवानों और BSF के एक कॉन्स्टेबल की शहादत के 5 दिन बाद की गई। भारत के ये सैनिक घुसपैठ रोकने के प्रयास में वीरगति को प्राप्त हुए थे। सेना के एक प्रवक्ता ने कहा कि शुक्रवार को पाकिस्तान ने उरी से लेकर केरन सेक्टरों तक कई जगहों पर गोलाबारी शुरू कर दी जिसके बाद भारतीय सेना ने उन्हें मुंहतोड़ जवाब दिया।

पाकिस्तानी सेना ने यह बात तो मानी कि भारतीय सैनिकों ने तोपखाने और भारी मोर्टार से हमला कर नीलम घाटी, बाग घाटी और झेलम घाटी में उसकी चौकियों को तबाह कर दिया, लेकिन उसने अपने मारे गए सैनिकों की संख्या कम बताकर हताहतों के असली आंकड़े को छिपाने की कोशिश की। भारतीय सेना द्वारा जारी किए गए वीडियो क्लिप में साफ दिखाई दे रहा है कि हमारे वीर जवानों द्वारा की गई जवाबी कार्रवाई के बाद पाकिस्तानी सैनिक अपनी-अपनी चौकियों से सिर पर पैर रखकर भाग रहे हैं। भारत द्वारा किए गए इस जोरदार हमले में कम से कम 12 पाकिस्तानी बॉर्डर पोस्ट तबाह हो गईं।

पाकिस्तान को बिल्कुल साफ संदेश मिल गया है कि यदि वह सीजफायर का उल्लंघन करेगा तो भारत की तरफ से जोरदार पलटवार होगा। 4 भारतीय जवानों के शहीद होने के बाद भारतीय सेना ने पाकिस्तान को ईंट का जवाब पत्थर से देने का फैसला किया, और यह वजह है कि तोपों के साथ-साथ एंटी टैंक गाइडेड मिसाइलों का भी इस्तेमाल किया गया। भारतीय सेना ने पहले उन जगहों को कैमरे पर रिकॉर्ड किया जहां से छिपकर पाकिस्तानी सैनिक गोलाबारी कर रहे थे, फिर तोपों और गाइडेड मिसाइलों से दुश्मन की चौकियों को निशाना बनाते हुए जोरदार हमला किया। पाकिस्तान द्वारा सुबह की गई गोलाबारी के दौरान जान बचाकर भागती हुए लोगों, जिनमें महिलाएं और बच्चे भी शामिल हैं, के वीडियो भी रिकॉर्ड किए गए।

पाकिस्तान ने पिछले साल के 3,233 सीजफायर उल्लंघन की तुलना में इस साल अब तक कश्मीर में 4,052 बार सीजफायर का उल्लंघन किया है। इस गोलीबारी में अब तक कम से कम 20 आम नागरिकों की मौत हुई है और 47 घायल हुए हैं। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने जवानों के साथ दिवाली मनाने की अपनी परंपरा को लगातार सातवें साल जारी रखते हुए शनिवार को राजस्थान के जैसलमेर सीमा पर लोंगेवाला का दौरा किया। इस मौके पर उनके साथ चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस स्टाफ जनरल बिपिन रावत, आर्मी चीफ जनरल एमएम नरवणे और बीएसएफ चीफ राकेश अस्थाना शामिल थे।

मोदी ने जवानों को दिवाली की मिठाई बांटी और सभी से मुलाकात भी की। प्रधानमंत्री ने सभी देशवासियों से अपील की है कि वे इस दिवाली के दिन सैनिकों के सम्मान में एक दीया जरूर जलाएं। उन्होंने ट्वीट किया, ‘इस दिवाली हम सभी एक दीया उन सैनिकों के सम्मान में जलाएं जो निडर होकर देश की रक्षा करते हैं। सैनिकों की अनुकरणीय बहादुरी के लिए उनके प्रति शब्दों से कृतज्ञता ज्ञापित करने की भावना न्याय नहीं कर सकती। हम सीमाओं पर डटे सैनिकों के परिवार वालों के प्रति भी कृतज्ञ हैं।’

नरेंद्र मोदी देश के ऐसे पहले प्रधानमंत्री हैं जो हर साल दिवाली सैनिकों के साथ मनाते हैं। जब देश का प्रधानमंत्री सीमा पर जवानों के बीच खड़ा होता है, तो प्रत्येक जवान अपने पीछे चट्टान की तरह खड़े 130 करोड़ भारतीयों की ताकत को महसूस करता है। सेना अतीत में भी अदम्य साहस और वीरता का परिचय देती रही है, लेकिन शायद ही कभी इसकी चर्चा होती थी।

नरेंद्र मोदी ने वक्त को बदल दिया है। हमारी फौज पाकिस्तान को सबक सिखाती है, सर्जिकल स्ट्राइक करती है, एयर स्ट्राइक करती है, उसके बंकर उड़ाती है, घर में घुस कर मारती है और फिर आम जनता को इन हमलों के वीडियो भी दिखाती है। हमारी सेना पहली बार बिना कुछ छिपाए पूरी दुनिया को बता रही है कि हम किस तरह अपने दुश्मनों को सबक सिखा रहे हैं। हम दुनिया को बता रहे हैं कि अगर पाकिस्तान सीजफायर के उल्लंघन और आतंकी हमलों को नहीं रोकता है तो हम यूं ही जवाबी कार्रवाई करते रहेंगे।

सवाल ये है कि पाकिस्तान की सेना इतनी परेशान क्यों है कि बार-बार मार खाने के बाद भी सीजफायर वॉयलेशन की हिमाकत करती है। इसकी एक बड़ी बजह तो ये है कि पाकिस्तानी फौज पिछले कई महीनों से घुसपैठ नहीं करवा पा रही है। भारी फायरिंग की आड़ में जब भी घुसपैठियों को हमारी सरहद में घुसाने की कोसिश की गई, उसे हर बार हमारी फौज ने नाकाम कर दिया। ऐसा ही कुछ शुक्रवार को दिवाली के एक दिन पहले हुआ।

पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री इमरान खान बीते कई दिनों से पूरी दुनिया को बता रहे हैं कि भारत, पाकिस्तान के 3 टुकड़े करना चाहता है। पहले ही पाकिस्तान की मिलिटरी लीडरशिप अपने देश की संसद में हुए उस खुलासे को लेकर शर्मिंदा है जिसमें उसके नेताओं ने स्वीकार किया था कि पुलवामा में आतंकी हमला पाकिस्तान ने ही करवाया था और इसके आर्मी जनरलों ने भारत से हमले की धमकी मिलने के बाद विंग कमांडर अभिनंदन को रिहा करने का फैसला किया था। पाकिस्तान को लगता था कि चीन के साथ भारत का टकराव बढ़ेगा तो वह उसका फायदा उठाएगा, लेकिन अब इस बात के आसार हैं कि चीन की फौज अपने सैन्य साजो-सामान के साथ पीछे हट जाएगी। भारत की डिप्लोमैसी की इस कामयाबी ने भी पाकिस्तान को और फ्रस्ट्रेट कर दिया है।

मुझे लग रहा है कि पाकिस्तान बार-बार ये भूल जाता है कि ये नरेंद्र मोदी की लीडरशिप वाला इंडिया है। उसे पता होना चाहिए कि जब भी वह सीजफायर का उल्लंघन करेगा तो भारत जोरदार जवाबी कार्रवाई करेगा। जब भी पाकिस्तान भारत पर गोली बरसाएगा तो भारत उसे घर में घुसकर गोले मारेगा। मुझे लता जी का गाया और प्रदीप जी का लिखा मशहूर गीत ‘ऐ मेरे वतन के लोगों’ याद आ रहा है। उस गाने में कुछ पंक्तियां थीं, ‘जब देश में थी दिवाली, वे खेल रहे थे होली, जब हम बैठे थे घरों में, वे झेल रहे थे गोली।’ इसलिए दिवाली के मौके पर हम एक दीया अपने देश के उन सैनिकों के लिए भी जलाएं जो पूरी लगन के साथ हमारी सरहदों की निगरानी कर रहे हैं। वे वहां डटे हुए हैं, ताकि हम और आप चैन की नींद सो सकें।

Indian army on Friday resorted to punitive assaults on Pakistani army’s border posts, bunkers and fuel dumps across the Line of Control in Kashmir. This was in retaliation over unprovoked shelling at eight places by Pakistan resulting in the death of five army jawans and five civilians, including a woman, in several sectors. Late at night, Indian army sources said, eleven Pakistani soldiers were killed and sixteen others were injured in the retaliatory attacks.

Indian army sources alleged that Pakistani troops started shelling with heavy mortars and other weapons across the 778 kilometre long LOC, in Baramulla, Dawar, Keran, Uri and Nowgam sectors. This shelling was done to facilitate infiltration of Pakistan terrorists in Keran sector, which was foiled. In Poonch, five civilians were injured when Pakistani troops rained mortars in forward areas. Five civilians including two schoolgirls were injured in Pakistani shelling in Bandipora, army sources said.

On Friday, Indian army retaliated with 105 mm and 155 mm artillery guns, anti-tank guided missiles and heavy mortars to blow up Pakistani observation posts and bunkers. Several ammunition and fuel dumps and multiple terror launch pads were destroyed in the Indian attacks.

Army sources said, according to Pakistani radio intercepts, eleven Pakistani soldiers, including two or three Special Service Group commandos, who often take part in Border Action Team cross-LOC attacks were killed in Indian counter attack. Ten to twelve Pakistanis were injured, army sources said.

India TV in its prime time show ‘Aaj Ki Baat’ showed short video clips of the targeted fire assaults. The infiltration bid in Keran sector came five days after an Indian army captain, two jawans and a BSF constable were killed while trying to stop an intrusion attempt. On Friday, Pakistan started shelling from Uri to Keran sectors at several points and the Indian army gave them a befitting response, an army spokesperson said.

The Pakistani army has admitted that Indian troops shelled their posts in Neelum Valley, Jhelum Valley, Bagh Valley and Jhelum valley with artillery and heavy mortars, but tried to conceal the exact number of casualties, by giving meagre numbers.

The video clips released by Indian army clearly show Pakistani soldiers fleeing their posts out of fear, in the face of massive attacks by our brave jawans. At least twelve Pakistani border posts were destroyed in the Indian attack.

The message to Pakistan has clearly gone home: that India will retaliate heavily if Pakistan violates ceasefire rules. After four Indian jawans were martyred, the Indian army decided to repay Pakistan in its own coin, and used artillery guns and anti-tank guided missiles. This was done after Indian army recorded on camera the spots from where Pakistani troops were firing, and then made pinpointed attack on these enemy posts with artillery guns and guided missiles. Videos of women, children and men running for their lives during Pakistani shelling in the morning were also recorded.

Pakistan has committed 4,052 ceasefire violations in Kashmir this year till now compared to 3,233 ceasefire violations last year. As many as 20 civilians have died and 47 were injured on Indian side due to shelling.

Continuing the customary tradition of spending Diwali with jawans for the seventh year in a row, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday visited Longewala on Jaisalmer border in Rajasthan, accompanied by Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat, Army Chief Gen M M Narwane and BSF chief Rakesh Asthana.

Modi distributed Diwali sweets to jawans and met each one of them. The Prime Minister has appealed to all Indians to light a diya on Diwali night as a salute to our jawans. He tweeted: “This Diwali, let us also light a diya as a salute to soldiers who fearlessly protect our nation. Words can’t do justice to the sense of gratitude we have for our soldiers for their exemplary courage. We are also grateful to the families of those on our borders.”

Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister who has been spending Diwali with jawans every year. When a Prime Minister stands among the jawans at the border, every jawan feels the might of 130 crore Indians who stand rock solid behind them. The army used to show exemplary courage and bravery in the past too, but these were hardly made public.

Modi has changed the lexicon. Our army and air force carry out surgical strikes inside enemy territory, blow up Pakistani bunkers and teach the enemy a lesson, and the videos of these attacks are made available to the general public. For the first time, our army has been telling the whole world, without concealing anything, how we have been teaching our enemies a lesson. We have been telling the world that we will retaliate if Pakistan does not cease ceasefire violations and terror attacks.

The question is: why is the Pakistani army so desperate? It has been unable to carry out any major infiltration of terrorists in the last one year. Whenever it provided cover firing to help terrorists infiltrate in Kashmir, our troops have retaliated heavily. The same thing happened on Friday, on the eve of Diwali.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been telling the whole world that India wants to trifurcate Pakistan into three parts. Already, the top military brass in Pakistan is feeling embarrassed after their own politicians revealed in Parliament that Pakistan had carried out the terror attack in Pulwama and its army generals decided to release Wing Commander Abhinandan after India threatened to attack. Pakistan had planned to derive advantage after India was locked in a standoff with China in Ladakh, but after reports came that China has agreed to withdraw its artillery and heavy armoured vehicles from forward areas, the Pakistani army establishment has become frustrated.

I think, the Pakistani establishment frequently forgets that it is Narendra Modi’s India that it is dealing with. It must realize that India will retaliate heavily if it flagrantly violates ceasefire. It must know that Indian armed forces can strike deep inside Pakistan if it brazenly carries out a major terror attack.

I remember the famous song ‘Ai Mere Watan Ke Logon’ sung by Lata Mangeshkar and penned by the great lyricist Pradeep, and the lines “Jab desh me thi Diwali, who khel rahe the Holi, jab hum baithe the gharon me, who jhel rahe the goli”. Come, let us all light a diya tonight as a mark of salute to the Indian jawans who are vigilantly guarding our frontiers. They are there to guard, so that we can sleep in peace.

प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने गुरुवार को जवाहरलाल नेहरू यूनिवर्सिटी में स्वामी विवेकानंद की 13 फीट ऊंची मूर्ति का अनावरण किया। इन दौरान पीएम मोदी ने छात्रों को बताया कि उन्हें राष्ट्रहित को अपनी विचारधारा से ऊपर क्यों रखना चाहिए। मोदी ने जेएनयू छात्रों के जरिए पूरे देश से कहा कि विचारधारा राष्ट्र से बड़ी नहीं होती। राष्ट्र के लिए, राष्ट्रहित के लिए अगर विचारधारा से समझौता करना पड़े तो करिए। राष्ट्र की एकता और देश की भलाई के लिए विचारधारा को छोड़कर सबको साथ आना चाहिए।

पीएम मोदी ने कहा-‘किसी एक बात जिसने हमारे देश की लोकतांत्रिक व्यवस्था को बहुत बड़ा नुकसान पहुंचाया है- वो है राष्ट्रहित से ज्यादा प्राथमिकता अपनी विचारधारा को देना। क्योंकि मेरी विचारधारा ये कहती है, इसलिए देशहित के मामलों में भी मैं इसी सांचे में सोचूंगा, इसी दायरे में काम करूंगा, ये रास्‍ता सही नहीं है दोस्‍तों, ये गलत है। आज हर कोई अपनी विचारधारा पर गर्व करता है। ये स्वाभाविक भी है। लेकिन फिर भी, हमारी विचारधारा राष्ट्रहित के विषयों में, राष्ट्र के साथ नजर आनी चाहिए, राष्ट्र के खिलाफ कतई नहीं।’

उन्होंने छात्रों को याद दिलाया कि कैसे महात्मा गांधी ने स्वतंत्रता के संघर्ष में विभिन्न विचाराधारा के लोगों को एक साथ किया था। उन्होंने विभिन्न मतों के लोगों को अपनी विचारधारा को अलग रखकर स्वतंत्रता के उद्देश्य के लिए प्रेरित किया।

मोदी ने कहा-‘आप देश के इतिहास में देखिए, जब-जब देश के सामने कोई कठिन समस्‍या आई है, हर विचार, हर विचारधारा के लोग राष्ट्रहित में एक साथ आए हैं। आज़ादी की लड़ाई में महात्मा गांधी के नेतृत्व में हर विचारधारा के लोग एक साथ आए थे। उन्होंने देश के लिए एक साथ संघर्ष किया था। ऐसा नहीं था कि बापू के नेतृत्व में किसी व्यक्ति को अपनी विचारधारा छोड़नी पड़ी हो। उस समय परिस्थिति ऐसी थी, तो हर किसी ने देश के लिए एक Common Cause को प्राथमिकता दी।

मोदी ने जेएनयू छात्रों को यह भी याद दिलाया कि किस तरह 70 के दशक में इमरजेंसी के दौरान कांग्रेस, समाजवादी पार्टी, जनसंघ और वाम दलों के नेता लोक नायक जयप्रकाश नारायण के नेतृत्व में एकजुट हुए थे।

उन्होंने कहा-‘अब इमरजेंसी को याद करिए, इमरजेंसी के दौरान भी देश ने यही एकजुटता देखी थी। और मुझे तो उस आंदोलन का हिस्‍सा बनने का सौभाग्‍य मिला था, मैंने सारी चीजों को खुद देखा था, अनुभव किया था, मैं प्रत्यक्ष गवाह हूं। इमरजेंसी के खिलाफ उस आंदोलन में कांग्रेस के पूर्व नेता और कार्यकर्ता भी थे। आरएसएस के स्वयंसेवक और जनसंघ के लोग भी थे। समाजवादी लोग भी थे। कम्यूनिस्ट भी थे। जेएनयू से जुड़े कितने ही लोग थे जिन्होंने एक साथ आकर इमरजेंसी के खिलाफ संघर्ष किया था। इस एकजुटता में, इस लड़ाई में भी किसी को अपनी विचारधारा से समझौता नहीं करना पड़ा था। बस उद्देश्य एक ही था- राष्ट्रहित। और ये उद्देश्य ही सबसे बड़ा था। इसलिए साथियों, जब राष्ट्र की एकता अखंडता और राष्ट्रहित का प्रश्न हो तो अपनी विचारधारा के बोझ तले दबकर फैसला लेने से, देश का नुकसान ही होता है। मोदी ने आगे कहा-‘हां, मैं मानता हूं कि स्वार्थ के लिए, अवसरवाद के लिए अपनी विचारधारा से समझौता करना भी उतना ही गलत है। हमें अवसरवाद से दूर, लेकिन एक स्वस्थ संवाद को लोकतन्त्र में जिंदा रखना है।’

प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने आत्मनिर्भर भारत की जरूरत पर भी जोर दिया। उन्होंने कहा- ‘आज देश आत्मनिर्भर भारत के लक्ष्य और संकल्प के साथ आगे बढ़ रहा है। आज आत्मनिर्भर भारत का विचार 130 करोड़ से अधिक भारतीयों के Collective Consciousness (सामूहिक चेतना) का, हमारी Aspirations (आकांक्षाओं) का हिस्सा बन चुका है। आत्‍मनिर्भर राष्‍ट्र तभी बनता है जब संसाधनों के साथ-साथ सोच और संस्‍कारों में भी वो आत्‍मनिर्भर बने।’

जेएनयू को वामपंथी रुझान वाले छात्रों और शिक्षकों का गढ़ माना जाता है। ये पहला मौका है जब प्रधानमंत्री मोदी जेएनयू के किसी कार्यक्रम में शामिल हुए और वहां के छात्रों को संबोधित किया। प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने जो बातें कहीं वो बेहद अर्थपूर्ण हैं। प्रधानमंत्री ने विवेकानंद की जिस मूर्ति का अनावरण किया वह मूर्ति 2018 में ही बनकर तैयार हो गई थी। 2015 में बीजेपी से जुड़े छात्र संगठन एबीवीपी ने कुलपति जगदीश कुमार के सामने स्वामी विवेकानंद की प्रतिमा स्थापित करने की मांग रखी थी। 2017 में जेएनयू की कार्यकारी परिषद में इसे लेकर एक प्रस्ताव रखा गया. जिसे मान लिया गया। 2018 में मूर्ति बनकर तैयार हो गई थी। लेकिन मूर्ति को लेकर विवाद होते रहे। अनावरण से पहले मूर्ति पर कालिख पोत दी गई। स्वामी विवेकानंद को हिन्दुत्व का प्रतीक बताकर अतिवादी वामपंथियों ने कुछ अपशब्द लिखे। इसके बाद मूर्ति का अनावरण नहीं हो सका।

पीएम मोदी ने कहा-‘ ये सिर्फ एक प्रतिमा नहीं है बल्कि ये उस विचार की ऊंचाई का प्रतीक है जिसके बल पर एक संन्‍यासी ने पूरी दुनिया को भारत का परिचय दिया। उनके पास वेदान्‍त का अगाध ज्ञान था। उनके पास एक विजन था। वो जानते थे कि भारत दुनिया को क्‍या दे सकता है। वो भारत के विश्‍व-बंधुत्‍व के संदेश को लेकर दुनिया में गए। भारत के सांस्‍कृतिक वैभव को, विचारों को, परम्‍पराओं को उन्‍होंने दुनिया के सामने रखा। गौरवपूर्ण तरीके से रखा।’

मोदी ने कहा-‘ आप सोच सकते हैं जब चारों तरफ निराशा थी, हताशा थी, गुलामी के बोझ में दबे हुए थे हम लोग, तब स्‍वामीजी ने अमेरिका की मिशिगन यूनिवर्सिटी में कहा था, और ये पिछली शताब्‍दी के प्रारंभ में कहा था। उन्‍होंने क्‍या कहा था? मिशिगन यूनिवर्सिटी में भारत का एक संन्‍यासी घोषणा भी करता है, दर्शन भी दिखाता है। वो कहते हैं – यह शताब्‍दी आपकी है। यानी पिछली शताब्‍दी के प्रारंभ में उनके शब्‍द हैं- ‘’ये शताब्‍दी आपकी है, लेकिन 21वीं शताब्‍दी निश्चित ही भारत की होगी।‘’ पिछली शताब्‍दी में उनके शब्‍द सही निकले हैं, इस शताब्‍दी में उनके शब्‍दों को सही करना, ये हम सबका दायित्‍व है।’

जेएनयू में मोदी का यह भाषण इसलिए महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि पिछले पांच वर्षों में जेएनयू कैंपस राष्ट्रविरोधी गतिविधियों के कारण चर्चा में आया। जेएनयू में भारत तेरे टुकड़े होंगे, इंशा अल्लाह …इंशा अल्लाह के नारे सुनाई दिए। कश्मीर की आजादी के नारे लगे। छात्र नेता उमर खालिद और कन्हैया कुमार जैसे लोगों को मंच मिला। इसीलिए आज मोदी ने कहा कि एक-दूसरे से चर्चा करो, विवाद और तर्क करो…विचारधारा को मत छोड़ो। लेकिन विचारधारा के चक्कर में देश को तोड़ने की बात तो मत कहो।

जेएनयू कैंपस में विवेकानंद की प्रतिमा का प्रधानमंत्री मोदी द्वारा अनावरण करने के कुछ राजनीतिक मायने भी हैं। पश्चिम बंगाल में अगले साल विधानसभा चुनाव होने हैं। स्वामी विवेकानंद और उनके गुरु रामकृष्ण परमहंस बंगालियों की चेतना के महान प्रतीक हैं। बंगाल में स्वामी विवेकानंद का बहुत सम्मान है। स्वामी विवेकानंद ने बंगाल में रामकृष्ण मिशन की स्थापना की थी। खुद नरेंद्र मोदी रामकृष्ण मिशन के वैल्लूर मठ में रहे हैं। मोदी ने एक संन्यासी के कहने पर रामकृष्ण मिशन में शामिल होने का फैसला लिया था लेकिन बाद में एक वरिष्ठ संन्यासी की सलाह पर वे वापस गुजरात लौट आए। मोदी ने स्वामी विवेकानंद को बहुत गहराई से पढ़ा और समझा है, इसीलिए उन्होंने इतने विस्तार से इस पर बात की। लेकिन पश्चिम बंगाल में चुनाव है। इसलिए कुछ लोग मोदी की बात को बंगाल के चुनाव से जोड़कर भी देखेंगे।

While unveiling a 13-feet tall statue of Swami Vivekananda at the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told students why they should put national interest above ideology. He reminded students of how Mahatma Gandhi attracted leaders from different ideologies in his struggle for independence, and how leaders of various hues at that time gave priority to the common cause for independence and kept their ideologies aside.

Modi also reminded JNU students how during the dark period of Emergency in the Seventies, leaders from Congress, Socialist Party, Jana Sangh and Left parties joined hands under the leadership of Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan.

“In this fight against Emergency, none of the leaders and workers had to compromise with their ideologies and the common cause was ‘national interest’. I was fortunate to be part of that struggle, I saw all that happened and had personal experience. I was a direct witness. So, on questions of national unity and integrity, if we take decisions under the weight of ideologies, it can cause harm to the nation. Of course, it is also wrong to compromise on ideology because of self-interest and opportunism. But, a healthy debate is a must to keep democracy alive ”, Modi said.

Modi also spoke of the need for a ‘self-reliant (atmanirbhar) India’. He said, it has now become part of the aspirations and collective consciousness of more than 130 crore Indians. “A nation becomes self-reliant when it relies not only on its resources, but is also self-reliant in thoughts and values (sanskaar)”, Modi pointed out.

This was Modi’s first address to the students of JNU, considered a citadel of Left-leaning students and teachers, and his words were meaningful and significant. He was unveiling Vivekananda’s statue, which was scheduled two years ago in 2018, but at that time some ultra-Left students had thrown black paint on it after deriding Swamiji as a proponent of Hindutva.

“This is not a mere statue. It is a symbol of the great ideas on the basis of which a saint introduced India to the world. Swamiji had a vast repository of Vedanta knowledge. He had a vision and he knew what India could give to the world. He introduced the world to India’s rich cultural heritage, its ideas and traditions, with pride.

“Can you imagine what Swamiji told the Michigan University at a time when we were all despondent, groaning under the weight of foreign rule? That too, at the beginning of last century? He told the American students and professors, ‘this may be your century, but the 21st century will belong to India’. On our shoulders rests the responsibility of translating his vision into reality.”, said Modi.

Modi’s words assume significance because the JNU campus had been in the centre of controversy during the last five years, when anti-national and separatist slogans like ‘Bharat tere tukde hongey, Inshallah, Inshallah’ were raised by, what we call the ‘tukde-tukde’ gang, and students
leaders like Umer Khalid and Kanhaiya Kumar were given platform to spout anti-national ideas.

It was in this context that Modi advised students to indulge in healthy debates, stick to ideologies, but refrain from weakening national unity and territorial integrity. His advice was clear: do not speak of breaking the nation in the name of ideologies.

Modi unveiling Vivekananda’s statue in JNU campus has a political connotation too. Assembly elections are due next year in West Bengal. Swami Vivekananda and his guru Ramakrishna Paramhansa are great icons in the consciousness of Bengalis. Modi had spent several years of his life at the famous Belur Math set up by Swamiji. He had decided to join the Ramakrishna Mission order of monks but on the advice of a senior monk, he abandoned this idea and returned to Gujarat. To state the obvious, Modi has his sights trained on West Bengal elections now.

दिल्ली में बुधवार को बीजेपी के नेताओं ने बिहार विधानसभा और देश के अन्य राज्यों में हुए उपचुनावों में जीत का जश्न धन्यवाद रैली के रूप में मनाया। प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी के नेतृत्व और काम पर भरोसा जताने के लिए बीजेपी ने बिहार की जनता का आभार व्यक्त किया। पार्टी मुख्यालय पर आयोजित इस रैली में प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी समेत पार्टी के तमाम वरिष्ठ नेता शामिल हुए। उत्साहित समर्थकों की भीड़ को संबोधित करते हुए मोदी ने साफ कहा कि एनडीए बिहार में नीतीश कुमार के नेतृत्व में काम करता रहेगा। प्रकारान्तर में मोदी ने नीतीश के सीएम बने रहने पर मुहर लगा दी।

मोदी ने कहा, ‘ये बिहार की आकांक्षाओ की जीत है, बिहार के गौरव की जीत है। .आपने फिर सिद्ध कर दिया कि वाकई बिहारवासी पारखी भी हैं और जागरूक भी। हम सभी भाजपा का कार्यकर्ता, नीतीश जी के नेतृत्व में एनडीए के कार्यकर्ता, हर बिहारवासी के साथ बिहार के विकास के संकल्प को सिद्ध करने में कोई कसर बाकी नहीं रखेंगे।“ नीतीश कुमार दिवाली के बाद मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में अपना छठा कार्यकाल शुरू करेंगे। मोदी ने बिहार के लोगों को एनडीए में भरोसा जताने के लिए धन्यवाद दिया और बिहार की जीत का पूरा श्रेय भाजपा अध्यक्ष जगत प्रकाश नड्डा को दिया। मोदी ने पार्टी मुख्यालय में मौजूद समर्थकों से ‘नड्डा जी आगे बढ़ो, हम तुम्हारे साथ हैं’, के नारे लगवाए। उन्होंने कहा कि बिहार, गुजरात, उत्तर प्रदेश, कर्नाटक, तेलंगाना, मणिपुर और अन्य राज्यों में लोगों ने जो भरोसा बीजेपी पर जताया है वह पार्टी के लिए मूल्यवान है।

प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने कहा- “ भारतीय जनता पार्टी पूर्व में जीती, मणिपुर में कमल का झंडा फहरा दिया। भारतीय जनता पार्टी पश्चिम में जीती, गुजरात में जीती। भाजपा को उत्तर प्रदेश और मध्य प्रदेश में विजय प्राप्त हुई और भाजपा को दक्षिण में कर्नाटक – तेलंगाना में भी सफलता मिली। भाजपा ही एकमात्र ऐसी राष्ट्रीय स्तर की पार्टी है जिसका परचम जनता ने पूरे देश में फहराया है। कभी हम दो सीटों पर सीमित थे, आज हिंदुस्तान के हर कोने में हैं, हर किसी के दिल में हैं। भारत के लोग, 21वीं सदी के भारत के नागरिक, बार-बार अपना संदेश स्पष्ट कर रहे हैं। अब सेवा का मौका उसी को मिलेगा, जो देश के विकास के लक्ष्य के साथ ईमानदारी से काम करेगा। हर राजनीतिक दल से देश के लोगों की यही अपेक्षा है कि देश के लिए काम करें, देश के काम से मतलब रखें।“

मोदी ने कहा – “कल जो नतीजे आए, उसने साबित कर दिया है कि आप काम करेंगे तो लोगों से आपको भरपूर आशीर्वाद भी मिलेगा। आप खुद को समर्पित करेंगे, चौबीसों घंटे देश के विकास के बारे में सोचेंगे, कुछ नया करने की चेष्टा करेंगे तो आपको नतीजे भी मिलेंगे। कल के नतीजों में देश की जनता ने फिर ये तय कर दिया है कि 21वी सदी में देश की राजनीति का मुख्य आधार- सिर्फ और सिर्फ विकास ही होगा। देश का विकास, राज्य का विकास, आज सबसे बड़ी कसौटी है और आने वाले समय में भी यही चुनाव का आधार रहने वाला है। जो लोग ये नहीं समझ रहे, इस बार भी उनकी जगह-जगह जमानत जब्त हो गयी है।

मोदी ने कहा कि पूरे भारत में लाखों महिलाओं ने भाजपा के लिए ‘साइलेंट वोटर’ का काम किया। कोविड लॉकडाउन के दौरान डायरेक्ट कैश ट्रांसफर के जरिए लोगों के खाते में सीधे पैसे पहुंचाना, किसी को भूख से परेशानी न हो इसका ख्याल रखना। प्रधानमंत्री गरीब कल्याण योजना के जरिए लोगों तक फ्री राशन उपलब्ध कराना, इतने बड़े देश में ये काम आसान नहीं है..लेकिन ये काम बड़ी मजबूती के साथ हुआ और प्रधानमंत्री ने अपने भाषण में इसका जिक्र किया। स्वच्छ भारत योजना के तहत गांव-गांव में शौचालय का निर्माण, लोगों को जनधन खातों से जोड़ना, गरीबों के घर तक उज्जवला गैस सिलेंडर पहुंचाना इन सबका उल्लेख पीएम मोदी ने अपने भाषण में किया। इसके साथ ही उन्होंने ये भी बताया कि पिछले छह वर्षों में लाखों गरीब दलितों, आदिवासियों और अन्य वंचित लोगों को सरकार से कैसे लाभ हुआ है।

मोदी ने वंशवाद और परिवारवाद की राजनीति करनेवाली पार्टियों पर भी सीधा हमला किया। उन्होंने कहा- दुर्भाग्य से कश्मीर से कन्याकुमारी तक परिवारवादी पार्टियों का जाल लोकतंत्र के लिए खतरा बनता जा रहा है। ये देश का युवा भली-भांति जानता है। परिवारों की पार्टियां या परिवारवादी पार्टियां, लोकतंत्र के लिए सबसे बड़ा खतरा हैं।

प्रधानमंत्री ने उन लोगों को भी साफ चेतावनी दी जो बीजेपी के कार्यकर्ताओं की हत्या में लिप्त हैं। उन्होंने पश्चिम बंगाल का नाम नहीं लिया लेकिन कहा- देश के कुछ हिस्सों में ऐसे लोगों को लगता है कि भाजपा के कार्यकर्ताओं को मौत के घाट उतारकर वे अपने मंसूबे पूरे कर लेंगे। जो लोग लोकतांत्रिक तरीके से हमारा मुकाबला नहीं कर पा रहे हैं, ऐसे कुछ लोगों ने हमारी पार्टी के कार्यकर्ताओं की हत्या करने का रास्ता अपनाया है। मैं उन सबको आग्रहपूर्वक निवेदन करता हूं, मैं चेतावनी नहीं देता हूं, वो काम जनता करेगी। उन्होंने आगे कहा, चुनाव आते-जाते हैं, कभी ये बैठेगा कभी वो बैठेगा मगर मौत का खेल खेलकर लोकतंत्र नहीं चलता है और मौत का खेल खेलकर कोई मत नहीं पा सकता है, दीवार पर लिखे हुए ये शब्द पढ़ लेना।

नरेन्द्र मोदी ने अपने भाषण में जो कहा उसी में बीजेपी की जीत, एनडीए की सफलता का राज छिपा है। वो राज है भाजपा और उसके नेतृत्व पर जनता का भरोसा और अच्छी बात ये है कि ये भरोसा मोदी ने अपने काम से जीता है। उन्होंने अपनी सरकार द्वारा पिछले छह वर्षों के दौरान समाज कल्याण, अर्थव्यवस्था को बढ़ावा देने के लिए और राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने के लिए किए गए कामों का भी उल्लेख किया। अब कोई ये नहीं कह सकता कि लोगों के भले के लिए काम करने से, गरीबों के कल्याण के लिए काम करने से वोट नहीं मिलते।

कोरोना महामारी से निपटने का प्लान इसका सबसे बेहतरीन उदाहरण है। जब मोदी ने लॉकडाउन का ऐलान किया तो देश कोरोना से लडने के लिए तैयार नहीं था। ना हॉस्पिटल तैयार थे, ना आईसीयू बेड थे, ना ऑक्सीजन की व्यवस्था थी। ना पीपीई किट, ना टेस्टिंग की व्यवस्था थी। मोदी ने देशव्यापी लॉकडाउन लागू किया और इस अवसर का उपयोग मास्क, पीपीई किट, टेस्ट लैब, आईसीयू और नए अस्पताल बेड बनाने के लिए किया।

गरीबों, दलित, दिहाड़ी मजदूरों और महिलाओं को दो वक्त का भोजन मिले, इसके लिए उन्होंने अप्रैल, मई और जून के महीनों में 20 करोड़ से ज्यादा महिला जन-धन बैंक खातों में सीधे 500 रुपये तीन किस्तों में भिजवाए ताकि गरीबों को ज्यादा परेशानी नहीं हो। उन्होंने गरीबी रेखा से नीचे रहने वाले 80 करोड़ से ज्यादा लोगों को प्रधानमंत्री गरीब कल्याण योजना के तहत मुफ्त राशन उपलब्ध कराने का आदेश दिया। यही वजह रही कि लॉकडाउन के दौरान भूख से मरने का एक भी मामला सामने नहीं आया। इतने बड़े देश में दूर-दराज तक कैश और राशन की आपूर्ति आसान काम नहीं था।

इसी तरह ऐसे कितने सारे उदाहरण दिए जा सकते हैं चाहे पाकिस्तान को आतंकी हमलों के लिए सबक सिखाने का सवाल हो, लोगों को जनधन खातों से जोड़ने का काम हो, गरीबों के घर तक उज्जवला गैस सिलेंडर पहुंचाने का काम हो या गांव-गांव में शौचालय बनवा कर महिलाओं की समस्या दूर करने का काम हो, मोदी ने लोगों तक बुनियादी सुविधाएं पहुंचाईं। बिजली पहुंचाई और अब घर-घर नल पहुंचाने का प्लान हैं। इन कामों से मोदी ने जनता का भरोसा जीता। यही वजह कि देश की जनता ने खासतौर पर बिहार और अन्य राज्यों की जनता ने मोदी के काम पर मुहर लगाकर अपना आभार जता दिया है।

मोदी ने अपनी पार्टी द्वारा किए गए बड़े वादों को पूरा किया, चाहे वह कश्मीर में धारा 370 को खत्म करना हो या अयोध्या में राम मंदिर का निर्माण हो। बिहार के लोगों ने मोदी की उपलब्धियों पर अपनी मुहर लगा दी है। उत्तर प्रदेश, कर्नाटक, मणिपुर, गुजरात, तेलंगाना और अन्य राज्यों की जनता ने ‘मोदी है तो मुमकिन है’ के नारे को सही अर्थों में महसूस किया है।

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party celebrated its electoral success in Bihar and other states by holding a thanksgiving event at the party headquarters on Wednesday attended by top leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing his exuberant supporters, Modi unambiguously endorsed Nitish Kumar’s continuance as Bihar chief minister.
Modi said, “we shall try our best to fulfil the promises made to the people of Bihar under the leadership of Nitish ji”. Nitish Kumar will start his sixth term as CM probably after Diwali. Modi thanked the people of Bihar for reposing confidence in the NDA, and gave full credit for the Bihar victory to BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda. Modi asked supporters to chant the slogan “Nadda Ji aagey badho, hum tumhare saath hain”. He said, the trust reposed by the people of Bihar, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Manipur and other states in BJP is “a big asset” for the party.
The Prime Minister said, “the message from Bihar elections is quite clear: from now on, voters will elect only those who work for the people, they will not elect those who want to merely enjoy the trappings of power but fail to work for the public. ..Gone are the days, when elections in Bihar meant booth capturing, killings and violence. There was peaceful polling in Bihar and there was not a single case of repolling. This is a sign of changing times and it indicates the change that has come in 21st century politics in India”, Modi said.
Modi spoke of how millions of women across India have emerged as “silent voters” for BJP. “They have realized the benefits they have got from direct cash transfer during Covid lockdown, free foodgrains under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana, toilets under Swachh Bharat Yojana, piped water supply under Jal Shakti scheme, and LPG gas under PM Ujjwala Yojana.” He also spoke of how millions of poor Dalits, tribals and other oppressed classes have benefited from the government in the last six years.
Modi also launched a frontal attack on parties which thrive on dynastic politics. “From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, you can see a web of parties which are either family enterprises or which are in the control of families. They present a serious threat to democracy. Even parties with a glorious history are in the grip of a family”, he said. He was indirectly referring to the Congress.
The Prime Minister also gave a clear warning to those who were indulging in murders of BJP karyakartas(workers). He did not mention West Bengal by name. “I want to caution those who have murdered our karyakartas, they must read the ominous writings on the wall.”
Modi clearly summed up the secret behind BJP’s success at the electoral hustings. It is the people’s confidence in BJP and its leadership which is the key to success. He outlined the work done by his government during the last six years for social welfare, for giving boost to economy and for ensuring national security. No political leader can now claim that ‘people do not vote for us even if we work for their welfare’. Times have changed.
The manner in which Modi handled the Covid pandemic should act as a shining example. When the pandemic broke in India, the nation was not ready with masks, PPEs (personal protection equipments), Covid testing labs, ICUs and hospital beds. Modi enforced a nationwide lockdown and used this opportunity to order manufacture of masks, PPEs, setting up of testing labs, ICUs and new hospital beds.
For the poor, downtrodden, daily wage earners and women, he transferred money in three tranches of Rs 500 directly to more than 20 crore women Jan Dhan bank accounts during the months of April, May or June, so that the poor must not suffer. He ordered free supply of foodgrains under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana to more than 80 crore people living below the poverty line. Not a single case of starvation was reported during lockdown. Supplying cash and foodgrains to people living in remotest corners across this vast country was not an easy job.
Similarly, Modi delivered when the nation wanted that India must teach a lesson to Pakistan for its terrorist attacks. He also ensured building of toilets and houses, and providing cheap LPG connections, piped water and electricity to poor families. The people of India, specially in Bihar and other states, have shown their gratitude to Modi by voting his party to power.
Modi fulfilled the big promises his party had made, whether abrogating Article 370 in Kashmir or building a Ram temple in Ayodhya. The people of Bihar have put their stamp of approval on Modi’s achievements. People in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Manipur, Gujarat, Telangana and other states have also realized the true meaning of the slogan “Modi hai, toh mumkin hai” (It’s possible if Modi is there).

बिहार की जनता ने अपना फैसला सुना दिया है। मध्य प्रदेश, गुजरात, उत्तर प्रदेश और कर्नाटक में हुए उपचुनावों के नतीजे भी आ चुके हैं। इन चुनाव नतीजों में भारतीय जनता पार्टी को जबरदस्त जीत मिली है। अगर एक लाइन में कहा जाए तो एक बार फिर ये तय हो गया कि देश की जनता को नरेन्द्र मोदी के नाम पर और उनके काम पर यकीन है।

बिहार में मंगलवार को आधी रात के आसपास चुनाव आयोग ने सभी नतीजों का औपचारिक ऐलान कर दिया। एनडीए को 125, महागठबंधन 110 और बाकी की 8 सीटें एआईएमआईएम और अन्य के खाते में गई हैं।

अगर विश्लेषण करें तो इस चुनाव की पहली और सबसे बड़ी बात तो ये है कि एक बार फिर साबित हुआ कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी के नेतृत्व पर मतदाताओं का भरोसा पहले के मुकाबले बढ़ा है। दूसरी बात ये है कि बीजेपी पहली बार बिहार में 74 सीटें जीतकर दूसरी सबसे बड़ी पार्टी बनी है (तेजस्वी के नेतृत्व वाली आरजेडी को 75 सीटें मिली हैं)। अब तक छोटे भाई की भूमिका में रहने वाली बीजेपी अब बिहार सरकार के अंदर बड़े भाई की भूमिका में रहेगी। बिहार में बीजेपी अकेली ऐसी पार्टी है, जिसकी सीटों की संख्या में जबरदस्त इजाफा हुआ है। बाकी सभी पार्टियों की सीटों की संख्या कम हुई है। नीतीश कुमार की जनता दल यूनाइटेड की हालत तो सबसे खराब है। बहुत मुश्किल से वह 43 सीटें जीतने में सफल रही है। जेडीयू अपने सबसे निचले स्तर पर पहुंच गई है। हाल के दिनों में यह जनता दल यूनाइटेड का सबसे खराब प्रदर्शन रहा है। ये नीतीश कुमार के लिए बड़ा झटका है।

तीसरी बात ये है कि चुनाव नतीजों से लगता है कि बिहार में जाति और धर्म के आधार पर वोटिंग तो हुई लेकिन विकास की बात और जंगलराज का डर भी मतदाताओं पर हावी रहा। और इन सबका फायदा बीजेपी को हुआ। नीतीश कुमार से लोगों की नाराजगी थी लेकिन लोग लालू के ‘जंगलराज’ को भूले नहीं हैं। वहीं तेजस्वी बिहार के लोगों को ये यकीन नहीं दिला पाए कि दोबारा जंगलराज नहीं आएगा।

चौथी बात ये है कि इस चुनाव में चिराग पासवान भी एक फैक्टर थे। हालांकि नतीजों से यह साफ हो गया कि बिहार के लोगों को कन्फ्यूजन पसंद नहीं है। चुनाव में चिराग कन्फ्यूज्ड दिखे। उन्होंने बिहार में खुद को एनडीए से अलग कर लिया और चुनाव मैदान में उतरे। वो मोदी के साथ थे लेकिन नीतीश के खिलाफ थे जबकि नीतीश और मोदी साथ-साथ थे। इसलिए जनता को चिराग तले अंधेरा दिखा। हालांकि चिराग ने एनडीए को और खासकर जेडीयू को काफी नुकसान पहुंचाया।

पांचवीं बात ये है कि असदुद्दीन ओवैसी, उपेन्द्र कुशवाहा और पप्पू यादव चुनाव तो बीजेपी के खिलाफ लड़ रहे थे लेकिन सबका फायदा बीजेपी को मिला।

छठी बात ये कि राहुल गांधी ने तेजस्वी की मदद से बिहार में कांग्रेस को मजबूत करने की कोशिश की लेकिन नतीजा ये हुआ कि बिहार में कांग्रेस पहले से भी कमजोर हो गई। कांग्रेस का स्ट्राइक रेट बेहद कम रहा और इससे महागठबंधन को काफी नुकसान झेलना पड़ा। 70 सीटों पर चुनाव लड़कर कांग्रेस महज 19 सीटें पाने में सफल रही।

सातवीं बात ये कि इस बार वाम दलों का स्ट्राइक रेट सबसे अच्छा रहा। महागठबंधन में शामिल वाम दलों ने तेजस्वी की भीड़ जुटाने की ताकत का पूरा फायदा उठाया और 16 सीटें जीतने में कामयाब रहे। सीपीआई-माले-लिबरेशन को 12 सीटें मिली जबकि सीपीआई और सीपीआई-एम को दो-दो सीटें जीतने में कामयाब रही।

अंत में एक बात और साफ हुई कि एग्जिट पोल हों या ओपिनियन पोल, कोई भी मतदाताओं और खासतौर से महिला मतदाताओं के दिल की बात समझने का दावा नहीं कर सकते। इस बार भी बिहार में एग्जिट पोल पूरी तरह से गलत साबित हुए।

इस चुनाव में नरेन्द्र मोदी बड़े गेम चेंजर साबित हुए । उन्होंने एक बार फिर साबित किया कि वो हवा का रूख अपनी तरफ मोड़ने का हुनर अच्छी तरह जानते हैं। बिहार के चुनाव पर पूरे देश की नजर थी। कोरोना महामारी की त्रासदी के बीच ये पहला चुनाव था। बिहार राजनीतिक तौर पर बहुत सक्रिय और जागरूक राज्य माना जाता है। शुरुआत में यह दावा किया जा रहा था कि बिहार में बदलाव की तैयारी है। जिस तरह की तस्वीरें आ रही थीं, जिस तरह की बातं सुनाई दे रही थी, उससे ऐसा लग भी रहा था। लेकिन जब 27 अक्टूबर को नरेन्द्र मोदी चुनाव प्रचार में उतरे उसके बाद हवा का रूख बदला। किसी ने नहीं सोचा था कि बिहार में बीजेपी अब तक का सबसे अच्छा प्रदर्शन करेगी। प्रदेश में दूसरी सबसे बड़ी पार्टी बन जाएगी। नरेंद्र मोदी की रैलियों ने चुनाव का माहौल पूरी तरह बदल दिया। मोदी की रैलियों और उनके भाषण से चुनाव के दूसरे और तीसरे चरण में चुनाव का रुख बदल गया। नरेंद्र मोदी ने 12 जिलों में रैलियां की जिनसे 101 सीटों पर सीधा असर पड़ा। इन 101 सीटों में से एनडीए ने 59 सीटों पर जीत दर्ज की।

असल में जब तक नरेंद्र मोदी चुनाव प्रचार में नहीं उतरे थे उस वक्त तक महागठबंधन मजबूत दिख रहा था। मोदी ने जब प्रचार शुरू किया तो पहले चरण में उन्होंने माहौल को समझा। उस वक्त तेजस्वी यादव लोगों से 10 लाख सरकारी नौकरियों का वादा कर रहे थे, राहुल गांधी प्रवासी मजदूरों के मुद्दे पर मोदी पर हमला कर रहे थे, चिराग पासवान कन्फ्यूजन पैदा कर रहे थे। मोदी ने पूरे माहौल को अच्छी तरह समझा और इसके बाद दूसरे और तीसरे चरण की रैलियों में उन्होंने बिहार के लोगों को ‘जंगलराज’ की याद दिलाई। बार-बार कहा कि बिहार के लोग सब सहन कर लेंगे लेकिन बिहार में वो दिन वापस नहीं देखना चाहेंगे जब अपहरण और रंगदारी आम बात थी।

मोदी ने ‘जंगलराज’, ‘जंगराज के युवराज’, ‘किंडनैपिंग के किंग’ ,’दो-दो युवराज’ (तेजस्वी और राहुल गांधी) ऐसे तमाम जुमलों का इस्तेमाल किया जो सीधे जनता की समझ में आए। पीएम मोदी ने लोगों को गरीब कल्याण पैकेज की याद दिलाई। मुफ्त राशन की योजना की याद दिलाई। महिलाओं के जन धन खातों में 500-500 रुपये की किश्त भेजे जाने की बात कही। मोदी ने ये भी कहा कि लोगों को दिक्कत तो हुई है लेकिन संकट ही ऐसा था जिससे पूरी दुनिया परेशान थी। सरकार ने लोगों की मुश्किलों को दूर करने की पूरी कोशिश की। मोदी का संदेश स्पष्ट तौर पर जनता के बीच गया और इसका असर दिखा दिया और लोगों ने मोदी की बात पर यकीन किया। उधर, नीतीश की जेडीयू ने भी महिला मतदाताओं को लुभाने की पूरी कोशिश की।

इस सफलता का श्रेय भाजपा अध्यक्ष जगत प्रकाश नड्डा को भी जाता है। नड्डा बिहार को और बिहार की राजनीति को अच्छी तरह समझते हैं, क्योंकि वो छात्र जीवन में बिहार में रहे। नड्डा ने बिहार में 22 बड़ी जनसभाएं और कई रोड शो किए। उन्होंने सैकड़ों छोटी सभाएं की। बिहार में टिकटों के बंटवारे लेकर पार्टी के कार्यरर्ताओं और नेताओं को एकजुट रखने का काम नड्डा ने बहुत ही समझदारी से किया। नड्डा का बिहार से जमीनी जुड़ाव रहा है। वो पटना में पैदा हुए, पटना के सेंट जेवियर्स स्कूल से शुरुआती पढ़ाई की। फिर पटना यूनिवर्सिटी से ग्रेजुएशन किया। नड्डा बिहार के मिजाज को अच्छी तरह समझते हैं और ये हमने नड्डा की चुनावी रैलियों में भी देखा जब वो खांटी बिहारी अंदाज में लोगों से बात करते दिखाई दिए। वो मिथिलांचल में लोगों से मैथिली में बात करते दिखाई दिए। बड़ी बात ये है कि इस बार नड्डा ने बिहार की जंग जमीन पर अकेले लड़ी। अमित शाह कोरोना पॉजिटिव थे इसलिए बिहार नहीं जा सके। प्रचार की शुरूआत में ही सुशील कुमार मोदी कोरोना के शिकार हो गए। फिर शाहनवाज हुसैन और राजीव प्रताप रूड़ी भी कोरोना की चपेट में आ गए। ऐसे में नड्डा ने अकेले मोर्चा संभाला और पार्टी के लिए उनकी मेहनत रंग लाई।

तेजस्वी यादव ने जबरदस्त मेहनत की। एक दिन में 19-19 रैलियां की। दरअसल उनके पिता लालू यादव जेल में हैं और उनकी पार्टी के कई बड़े-बड़े नेता पार्टी छोड़ चुके हैं। चुनाव का पूरा दारोमदार तेजस्वी पर था। सबको साथ लेकर चलना था। सहयोगियों की जिद पूरी करनी थी। नीतीश कुमार और सुशील मोदी जैसे पुराने और अनुभवी नेताओं से मुकाबला करना था। तेजस्वी चतुर हैं। जानते थे कि अकेले तो नैया पार होना मुश्किल है इसलिए उन्होंने गठबंधन बनाया। लेफ्ट को अपने साथ लिया राहुल गांधी पर भी यकीन किया। 10 लाख रोजगार के वादे से युवाओं को लुभाने की पूरी कोशिश की लेकिन चुनाव प्रचार में नरेंद्र मोदी के उतरने के बाद तेजस्वी का खेल बिगड़ गया।

चिराग के लिए मैं यही कहूंगा कि सियासत में सफलता के लिए महत्वाकांक्षी होना जरूरी है, लेकिन इसके साथ-साथ अनुभव और संयम भी होना चाहिए। चिराग पासवान युवा हैं, अच्छा बोलते हैं, उनमें जज्बा है, लड़ना जानते हैं लेकिन सब्र करना भी जरूरी था। चूंकि रामविलास पासवान का अचानक निधन हो गया इसलिए उनके अनुभव का जो फायदा चिराग को होता था उसकी कमी दिखाई दी। जल्दबाजी में अकेले जाने का फैसला किया और नतीजा क्या हुआ? एलजेपी केवल एक सीट जीत पाई। ‘हम तो डूबेंगे सनम तुमको ले डूबेंगे’ वाली कहावत चरितार्थ हो गई। उनकी वजह से NDA के सहयोगी दलों को काफी नुकसान हुआ। अगर चिराग पूरी तरह से NDA के साथ होते तो NDA 150 से ज्यादा सीटें आराम से जीत सकता था। चिराग पासवान ने अगर तेजस्वी के साथ जाने का फैसला किया होता तो भी बात आर-पार वाली होती। शायद तेजस्वी आसानी से सीएम बन जाते। लेकिन चिराग ने मोदी के साथ रहने और नीतीश का विरोध करने फैसला किया और नतीजा सबके सामने है। चिराग ने नीतीश कुमार के साथ साथ कई जगह बीजेपी को भी नुकसान पहुंचाया ।

कांग्रेस की बात करें तो प्रचार के दौरान राहुल गांधी के भाषण के अंश हमने कई बार आपको सुनवाए। इसलिए अब ये बताने की जरूरत नहीं है कि राहुल गांधी का प्रचार उल्टा क्यों पड़ा। राहुल को बिहार के मुद्दों की समझ नहीं है। वो हर जगह नरेन्द्र मोदी को निशाना बनाते हैं । कांग्रेस के नेताओं ने बार-बार समझाने की कोशिश की कि मोदी पर हमला करने से अन्ततोगत्वा कांग्रेस को ही नुकसान होता है। मोदी ने अपने भाषण में इसकी तरफ इशारा किया था। उन्होंने कहा था कि ‘एक युवराज हैं। वो यूपी में दूसरे युवराज के साथ घूमे थे। वहां उनकी नैया डुबा आए। अब वही युवराज बिहार के युवराज के साथ घूम रहे हैं। इनकी भी नैया डुबाएंगे।’

असदुद्दीन ओवैसी भले ही कहें कि उन्होंने बीजेपी को, NDA को तगड़ी चुनौती दी, वो मोदी के खिलाफ हैं। लेकिन हकीकत तो यही है कि ओवैसी ने कांग्रेस और RJD का काम बिगाड़ा। ओवैसी की वजह से भले ही बीजेपी को फायदा मिला हो लेकिन ये भी सही है कि बिहार में पांच सीटों पर ओवैसी की पार्टी ने जीत दर्ज की है। पहले ओवैसी की पार्टी सिर्फ हैदराबाद तक सीमित थी। इसके बाद पहले महाराष्ट्र में ओबैसी की पार्टी ने दो सीटें जीतीं और अब उनकी पार्टी ने बिहार में पहली बार पांच सीटों पर जीत दर्ज की है। मुसलमानों के नाम पर सियासत करने वाली पार्टियों के लिए ओवैसी बड़ी चुनौती बन सकते हैं।

उधर, मध्य प्रदेश विधानसभा उपचुनावों में भाजपा ने 28 सीटों में से 19 सीटें जीत ली है। प्रदेश में शिवराज सिंह चौहान की सरकार बनी रहेगी ये बीजेपी ने पक्का कर लिया है। उत्तर प्रदेश में हाथरस जैसी घटना के बाद राहुल और प्रियंका की कोशिश के बावजूद बीजेपी ने सात में से 6 सीटें जीत ली। गुजरात में सारी की सारी 8 सीटें बीजेपी ने जीती। मणिपुर और तेलंगाना में भी बीजेपी की जीत ने लोगों को अचरज में डाल दिया। ये कोई छोटी उपलब्धि नहीं है। इन सारी जीतों का सबसे बड़ा फैक्टर मोदी की लोकप्रियता है और ये लोकप्रियता मोदी के काम के आधार पर बनी है। आज भी विरोधी दलों के पास मोदी का कोई जवाब नहीं है। आज की इस जीत का फायदा बीजेपी को आने वाले पश्चिम बंगाल के चुनाव में होगा। ये ममता बनर्जी के लिए खतरे की घंटी है। बंगाल और असम में बीजेपी अब नए हौसले के साथ चुनाव लड़ेगी।

The people of Bihar have given their final verdict. Results of all byelections in other states have also come. One thing is crystal clear now. The BJP has scored magnificent wins in most of the states. I can sum up in a single sentence: the people of India have once again reposed their confidence in Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.

After the final official results for Bihar were declared by the Election Commission past midnight, it is NDA 125, Maha Gathbandhan 110, and the remaining eight seats to AIMIM and others.

Let us analyze. One, there is not an iota of doubt that the confidence of common voters of Bihar in Modi’s leadership has increased. Two, BJP has emerged as the second largest party in Bihar winning 74 seats (Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD has won 75 seats). In other words, from its earlier role as a ‘younger brother’ in Bihar NDA, BJP has now emerged as ‘Big Brother’ and will have a big say in the running of Bihar government. Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) has shrunk badly. It barely managed to win 43 seats. This is its lowest figure in recent times and Nitish Kumar has suffered a big political setback.

Three, there was voting on caste and communal lines this time, but issues relating to development and the fear of return of ‘jungle raaj’ also mattered in the minds of voters, and BJP gained a lot because of this. Voters were unhappy with Nitish Kumar, but they had not forgotten and forgiven Lalu Yadav’s infamous ‘jungle raaj’, and his son Tejashwi failed to assure voters that there would be no return of ‘jungle raaj’.

Four, Chirag Paswan harmed both the RJD and JD(U), but the voters of Bihar made it quite clear that they do not want any confusion. Chirag was claiming Modi as his leader but he walked out of the state alliance while opposing Nitish Kumar’s return as CM.

Five, small timers like AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Pappu Yadav and Upendra Kushwaha fought against Modi’s BJP, but they ended up giving Modi the advantage.

Six, Rahul Gandhi wanted to give his Congress party a strong footing in Bihar with Tejashwi Yadav’s help, but his party fared poorly, and with a worse strike rate, ended up causing loss to Tejashwi’s Maha Gathbandhan. Congress ultimately won only 19 seats.

Seven, the Left parties took full advantage of Tejashwi’s crowd pulling power and won 16 seats. Their strike rate was good. CPI(ML-Liberation) won 12 seats, CPI and CPI(M) won two seats each.

And lastly, all the exit polls and opinion polls proved wrong. They could not gauge the mood of voters, particularly women, correctly.

Narendra Modi emerged as the biggest game changer in Bihar elections. He knows the art of moving the direction of the wind that was blowing in Bihar’s political landscape. The entire nation had its attention fixed on Bihar, where the first assembly elections were being held in the era of Covid pandemic. The voters of Bihar are politically aware and active. Most of them were speaking about ‘change’.

On October 27, when Modi entered the scene, and started addressing rallies, there was change in the political wind that was blowing. Nobody had expected BJP to emerge as the second largest party and the wind was blowing in favour of Maha Gathbandhan. After Modi addressed rallies, the scene changed during the second and third phases. He addressed rallies in 12 districts covering 101 seats. The NDA won 59 out of these 101 seats.

While campaigning during the first phase, Modi clearly gauged the mood of the people, and in the second and third phases, he turned the tables on MGB. At a time when Tejashwi Yadav was promising a rosy picture of one million government jobs, Rahul was hitting out at Modi over thousands of migrant labourers walking on foot during lockdown, Chirag Paswan was creating confusion, it was Modi who reminded people about the dark days of Lalu’s ‘jungle raaj’ when kidnappings for ransom and collection of ‘rangdari’ (extortion) were rampant.

In his speeches, Modi repeatedly used phrases like ‘jungleraaj ka yuvraj’ (prince of jungle raaj) and ‘kidnapping ke king’. He went to the extent of saying ‘do do yuvraaj’ (two princes) indirectly referring to Tejashwi and Rahul campaigning together. The message was clear and it connected with the common voter. Modi reminded voters of how his government sent free foodgrains for poor families under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana during Covid lockdown period, and transferred Rs 500 each to the bank accounts of women. The women voters remembered this and they voted for Modi. Even Nitish Kumar’s party JD(U) took advantage of the mood of women voters.

Credit also goes to the new BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda, who knew the ground situation in Bihar very well. Born in Patna, he studied in a school in Patna and graduated from Patna University. Nadda handled the party machine well, addressed 22 big meetings, took out road shows, and worked with backroom workers to ensure his party’s win. In Mithila region, he spoke in Maithili, and in other regions, he spoke in local dialects to win over the voters. Amit Shah, Shahnawaz Hussain, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Sushil Modi had tested Covid positive. It was left to Nadda to hold the fort.

Tejashwi Yadav slogged heavily, addressing as many as 19 rallies a day with the help of a chopper. His father, Lalu Yadav, was in jail, and many senior RJD leaders had left his party. Tejashwi had to take his own party leaders and alliance parties along, and tackle seasoned leaders like Nitish Kumar and Sushil Modi.

I give full credit to Tejashwi for the good showing that his party did in the elections, despite his lack of experience. Tejashwi had set the political narrative from the beginning, by raising the issue of jobs for the jobless. He had promised a million government jobs, the day his government took over. Millions of youths in Bihar were attracted towards him, but it was Modi, the game changer, who turned the tables, by describing him as ‘Jungle raaj ke yuvraaj’.

For Chirag Paswan, I have this to say. Ambition is necessary in politics, but in order to achieve aims, one requires experience, patience and sagacity. Chirag is young, he is full of energy, speaks well and knows how to give a political fight, but he overplayed his card. He should have exercised patience. With Ramvilas Paswan passing away days before the elections, he could not benefit from his father’s vast political experience.

Chirag took a hasty decision by walking out of the Bihar NDA, hit out at Nitish Kumar, and the end result: his party LJP could win only a solitary seat. His action against Nitish reminds me of the Urdu couplet, “hum toh doobe hain sanam, tumhe bhi le doobengey”. His decision caused huge losses to NDA partners. Had Chirag stayed in NDA, the alliance could have easily notched up more than 150 seats. Had Chirag joined Tejashwi’s Maha Gathbandhan, the latter could have scored a clear majority and become the CM. But Chirag opted for ‘love Modi, hate Nitish’ line, and in the end, it was neither here, not there. Ignoring Chirag, Modi clearly announced at his rallies that Nitish would lead the NDA in Bihar.

About Congress, the less said the better. In recent shows of ‘Aaj Ki Baat’, I have shown clips of Rahul Gandhi’s speeches, which have no connect with the voters. Rahul does not even know the real issues that matter the most in Bihar. He is like a stuck gramophone record: always denouncing Modi, whether it is Bihar or Maharashtra or Madhya Pradesh. It is his single theme in all his rallies. He fails to realize that the people of India love Modi and his leadership. Senior Congress leaders had advised Rahul not to target Modi too often as it could damage the party’s prospects.

It was left to Modi to remind voters in his rallies about one “yuvraaj” who joined hands with another “yuvraaj” (Akhilesh Yadav) in UP and brought the latter’s downfall. “The same yuvraaj is now going out with another yuvraaj (Tejashwi) in Bihar and will bring about his downfall too”, said Modi.

Asaduddin Owaisi acted as a speed breaker for Muslim voters diverting towards RJD and Congress. Owaisi’s party AIMIM, which was earlier confined to Hyderabad, first spread its wings in Maharashtra, winning two seats, and now, for the first time, it has won five assembly seats in Bihar. Owaisi is soon going to emerge as a serious challenger to those parties whose politics pivot around Muslim votes.

With the BJP winning 19 out of 28 assembly byelections in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has consolidated his hold. In UP, despite the Hathras incident highlighted by Rahul and Priyanka, the BJP won six out of seven seats. In Gujarat, it made a clean sweep of all eight seats. BJP’s win in Manipur and Telangana has surprised political pundits.

The common thread in all these wins in Modi’s rising popularity. The opposition parties are still searching for somebody who can try to stop Modi. राष्ट्रीय राजधानी दिल्ली में शुक्रवार को कोरोना वायरस के रिकॉर्ड 7178 नए मामले दर्ज किए गए और 24 घंटों में 64 लोगों की मौत हुई। एक दिन में सामने आए कोरोना संक्रमण के मामलों के हिसाब से दिल्ली अब पूरे देश में पहले स्थान पर पहुंच गया है और उसने केरल (7,002) को दूसरे स्थान पर धकेल दिया है। हालांकि दिल्ली के स्वास्थ्य मंत्री सत्येंद्र जैन का दावा है कि बड़ी संख्या में कोरोना टेस्टिंग और कॉन्टैक्ट ट्रेसिंग की वजह से कोरोना के मामले बढ़े हैं लेकिन जमीनी हकीकत में कुछ और ही कहानी निकलकर सामने आ रही है।

शुक्रवार की रात मेरे प्राइम टाइम शो ‘आज की बात’ में हमने दिखाया कि कैसे दिल्ली के व्यस्त बाजारों यानी सदर बाजार, चांदनी चौक, करोल बाग, लाजपत नगर, सरोजनी नगर, गांधी नगर और चावड़ी बाजार में दिवाली की खरीदारी के लिए लोगों का हुजूम उमड़ पड़ा था। बाजार में भीड़ इतनी थी कि सड़क पर चलने के लिए एक इंच जगह नहीं बची थी। ज्यादातर लोग कोरोना महामारी को लेकर लापरवाह नजर आए और ऐसा लग रहा था कि उन्हें कोई चिंता नहीं है।

दिल्ली में दिवाली की खरीदारी करने निकली भीड़ का दृश्य देख शायद ही कोई इस बात पर यकीन करे कि दिल्ली में अब तक कोरोना वायरस के संक्रमण की वजह से 6,833 लोगों की जान जा चुकी है और वायरस से संक्रमित होने वाले लोगों का कुल आंकड़ा 4.23 लाख तक पहुंच चुका है। बेशक 3.77 लाख लोग इस बीमारी से ठीक भी हुए हैं, लेकिन दिल्ली के व्यस्त बाजारों में जिस तरह की भीड़ है, उसे देखकर अंदाजा लगाया जा सकता है कि अगले कुछ हफ्तों में मामले तेजी से बढ़ सकते हैं।

पहले से ही दिल्ली के अस्पतालों में कोविड-19 के मरीजों के लिए ICU बेड्स की भारी कमी है, और दिल्ली सरकार ने COVID-19 रोगियों के लिए 33 बड़े निजी अस्पतालों में 80 प्रतिशत ICU बेड आरक्षित करने के फैसले पर रोक लगाने के दिल्ली हाई कोर्ट के आदेश के खिलाफ सुप्रीम कोर्ट का रुख किया है। राजधानी में 168 रजिस्टर्ड प्राइवेट हॉस्पिटल हैं, और दिल्ली सरकार को कोरोना वायरस के रोगियों के इलाज के लिए ICU बेड्स की सख्त जरूरत है।

शुक्रवार को इंडिया टीवी के रिपोर्ट्स मुंबई के झावेरी बाजार और दादर के मार्केट गए। वहां पर भी दिवाली की शॉपिंग के लिए लोगों का हुजूम उमड़ा हुआ था। मुंबई में अब तक कोरोना वायरस से संक्रमण के 2.60 लाख से ज्यादा मामले दर्ज किए गए हैं, 10 हजार से ज्यादा लोगों की मौत हुई है और फिर भी बाजारों में उमड़ रही भीड़ को सोशल डिस्टेंसिंग की जरा भी चिंता नहीं है। इंडिया टीवी के रिपोर्ट्स ने शॉपिंग करने आए लोगों से बात की तो उनमें से कइयों ने दबी आवाज में स्वीकार किया कि उन्हें मास्क पहनना याद नहीं रहा।

अहमदाबाद के व्यस्त बाजारों में शुक्रवार को भारी भीड़ देखी गई। इस शहर में अब तक कोविड के चलते 3,700 से ज्यादा लोगों की जान जा चुकी है। अहमदाबाद में कोरोना वायरस से संक्रमण के अब तक 1.75 लाख से ज्यदा मामले सामने आए हैं, लेकिन फिर इन व्यस्त बाजारों में जाकर लोग अपनी जान जोखिम में डाल रहे हैं।

जयपुर का मामला थोड़ा अलग है, जहां पुलिस कांस्टेबल के 5000 से ज्यादा पदों के लिए 17 लाख से भी ज्यादा नौजवान परीक्षा में शामिल हुए हैं। चूंकि 32 परीक्षा केंद्रों पर उम्मीदवारों को ले जाने के लिए सरकार ने गाड़ियों की कोई व्यवस्था नहीं की थी, इसलिए बसों को पकड़ने के लिए जयपुर, अजमेर, कोटा और अलवर में बस स्टेशनों पर युवाओं की भारी भीड़ जमा हो गई। यहां भी सोशल डिस्टेंसिंग का ख्याल नहीं रखा गया।

मैंने इस मुद्दे पर कई विशेषज्ञों से बात की है। उन्होंने दिल्ली में कोविड-19 के मामलों में वृद्धि का एक प्रमुख कारण ‘कोरोना फटीग’ को जिम्मेदार ठहराया है। लोग पिछले 7 महीनों से अपने घरों के अंदर रहकर थक गए हैं, और अब उन्हें अब थोड़े बदलाव की जरूरत है। दूसरी बात, सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर घूमने वाले कई लोग मास्क नहीं पहनते हैं, और उसे अपने गले में लटकाकर रखते हैं, जिसका कोई मतलब नहीं है।

लोग दिवाली से पहले शॉपिंग तो करना ही चाहते हैं, लेकिन यह अपने घरों से बाहर निकलकर सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर घूमने का बहाना भी प्रतीत हो रहा है। कई लोगों के मन में यह गलत धारणा बैठ गई है कि कोरोना वायरस आजकल कमजोर हो गया है, और यदि इसकी चपेट में आ भी गए तो 4-5 दिन में ठीक हो जाएंगे। लेकिन वे यह बात भूल जाते हैं कि एक बार जब वे वायरस से संक्रमित होते हैं, तो वे अनजाने में इसके ‘सुपर स्प्रेडर्स’ बनकर तमाम लोगों को संक्रमित कर सकते हैं।

वायरस से संक्रमित होने के बाद ज्यादातर ऐसे लोग जो बूढ़े हैं, या फेफड़े और दिल की बीमारियों से पीड़ित हैं, गंभीर संकट में फंस सकते हैं। इसके अलावा, यूपी, बिहार, हरियाणा, राजस्थान और अन्य राज्यों के लोग बगैर किसी जांच के बड़ी संख्या में दिल्ली आते हैं। उनमें से कई वायरस के वाहक हो सकते हैं और वे अनजाने में वायरस को अपने राज्यों में भी ले जाते होंगे।

अब यह बात बताने की कोई जरूरत नहीं है कि कोरोना वायरस कितना जानलेवा है। अभी भी कोरोना वायरस के फैलने की रफ्तार कम नहीं हुई है। कोविड-19 की कोई दवाई भी अब तक नहीं मिल पाई है, और वैक्सीन के आने में भी अभी कई महीने लग सकते हैं। इसलिए खुद को कोरोना वायरस के खतरे से बचाने का एक ही तरीका है, और वह है कि सावधानी बरती जाए। अगर लोग मास्क नहीं पहनते हैं और सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर सोशल डिस्टेंसिंग को नजरअंदाज करते हैं, तो महामारी का फैलना तय है। ऐसे में सरकार को जिम्मेदार ठहराना ठीक नहीं है। लोगों द्वारा की जा रही ये लापरवाही निश्चित तौर पर उनके अपने परिवार के लिए और समाज के दूसरे लोगों के लिए खतरनाक हो सकती है।

लोगों को यह समझना चाहिए कि कोई सरकार सख्ती नहीं करना चाहती है। कौन चाहता है कि लोगों को जबरन घरों में कैद कर दिया जाए? कोई नहीं चाहता कि फिर लॉकडाउन लगे, लेकिन ये ध्यान रखिए कि यूके, जर्मनी और फ्रांस समेत यूरोप के कई देशों में कोरोना वायरस के बढ़ते मामलों को देखते हुए दोबारा लॉकडाउन लगाने की नौबत आ गई। यूके में क्रिसमस और न्यू इयर के त्योहारों के ऐन पहले एक महीने के लिए लॉकडाउन लगाया गया है। इसकी वजह ये है की वहां भी लोगों ने लापरवाही की, मास्क नहीं लगाए और सोशल डिस्टेंसिंग की धज्जियां उड़ाईं।

इसलिए मेरी सभी से हाथ जोड़ कर अपील है कि सावधान रहिए, सुरक्षित रहिए। ये आपके लिए जरूरी है। अपने घर पर रहें, सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर मास्क जरूर पहनें, सोशल डिस्टेंसिंग का ध्यान रखें। जब तक अधिकांश लोगों को टीका नहीं लग जाता है, तब तक हर शख्स को सावधानी बरतनी होगी, घर पर रहना होगा और भीड़भाड़ वाली जगहों पर जाने से बचना होगा।

The national capital Delhi on Friday recorded the largest number of new Covid cases at 7,178, with 64 deaths reported in the last 24 hours. Delhi is now on top of the Covid tally across India pushing Kerala (7,002) to second position. While Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain has claimed that the surge in cases is due to what he called “aggressive contact tracing and testing”, the ground situation tells a different tale.

In my prime time show ‘Aaj Ki Baat’ on Friday night, we showed how huge crowds of Diwali shoppers are thronging the busy markets of Sadar Bazar, Chandni Chowk, Karol Bagh, Lajpat Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, Gandhi Nagar and Chawri Bazar. Many of the shoppers were not wearing masks and there was least social distancing. There was not even an inch of space on roads to move, with crowds thronging the markets. Most of the people appeared to be nonchalant and least concerned about Covid pandemic.

Watching visuals of Diwali shoppers in Delhi, one can hardly believe that this city has till now witnessed 6,833 Covid-related deaths and total number of Covid cases has touched 4.23 lakhs. Of course, 3.77 lakh people did recover, but looking at the crowds in Delhi’s busy markets, one can easily assume that the number of Covid cases is going to skyrocket in the next few weeks.

Already there is critical shortage of ICU beds for Covid patients in Delhi hospitals, and Delhi government has moved the Supreme Court to vacate the High Court order staying its decision to reserve 80 per cent ICU beds in 33 big private hospitals. There are 168 registered private hospitals in the capital, and Delhi government is in dire need of ICU beds to treat Covid patients.

India TV reporters on Friday visited Jhaveri Bazar and Dadar markets in Mumbai, where similar crowds of Diwali shoppers were noticed. Mumbai has recorded more than 2.60 lakh Covid cases till now, more than 10,000 people died due to the pandemic and yet the crowds in markets are least concerned about social distancing. Many of the shoppers India TV reporters spoke to, sheepishly admitted that they had forgotten to wear masks.

Crowds were also noticed on Friday in the busy markets of Ahmedabad, where more than 3,700 people have died of Covid till now. More than 1.75 lakh Covid cases have been detected in Ahmedabad till date, but people are taking grave risks to their lives by visiting these crowded markets.

In a different scenario in Jaipur, more than 17 lakh youths are to appear in exams for more than 5,000 police constable posts across Rajasthan. Since no bus arrangements were made to carry the candidates to 32 exam centres, huge crowds of youths descended on the bus stations in Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota and Alwar to catch buses. Social distancing was given a miss.

I have spoken to several experts on this issue. They attributed the rise in Covid cases in Delhi due to one major reason – “Corona fatigue”. People have become tired staying inside their homes for the last seven months, and they need a change. Secondly, many of the people roaming in public places do not wear masks, they simply hang the masks around their necks, which amounts to nothing.

The urge to buy before Diwali is there, but this appears only to be an excuse to get out of homes and loiter in public places. Several people are under the false notion that the Covid virus has now “weakened”. Many of them are under the impression that if they fall ill due to Covid, they would recover within four of five days. But they forget the basic fact that once they are infected with the virus, they would be unwittingly becoming “super spreaders” of the virus, infecting more and more people.

Most of the people who are old, infirm and suffering from lung and heart ailments, will face critical situation once they are infected by the virus. Moreover, people from UP, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan and other states visit Delhi in large numbers, unchecked, and many of them could be carriers of the virus. They would be unknowingly carrying the virus to their respective states too.

There is no gainsaying the fact that Covid virus is life threatening. The spread of the pandemic has not yet eased. No medicine has yet been invented to treat Covid. The vaccine is still several months away. The only method to protect oneself is to remain careful.

If people stop wearing masks and ignore social distancing in public places, the pandemic is sure to spread and there is no point in blaming the government. Such attitudes of crass negligence will surely harm people and their families, and the society at large.

People must understand that governments do not like to enforce unnecessary restrictions on movement, nobody wants another severe lockdown, but one must know that governments in the UK, France, Germany and several European countries have been forced to impose lockdown due to surge in Covid cases. In UK, lockdown has been imposed for a month, just ahead of Christmas and New Year festivities. The reason: people in these countries had been ignoring Covid protocol by refusing to wear masks and maintain social distancing.

I appeal to all of you with folded hands: please take care, be safe, stay at home, always wear masks in public places and maintain social distancing. Till the time most of the people are not vaccinated, every person has to take care, try to stay at home and avoid crowded places.

पूरी दुनिया की नजर इस समय अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति पद के 2 दावेदारों, डोनाल्ड ट्रंप और जो बाइडेन के के बीच हो रही कांटे की टक्कर पर है। इस मुकाबले में बाइडेन का पलड़ा ट्रंप के मुकाबले भारी नजर आ रहा है। डेमोक्रेटिक कैंडिडेट जो बाइडेन ने अब तक 264 इलेक्टोरल कॉलेज सीटें जीती हैं, और 270 के जादुई आंकड़े तक पहुंचने के लिए उन्हें सिर्फ 6 और सीटों की जरूरत है। वहीं, राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप के खाते में अब तक 214 इलेक्टोरल कॉलेज सीटें ही आई हैं। अमेरिका के लोग पिछले 3 दिनों से राष्ट्रपति चुनाव के अंतिम नतीजों का बेसब्री से इंतजार कर रहे हैं, जो कि अब मेल-इन बैलट्स की गिनती को लेकर विवादों में घिर गया है।

ट्रंप और बाइडेन के बीच लड़ाई इतनी करीबी हो गई है कि अधिकांश अमेरिकी मीडिया नेटवर्क्स आखिरी वोट गिने जाने तक किसी को विजेता घोषित करने से बच रहे हैं। अंतिम परिणाम 4 प्रमुख राज्यों- जॉर्जिया, नेवाडा, पेंसिल्वेनिया और उत्तरी कैरोलिना से अपेक्षित हैं। नेवाडा को छोड़कर बाकी के 3 राज्यों में ट्रंप थोड़ा आगे हैं, लेकिन किसी भी एक राज्य में जीत हासिल कर बाइडेन बहुमत के आंकड़े को पा लेंगे। जो बाइडेन ने कुल वोटों का 50.5 प्रतिशत हासिल किया है, जबकि ट्रंप को 47.9 प्रतिशत वोट मिले हैं, लेकिन अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति चुनावों में इन वोटों का कोई विशेष महत्व नहीं होता है, बल्कि इलेक्टोरल कॉलेज की सीटें महत्वपूर्ण हैं। पिछले 24 घंटों में बाइडेन ने एरिजोना, मिशिगन, विस्कॉन्सिन और न्यू हैम्पशायर जैसे प्रमुख राज्यों में जीत दर्ज की है, जबकि राष्ट्रपति ट्रंप ने फ्लोरिडा, टेक्सास, आयोवा और ओहायो में जीत हासिल की है।

गुरुवार को ट्रंप ने अपना डेमोक्रेट्स पर एक बार फिर चुनावों में गड़बड़ी करने का आरोप लगाया। उन्होंने दावा किया कि यदि ‘वैध मतों की गिनती की गई तो वही जीतेंगे।’ ट्रंप ने आरोप लगाया कि वोटों की गिनती सही तरीके से नहीं की जा रही है। ट्रम्प ने दावा किया, ‘अगर आप लीगल वोट गिनें तो मैं आसानी से जीत रहा हूं। लेकिन अगर आप अवैध (मेल इन बैलट्स) वोट गिनेंगे तो वे (डेमोक्रेट) इसके जरिए हमसे जीत छीनने की कोशिश कर सकते हैं।’ ट्रंप ने साफ संकेत दिया कि अंतिम नतीजे सुप्रीम कोर्ट से ही आएंगे। ट्रंप ने ट्वीट किया, ‘मैं आसानी से अमेरिका के राष्‍ट्रपति पद का चुनाव जीत जाता अगर केवल कानूनी वोटों को ही डालने की अनुमति दी गई होती। पर्यवेक्षकों को किसी भी तरह से और किसी भी जरिए से अपना काम करने की अनुमति नहीं दी गई और इसलिए जिन लोगों के वोट इस अवधि में स्‍वीकार किए गए उन्‍हें निश्चित रूप से अवैध माना जाना चाहिए। अमेरिका के सुप्रीम कोर्ट को इसका फैसला करना चाहिए।’

इससे पहले जो बाइडेन ने अपने समर्थकों से ‘विश्वास बनाए रखने’ के लिए कहा था। उन्होंने कहा, ‘कोई भी हमारे लोकतंत्र को हमसे छीनने नहीं जा रहा है। अभी नहीं और कभी नहीं। लोगों को न तो चुप कराया जाएगा और न ही डराया-धमकाया जाएगा। हर वोट की गिनती होनी ही चाहिए।’ बाइडेन और ट्रंप के समर्थक अमेरिका की सड़कों पर उतर गए हैं। पूरा अमेरिका में साफ तौर पर दो धड़ों में बंटा हुआ दिखाई दे रहा है। ट्रंप के समर्थकों ने मिशिगन, जॉर्जिया और पेंसिल्वेनिया के नतीजों को चुनौती दी है, जबकि कानूनी विशेषज्ञों का कहना है कि गिनती की प्रक्रिया पूरी होने में थोड़ा वक्त लग सकता है। हालांकि ट्रंप और उनके समर्थक इंतजार करने के मूड में नहीं लग रहे हैं।

न्यूयॉर्क में बाइडेन के हजारों समर्थक सारे वोटों की गिनती की मांग करते हुए सड़कों पर उतर गए और जबर्दस्त विरोध प्रदर्शन किया। फिफ्थ एवेन्यू में इन समर्थकों ने जमकर ट्रंप विरोधी नारे लगाए। कुछ समर्थकों ने तो टायर, प्लाईबोर्ड और बैनर में आग लगाने की भी कोशिश की, लेकिन सुरक्षाबलों उन्हें ऐसा करने से रोक दिया। पोर्टलैंड में हिंसा भड़क गई और ओरेगन के गवर्नर को हालात काबू में करने के लिए नेशनल गार्ड्स को फोन करना पड़ा। ट्रंप और बाइडेन के समर्थकों में कई जगहों पर झड़प हुई और तमाम दुकानों को आग के हवाले कर दिया गया। ब्लैक लाइव्स मैटर के समर्थक सिएटल में सड़कों पर उतर गए और ट्रंप विरोधी नारे लगाए।

सारी तस्वीर को देखकर ऐसा लग रहा है कि ट्रंप और उनके समर्थकों द्वारा कानूनी अड़चनें लगाए जाने के बावजूद बाइडेन राष्ट्रपति चुनाव जीतने की राह पर हैं। हालांकि बाइडेन भले ही चुनाव जीत जाएं, अमेरिका की सड़कों पर दोनों विरोधी गुटों के बीच हिंसा की प्रबल संभावना है। ऐसा लग रहा है कि ‘युनाइटेड स्टेट्स ऑफ अमेरिका’ आज ‘डिवाइडेड स्टेट्स ऑफ अमेरिका’ नजर आ रहा है। यह किसी भी लिहाज से एक अच्छी बात नहीं है और अमेरिका के हालात से चिंतित दुनिया वहां के घटनाक्रम पर नजर रखे हुए है। राजनीतिक रूप से अस्थिर अमेरिका विश्व शांति और सुरक्षा के हित में नहीं है। अब मामला अमेरिका के सुप्रीम कोर्ट में जाता हुआ दिख रहा है, तो ऐसे में काउंटिंग और रीकाउंटिंग का सिलसिला लंबा चलेगा और अमेरिका में अनिश्चितता बनी रहेगी। यदि ऐसा होता है तो ये पूरी दुनिया के लिए चिंता की बात होगी।
