The Mahayuti alliance of BJP and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena has swept the Maharashtra civic bodies elections. The alliance has captured 25 out of 29 corporations. BJP alone has captured 17 civic bodies.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has emerged as a big leader in his own right in these elections. He proved what he promised and predicted. Hopes of Uddhav Thackeray now lie in shambles.
Uddhav, with his cousin Raj Thackeray, could not save his family’s last fortress – BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation), India’s richest civic body.
The BJP-Shinde Sena combine has captured BMC wiining 118 out of a total of 227 seats. BJP emerged as the single largest with 89 seats, while Shiv Sena (Shinde) won 29 seats. The BJP candidate will become the new mayor.
Uddhav’s Shiv Sena emerged second largest in BMC winning 65 seats while brother Raj’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena could win only six seats, despite fielding 53 candidates.
Among the rest, in the BMC polls, Congress could win only 24 seats, AIMIM won 8, NCP (Ajit Pawar) won three, Samajwadi Party won two and NCP (Sharad Pawar) won one seat.
Shinde’s Shiv Sena performed better in other civic bodies compared to Uddhav’s party. The uncle-nephew duo of Sharad and Ajit Pawar could not save their hold on Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
There was silence in the Shiv Sena Bhawan as results of civic body polls started pouring in. Raj Thackeray on Saturday said, his party would continue to work for the betternment of Marathi Manoos.
The Mahayuti alliance fought under the leadership of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. He chalked out his poll strategy, visited every city and town to campaign and the credit for this stupendous win must surely go to him.
Not only Mumbai, Fadnavis magic worked in his hometown Nagpur. The Mahayuti defeated the uncle-nephew duo of Sharad-Ajit Pawar in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, snatched Parbhani from Congress and won Aurangabad and Nashik.
Never in Maharashtra’s history was civic elections won on this scale by the BJP. All-out efforts were made by rival camps to defeat him but they failed.
Uddhav and Raj Thackeray bade goodbye to their two-decade-old enmity, Sharad Pawar and his nephew Ajit buried their hatchets, Congress tied up with Prakash Ambedkar, new relationships were created, fresh alliances were forged, but BJP-led Mahayuti’s march to victory put paid to the hopes of the opposition.
The worst was in store for Congress, a party which once ruled Maharashtra for decades.
The proble with Congress is: it finds reason for its defeat sometimes in EVMs, sometimes in electoral lists and now in indelible ink. Other opposition parties quickly follow its tune.
If the diagnosis of a disease is incorrect, how can one expect a proper treatment? Until and unless they realize that parties like BJP make preparations for polls in advance, opposition parties cannot find their road to victory.

महाराष्ट्र के नगर निगम चुनावों में बीजेपी और एकनाथ शिंदे वाली शिवसेना को प्रचण्ड जीत हासिल हुई है. कुल 29 नगर निगमों में से 25 पर महायुति का कब्ज़ा हो गया है. इनमें से 17 पर अकेले बीजेपी का कब्ज़ा हो गया है.
मुख्यमंत्री देवेन्द्र फडणवीस इन चुनावों में महाराष्ट्र के सबसे बड़े लीडर बनकर उभरे. फडणवीस ने जो कहा था, वो करके दिखाया. उनकी भविष्यवाणी सही साबित हुई और उद्धव ठाकरे की सारी उम्मीदों पर पानी फिर गया.
उद्धव ठाकरे राज ठाकरे के साथ मिलकर भी अपना आखिरी गढ़ वृहन्मुम्बई म्यूनिसिपल कॉर्पोरेशन (बीएमसी) को बचा नहीं पाये. पहली बार मुंबई में BMC पर बीजेपी-शिंदे सेना महायुति का कब्जा हो गया.
बीएमसी के कुल 227 वार्ड में से BJP ने 89, शिवसेना (शिंदे) ने 29, कांग्रेस ने 24, शिवसेना (UBT) ने 65 और MNS ने 6 सीटें जीती. AIMIM को 8, NCP को 3, समाजवादी पार्टी को 2 और NCP (शरद पवार) को सिर्फ एक सीट मिली।
एकनाथ शिन्दे की पार्टी ने उद्धव ठाकरे की शिव सेना से बेहतर प्रदर्शन किया. पुणे और पिंपरी-चिंचवड़ में अजित पवार और शरद पवार मिलकर भी बीजेपी को नहीं रोक पाए लेकिन दूसरे इलाकों में भतीजा, अपने चाचा पर भारी पड़ा. शरद पवार की पार्टी की हालत सबसे बुरी हुई. चुनाव में कांग्रेस की लुटिया डूब गई.
बीजेपी के बाद सबसे अच्छा स्ट्राइक रेट असदुद्दीन ओवैसी की पार्टी AIMIM का रहा. मुंबई में उसके 8 पार्षद जीते.
शुक्रवार को शिवसेना भवन में सन्नाटा छाया रहा. राज ठाकरे ने कहा कि इस हार के बावजूद उनकी पार्टी मराठी मानुष के हितों के लिए काम करती रहेगी.
शिवसेना की BMC से विदाई तीस साल के बाद हुई है. यहां बीजेपी-शिंदे शिवसेना की महायुति को 118 सीट मिलीं हैं जो बहुमत के आंकड़े से चार ज्यादा है.
करीब 20 साल बाद एक साथ आए ठाकरे बंधु अपना गढ़ नहीं बचा पाए. उद्धव शिव सेना को 65 और राज ठाकरे की मनसे को 6, यानि कुल 71 सीटें ही मिल पाई. राज ठाकरे की पार्टी 53 उम्मीदवार खड़े किये, लेकिन सिर्फ 6 सीटों पर जीत मिली.
BMC में पहली बार बीजेपी सबसे बड़ी पार्टी बनी और उसी को मेयर का पद मिलेगा. राज्य की 29 महानगर पालिकाओं में से 25 में महायुति को जीत मिली है. इसमें से 22 में बीजेपी का मेयर बनना तय है.
चूंकि फडणवीस के नेतृत्व में चुनाव लड़े गये, फडणवीस ने खुद रणनीति बनाई, सारे जिलों में जाकर खुद प्रचार किया, इसलिए इस ऐतिहासिक जीत का श्रेय फडणवीस को ही मिलेगा.
सिर्फ मुंबई नहीं, फडणवीस के अपने शहर नागपुर में बीजेपी ने जबरदस्त परफॉर्म किया, पुणे और पिंपरी-चिंचवड़ में शरद पवार और अजीत पवार की जोड़ी को मात दी, परभणी नगर पालिका कांग्रेस से छीन ली और औरंगाबाद, नासिक में भी परचम लहराया.
इसलिए ये तो कहना पड़ेगा कि इस मुकाबले में ‘मैन ऑफ द मैच’ देवेन्द्र फडणवीस ही हैं.
महाराष्ट्र के चुनाव में बीजेपी की इतनी बड़ी जीत पहले कभी नहीं हुई. लेकिन ये भी सच है कि महाराष्ट्र के चुनाव में देवेंद्र फडणवीस को हराने के लिए इतनी बड़ी कोशिश भी कभी नहीं हुई. क्या-क्या नहीं किया गया ?
उद्धव और राज ठाकरे पुरानी दुश्मनी भुलाकर साथ आए. शरद पवार और अजित पवार ने रिश्तों की कड़वाहट भुला दी. कांग्रेस ने प्रकाश आंबेडकर के साथ गठजोड़ किया, नए रिश्ते जुड़े, नये गठबंधन बने लेकिन बीजेपी की प्रचंड जीत ने सारी कोशिशों को नाकाम साबित कर दिया.
सबसे बुरी हालत कांग्रेस की हुई जिसका एक जमाने में महाराष्ट्र पर एकछत्र राज था.
समस्या ये है कि कांग्रेस अपनी हार की वजह कभी EVM में ढूंढती है, कभी स्याही में, तो कभी वोटर लिस्ट में और अब बाकी विरोधी दल भी इसी लाइन पर चल पड़े.
जब बीमारी का diagnosis ही गलत होगा तो वो इलाज कैसे करेंगे ? जबतक वो ये नहीं देखेंगे कि बीजेपी कितनी एडवांस में तैयारी शुरू कर देती है, तब तक उन्हें जीत का रास्ता नहीं मिलेगा.

भारतीय जनता पार्टी और एकनाथ शिंदे की शिव सेना ने महाराष्ट्र के 29 नगर निगमों के चुनाव में 23 में बम्पर बढ़त हासिल कर ली है. सबसे चौकाने वाला नतीजा रहा, देश के सबसे अमीर नगर निगम, बीएमसी (वृहन्मुम्बई म्युनिसिपल कॉर्पोरेशन) का. यहां बीजेपी और शिंदे शिव सेना की महायुति ने उद्धव ठाकरे की शिव सेना से मुंबई नगर निगम को छीन लिया है. महायुति बीएमसी में आधी से ज्यादा सीटों पर अब काबिज़ है.
इसके साथ ही पिछले 25 साल से स्वर्गीय बालासाहेब ठाकरे की अविभाजित शिव सेना का बीएमसी पर जो कब्ज़ा था, वो अब समाप्त हो गया है. बीएमसी में बीजेपी का कमल फूल खिला है.
बीएमसी पर ठाकरे परिवार का कब्ज़ा कायम रखने के लिए उद्धव और राज ठाकरे ने दो दशकों की कटुता को भुला कर हाथ मिलाया था लेकिन चुनाव नतीजों में दोनों की पार्टियां औंधे मुंह गिरी. राज ठाकरे की एमएनएस दहाई का आंकड़ा भी पार नहीं कर पाई.
मुंबई, नागपुर, पुणे, ठाणे, नासिक में बीजेपी की बम्पर जीत का श्रेय जाता है, राज्य के मुख्यमंत्री देवा भाऊ को.
देवेंद्र फडणवीस ने इन चुनावों में जान लगा दी, कड़ी मेहनत की, हर शहर और नगर में प्रचार करने गये और नतीजे सामने हैं. अगर हम ‘फडणवीस इज़ किंग’ कहें, तो अतिशयोक्ति नहीं होगी.
सिर्फ मुंबई ही नहीं, ठाणे, पिम्परी-चिंचवड, अकोला, पुणे, नागपुर, नाशिक, सोलापुर, लाटुर, नवी मुंबई में बीजेपी की महायुति को कामयाबी हासिल हुई.
उद्धव और राज ठाकरे ने जम कर मराठी कार्ड खेला, मराठी अस्मिता की दुहाई दी, अपने बेटों आदित्य और अमित को गली-मुहल्लों में जाकर वोट मांगने के लिए भेजा, लेकिन कामयाबी नसीब नहीं हुई. अब बालासाहेब ठाकरे की राजनीतिक विरासत पर एक गंभीर प्रश्नचिह्न लग गया है.
शरद पवार का परिवार अपने पुराने गढ़ों में हार गया. चाचा-भतीजा ने चुनाव में हाथ मिलाया लेकिन ये काम नहीं आया.
कांग्रेस ने ‘एकला चलो’ का रास्ता अपनाया, कुछ स्थानीय पार्टियों से हाथ मिलाया, पर नतीजा सिफर निकला. कांग्रेस के परफ़र्मेंस के बारे में कुछ ज्यादा न कहें, तो बेहतर.
याद रखना चाहिए कि बीएमसी का ये चुनाव 2022 में शिव सेना में विभाजन के बाद पहली बार हुआ था. एकनाथ शिंदे की शिव सेना को बीजेपी के साथ रहने का फायदा मिला.
आखिर चुनाव नतीजे क्या कहते हैं ? आम वोटर, चाहे वो मुंबई का हो या ठाणे या पुणे का, वो अपने शहरों में सुशासन चाहता है. आम जनता रोज़ रोज़ सड़क, बिजली, पानी, शिक्षा, परिवहन जैसी समस्याओं से परेशान हैं. आम वोटर इन परेशानियों का निदान चाहता है और उसे आशा की किरन बीजेपी में नज़र आई है.
जनता रोज़ रोज़ मराठी बनाम गैर-मराठी, हिंदू बनाम मुसलमान, भारत बनाम पाकिस्तान जैसे मसलों पर नेताओं की बकझक से तंग आ चुकी है. उसे सुशासन चाहिए, ज़मीनी स्तर पर अपने शहर में स्वच्छ पानी, साफ सुथरी सड़क, अच्छे स्कूल, सुगम परिवहन जैसी सुविधाएं चाहिए.
जनता प्रॉपर्टी टैक्स और तमाम दूसरे टैक्स के जरिए पैसे देती है, लेकिन नगर निगम अपना काम नहीं करते. जनता चाहती है कि उन्हें कम से कम एक अच्छी ज़िंदगी जीने का अवसर तो मिले.

The BJP-Shiv Sena (Shinde) Mahayuti alliance has swept the elections in most of the 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra. The icing on the cake is the historic victory in India’s richest civic body, BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation). BJP and its ally wrested control of BMC from Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena.
With this, the hold that the late Balasaheb Thackeray’s united Shiv Sena had on BMC for the last 25 years has now come to an end, despite the fact that cousins Uddhav and Raj Thackeray’s parties joined hands after nearly two decades of bitterness.
The credit for BJP’s amazing victory goes to Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who campaigned tirelessly in each of the municipal corporations. He put everything at stake to achieve victory, and he did succeed. In short, we can say, Fadnavis is King.
His BJP-led alliance swept elections not only in Mumbai, but also Thane, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Akola, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Solapur, Latur, Navi Mumbai and in several other towns. Overall, BJP was leading in 23 out of 29 civic bodies, when last reports came in.
Uddhav and Raj Thackeray tried hard to consolidate Marathi votes and played the Marathi card to the hilt, but failed. The public in Mumbai and other cities wanted good civic governance and opted for BJP and its allies.
This was the first BMC elections after the 2022 split in Shiv Sena and it was a fight for existence for both Uddhav and Raj Thackeray. Their parties failed to get support from the public.
Both Uddhav and Raj brought in their sons Aditya and Amit Thackeray to canvass for voters during door-to-door campaigning, but failed to convince the common voters. The people of Mumbai metropolitan region have been daily facing problems related to roads, water supply, transport, education and other civic amenities.
In this election, the Pawar family also lost its hold in the Maratha-dominated towns despite the fact that nephew Ajit Pawar joined hands with his uncle Sharad Pawar. Both their parties could not convince the voters.
The Congress fought a lone battle, allying with some local parties, but its result was a dud. The less said about the performance of Congress, the better.
Overall, the people of Maharashtra living in cities and towns have sent a clear message. They want good civic governance and not useless talk about Marathi vs non-Marathi, Hindu vs Muslim or India vs Pakistan. They want to live a peaceful life and want value for money, that is being collected by civic bodies in the form of property tax and sundry taxes.

तेलंगाना से दिल दहलाने वाली खबर आई. कामारेड्डी और वारंगल जिले में करीब 500 स्ट्रे डॉग्स की बेरहमी से हत्या कर दी गई. पता लगा कि कामारेड्डी के एक गांव में 6, 7 और 8 जनवरी को स्ट्रे डॉग्स की हत्या का अभियान चला. गांव के सरपंच और ग्राम सचिव ने लोगों के साथ मिलकर खोज खोजकर आवारा कुत्तों की हत्या की.
घटना के बाद स्ट्रे एनिमल फ़ाउंडेशन ऑफ़ इंडिया नाम के NGO ने इसकी FIR करवाई. शुरुआती जांच में पता लगा कि पंचायत चुनाव के दौरान गांव वालों ने उम्मीदवारों से कहा था कि जो गांव में आवारा कुत्तों को मरवाएगा, उसी को वोट देंगे. सभी उम्मीदवारों ने स्ट्रे डॉग्स को खत्म करने का वादा किया था.
चुनाव जीतने के बाद अपना गाव वालों ने सरपंच का वादा याद दिलाया तो सरपंच ने कुत्तों को मारने का फरमान जारी कर दिया और तीन दिन में 300 से ज़्यादा आवारा कुत्तों की हत्या कर दी गई.
तेलंगाना के जगतियाल जिले में भी करीब 50 स्ट्रे डॉग्स को जहर का इजैक्शन लगाकर मारा गया. इस हत्या का एक वीडियो 30 दिसंबर का आया है. इस वीडियो में साफ दिख रहा है कि एक शख्स हाथ में जहर का इंजैक्शन लेकर खड़ा है. जैसे ही कुत्ता उसके करीब आता है वो उसे जहरीला इंजैक्शन लगा देता है. इंजैक्शन लगने के बाद कुत्ता कुछ मीटर दूर जाता है और गिर पड़ता है. कुछ ही मिनटों में कुत्ता तड़प तड़प कर दम तोड़ देता है.
तेलंगाना में जिस तरह आवारा कुत्तों को ज़हर देकर मारा गया, वो हैवानियत है. बेज़ुबान जानवरों की जान लेना कोई समाधान नहीं हो सकता.
सुप्रीम कोर्ट में भी सुनवाई के दौरान बेज़ुबान कुत्तों की आवाज़ उठाने वालों को चुप कराने की कोशिश हुई. एक वकील ने सुझाव दिया कि आवारा कुत्तों को adopt करना एक रास्ता हो सकता है तो जज साहब ने कहा अनाथ बच्चों के adoption की बात क्यों नहीं करते ?
जब आवारा कुत्तों पर हो रहे जुल्म का सवाल उठाया गया तो जज साहब ने कहा कि हम वीडियो चलाएंगे तो पता चलेगा कि इंसानों के साथ क्या होता है.
जब ये सुझाव आया कि नसबंदी एक रास्ता है तो उसपर टिप्पणी हुई कि अब बस कुत्तों की counseling करना ही बाकी रह गया है.
मुझे लगता है कि इस approach से कोई फायदा नहीं होगा. जो लोग बेज़ुबान की आवाज़ उठाते हैं, उनके सुझावों को सुना जाना चाहिए और इस मसले को इंसान और जानवर के बीच टकराव की तरह देखने की बजाय समाधान पर विचार होना चाहिए.

Disturbing news has come from Telangana. Nearly 500 stray dogs have been savagely killed in Kamareddy, Warangal and Jagtial districts.
The mass killing of stray dogs was carried out by professional dog killers on instructions from newly elected sarpanches. They sarpanches had promised voters to kill stray dogs during last month’s panchayat elections.
In Kamareddy district, a campaign to kill stray dogs was carried out on January 6, 7 and 8 by the local panchayats. An NGO, Stray Animals Foundation of India lodged an FIR detailing how local sarpanches killed these animals to fulfill their electoral promises. In three days, more than 300 stray dogs were killed during the operation.
In Jagtial district, nearly 50 stray dogs were administered lethal injections. A video of this act on December 30 has been circulated. It clearly shows a killer injecting the animal with an injection, the dog limps off to a few metres and falls dead.
Poisoning stray dogs to death is outrightly inhuman. This cannot be, and must not be, a solution.
During recent hearings in the Supreme Court, efforts were made to stifle the voices of animal lovers. When a lawyer suggested that adoption of stray dogs could be a way out, the hon’ble judge asked, why not adopt orphans?
When the issue of atrocities on stray dogs was raised, the hon’ble judge responded saying, we can play here videos of what is happening to human beings.
When a suggestion for sterilization was put forward, a remark was made, only counselling of stray dogs is now left.
I think such an approach will not help. Suggestions given by animal lovers, who raise the voice of animals must be heard. A solution must be found instead of viewing this as a human vs animal issue.

Voting for 29 municipal corporations across Maharashtra will take place tomorrow. The political focus is mainly on Mumbai, where the BJP-led Mahayuti is seeking to wrest control of the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) from the Shiv Sena.
Over 3.48 crore voters will decide the fate of 15,931 candidates for 2,869 seats in 893 wards. Counting will take place on January 16.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis led the campaign for the Mahayuti alliance. He campaigned tirelessly across the state. The elections mark the first BMC elections after the 2022 split in Shiv Sena, which has been ruling the civic body for the last 25 years.
The elections also saw the coming together of Thackeray cousins, Uddhav and Raj Thackeray, after two decades, as they sought to consolidate Marathi votes.
Elections are being held after a gap of more than six years, with major civic bodies in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and cities such as Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Thane, Solapur and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar going to the polls.
Instead of local issue, the main topics in the civic polls ranged from Hindu-Muslim to India-Pakistan. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis led a massive road show in Nagpur by riding a motorbike on Tuesday, while Uddhav Thackeray, his son Aditya and Raj Thackeray’s son Amit did door-to-door campaigning.
The elections saw the chief minister campaigning against his deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s party, while Ajit Pawar levelled corruption charges against BJP and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena. Uddhav Thackeray branded CM Fadnavis as anti-Marathi.
Minister in Fadnavis government, Nitesh Rane alleged that Uddhav Thackeray is trying to appease Muslim voters.
Several BJP leaders alleged Eknath Shinde’s partymen were distributing money to voters, while in Ambernath and Kalyan-Dombivali, BJP and Eknath Shinde’s Sena supporters came to blows.
All political equations were thrown to the winds and alliances were given a go-by during the civic polls.
Questions arise: Will the rivalry that is being noticed now continue after the results are out on Jan 16?
Will Uddhav Thackeray’s Sena again join hands with Congress?
Will BJP and Eknath Shinde’s Sena manage to remove bitterness?
Will Ajit Pawar and his uncle Sharad Pawar’s parties unite after the civic poll results are out?
An amazing scenario unfolded during the civic polls. Ideologies and alliances were given the go-by. There was hardly any distinction between friends and enemies.
Devendra Fadnavis toiled hard during campaigning. Uddhav and Raj Thackeray made it an existential issue.
If the Thackeray cousins lose this time in BMC, their parties will be in deep waters. This election will also be a test for the late Balasaheb Thackeray’s legacy. It was the late Balasaheb Thackeray who used to wield his remote to run BMC.
Secondly, decency and restraint were thrown to the winds by speakers of all main parties during the campaign while making accusations.
One leader said, BJP will separate Mumbai from the rest of Maharashtra, while another leader said, Uddhav Thackeray will install a Muslim as Mumbai mayor. Uddhav Thackeray said, if BJP comes to power, it will install a Hindu as mayor, not a Marathi as mayor.
This civic election saw principles thrown to the winds while choosing allies. I think this trend will be seen in Maharashtra politics in the coming weeks.

बीजेपी और एकनाथ शिंदे की शिवसेना वाली महायुति वृहन्मुम्बई नगर निगम पर पुरानी एकीकृत शिवसेना का 25 साल से चला आ रहा कब्ज़ा खत्म करने की पुरज़ोर कोशिश कर रही है, जबकि इस बार उद्धव और राज ठाकरे दोनों मिल कर टक्कर दे रहे हैं. 2022 में शिवसेना में विभाजन होने के बाद पहली बार बीएमसी का चुनाव हो रहा है. शिवसेना पिछले 25 साल से इस नगर निगम पर काबिज़ है.
चुनाव नगर निगमों का है, लेकिन कैम्पेन के मुद्दे हिन्दु-मुसलमान से लेकर भारत और पाकिस्तान तक पहुंच गए. मुख्यमंत्री देवेन्द्र फडणवीस बाइक पर नागपुर में घूमे, पुणे में अपने ही डिप्टी सीएम अजित पवार की पार्टी के खिलाफ प्रचार किया, अजित पवार ने बीजेपी और एकनाथ शिन्दे की शिवसेना पर भ्रष्टाचार के इल्जाम लगाए, उद्धव ठाकरे ने देवेन्द्र फडणवीस को मराठी विरोधी करार दिया तो नितेश राणे ने उद्धव ठाकरे पर मुसलमानों के वोट के लिए भगवा छोड़कर हरा चोला ओढ़ने का इल्जाम लगा दिया.
बीजेपी के नेताओं ने एकनाथ शिन्दे की पार्टी पर वोटर्स को पैसा बांटने का इल्जाम लगाया. कल्याण डोम्बिवली और अम्बरनाथ में तो बीजेपी और शिन्दे की शिवसेना के कार्यकर्ता आपस मे भिड़ गए, खून खराबा तक हो गया. यानि महाराष्ट्र में महानगर पालिका के चुनाव जीतने के लिए सारे समीकरण टूट गए, सारे गठबंधन बिखर गए.
सवाल ये है कि जो दुश्मनी आज दिख रही है, क्या वो 16 जनवरी को चुनाव नतीजे आने के बाद भी जारी रहेगी? या 16 जनवरी के बाद उद्धव ठाकरे और कांग्रेस फिर साथ साथ दिखेंगे? क्या बीजेपी और शिन्दे की शिवसेना की कड़वाहट दूर हो जाएगी? क्या नगर निगम चुनाव के बाद अजित पवार और शरद पवार साथ साथ आ जाएंगे?
देवेंद्र फडणवीस ने कहा कि इस बार मुंबई में बदलाव तय है, BMC में महायुति का ही मेयर होगा. पिछले चार साल में सियासी समीकरण बदले हैं. अब उद्धव ठाकरे के हाथ से पार्टी निकल चुकी है, चुनाव निशान भी चला गया है और महाराष्ट्र में उद्धव ठाकरे की पार्टी का एक ही गढ़ मुंबई बचा है. इसलिए बीजेपी BMC पर कब्जे की पूरी कोशिश कर रही है.
उद्धव को सबसे ज्यादा टेंशन BMC को लेकर है. प्रचार के आखिरी दिन उद्धव ठाकरे और आदित्य ठाकरे मुंबई की सड़कों पर पैदल घूमे, घर-घर जाकर वोट मांगे. उद्धव ठाकरे अंधेरी के संघर्ष नगर इलाके में गए, वोटर्स से मिले.
महाराष्ट्र में स्थानीय निकाय चुनावों में इस बार कमाल का नज़ारा देखने को मिला. न किसी ने विचारधारा की परवाह की, न गठबंधन की. न दोस्ती काम आई, न दुश्मनी.
देवेंद्र फडणवीस ने इन चुनावों में जान लगा दी. उद्धव और राज ठाकरे के लिए ये अस्तित्व का सवाल बन गया. ये दोनों इस बार BMC चुनाव हार गए तो कहीं के नहीं रहेंगे. इस चुनाव में बालासाहेब ठाकरे की विरासत का भी इम्तिहान होगा. BMC का रिमोट हमेशा बालासाहेब के हाथ में रहा.
इस बार चुनाव जीतने के लिए न आरोपों की मर्यादा रखी गई, न भाषा की. किसी ने कहा कि बीजेपी वाले मुंबई को महाराष्ट्र से अलग कर देंगे, किसी ने कहा कि ठाकरे मुसलमान को मेयर बना देंगे. ठाकरे ने कहा कि बीजेपी आई तो हिंदू को मेयर बनाएंगे, मराठी को नहीं.
सबसे बड़ी बात है कि चुनाव लड़ते समय गठबंधन का साथी चुनने में सिद्धांतों को ताक पर रख दिया गया. मुझे लगता है कि महाराष्ट्र में राजनीति का ये ट्रेंड काफी दिनों तक दिखाई देगा.

एक NRI बुजुर्ग दम्पति से साइबर ठगों ने करीब पन्द्रह करोड़ रूपए ठग लिए. .बुजुर्ग दम्पति को उनके फोन से अश्लील मैसेज भेजने और मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग की FIR होने के नाम पर डराया, गिरफ्तारी वारंट का डर दिखाया, फिर फर्जी पुलिस अफसरों से बात करवाई, कोर्ट कचहरी का ड्रामा किया और दो-दो करोड़ करके करीब 15 करोड़ रूपए ट्रांसफर करवा लिए.
हैरानी की बात ये है कि जिस दम्पति के साथ ये ठगी हुई, वो पैसा ट्रंसफर करने पति-पत्नी बैंक गए, बैंक के कर्मचारियों ने उनसे इतनी बड़ी रकम ट्रांसफर करने की वजह पूछी, अगले हफ्ते ट्रांजैक्शन करने को कहा, लेकिन ठगों ने इन बुजुर्गों को इतना ज्यादा डरा दिया था कि उन्होंने बैंक अफसरों के सामने पैसा ट्रांसफर कराने की वही कहानी सुनाई, जो ठगों ने उन्हें सिखाई थी.
15 करोड़ रूपए ट्रांसफर करने के बाद भी इन बुजुर्गों ने पुलिस को सूचना नहीं जी, थाना तब गए, जब ठगों ने कहा कि अब जाकर पुलिस को खबर दो. बुजुर्ग ये सोचकर थाना पहुंचे कि अब सारे केस क्लीयर हो गए, थाना पहुंचेंगे तो पैसा वापस मिल जाएगा लेकिन पुलिस के पास पहुंचे तब पता चला कि उनके साथ धोखाधड़ी हुई है, वो ठगे जा चुके हैं.
डॉक्टर ओम तनेजा और उनकी पत्नी इंदिरा तनेजा दिल्ली के पॉश इलाके ग्रेटर कैलाश में रहते हैं. दोनों NRI हैं, ओम पेश से इंजीनियर हैं, संयुक्त राष्ट्र की नौकरी से रिटायर हुए हैं और उनकी पत्नी इंदिरा तनेजा शिशु चिकित्सक हैं. इनके बच्चे अमेरिका में रहते हैं.
ओम और इंदिरा तनेजा 45 साल अमेरिका में रहने के बाद समाज सेवा के लिए 2015 में भारत लौटे, अब समाज सेवा करते हैं. दोनों शिक्षित हैं लेकिन ठगों के झांसे में फंस गए.
साइबर अपराधियों ने वही तरीका आज़माया जो ठगी के हर केस में होता है. इंदिरा तनेजा के पास एक फोन आया, कॉल करने वाले ने बताया कि वो TRAI से है, उनका फोन नंबर ब्लॉक किया जा रहा है क्योंकि इस नंबर से आपत्तिजनक कंटेंट जा रहे हैं, उनके खिलाफ मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग का केस दर्ज है. इसके बाद ये कॉल ट्रांसफर कर दी गई.
वीडियो कॉल पर पुलिस की वर्दी में एक शख्स था. उसने इंदिरा तनेजा से कहा कि उन्हें मुंबई आना होगा. इंदिरा ने कहा कि उनके पति का ऑपरेशन हुआ था, वो मुंबई नहीं आ सकती.
जैसे ही ठगों को लगा कि इंदिरा तनेजा घबरा गई हैं तो उन्होंने खेल शुरू कर दिया. उन्हें डराने के लिए फर्जी अरेस्ट वॉरंट भेजा. उनकी अकाउंट की डिटेल मांगी गई और फिर उन्हें डिजिटल अरेस्ट कर लिया गया.
पहले दिन गिरोह के लोग डॉक्टर इंदिरा तनेजा से दिखावे के लिए डॉक्यूमेंटेशन करवाते रहे, सबकुछ सही लगे इसलिए नोटरी सीक्रेट सुपरविज़न अकाउंट का एक डॉक्यूमेट भेजा, इसमें यस बैंक का एक अकाउंट नंबर दिया गया था.
डाक्य़ूमेंट में लिखा था कि यस बैंक के इस खाते के जरिए इंदिरा तनेजा की सम्पत्तियों की जांच की जाएगी. इसके बाद इंदिरा तनेजा से अपना सारा पैसा इस अकाउंट में जमा कराने को कहा गया.
ठगों को मालूम था कि जब इंदिरा तनेजा करोड़ों रूपए ट्रांसफर करने जाएंगी तो बैंक वाले वजह पूछेंगे. इसलिए ठगों ने उन्हें ये भी बताया कि बैंक वालों से क्या कहना है. .इंदिरा तनेजा ने बैंक कर्मचारियों को वही कहानी सुनाई जो ठगों ने उन्हें सिखाई थी, बैंक के लोगों ने अगले हफ्ते पैसा ट्रांसफर करने को कहा लेकिन इंदिरा तनेजा ने जिद करके 8 बार में करीब 15 करोड़ की रकम ट्रांसफर की.
साइबर ठगों ने 17 दिन तक ओम और इंदिरा तनेजा को डिजिटल अरेस्ट करके रखा, किसी से बात नहीं करने दी. अपराधियों ने डॉक्टर इंदिरा तनेजा को धमकी दी कि अगर उन्होंने किसी को इसके बारे में बताया तो उनके बच्चों की जान को खतरा हो सकता है, जिन लोगों ने उनके फोन नंबर से मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग की है, वो उनके परिवार की जान ले सकते हैं.
डॉक्टर तनेजा ने अपने वकील से बात करने को कहा, तो ठगों ने कहा कि ये राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा का मामला है. जब ओम और इंदिरा अपने बच्चों से फोन पर बात करते थे, उस वक्त भी अपराधी दूसरे फोन पर वीडियो कॉल करके उन पर नजर रखते थे.
यस बैंक और एक्सिस बैंक के खातों में करीब 15 करोड़ रुपये इंदिरा तनेजा ने ट्रांसफर करवाए. साइबर ठगों ने इंदिरा तनेजा को इस बात का भरोसा दिला दिया कि जो पैसा उन्होंने ट्रांसफर किया है वो उनके खाते में वापस आ जाएगा.
ठगों ने इंदिरा तनेजा से कहा कि उन्हें क्लीन चिट दे दी गई है. फिर उनके पति को क्लीन चिट देने के लिए 50 लाख रुपये और लिए गए. ये सब 10 जनवरी की सुबह तक चलता रहा. लेकिन इसके बाद भी इंदिरा और ओम तनेजा को समझ नहीं आया कि उन्हें ठगा गया है. वो अपने पैसा वापस आने का इंतजार करते रहे.
जब उन्होंने ठगों को फोन करके पूछा कि जांच पूरी हो गई है या नहीं, तो ठगों ने इंदिरा तनेजा से कहा कि वो नजदीक के थाने में जाएं और वहां जाकर पैसा वापस ले लें. इंदिरा तनेजा पैसा वापस लेने थाने पहुंची और तब पता चला कि उनके साथ फ्रॉड हुआ है. मामला अब दिल्ली पुलिस के IFSO विभाग को सौप दिया गया है. पता ये चला है कि इस दम्पति से हड़पे गये पैसे सात राज्यों में अलग अलग बैंक खातों में जमा हुए. ये बैंक खाते किसी फाउंडेशन या किसी प्राइवेट कंपनी के नाम से खोले गये हैं.
सबसे ज्यादा पैसे गुजरात के वड़ोदरा में बैंक खातों में जमा हुए जबकि बाकी पैसे असम, बंगाल, मुंबई, दिल्ली, उत्तर प्रदेश और उत्तराखंड में बैंक खातों में जमा हुए. पुलिस को शक है कि ये पैसे 500 से ज्यादा म्यूल (फर्जी) बैंक खातों और डिजिटल वॉलेट्स में छोटी-छोटी रकम के रूप में जमा कराय गये. अब तक पुलिस 1.4 करोड़ रु. पर रोक लगा पाई है.
साइबर फ्रॉड का पैमाना काफी बड़ा है. पिछले साल देशभर में करीब 20 हज़ार करोड़ रूपये का साइबर फ्रॉड हुआ. करीब 22 लाख शिकायते आई, कुल ठगी में से 45 प्रतिशत फ्रॉड का स्रोत तीन दक्षिणपूर्व एशियाई देश – कंबोडिया, म्यांमार और लाओस थे.
जो साइबर फ्रॉड दिल्ली के ग्रेटर कैलाश में हुआ, वो बहुत कुछ सिखाता है. ठगी के शिकार पति-पत्नी इंजीनियर और डॉक्टर हैं. दोनों ने दुनिया देखी है, फिर भी पहचान नहीं पाए कि पुलिस नकली थी, कोर्ट नकली था, कागज़ात फर्जी थे, केस झूठा था, डिजिटल अरेस्ट जैसी कोई चीज नहीं होती.
फिर भी साइबर अपराधियों ने उन्हें डराकर 15 करोड़ रूपये ट्रांसफर करवा लिए. ये पैसा वापस मिलना मुश्किल होगा, क्योंकि जब तक पुलिस को पता चला, साइबर ठग ये पैसा अपने विदेशी बैक खातों में ट्रांसफर कर चुके थे.
मैं आपसे सिर्फ इतना कहना चाहता हूं कि अगर कोई आपको डराए, पुलिस या जज बनकर वीडियो पर आए, बैंक से पैसा ट्रांसफर करने को कहे, तो कभी यकीन न करें. पुलिस किसी अरेस्ट वॉरन्ट की बात फोन पर नहीं करती. डिजिटल अरेस्ट जैसी कोई चीज़ नहीं होती.
अगर कोई आपको किसी केस का हवाला देकर डराने की कोशिश करे तो 1930 पर फोन करें ये गृह मंत्रालय का हेल्पलाइन नंबर है. अगर आपको किसी ने ठग लिया और आप 24 घंटे के अंदर तक पुलिस के पास पहुंच गए तो भी पैसे वापस मिलने की संभावना रहती है. खुद भी समझें, दूसरों को भी समझाएं. खुद भी सावधान रहें, दूसरों को भी सावधान करें.

In a shocking case of cyber fraud, a retired NRI couple in Delhi was put under ‘digital arrest’ by a cybercrime gang for 17 days. The couple lost nearly Rs 15 crore before the victims realized that they were scammed.
Dr Om Taneja, a retired engineer and his 77-year-old wife Dr Indira Taneja, a pediatrician, returned to India in 2015 after staying in the US for 45 years. Om Taneja worked in the United Nations.
On December 24, Dr Indira Taneja got a call from a person, who claimed to be from TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India). The man said, their phone numbers will be blocked due to objectionable vulgar content and a case of money laundering has been lodged against them.
A video call began with a person, posing as a CBI official, who asked the couple to come to Mumbai for interrogation.
When the doctor told them that her husband had undergone a surgery and they were unable to go to Mumbai, the fake officials “sent” them a forged arrest warrant and sought details of their bank accounts. The elderly couple was told they have been put under digital arrest.
On the first day, the scamsters carried out “documentation” and sent a document purported to be a notarized secret supervision account. They were given a Yes Bank phone number.
In the notarized “document”, it was written that the couple’s assets would be investigated through this Yes Bank account. Dr Indira Taneja was asked to transfer her entire bank account money to this account.
The gang members knew Dr Taneja’s bank officials would raise questions if she went to the bank to transfer her money. They advised her to give fake reasons.
The bank officials promised to transfer the money after a week, but Dr Taneja insisted on transferring nearly Rs 15 crore in eight tranches to Yes Bank and Axis Bank accounts immediately.
For 17 days, the couple was kept under “digital arrest”. They were not allowed to speak to any other person. Round-the-clock video call monitoring was done by the gang. When Dr Indira Taneja insisted she wanted to speak to her lawyer, the “police official” told her it was a matter of national security and she must keep the matter secret. The gang members promised that her money would be returned once the investigation is over.
After the transactions were over, the couple was told to go to their nearest police station and get the money back. It was when the couple reached the police station, realization dawned that they have been scammed.
The case has now been taken up by Delhi Police IFSO (Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations). It has been found that the NRI couple’s money went to different bank accounts in seven states. These accounts were opened in the name of charitable foundations and private firms.
The maximum amount was transferred to bank accounts in Vadodara(Gujarat), while remaining money was transferred to Assam, West Bengal, Mumbai, Delhi, UP and Uttarakhand.
Police suspect that the scammed money have oven siphoned to over 500 mule accounts and digital wallets through several low value transactions. Police have managed to put Rs 1.4 crore money on hold and the investigation continues.
Cyber fraud has assumed serious proportions in India. Last year, nearly Rs 20,000 crore was lost due to cyber fraud, more than 22 lakh complaints were received and 45 per cent of these frauds originated from three South-East Asian countries, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos.
The later cyber fraud that took place in Delhi’s Greater Kailash-II provides serious lessons. The victims were educated – an engineer and a doctor. They had been around the world for decades and yet they failed to detect a fake police, a fake court and a fake document.
There is nothing called digital arrest in India. Yet, the gang managed to scam Rs 15 crore from their accounts. By the time police was informed, the scamsters managed to siphon off most of the money to other accounts on foreign shores.
I would again like to caution all of you. If anybody posing as a policeman or a judge tries to cheat you by showing fake videos, do not fear. Do not trust their fake claims.
Police never speak about arrest warrant over phone.
If anybody tries to intimidate you, please ring up 1930 – a helpline installed by the Home Ministry.
If you reach out to the police within 24 hours of such a fraud, you can get your scammed money back.

अमेरिका ने मान लिया कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी किसी के सामने नहीं झुकते. अमेरिका ने बता दिया कि राष्ट्रपति डोनल्ड ट्रंप बार बार क्यों कह रहे हैं कि मोदी अच्छे लीडर हैं, उनके अच्छे दोस्त हैं लेकिन आजकल उनसे थोड़े नाराज़ चल रहे हैं.
अमेरिका के वाणिज्य मंत्री हावर्ड लुटनिक ने सार्वजनिक तौर पर माना कि भारत के साथ व्यापार समझौता लगभग तैयार हो चुका था, ट्रंप मोदी के फोन का इंतजार करते रहे, तीन हफ्ते तक हर शुक्रवार को मोदी की कॉल का इंतज़ार किया, लेकिन मोदी ने फोन नहीं किया. इसलिए भारत और अमेरिका के बीच व्यापार समझौता नहीं हो पाया.
अमेरिकी वाणिज्य मंत्री ने खुलासा किया कि ट्रंप चाहते थे कि मोदी उन्हें कॉल करें, व्यापार समझौते के ड्राफ्ट को मंजूर करने की बात कहें, इसके बाद अमेरिका समझौते का ऐलान करेगा, लेकिन मोदी ने ये शर्त नहीं मानी. ट्रंप को फोन नहीं किया इसीलिए समझौता नहीं हो पाया.
अब सवाल ये है कि ट्रंप ऐसा क्यों चाहते थे कि मोदी उन्हें फोन करें, इसके बाद ही वह व्यापार समझौता पर मुहर लगाएंगे,और मोदी ने फोन क्यों नहीं किया?
अब ट्रंप व्यापार समझौते से पहले भारत पर दबाव बनाने के लिए तरह तरह के फॉर्मूले अपना रहे हैं, वेनेजुएला के राष्ट्रपति का अपहरण, रूसी ऑयल टैंकर को जब्त करना और रूस से तेल खरीदने वाले भारत और चीन जैसे देशों पर पांस सौ प्रतिशत तक टैरिफ लगाने वाले बिल पर दस्तखत करना.
क्या ये सब भारत और ऑस्ट्रेलिया जैसे देशों को झुकाने की रणनीति का हिस्सा है?
अमेरिकी वाणिज्य मंत्री लुटनिक ने एक पॉडकास्ट में खुलासा किया कि राष्ट्रपति बनने के बाद ट्रंप ने ब्रिटेन के साथ सबसे पहले व्यपार समझौता किया था, और अगला नंबर भारत का था. सारी बातचीत भी हो गई थी, शर्तें भी तय हो गई थीं.दोनों देशों ने सहमति भी जता दी थी.
अमेरिका इस समझौते के तहत भारत पर टैरिफ़ बहुत कम करने को तैयार था. बस एक आखिरी शर्त थी कि भारत के प्रधानमंत्री ट्रंप को फ़ोन करके व्यपार समझौता करने की इच्छा जताएं. ये शर्त ब्रिटेन के प्रधानमंत्री के सामने भी रखी गई थी. कियर स्टार्मर का फोन अगले ही दिन आ गया था, इसलिए ब्रिटेन के साथ डील हो गई. लेकिन, भारत के प्रधानमंत्री ने फोन नहीं किया.
अमेरिकी वाणिज्य मंत्री ने बताया कि ट्रंप ने तीन हफ़्ते तक प्रधानमंत्री मोदी की कॉल का इंतज़ार किया, मोदी ने कॉल नहीं की, और इसीलिए व्यापार समझौता नहीं हो पाया.
दो दिन पहले रिपब्लिकन पार्टी के सांसदों को संबोधित करते वक्त ट्रंप ने इशारों में यही बात कही थी. उन्होंने कहा था कि आजकल मोदी उनसे थोड़े नाराज हैं. उस वक्त उन्होंने मोदी की नाराजगी को टैरिफ से जोड़कर बात को घुमाने की कोशिश की थी लेकिन आज उनके वाणिज्य मंत्री ने राज़ खोल दिया.
आज भारत ने हावर्ड लुटनिक के खुलासे पर कूटनीतिक लहज़े में जवाब दिया. विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता रणधीर जायसवाल ने कहा कि भारत, अमेरिका के साथ व्यापार समझौता करना चाहता है लेकिन कोई भी समझौता भारत के हितों को ध्यान में रखकर ही होगा. जायसवाल ने कहा कि जहां तक एक कॉल का सवाल है, तो पिछले साल ट्रंप और मोदी के बीच 8 बार फोन पर बात हुई थी.
रूस से तेल खरीदने वाले भारत और चीन जैसे देशों पर 500 परसेंट टैरिफ लगाने वाले बिल पर विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता ने कहा कि अमेरिका अपने यहां कौन सा बिल बनाता है, कितना टैरिफ लगाता है, ये अमेरिका का फैसला है लेकिन भारत अपनी ईंधन की जरूरतों और विश्व बाजार के हिसाब से फ़ैसले लेता है, कोई दूसरा देश क्या कर रहा है, इससे कोई फ़र्क़ नहीं पड़ता.
अमेरिका के वाणिज्य मंत्री की बात ये साबित करती है कि मोदी ट्रंप के दबाव में नहीं आए. भारत अमेरिका के सामने नहीं झुका.
मोदी के लिए देश का स्वाभिमान व्यापार समझौते से ज्यादा महत्वपूर्ण और सर्वोपरि है. वैसे भी भारत आज दुनिया की चौथी सबसे बड़ी अर्थव्यवस्था है. न कोई मोदी को झुका सकता है, न कोई भारत को आगे बढ़ने से रोक सकता है.

The United States has at last admitted Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a person who cannot be bended. This revelation comes in the wake of US President Donald Trump’s recent assertion that Modi is a good leader, a good friend, but “he is not that happy with me because they are paying a lot of tariffs.”
US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has revealed in a podcast interview that the trade deal with India did not happen because Prime Minister Modi did not call President Trump, who was waiting for his call.
Lutnick said there was an expectation that the deal with India would be concluded before those with Indonesia or the Philippines, which were sealed in July 2025, but the effort was derailed because India was “uncomfortable” about setting up a call between Modi and Trump.
The US Commerce Secretary said, India was given a clear and time=bound window – “three Fridays” – to finalise the negotiations, but the Indian government was not comfortable with this and Modi did not eventually make the call.
The question is, why Trump wanted Modi to make the phone call before the deal was to be sealed and why Modi did not ring him up?
Trump is now applying other tools to put pressure on India, by seizing Russian-flagged oil tankers and signing a bill to impose tariff up to 500 per cent on countries like India and China which buy Russian oil. Is it part of a strategy to bend countries like India and Australia to agree to a deal with the US?
According to Lutnick, the US was ready to impose a low tariff as per the draft trade deal with India, but the final condition was that Prime Minister Modi should make a phone call to Trump.
The same phone call condition was put before UK and the British PM Keir Starmer rang up Trump immediately and their deal was sealed.
Trump’s hurt ego was evident from the remarks that he made while addressing Republican party MPs two days ago. Trump had said that he knew Modi was not happy with him nowadays. Trump did not reveal the reason, but it was his Commerce Secretary who let the cat out of the bag.
On Friday, India’s External Affairs ministry gave a diplomatic response to Lutnick’s revelation. Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “the characterisation of these discussions in the reported remarks is not accurate.”
He said, “We remain interested in a mutually beneficial trade deal between two complementary economies and look forward to concluding it. Incidentally, Prime Minister Modi and President Trump have also spoken on the phone on eight occasions during 2025, covering different aspects of our wide-ranging partnership.”
On the US bill to impose tariff up to 500 per cent on countries buying Russian oil, the spokesperson said, it is for the US to decide which law to enact and how much tariff it wants to levy, but India takes decisions based on its energy requirements and world market. It does not make any difference to us what other countries are doing, he said.
The US Commerce Secretary remarks clearly establish that Modi did not bend under pressure from Trump. India did not succumb to US pressure.
For Modi, India’s self-respect is supreme and more important than a trade deal. India is the world’s fourth largest economy today. Nobody can bend Modi, nor can anybody stop India from marching towards progress.
