कोलकाता रेप-मर्डर केस : CBI के सामने चुनौती
सुप्रीम कोर्ट में जिस दिन कोलकाता आर.जी.कर अस्पताल में हुई रेप-हत्या के मामले को लेकर लम्बी सुनवाई चल रही थी, उसी दिन मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी को एक चिट्ठी लिख कर सुझाव दिया कि देश में प्रतिदन औसतन बलात्कार की तकरीबन 90 घटनाएं होती है, और इसे रोकने के लिए विशेष फास्ट ट्रैक कोर्ट बनाया जाय, जहां 15 दिन के अंदर सुनवाई पूरी करके सज़ा सुना दी जाय. ममता बनर्जी चिट्ठी लिखकर अपनी जिम्मेदारी से नहीं बच सकती. स्पेशल फास्ट ट्रैक कोर्ट बनने चाहिए, ये बात उन्हें इतनी देर से याद क्यों आई?बलात्कार के मामलों में हत्या कर दी जाती है, ये उन्हें इतना बड़ा कांड हो जाने के बाद क्यों समझ में आया? अभिषेक बनर्जी ये गिनती गिनाकर नहीं बच सकते कि पिछले 10 दिन में देश भर में बलात्कार के 900 घटनाएं हुई. उन्हें अभी याद आया कि देश में सख्त कानून की जरूरत है? और वो ये भी ज्ञान दे रहे हैं कि ये काम तो केंद्र सरकार को करना है. वो ये क्यों भूल गए कि कानून और व्यवस्था राज्य सरकार की जिम्मेदारी है? जिस हॉस्पिटल में ये घिनौनी वारदात हुई, वह भी राज्य सरकार के अधीन है. इस मामले में कोलाकाता पुलिस ने लापरवाही की इसीलिए ये केस इतना बड़ा बना. इस केस में राज्य सरकार ने प्रिंसिपल को बचाने की कोशिश की, इसीलिए डॉक्टर्स को इतना ज्यादा गुस्सा आया. जब ये केस कलकत्ता हाईकोर्ट ने CBI को सौंपा, तो भीड़ भेजकर सबूत मिटाने की कोशिश की गई, इसीलिए आक्रोश बढ़ा. सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने जब स्वत: संज्ञान लेते हुए इस केस पर सुनवाई की, तो रातों रात 4 डॉक्टर्स को बर्खास्त करके मामले पर पानी डालने की कोशिश की गई, इसीलिए शक और बढ़ा. और जब ममता बनर्जी और अभिषेक बनर्जी को लगा कि राजनीतिक रूप से उन्हें नुकसान हो रहा है, तो सारी जिम्मेदारी मोदी सरकार पर डालने की कोशिश की. लेकिन इस बात को भूलना नहीं चाहिए कि उन्होंने ही ये केस CBI को सौपने पर नाराजगी जाहिर की थी. जब तक नेता इस तरह के दोहरे मापदंड रखेंगे, जब तक ये सोच नहीं बदलेगी, तब तक बेटियों को न्याय मिलना मुश्किल है. जब तक अपराधियों को ये लगता रहेगा कि कोई उन्हें बचाने आएगा, तब तक उनके दिलों में खौफ पैदा करना मुश्किल है. जब तक पुलिस के काम करने का तरीका नहीं बदलेगा, तब तक बेटियों को न्याय मिलना और बेटियों पर बुरी नजर रखने वालों को जल्दी सजा मिलना मुश्किल होगा. जहां तक आर.जी.कर अस्पताल में हुई वीभत्स घटना का सवाल है, इस पूरे मामले के अब तीन पहलू हैं. पहला, हॉस्पिटल में हुई निर्मम हत्या के बाद सबूत मिटाने की कोशिश, अपराधियों को बचाने की कोशिश, प्रोटेस्ट करने वालों को धमकाने की कोशिश. ये मामला अब CBI की जांच का हिस्सा है, सुप्रीम कोर्ट की निगाह इस पर है. जरूरत इस बात की है कि जांच जल्दी पूरी हो, कोर्ट अपराधियों को जल्दी से जल्दी सजा दे. दूसरा पहलू है, हॉस्पिटल में लेडी डॉक्टर्स और महिला स्टाफ की सुरक्षा. इस पर ध्यान देना और भी जरूरी है. आज हर डॉक्टर बेटी के माता पिता को चिंता है कि क्या उनकी बेटी सुरक्षित रहेगी? कोई नहीं चाहता कि उनकी बेटी नाइट ड्यूटी करे. हॉस्पिटल में काम करने वाली बेटियां डर कर, सहम कर अपनी जिंदगी नहीं गुजार सकती. इस हालत को तुरंत बदलना जरूरी है. तीसरा पहलू है, आए दिन हॉस्पिटल्स में डॉक्टर्स के साथ होने वाली गाली गलौज और मारपीट. आम तौर पर ये देखने को मिलता है कि जब भी किसी मरीज की मौत हो जाती है, अगर उसके परिवार वालों को लापरवाही दिखे, उन्हें ये शक हो जाए कि इलाज ठीक से नहीं हुआ, तो वो सीधे डॉक्टर पर हमला करते हैं. डॉक्टर्स इस डर के वातावरण में काम नहीं कर सकते हैं. नैशनल टास्क फोर्स को वर्किंग कंडीशन के साथ साथ इन पहलुओं पर भी विचार करना चाहिए. इसके लिए सबसे जरूरी ये होगा कि टास्क फोर्स के सदस्य हॉस्पिटल्स में काम करने वाली लेडी डॉक्टर, नर्सेज, रेजिडेंट डॉक्टर्स और सीनियर डॉक्टर्स से खुलकर बात करें और फिर अपने सुझाव सुप्रीम कोर्ट को दें. सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कहा है कि वो इस मामले सिर्फ सलाह नहीं देना चाहती, बल्कि आदेश जारी करना चाहती है. इसीलिए जरूरी है कि सारे पहलू सुप्रीम कोर्ट के सामने व्यवस्थित और विज्ञानसम्मत तरीके से पेश किए जाएं.
Kolkata rape-murder : The Challenge Before CBI
On a day when the Supreme Court conducted a detailed hearing on the gruesome rape-murder of a medic in Kolkata’s R.G.Kar Hospital and lambasted the Kolkata Police for 14-hour delay in filing FIR, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding a “stringent central legislation” to “put an end” to rising number of rape cases. Mamata pointed out that on a daily average almost 90 rape incidents take place in India, and to counter these, fast-track special courts be set up to complete trial within 15 days “to ensure quick justice”. Mamata Banerjee cannot absolve herself of the responsibility by writing a missive to the Prime Minister. Why did it take so long for her to demand fast-track special courts to deal with rape cases? Was it because the R.G.Kar hospital rape-murder case hit the national headlines? Her nephew MP Abhishek Banerjee cannot absolve his party by tweeting: “Over the past 10 days, while the nation has been protesting against the R KG Kar Medical College incident and demanding justice, 900 rapes have occurred across different parts of India”. The question is: why now? Is it because of the nationwide outrage over the medical rape-murder incident? And Mamata is pointing out that it is the duty of the Centre to enact legislation. Has she forgotten that law and order subject is the responsibility of state government? The hospital where the gruesome incident took place is controlled by her state government. The case attracted nationwide attention because her Kolkata Police goofed up after the incident and displayed sheer negligence. The state government tried to shield the principal of the medical college, and it was because of this, that doctors had to come out on the streets. When Calcutta High Court handed over the case to CBI, a violent mob of lumpen elements was sent to the hospital to obliterate all vestiges of evidence related to the case. This multiplied the level of anger among protesting doctors. When Supreme Court suo motu took up this case, four senior medical college officials were dismissed overnight in a bid to pour water over the flames. This has now deepened doubts that are being expressed. And when Mamata and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee found out that this incident was causing political harm, they are now trying to shift the goal post to Modi’s government. One must not forget, it was Mamata government which initially opposed handing over the case to CBI. When political leaders apply double standards, it is difficult to change the overall mindset. Securing justice for our daughters will then become difficult. When criminals and rapists start feeling that somebody will come to their rescue, it will be difficult to strike terror in their hearts. Unless the style of working of police is not changed, it will be difficult to ensure quick justice and punish those who indulge in gruesome rapes. As far as the Kolkata R.G. Kar hospital case is concerned, there are three aspects now. One: efforts were made to remove evidence, shield the culprits and intimidate the protesters. The CBI is now conducting the probe and the apex court is keeping a close watch. One expects the probe to end soon and the culprits be exposed and punished. Two: security must be provided to lady doctors and female healthcare staff in hospitals. Every parent of lady doctors is today worried about the safety of his or her daughter. Nobody wants late night duty hours for daughters. We cannot allow our daughters to work in an atmosphere of fear. Working conditions need to be changed. Three: there have been frequent incidents of doctors being abused and beaten up in hospitals when a patient dies. Family members and relatives of the patient attack doctors. Our medics cannot be allowed to work in an atmosphere of fear. The national task force will have to go through these aspects while suggesting changes in working conditions. It is necessary for the task force members to speak to lady doctors, nurses, resident and senior doctors in an open and frank manner, and then formulate suggestions for the apex court. The Supreme Court has already made it clear that it is not going to give advice. It is going to give directions to ensure the safety of doctors and healthcare workers. It is, therefore, necessary that all aspects be dealt with in a systematic and scientific manner and protocols are clearly defined.
Medic’s Rape & Murder: Case of deliberate tampering of the crime scene ?
The Supreme Court on Thursday appealed to all agitating doctors to return to work immediately saying that their abstention from work is adversely affecting people who need urgent treatment in healthcare services. The bench presided by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud assured the doctors that once they rejoin duty, the apex court would ensure that no punitive action is taken against them. Lakhs of patients across India, mostly from poorer section of society, are facing woes due to stoppage of OPD services and surgeries in government hospitals. On Friday, the advocate on behalf of resident doctors requested the court that doctors should be given representation in the National Task Force, but the Chief Justice said this would make the task force unworkable, but he assured that their demands would be heard by the task force. The Chief Justice said, “We are deeply concerned about inhuman working hours, like 36 or 48 hour shifts for doctors, and the task force would also look into streamlining the duty hours of all doctors.” I think all agitating doctors should heed to the appeal of the Supreme Court and return to work immediately. As far as the Kolkata medic rape-murder case is concerned, the apex court today heard in detail about how the state machinery in West Bengal tried to cover up the gruesome act due to deliberate tampering of the crime scene. Naturally, in such gruesome crimes, when people come to know that vital evidence relating to the crime were destroyed in order to shield the culprits, the anger of doctors and of the common public grows. An innocent girl, striving to earn laurels in medicine, was gangraped and murdered brutally, and the doctors were justified in going to the streets to stage protests. Doctors and common public are also angry over the main accused and other suspects not cooperating with the investigators and trying to obfuscate while replying to questions. Meanwhile, Kolkata Police is playing a new game by filing cases against the ex-principal of the medical college Dr Sandip Ghosh. There is likelihood of Kolkata Police trying to secure custody of Dr Ghosh from CBI. Questions are still being raised about who sent the violent mob to destroy evidence inside the hospital of August 14 midnight. This is still shrouded in mystery. I commend the doctors who displayed unity in bringing this issue to national limelight, but, considering the woes of lakhs of patients, it is now time for them to heed to the court’s appeal and return to work. The sooner, the better.
हॉस्पिटल में बर्बरता: सबूत किसने मिटाये?
सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने गुरुवार को सभी हड़ताली डॉक्टरों से अपील की कि वे काम पर जल्द लौटें क्योंकि उनकी गैरमौजूदगी के कारण वो लोग परेशान हैं, जिन्हें स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं की सख्त ज़रूरत है. मुख्य न्यायाधीस डी. वाई. चंद्रचूड़ की अध्यक्षता वाली खंडपीठ ने डॉक्टरों को आश्वासन दिया कि ड्यूटी पर लौटे के बाद अदालत इस बात को सुनिश्चित करेगी कि उनके खिलाफ कोई दंडात्मक कार्रवाई न की जाय. भारत में इस समय लाखों गरीब मरीज़ सरकारी अस्पतालों में ओपीडी सेवाएं ठप रहने और सर्जरी न होने से परेशान हैं. शुक्रवार को सुप्रीम कोर्ट में रेजीडेंट डॉक्टरों के वकील ने मांग की की नैशनल टास्क फोर्स में रेजीडेंट डॉक्टरों को प्रतिनिधित्व दिया जाय, लेकिन मुख्य न्यायाधीश ने कहा कि ऐसा करने से ये टास्क फोर्स ठीक से काम नहीं कर पाएगा. बहरहाल उन्होने आश्वासन दिया कि टास्क फोर्स डॉक्टरों की मांगों को अवश्य सुनेगा. मुख्य न्यायाधीश ने कहा कि डॉक्टर्स जिस तरह से लगातार 36 या 48 घंटे तक काम कर रहे हैं, वह वाकई आमानवीय है,और टास्क फोर्स उनके काम करने के घंटों को भी नियमित करेगा. मेरी राय में डॉक्टरों को अब सुप्रीम कोर्ट की अपील मान लेनी चाहिए और काम पर लौटना चाहिए. जहां तक कोलकाता में क्टर बेटी की रेप-हत्या के केस का सवाल है, सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने आज विस्तार से सभी पक्षों की बातें सुनी, और राज्य सरकार को जम कर फटकार लगाई. कोर्ट को विस्तार से बताया गया कि कैसे crime scene पर सारे सबूतों को इरादतन मिटाया गया ताकि दरिंदों को बचाया जा सके. जब भी रेप-हत्या जैसे वीभत्स केस में लोगों को लगता है कि सबूत मिटाने की कोशिश की गई, या अपराधियों को बचाने की कोशिश की गई, तो लोगों का गुस्सा बढ़ जाता है. कोलकाता में एक मासूम लड़की के साथ जो वहशियाना हरकत हुई, उसमें डॉक्टर्स के प्रोटेस्ट की यही वजह है. देश की आम जनता में आक्रोश का यही कारण है. अब ये बात और भी गंभीर हो गई है क्योंकि लोगों को लगता है कि इस केस में मुख्य आरोपी से लेकर बाकी लोग जांच में सहयोग नहीं कर रहे हैं, ठीक से सवालों के जवाब नहीं दे रहे हैं. कोलकाता पुलिस भी मेडिकल कालेज के पूर्व प्रिन्सिपल डॉक्टर संदीप घोष के खिलाफ कई केस फाइल करके नई चाल चल रही है. आशंका है कि कोलकाता पुलिस डॉक्टर संदीप घोष को गिरफ्तार करके अपनी हिरासत में लेना चाहती है, वरना जिन डॉक्टर घोष को पहले बचाने की कोशिश की गई, अब वो पुलिस के घेरे में क्यों आए? इसी तरह जिस भीड़ ने हॉस्पिटल में तोड़फोड़ की, सबूत मिटाने की कोशिश की, उसके बारे में भी अभी तक कुछ खास पता नहीं चला है कि वे किसके लोग थे? उन्हें किसने भेजा था? ये सवाल भी बना हुआ है. इस सारे मामले में एक और दुख की बात ये है कि डॉक्टर्स की हड़ताल के कारण देश भर में लाखों मरीज परेशान हैं, खास तौर पर सरकारी अस्पतालों में, जहां गरीब मरीज़ इलाज कराने जाते हैं. मुझे लगता है डॉक्टर्स को सुप्रीम कोर्ट की अपील पर ध्यान देना चाहिए, काम पर लौटना चाहिए, उन्हें CBI की जांच पर भरोसा करना चाहिए और सुप्रीम कोर्ट से इंसाफ मिलेगा, इस पर यकीन करना चाहिए.
अस्पतालों में डॉक्टर बेहाल : ना आराम की जगह, ना लड़कियों की सुरक्षा
जिस तरह से कोलकाता की मासूम बेटी के साथ बर्बरता से पूरा देश हिल गया, उसी दर्द की गूंज सुप्रीम कोर्ट में भी सुनाई दी. सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने भी ममता सरकार से वही सवाल पूछे जो आम जनता के मन में हैं. कोर्ट ने भी जघन्य अपराध को लेकर वही संवेदना दिखाई जो लोगों में हैं. कोर्ट की टिप्पणियों में पुलिस की लापरवाही को लेकर वही गुस्सा झलका, जो प्रोटेस्ट करने वाले डॉक्टर्स की जुबान पर हैं. सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने जो निर्देश दिए, उससे लोगों का भरोसा बढ़ेगा. लोगों को लगेगा कि जब सुप्रीम कोर्ट इस मामले को सुन रहा है, CBI से रिपोर्ट मांग रहा है, तो फिर इंसाफ तो मिलेगा. अब ममता बनर्जी के ऊपर भी दबाव है. वो दबाव अब दिखाई भी दे रहा है. कोलकाता पुलिस अब तक जिस संदीप घोष का नाम तक लेने में कतरा रही थी, अब पुलिस उसी पूर्व प्रिंसिपल के खिलाफ एक के बाद एक केस दर्ज कर रही है. ये सुप्रीम कोर्ट के सख्त रूख के असर का पहला सबूत है. और अब CBI जिस तेजी से इस घिनौने और भयानक अपराध में शामिल लोगों की एक-एक कड़ी जोड़ रही है, उससे लगता है कि हकीकत जल्दी ही सामने आएगी. हालांकि CBI के पास अब सिर्फ 36 घंटे का वक्त है. सुप्रीम कोर्ट में स्टेटस रिपोर्ट सौंपनी है. इतने कम वक्त में CBI पूरी हकीकत पता लगा लेगी, ये उम्मीद तो नहीं करनी चाहिए लेकिन 22 अगस्त को तृणमूल कांग्रेस के उन नेताओं को जवाब जरूर मिल जाएगा जो बार बार पूछ रहे थे कि अब CBI बताए कि उसने पांच दिन की जांच में क्या किया? क्या पता लगाया? कोलकाता पुलिस की जांच में कौन सी खामियां देखीं? हालांकि सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने साफ-साफ कहा कि बंगाल के केस को एक अलग केस की तरह नहीं देखना चाहिए. इस केस से ये उजागर हो गया कि हमारे डॉक्टर्स किन परिस्थितियों में काम कर रहे हैं, हमारी व्यवस्था में कितनी गड़बडियां हैं? इसलिए इस केस से सबक लेकर उन सारी गड़बडियों को दूर करने की कोशिश होनी चाहिए. ये बात सही है कि अगर डॉक्टर्स आवाज न उठाते, सड़कों पर प्रोटेस्ट न करते, तो कोर्ट और सरकार का ध्यान कभी इस बात पर नहीं जाता कि डॉक्टर्स किस तरह के हालात में काम करते हैं. ज्यादातर अस्पतालों में proper rest rooms नहीं हैं. कहीं bed नहीं हैं तो कहीं पर्दे नहीं हैं. लड़कियों को भी ऐसे ही हालात में रहना और सोना पड़ता है. पुरुष और महिला डॉक्टर्स के अलग अलग टॉयलेट नहीं हैं. कहीं गंदगी है तो कहीं भयानक गर्मी होती है. सुरक्षा की दष्टि से देखें तो CCTV कैमरे नहीं हैं. हालांकि सारे अस्पताल ऐसे नहीं हैं पर ज्यादातर सरकारी अस्पतालों का यही हाल है. उम्मीद तो है कि सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने जो टास्क फोर्स बनाई है वो इन सब बातों पर ध्यान देगी और डॉक्टर्स की सुविधा और सुरक्षा को लेकर कुछ व्यावहारिक सुझाव देगी. इस पूरे प्रोटेस्ट का एक और पहलू है. वो है इलाज के अभाव में तड़पते मरीज़. डॉक्टर्स की हड़ताल की वजह से अस्पतालों में बुरा हाल है. पिछले दो दिन में मेरी जानकारी में ऐसे कई केस आए हैं, जहां मरीज को ICU में एडमिट करने की जरूरत है लेकिन ICU में डॉक्टर्स नहीं हैं, इसीलिए उन्हें भर्ती नहीं किया जा रहा. emergency face करने वाले मरीजों की तो तादाद बहुत ज्यादा है. इसीलिए डॉक्टर्स को सुप्रीम कोर्ट की अपील मान लेनी चाहिए, अपना प्रोटेस्ट खत्म करके अस्पतालों में लौटना चाहिए. देश भर में लाखों मरीज इलाज के अभाव में तड़प रहे हैं. उनका ध्यान रखना, उनका इलाज करना हमारे डॉक्टरों की जिम्मेदारी भी है और फर्ज़ भी.
Inhuman Working Conditions For Doctors: Challenge for the Task Force
The pain of medical fraternity over the gruesome rape-murder of a medic in a Kolkata hospital resonated in Supreme Court on Tuesday. The apex court bench posed the same questions to Mamata Banerjee’s government that are still being asked by the public at large. The apex court also expressed its deepest sympathy for the victim. The court’s observations over laxity on part of Kolkata Police clearly reflected the anger that has been visible among the agitating doctors. I hope the court’s directions for deployment of CISF at the hospital and setting up a National Task Force to formulate security protocol for health workers will increase the trust of the people in the system. People now expect that the victim’s family would now get justice. The pressure is now on Mamata Banerjee and it is showing. The same Kolkata Police which had been avoiding naming the ex-principal Dr Sandip Ghosh till now, is now filing case after case against him. The stern attitude of the Supreme Court is now showing results. Meanwhile, CBI is speedily trying to fill up the missing links about people supposed to be involved in this gruesome crime and one should expect the real picture to emerge soon. CBI will have to file its status report before Supreme Court on Thursday, but one must not expect the whole truth to emerge quickly. Supreme Court has clearly said that the Kolkata crime should not be seen as an isolated case, because the crime revealed the real working conditions of doctors. It is a systemic flaw that needs to be corrected. It is true that had the doctors not raised their voice of protests in the streets across India, the attention of the court and government would not have gone to their abysmal and inhuman working conditions. There are no proper rest rooms for doctors and nurses in most of the hospitals. They do not have proper beds, nor do their rest rooms have curtains. Female doctors and healthcare workers have to work and sleep in pathetic condition. Male and female doctors do not have separate toilets. At some places, the toilets are in a nauseating condition. Many hospitals do not have cctv cameras for rest rooms. Though similar working conditions do not prevail in all the hospitals, but the situation is abysmal in most of the government hospitals. I hope the National Task Force, consisting of top doctors of India, will look into such matters too, apart from suggesting practical methods for their security. One more aspect of the ongoing doctors’ protest is the woes being faced by patients requiring urgent surgeries. Work in most of the government hospitals has been badly affected due to the strike. Personally, I know of several cases in the last two days in which patients, in critical cases, needed to be sent to ICUs, but there are no doctors manning those ICUs. Thousands of surgeries have been postponed. I hope the agitating doctors will now listen to the apex court’s appeal and return to work soon. There are several lakhs patients awaiting urgent medical intervention. It is the duty and responsibility of the doctors to take care of their treatment, on a war footing.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने आज सभी अस्पतालों में डॉक्टरों, नर्सों जैसे तमाम स्वास्थ्य कर्मियों की सुरक्षा के नियम तैयार करने के लिए 10 सदस्यीय राष्ट्रीय टास्क फोर्स का गठन किया. इसमे देश के कई top doctors और कैबिनेट और गृह सचिव भी होंगे. ये टास्क फोर्स तीन हफ्ते के अंदर अन्तरिम रिपोर्ट और दो महीने के अंदर अंतिम रिपोर्ट देगा. सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कहा कि देश कोलकाता के अस्पताल में हुई जघन्य रेप-हत्या जैसी एक और वीभत्स घटना का इंतज़ार नहीं कर सकता, और महिला डॉक्टरों की सुरक्षा राष्ट्रहित का सवाल है. कोर्ट ने पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार की जमकर खिंचाई की, और वही सवाल किये जो तमाम डॉक्टरों और आम जनता के मन में है. कोलकाता की बेकसूर, होनहार, ट्रेनी डॉक्टर की पोस्टमॉर्टम रिपोर्ट देख कर रौंगटे खड़े हो गये.कोई इतना बर्बर,इतना क्रूर,इतना पत्थर दिल कैसे हो सकता है?कोई एक मासूम पर इतना ज़ुल्म कैसे कर सकता है ? उस बच्ची ने कितना दर्द सहा होगा ये सोच कर दिल दहल जाता है. वो आखिरी सांस तक लड़ी. अब कुछ लोग पूछ रहे हैं कि इस केस पर लोगों में इतना गुस्सा क्यों है? डॉक्टर सड़कों पर क्यों उतरे हैं ? असल में डॉक्टर और पब्लिक को लगता है पहले इस केस को ढंकने छुपाने की कोशिश हुई,फिर मेडिकल कॉलेज के प्रिंसिपल को बचाने की कोशिश की गई और फिर सबूत मिटाने की कोशिश की गई.ऐसी एक एक हरकत ने शक पैदा किया. क्या ये किसी बड़ी साजिश का हिस्सा है? क्या ये किसी बड़े आदमी को बचाने की कोशिश है? सबके मन में सवाल हैं:वो कौन था जिसने डॉक्टर बेटी के मां-बाप से कहा कि उसने आत्महत्य़ा की ? वो कौन था जिसने दरिंदगी की शिकार बेटी के मां बाप को चार घंटे तक उसका चेहरा देखने नहीं दिया? क्या उन चार घंटों मे सबूत मिटाए गए? डॉक्टर संदीप घोष को बचाने की कोशिश किसकी शह पर हुई? वो भीड़ जो अचानक आधी रात को हॉस्पिटल में बचे हुए सबूत मिटाने आई थी उसे किसने भेजा था? लोगों के मन में जो शक हैं उसमें सही गलत नहीं ढूँढना चाहिए. ना तो किसी को प्रोटेस्ट करने से रोकना चाहिए, ना सवाल उठाने से.केंद्र सरकार और राज्य सरकार को टकराने की बजाय,एक दूसरे पर आरोप लगाने की बजाय लोगों को विश्वास दिलाना चाहिए अब फिर किसी बेटी के साथ ऐसा ना हो वाकई में इसकी चिंता की जा रही है.
Kolkata rape-murder : Supreme Court order is welcome
The Supreme Court order constituting a 10-member national task force for formulation of protocol for safety of health care workers, in the wake of the horrific Kolkata medic rape-murder incident, has been welcomed by the medical fraternity. The task force includes top doctors of India along with the Union cabinet and home secretaries. The Supreme Court bench said, “the nation cannot wait for another rape for things to change on the ground…. Protecting women doctors is a matter of national interest and principle of equality does not demand anything less.” Unless the CBI probe is taken to a logical conclusion, several questions and doubts will remain unanswered. The impression has gained ground in the last 11 days that most of the evidence relating to the gruesome rape-murder in R G Kar Hospital have been removed. Reading the autopsy report of the innocent and meritorious trainee doctor can unnerve anybody. How can criminals become so cruel, barbaric and stone-hearted? How can an innocent woman be subjected to such gruesome atrocities? The heart cries out thinking how much torment she must have faced at the hands of the rapists and killers. There are some people who are questioning why there is so much anger among the people, and why are the doctors out on the streets? It is because doctors and the public feel that this incident was sought to be covered up and attempts were made to shield the medical college principal by removing vital evidence. Each of such acts raised doubts. Whether this was part of a big conspiracy? Was it an attempt to shield some big fish? Everybody is asking: Who was the person who told the victim’s parents over phone that their daughter has committed suicide? Who did not allow the unfortunate parents to see the face of their daughter for four hours? Were vital evidence removed during those four hours? At whose orders, efforts were made to shield Dr Sandip Ghosh, the medical college principal? Who sent the unruly mob of lumpen elements to the hospital at midnight to destroy remaining evidence? One should not question the motives of people raising these doubts, nor should any attempt be made to stop any protest, or for raising questions. Instead of starting a confrontation between the Centre and state government, and shifting blame on each other, the common people must get an assurance that efforts are being made to stop recurrence of such horrific acts in future.
बेटियाँ डरी सहमी , बलात्कारी आज़ाद और बेख़ौफ़
ये समझना मुश्किल है कि मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने कोलकाता में प्रोटेस्ट मार्च किसके खिलाफ किया? हत्यारों को फांसी देने की मांग किससे की? वह मुख्यमंत्री हैं, सरकार उनकी है. कोर्ट ने पहले कहा था कि उनकी पुलिस ने सबूत मिटाने की कोशिश की. हाईकोर्ट ने कहा कि 14 अगस्त की रात को हॉस्पिटल में जो हुआ वो राज्य प्रशासन की विफलता थी. चीफ जस्टिस ने पूछा कि पुलिस उस वक्त क्या कर रही थी, लेकिन कोलकाता के पुलिस कमिश्नर अपनी पुलिस का जितना बचाव करते हैं उतना वो अपना और ममता बनर्जी का नुकसान करते हैं. कमिश्नर ने उस निर्दोष बेटी के माता-पिता के बारे में नहीं सोचा जिन्हें बर्बरता की शिकार अपने बेटी का चेहरा देखने के लिए तीन घंटे तक खड़ा रखा. अस्पताल में तोड़फोड़ पर पुलिस कमिश्नर का जस्टिफिकेशन ये है कि पुलिस ने भीड़ को रोकने की कोशिश की और इस दौरान 15 पुलिसवाले घायल भी हुए. जब पुलिसवाले खुद अपनी सुरक्षा नहीं कर पा रहे हैं तो वो डॉक्टरों को सुरक्षा का भरोसा कैसे दिलाएंगे? इसीलिए सवाल ममता बनर्जी से पूछे जा रहे हैं. जिन पुलिसवालों ने लापरवाही की, उनके खिलाफ कमिश्नर ने एक्शन क्यों नहीं लिया ? और जिस कमिश्नर ने अपनी पुलिस को क्लीन चिट देने की कोशिश की, उन्हें तुरंत बर्खास्त क्यों नहीं किया गया? ममता बनर्जी कह रही हैं कि राम और वाम वाले इस पर राजनीति कर रहे हैं. मैं मानता हूं कि ऐसे संवेदनशील मामले पर राजनीति नहीं होनी चाहिए. ममता दीदी को याद दिलाना पड़ेगा कि जब उत्तर प्रदेश के हाथरस में दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण घटना हुई थी तो उन्होंने अपनी पार्टी का प्रतिनिधिमंडल भेजा था. असल में इतना बड़ा देश है, इतनी सारी पार्टियों की सरकारें हैं, जिसके राज्य में कोई दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण घटना होती है वो दूसरे वालों की शासन में हुए घटनाओं की याद दिलाने लगता है. अपनी सरकारों के बारे में कोई नहीं बोलता. असल में एक मानसिकता है, लड़के हैं गलती हो जाती है. दूसरी मानसिकता है जो अपराध करने वाले का मजहब ढूंढती है. तीसरी मानसिकता है कि ये तो होता रहता है. सच तो ये है कि निर्भया की जघन्य हत्या से हमने कुछ नहीं सीखा. न सोच बदली न सिस्टम बदला. क्या कोलकाता की बेटी के साथ जो जुल्म हुआ, उसके साथ जो बर्बरता हुई, वो राजनीतिक दलों को जगाएगी? क्या वो एक दूसरे की तरफ ऊंगली उठाने के बजाए अपना दिमाग इसमें लगाएंगे कि बलात्कारियों और हत्यारों के दिल में खौफ कैसे पैदा हो? आज तो हालत ये है कि अपराधी बेखौफ हैं और हमारी बेटियां डर से सहमी हुई हैं. इससे पहले की एक और ऐसी दरिंदगी हो, सबको नींद से जागना होगा.
Daughters live in fear : Rapists & murderers are free and fearless
It is difficult to gauge against whom West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took out a protest march in Kolkata on Friday. Her party leaders and workers were demanding death punishment for the culprits in the doctor rape-murder case. Mamata Banerjee is after all the Chief Minister of the state, and the state administration works at her behest. On Friday, Calcutta High Court described the vandalizm at R G Kar Hospital as “absolute failure of state administration”. The Chief Justice asked what police was doing when lumpen elements vandalized the hospital. People are now asking Mamata Banerjee why she was not taking action against the Kolkata Police chief for failing to protect the doctors and the costly hospital equipment. Mamata Banerjee is blaming the “Left-BJP nexus” for the current turmoil. I agree, there must be no politics on this issue. But one should remind Mamata that it was her own party trinamool Congress which sent a delegation to Hathras, UP, when a Dalit girl was raped. India is a big country where different parties rule in the states. Whenever such heinous crimes take place, politicians do not speak about what happened in their state, they point fingers at states run by other parties. This is indicative of a mindset, where a politician says after a rape incident that “boys do commit mistakes”. The second mindset is of trying to trace the religion of the culprits. The third mindset is reflective of the ‘chalta hai’ attitude. The chilling reality is that we have not learnt anything from the Nirbhaya gangrape-murder case that took place in Delhi in 2012. Neither the mindset has changed, nor has the system. Will the brutality perpetrated on Kolkata’s daughter at least wake up the political parties? Will they focus more on evolving concrere methods for striking terror in the minds of rapists and killers, instead of pointing fingers at one another? Presently, the rapists and killers are fearless and moving around freely, while our daughters shiver in fear. Let us wake up from our slumber before another brutal rape-murder takes place.
कोलकाता के अस्पताल में तांडव : ये वीडियो गेम नहीं है, एक डरावनी असलियत है
स्वतंत्रता दिवस पर पश्चिम बंगाल से शर्मसार करने वाली तस्वीरें आईं. रेजीडेंट डॉक्टर की रेप औऱ हत्या की बर्बर घटना के खिलाफ प्रदर्शन करने वाले डॉक्टर्स पर हमला हुआ. आर जी कर अस्पताल में तोड़फोड़ की गई. अस्पताल में मौजूद नर्से और लेडी डॉक्टर्स को रेप की धमकी दी गई. अस्पताल के इमरजेंसी वार्ड को पूरी तरह तहस-नहस कर दिया गया. हमला करने वाली भीड़ ने अस्पताल के उस सेमीनार हॉल में भी घुसने की कोशिश की, जहां रेजीडेंट डॉक्टर की लाश मिली थी. सैकड़ों की भीड़ ने रात के अंधेरे में हमला किया, एक घंटे से ज्यादा वक्त तक उत्पात मचाया और कोलकाता पुलिस मौके से भाग गई. पूरी घटना के वीडियो मौजूद हैं. दंगाइयों की सारी हरकतें कैमरे में क़ैद हैं. लेकिन अब तक किसी को ये नहीं मालूम कि हमला करने वाले कौन थे? उनका मक़सद क्या था? वो क्या चाहते थे? उन्हें किसने भेजा था? हालांकि अब कोलकाता पुलिस इस मामले की जांच कर रही है, 24 लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया गया है लेकिन कोलकाता के पुलिस कमिश्नर ने कह दिया कि जो हुआ उसके लिए मीडिया जिम्मेदार है क्योंकि मीडिया ने डॉक्टर की हत्या के केस में कोलकाता पुलिस पर इल्जाम लगाए, मामले को इस तरह पेश किया जिससे लोगों में गुस्सा पैदा हुआ. यानी कोलकाता के पुलिस कमिश्नर कह रहे हैं कि दंगा करने वाले आम लोग थे, लेकिन मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने कहा कि ये राम और वाम का काम है. राम यानि बीजेपी और वाम यानी लेफ्ट पार्टी, जो बंगाल में अशांति और अस्थिरता पैदा करना चाहते हैं. बीजेपी के नेता इसे ममता की पार्टी की करतूत बता रहे हैं. कुल मिलाकर आरोप प्रत्यारोप का दौर चल रहा है लेकिन सवाल बहुत सारे हैं.शुक्रवार कलकत्ता हाई कोर्ट ने राज्य सरकार को फटकार लगाते हुए कहा कि ये साफ तौर पर राज्य प्रशासन की मशीनरी की असफलता है. मुख्य न्यायाधीश टी. एस. शिवज्ञानम ने कहा कि ये कैसे हो सकता है कि सात हजार लोगों की भीड़ अस्पताल के बाहर इकट्ठई है, और पुलिस के गुप्तचरों की इसकी खबर न हो. असल में कोलकाता में 14 अगस्त की रात डॉक्टर, नर्स और आम लोगों ने RECLAIM THE NIGHT के नाम से प्रोटेस्ट मार्च निकालने का एलान किया था. रात क़रीब 12 बजे जुलूस को R G मेडिकल कॉलेज से शुरू होकर श्याम बाज़ार तक जाना था. इस प्रोटेस्ट मार्च का मक़सद रात के वक्त को महिलाओं के लिए सुरक्षित बनाने की मांग करना था. प्रोटेस्ट मार्च शुरू होता, उससे पहले ही R G कर मेडिकल कॉलेज के बाहर बड़ी भीड़ जमा हो गई. लोग नारे लगाने लगे. इस भीड़ ने पहले तो प्रोटेस्टर्स का रास्ता रोक लिया, उनको आगे नहीं बढ़ने दिया. इसके बाद उसी भीड़ में से सैकड़ों लोग कॉलेज कैंपस में घुस गए, बैरीकेड तोड़कर दंगा करने वालों की भीड़ सीधे उस जगह पहुंची जहां प्रोटेस्ट कर रहे डॉक्टर्स का मंच था. दंगाईंयों ने वहां जमकर तोड़-फोड़ की. वहां जो डॉक्टर इकट्ठे थे उन्हें इन ग़ुंडों के डर से जान बचाकर भागना पड़ा. दंगाई अस्पताल की मुख्य इमारत की तरफ़ बढ़े. उन्होंने ग्राउंड फ्लोर पर बने इमरजेंसी वार्ड में लोगों से मार पीट शुरू कर दी. अस्पताल में दो इमरजेंसी वार्ड हैं, पुरूषों और महिलाओं के लिए. अस्पताल पर हमला करने वालों ने दोनों इमरजेंसी वार्ड्स को निशाना बनाया. वहां लगे मेडिकल equipment को तोड़ डाला, MRI मशीन को बर्बाद कर दिया, कंप्यूटर को तहस-नहस कर दिया, मेज, कुर्सी, यहां तक की मरीजों की फाइलों को भी नहीं छोड़ा. सैकड़ों लोगों की इस भीड़ को देखकर हॉस्पिटल स्टाफ़ सदमे में था. मौके पर करीब एक दर्जन पुलिस वाले थे लेकिन उन्होंने भीड़ को रोकने की कोई कोशिश नहीं की. पुलिस वाले भीड़ के पीछे पीछे दौड़ते दिखाई दिए. इमरजेंसी के बाद ये हमलावर मेडिसिन डिपार्टमेंट में घुस गए. वहां रखी दवाओं को उठाकर फेंक दिया. अस्पताल में हर जगह CCTV कैमरे लगे हैं. दंगाइयों को जो भी CCTV कैमरा दिखा, उन्होंने उसे तोड़ डाला. इसके बाद हमलावर फ़र्स्ट फ्लोर पर गंभीर रूप से बीमार मरीज़ों के इलाज के लिए बने क्रिटिकल केयर यूनिट में गए. दंगाइयों ने CCU में घुसकर तोड़-फोड़ की. कुछ लोग डॉक्टर्स के चेंजिंग रूम में घुस गए, वहां रखे सामान उठाकर फेंक दिए. कर्मचारियों ने उपद्रवियों से अपनी जान बचाने के लिए हॉस्पिटल में जहां तहां छुपकर अपनी जान बचाई. अस्पताल में रात को जो कुछ हुआ, वो बहुत संगठित तरीक़े से हुआ. एक घंटे बाद जब ज्यादातर दंगाई भाग गए, तब पुलिस फोर्स पहुंची. आंसू गैस के गोले छोड़े. लेकिन पुलिस का ये एक्शन सांप भाग जाने के बाद लाठी पीटने जैसा था. दंगाई तो अपना काम करके भाग चुके थे. डॉक्टरों और नर्सों ने रात के हमले का जो ब्यौरा दिया, वो दिल दहलाने वाल है. सौ से ज़्यादा लोगों की भीड़ ने नर्सेज़ हॉस्टल पर हमला बोल दिया. नर्सों के साथ मारपीट की और ये धमकी दी कि आज तो सिर्फ तोड़-फोड़ कर जा रहे हैं, कल आएंगे और नर्सों की रेप करेंगे. कोलकाता पुलिस के कमिश्नर विनीत गोयल ने कहा कि जिस तरह से मीडिया में पुलिस को बदनाम करने की मुहिम चलाई जा रही है. पुलिस कमिश्नर मीडिया पर आरोप लगा रहे हैं, पर वो ये भूल गए कि कोलकाता पुलिस पर सवाल हाईकोर्ट ने खड़े किए हैं. कोलकाता पुलिस की क्षमता और नीयत पर शक होने की वजह से केस CBI को दिया गया. मीडिया ने तो सिर्फ इसे रिपोर्ट किया. कल रात की घटना के बारे में कमिश्नर साहब कह रहे हैं कि डॉक्टर्स को बचाने में पुलिस फोर्स ने जान लगा दी लेकिन जिन डॉक्टरों ने कल रात भीड़ के तांडव को देखा, उन्होंने कहा कि पुलिस तो कहीं थी ही नहीं. डॉक्टर्स ने इधर उधऱ छुपकर अपनी जान बचाई. मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने कांग्रेस, सीपीएम और बीजेपी के आरोपों को राजनीति से प्रेरित बताया. ममता ने कहा कि “अस्पताल में जो हमला हुआ, वो वाम और राम का काम है, जो उनकी सरकार को बदनाम करने की साजिश रच रहे हैं. ममता ने कहा कि जो घटना घटी उसका वीडियो देखिए, फ्लैग दिखाई देगा और समझ में आ जाएगा. आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस का इस्तेमाल करके उल्टा पुल्टा वीडियो बना रहे हैं, झूठ को सच बताकर दिखाना चाहते हैं. इन पर विश्वास ना करें. सोशल मीडिया पर ज्यादातर फेक वीडियो चल रहा है.” सोचिए उन माता-पिता पर क्या बीत रही होगी, जिनकी इकलौती होनहार बेटी को हैवानों ने मार डाला, उनकी बेटी की मौत सियासत का मुद्दा बन गई. और जो डॉक्टर बेटी को न्याय दिलाने के लिए लड़ रहे हैं, उन्हें डराने के लिए, सबूतों को मिटाने के लिए हमले हो रहे हैं. मैं हैरान हूं जिस केस पर पूरे देश की निगाहें हैं, वहां अस्पताल में भीड़ घुसाकर सबूत नष्ट करने की कोशिश की गई. ये चौंकाने वाली है कि जिस केस की जांच में सबूत जुटाने में दरिंदों को सजा दिलाने में सबको जान लगा देनी चाहिए थी, वहां इस तरह की हरकत हुई. ये घटना कई नए सवाल खड़े करती है. पहले तो बेकसूर लड़की के साथ वहशियाना हरकत हुई, फिर मौका-ए-वारदात में सबूतों को तहस नहस करने की कोशिश की गई. इससे कोलकाता की पुलिस का मुंह काला हुआ है. क्या ये किसी बड़े आदमी को बचाने की कोशिश है? ये रहस्य बना हुआ है. वीभत्स रेप हुआ, निर्दयता से हत्या हुई, इसमें कई लोग शामिल थे. ये अब तथ्य है, सब जानते हैं. पर बहुत से सवालों के जवाब मिलना बाकी है. मैं सिलसिलेवार तरीके से कुछ बात आपके सामने रखना चाहता हूं. पोस्टमॉर्टम रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक डॉक्टर बेटी के साथ बर्बरता रात 3 बजे से सुबह 5 बजे के बीच हुई पर बेटी के मां-बाप को काफी देर बाद सूचित किया गया. परिवार से ये क्यों कहा गया कि आपकी बेटी ने सुसाइड किया है? जब बदहवास मां-बाप अस्पताल पहुंचे, तो कई घंटे तक उन्हें बेटी की लाश नहीं देखने दी गई. क्या शुरू से ही लीपापोती करने की कोशिश थी ? ये भी सब जानते हैं कि कॉलेज के प्रिंसिपल से पूछताछ करने के बजाए उसे ट्रांसफर का सेफ पैसेज दिया गया. कोर्ट ने भी माना कि अगर जांच कोलकाता पुलिस के पास रहती तो सबूत मिटाए जाने का डर था. इतना सब कुछ होने के बाद जब केस CBI के पास आया तो भीड़ को अस्पताल में घुसने दिया गया. क्राइम सीन को तहस-नहस करने दिया गया. सवाल ये है कि भीड़ को मौका किसने दिया? पुलिस उस जगह से क्यों भागी? मैं फिर पूछता हूं, क्या ये किसी बड़े आदमी को बचाने की साजिश है? इस बात का कोई मतलब नहीं है कि कौन सा वीडियो फेक है, कहां AI का इस्तेमाल करके उल्टा पुल्टा वीडियो बना. ऐसी बातें मामले को और जटिल बनाती हैं. अस्पताल में तोड़फोड़ की गई, वो कोई वीडियो गेम नहीं है. वो असलियत है और इसके सच जब सामने आएंगे तो बहुत सारे राज़ खुलेंगे. इसीलिए ये सच सामने आने ही चाहिए.
Kolkata Hospital vandalism : It’s not a video game, a chilling reality
The Calcutta High Court on Friday lambasted the state government saying “there was absolute failure of state machinery” in preventing the midnight mob attack on R G Kar Medical College and Hospital. Chief Justice T. S. Sivagnanam remarked, “There was police force present. They couldn’t protect their own men? Sorry state of affairs. How will these doctors work fearlessly?.. You pass section 144 CrPC orders for any reason. When so much commotion is going on, you should have cordoned the area. Seven thousand people can’t come walking… It is hard to believe that police intelligence did not have information about the gathering of 7,000 people at the hospital”. The division bench of Chief Justice Sivagnanam and Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharya directed the police and hospital management to file two separate affidavits on the incident and posted hearing in this case on August 21. Meanwhile, Indian Medical Association has given a one-day strike call in all government and private hospitals on Saturday demanding security for doctors and action against the perpetrators of the rape-crime. On a day when the nation was celebrating Independence Day, visuals came about how lumpen elements armed with sticks and rods entered the hospital, smashed computers, critical machines and destroyed medicine stocks in the emergency wards. They threatened to rape nurses and lady doctors present and tried to enter the Seminar Hall, where the PG trainee doctor was raped and murdered on August 9. The mayhem continued for nearly two hours and police personnel vanished from the spot. The faces of the attackers can be clearly seen in videos, and yet police is unable to identify who the attackers were. Till now, 24 persons have been arrested on charges of vandalism. Till now, it is unclear why the attackers carried out mayhem inside the hospital and what was their motive. Let me first explain the context. Agitating doctors, nurses and people from civil society wanted to take out a midnight protest march called “Reclaim the night” from R G Kar Hospital to Shyam Bazar demanding safety of women. By that time, several thousand people gathered at the spot, most of them chanted slogans and tried to stop the protesters from marching. Meanwhile, several hundred lumpen elements forcibly entered the hospital and carried out mayhem. They vandalized the dais on which the doctors were staging dharna. The attackers then entered the emergency wards for male and females and destroyed MRI machine, several other costly medical equipment, computers, tables and chairs. They even destroyed the medical files of patients and attacked hospital staff, who were in a state of shock. There were nearly a dozen policemen on the spot but they did not try to stop these attackers. The lumpen elements then went to the first floor in the critical care unit and destroyed cctv cameras and other equipment. Doctors and nurses had to flee and hide in the face of these attackers. It seems that the attackers wanted to reach the fourth floor, where the lady doctor was raped and murdered in the Seminar Hall, but they were prevented from moving further. The entire mayhem appeared to be well orchestrated, because the lumpen elements knew details about the location of each floor. Their plan was to intimidate the protesting doctors, and then destroy all evidence about the rape-murder. After nearly 90 minutes of horror, the attackers vanished from the hospital. It was only then that the police sprung into action, fired teargas shells and resorted to lathi charge. Doctors and nurses later narrated the horrible ordeal they had to go through. They disclosed how lumpen elements attacked the nurses hostel and misbehaved with several nurses. While leaving, they issued threats saying they would return soon and rape them. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that “some outsider political elements are trying to create violence in Bengal, and both Ram (BJP) and Vaam (Left) have changed hands to create unrest…You look at the flags the protesters were carrying and you will know who created mayhem…Do not trust fake videos being circulated on social media.” By evening, Kolkata Police issued several photographs of rioters from the videos available and appealed to people to identify them. At present, my thoughts are with the parents of the PG trainee doctor who died a brutal death. Her death has become a political issue. Doctors are demanding justice for her, and yet, efforts are being made to destroy evidence. I am astonished, how some people dared to enter the hospital to destroy evidence in a case, that is being watched by the entire nation. It is shocking that while people expected police to gather evidence to nail the perpetrators, this mayhem occurred inside the hospital. This raises fresh questions. First, the brutal crime was perpetrated, then the scene of crime was tampered with. This has brought a bad name to Kolkata Police. Was it because there was any attempt to protect a big personality? This is still shrouded in mystery. The rape of the doctor was followed by brutal murder. Several people were involved in the ghastly crime. It is a fact that cannot be doubted. There are several questions left to be answered. One, the post-mortem report says, the brutal crime was committed between 3 am and 5 am, but why were the parents informed late? Why was the family told that the doctor had committed suicide? Why were the distraught parents not allowed to see the victim’s body? Was there a cover-up attempt from the very beginning? It is now an open fact that the college principal was given a safe passage through a transfer, instead of being interrogated. The high court itself observed that evidence in this case could have been tampered if Kolkata Police was allowed to continue with the probe. And when the High Court transferred the case to CBI, who allowed a huge crowd of lumpen elements to enter the hospital? Why was the crime scene tampered with? Why did policemen flee in the face of attackers? I am repeating my question: Was there a conspiracy to shield a top personality? There is no point alleging that such and such videos are fake, using Artificial Intelligence. Such allegations complicate matters more. The vandalism that took place in the hospital on August 14 night was not a video game. It was a chilling reality. And when the truth will come out, more secrets will tumble out. Truth must come out.
