Shivaji statue collapse : Modi’s public apology means a lot
The public apology tendered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the collapse of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s 35-feet tall statue in Sindhudurg is, in itself, a significant one, and one should respect it. Addressing a rally in Palghar, Modi said, “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is our ‘aaradhya dev’ (revered deity), and I bow my head and apologise to my deity”. This was the Prime Minister’s first remark after the statue, which was unveiled by him on Navy Day (December 4) last year, collapsed due to strong winds. Modi’s apology comes in the wake of opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray and Nana Patole planning to stage protest in Mumbai on Sunday, September 1. By tendering public apology, Modi has sought to effectively counter the opposition move. Shivaji is an emotional issue that touches the chords in every Maharashtrian’s heart. Already, the government has started taking action against the company which was awarded the contract to install the statue. The structural consultant Chetan Patil was arrested on Friday after an FIR was filed by police. It is now upto the court to give judgement. But more than a legal one, it has now become a political issue. Since Maharashtra assembly polls are due before the end of this year, opposition MVA leaders are trying to nail the ruling alliance on this emotive issue. The statue was built under the supervision of Indian Navy in collaboration with state public works department. Since there was no scope for politics over this incident, Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar and Nana Patole took this up because the statue was unveiled by the Prime Minister. By tendering his apology, in all humility, the Prime Minister has apologised not only to Shivaji Maharaj but also to all Maharashtrians. This, however, is not going to cut any ice with the opposition alliance which wants the issue to remain hot till the elections are over.
शिवाजी प्रतिमा : प्रधानमंत्री की माफी काफी है
प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने महाराष्ट्र जाकर शिवाजी महाराज के चरणों में सिर रखकर माफी मांगी. महाराष्ट्र की धरती पर खड़े होकर मोदी ने बिना लाग लपेट के कहा कि सिर्फ छत्रपति शिवाजी से ही नहीं, जिन लोगों को भी शिवाजी की प्रतिमा खंडित होने से कष्ट पहुंचा, वह उन सबके चरणों में सिर रखकर माफी मांगते हैं. मोदी ने कहा कि छत्रपति शिवाजी उनके लिए सिर्फ महाप्रतापी राजा, कुशल योद्धा और मातृभूमि के रक्षक ही नहीं, उनके लिए आराध्य देव हैं. चूंकि शिवाजी की मूर्ति का टूटना महाराष्ट्र में भावनात्मक मुद्दा है, विपक्षी महाविकास आघाड़ी के नेता आग में घी डालने का काम कर रहे हैं. रविवार 1 सितम्बर को शरद पवार, उद्धव ठाकरे और नाना पटोले मुंबई में शिवाजी महाराज की मूर्ति के पास प्रदर्शन करने की तैयारी कर रहे थे, लेकिन इससे पहले ही मोदी ने माफी मांग कर विपक्ष की रणनीति पर पानी फेर दिया. मोदी शुक्रवार को पालघर में एक रैली को संबोधित कर रहे थे, उन्होने कहा कि 2013 में जब उन्हें प्रधानमंत्री पद का उम्मीदवार बनाया गया था, उस वक्त वो सबसे पहले रायगढ़ गए थे और शिवाजी के किले में उनकी प्रतिमा के सामने बैठकर देश सेवा का व्रत लिया था. मोदी ने कहा कि शिवाजी उनके लिए आराध्यदेव हैं, इसलिए सिंधुदुर्ग में जिस तरह छत्रपति की मूर्ति खंडित हुई, उससे वह बेहद दुखी हैं और इसीलिए वह सबके सामने सिर झुकाकर शिवाजी महाराज के चरणों में सिर रखकर माफी मांगते हैं. प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि उन्हें शिवाजी प्रतिमा की घटना पर माफी मांगने में कोई संकोच नहीं है लेकिन इसी महाराष्ट्र के सपूत वीर सावरकर का रोज़ रोज़ अपमान किया गया, उन्हें गालियां दी गईं, लेकिन माफी मांगना तो दूर, उल्टे वीर सावरकर को गालियां देने वाले कोर्ट में लड़ने को तैयार हैं. मोदी ने कहा कि यही संस्कारों का फर्क है. वीर सावरकर का अपमान करने के मामले में राहुल गांधी के खिलाफ पुणे के कोर्ट में मुकदमा चल रहा है. राहुल गांधी अपने बयान पर माफी मांगकर मामला खत्म करने के बजाए मुकदमे का सामना कर रहे हैं. वीर सावरकर बाला साहब ठाकरे के भी आदर्श थे लेकिन सावरकर के अपमान पर उद्धव ठाकरे ने खामोशी साध ली, इसीलिए मोदी ने आज ये मुद्दा उठाया. राहुल गांधी भले ही न मानें, लेकिन महाराष्ट्र कांग्रेस के नेता भी जानते हैं कि वीर सावरकर के अपमान का मुद्दा महाराष्ट्र के लोगों की भावनाओं से जुड़ा है, चुनाव में इसका नुकसान हो सकता है. प्रधानमंत्री ने शिवाजी की मूर्ति को लेकर इस तरह से सार्वजनिक तौर पर माफी मांगी, ये बहुत बड़ी बात है. इसका सबको सम्मान करना चाहिए. वैसे इस मामले में कार्रवाई भी हो रही है. छत्रपति शिवाजी की मूर्ति लगाने का ठेका जिस कंपनी को मिला थे, उस कंपनी के खिलाफ पहले FIR दर्ज हो चुकी है. शुक्रवार को इस मामले में Structural consultant चेतन पाटिल को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया. अब सबूतों के आधार पर कोर्ट दोषियों को सजा देगा लेकिन ये मसला कानून से ज्यादा राजनीतिक बन चुका है. चूंकि महाराष्ट्र में चुनाव सिर पर हैं, छत्रपति शिवाजी महाराष्ट्र के लोगों के लिए बहुत ही भावनात्मक मुद्दा हैं, इसलिए महाविकास आघाड़ी के नेता इस मुद्दे पर बीजेपी को घेरने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं. हालांकि हकीकत ये है कि भारतीय नौसेना दिवस के मौके पर इस मूर्ति का अनावरण किया गया था, मूर्ति नौसेना की देखरेख में बनी थी, इसलिए इसमें राजनीति की गुंजाइश तो नहीं थी लेकिन चूंकि मूर्ति का अनावरण प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने किया था, इसलिए उद्धव ठाकरे, शरद पवार और नाना पटोले को मौका मिला. लेकिन मोदी ने जिस अंदाज़ में, पूरी विनम्रता के साथ सिर्फ छत्रपति शिवाजी से ही नहीं, महाराष्ट्र के लोगों से भी माफी मांगी है, उससे महाविकास आघाड़ी के नेताओं को बड़ा झटका लगा होगा. हालांकि वो इस मुद्दे को छोड़ेंगे नहीं, प्रोटेस्ट करेंगे, सीएम एकनाथ शिन्दे, देवेन्द्र फडणवीस के इस्तीफे की मांग करेंगे क्योंकि महा विकास आघाड़ी के नेता चाहते हैं कि किसी तरह छत्रपति शिवाजी के अपमान का मुद्दा चुनाव तक गर्म रहे.
धमकाने से मसला नहीं सुलझेगा, ममता डाक्टरों का विश्वास जीतें
ट्रेनी डॉक्टर के बर्बर रेप और निर्मम हत्या के केस में कोलकाता पुलिस का झूठ बेनकाब हुआ. आर. जी. कर मेडिकल कॉलेज के खिलाफ एक बड़ा सबूत सामने आया. मेडिकल कॉलेज और पुलिस की तरफ से दावा किया गया था कि डॉक्टर की मौत को आत्महत्या कभी नहीं बताया गया लेकिन इंडिया टीवी के पास उन फोन कॉल्स की रिकॉर्डिंग है..जो पुलिस और हॉस्पिटल के दावे को झूठा साबित कर देंगीं. CBI ने मेडिकल कॉलेज की mortuary के स्टॉफ से पूछताछ की है. अब तक की जांच में CBI को ये पता चला है कि 9 अगस्त की रात को संजय रॉय अपनी मोटरसाइकिल से हॉस्पिटल पहुंचा था. वो सीधे थर्ड फ्लोर पर सेमिनार हॉल में गया जहां मासूम डॉक्टर सो रही थीं. थर्ड प्लोर के गेट पर दो गार्ड मौजूद थे लेकिन उन्होंने संजय रॉय को रोकने की कोई कोशिश नहीं की. CBI अब तक दस लोगों का पॉलीग्रफिक टेस्ट कर चुकी है. इनमें वो दो सिक्युरिटी गार्ड भी शामिल हैं जो 9 अगस्त को सेमिनार हॉल के बाहर तैनात थे. फोन कॉल्स की रिकॉर्डिंग के मुताबिक, 9 अगस्त को सुबह करीब 11 बजे मेडिकल कॉलेज की सहायक मेडिकल सुपरिंटेडेंट की तरफ से ट्रेनी डॉक्टर के माता-पित को कॉल की गई थीं जिसमें डॉक्टर ने माता-पिता को सबसे पहले ये बताया कि उनकी बेटी की तबीयत खराब है, जल्दी हॉस्पिटल पहुंचिए. फिर दूसरी कॉल में बताया गया बेटी की तबीयत बहुत खराब है और तीसरी कॉल में कहा गया कि आपकी बेटी ने सुसाइड कर लिया है. इस कॉल में हॉस्पिटल की तरफ से ये भी सूचित किया गया कि पुलिस भी हॉस्पिटल में मौजूद है. इसके बाद ट्रेनी डॉक्टर के बदहवास माता पिता हॉस्पिटल पहुंचे तो उन्हें बेटी की लाश तीन घंटे तक नहीं दिखाई गई. इन तीन घंटों में क्या हुआ? कोलकाता पुलिस ने क्या किया? मेडिकल कॉलेज प्रशासन ने क्या किया? क्या सबूतों के साथ छेड़छाड़ की गई? हत्या के केस को सुसाइड का केस बनाने की कोशिश हुई? ऐसे बहुत सारे सवाल बार-बार पूछे जा रहे हैं. तृणमूल कांग्रेस के नेता कुणाल घोष ने कॉल रिकॉर्डिंग की प्रामाणिकता पर सवाल उठा दिए. कुणाल घोष ने कहा कि उन्हें नहीं पता कि ये ऑडियो असली है या फेक है, इस बात का पता लगाना CBI की ज़िम्मेदारी है… कुणाल घोष ने कहा कि 16 दिन हो गए हैं और CBI अब तक अपनी जांच आगे नहीं बढ़ा पाई है. उधर बीजेपी नेता दिलीफ घोष ने मांग की कि सीबीआई अस्स्टेंट सुपरिंटेंडेंट से पूछताछ करे. पीड़ित डॉक्टर के लिए इंसाफ़ मांग रहे हॉस्पिटल के डॉक्टर्स ने यही कहा कि इस ऑडियो से उनके आरोप सच साबित हुए हैं, वो तो शुरू से ही आरोप लगा रहे हैं कि हॉस्पिटल मैनेजमेंट ने असली आरोपियों को बचाने की कोशिश की. हॉस्पिटल के जूनियर डॉक्टर काम पर अभी लौटने को तैयार नहीं है. सुप्रीम कोर्ट और मुख्यमंत्री की अपील के बावजूद काम पर नहीं लौटे हैं. उनका कहना है कि पिछले 20 दिनों में हालात बिल्कुल नहीं बदले हैं, न तो ट्रेनी डॉक्टर के परिवार को इंसाफ़ मिला, न इस जघन्य हत्याकांड के सारे मुजरिम पकड़े गए और न ही डॉक्टर्स की सुरक्षा के लिए ठोस इंतज़ाम किए गए. डॉक्टर्स ने कहा कि जब तक उन्हें सुरक्षा का भरोसा नहीं होगा, 4 अगस्त को हॉस्पिटल पर हमला करने वाले गिरफ़्तार नहीं होंगे, तब तक वे काम पर नहीं लौटेंगे.
कोलकाता के डॉक्टर्स ममता बनर्जी से इतने नाराज क्यों हैं? वो काम पर लौटने के लिए तैयार क्यों नहीं हैं? इसे समझने की जरूरत है..डॉक्टर्स ये मानते हैं कि ममता बनर्जी ने पहले दिन प्रिंसिपल को बचाने की कोशिश की, पुलिस को प्रोटेक्शन देने की कोशिश की जबकि पुलिस और कॉलेज प्रशासन दोनों का रोल शक के दायरे में है. आज जो फोन कॉल्स के audio clips सामने आए. इससे इस बात की पुष्टि हुई कि शुरुआत में पुलिस और कॉलेज ने गुमराह किया. .ये बात भी सामने आना जरूरी है कि जब मुख्य आरोपी संजय रॉय 9 अगस्त को हॉस्पिटल आया, तीसरी मंज़िल पर गया तो गार्ड्स ने उसे रोकने की कोशिश क्यों नहीं की? डॉक्टर्स की दूसरी नाराजगी ममता बनर्जी के अंदाज़ को लेकर है. .कल डॉक्टर्स को ऐसा लगा कि दीदी ने उन्हें धमकी दी. गुरुवार को ममता की सफाई के बाद भी डॉक्टर्स तैयार नहीं हुए. मुझे लगता है कि जब मामला लोगों की जज़्बात से जुड़ा हो, लोगों की भावनाएं आहत हों, तो डराने-धमकाने से काम नहीं चलता. दीदी को डॉक्टर्स का विश्वास जीतने की जरूरत है.
Threats won’t work : Mamata will have to win the trust of doctors
The revelation made in three phone-conversation audio clips between an official of Kolkata’s R.G.Hospital and the parents of the junior doctor, who was brutally raped and murdered, exposes the lies peddled by the hospital authorities and Kolkata Police that the parents were never told it was a suicide. On Thursday, CBI sleuths questioned the staff of hospital mortuary. From evidence found till now, the main accused Sanjay Roy reached the hospital on the night of crime in a motorbike, parked it, and went straight to the seminar hall on third floor, where the victim was sleeping. Two security guards were present near the third floor gate, but they did not stop Sanjay Roy. CBI has so far conducted polygraph test on ten persons and is trying to find the missing pieces in the jigsaw puzzle. But the most important evidence is the audio recordings of the purported conversation between the hospital official and the parents. During the phone calls, the parents were first told by the assistant superintendent that their daughter was not well, and in the second call, the parents were told, her condition was critical. In the third call, the parents were told, she had committed suicide. The parents were told that police was present in the hospital. When the distraught parents reached the hospital, they were not allowed to go near the daughter’s body for nearly three hours. What happened during these crucial hours? How were the evidences at the crime scene tampered with? What was the role of Kolkata Police ? Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh questioned the authenticity of the audio clips. He challenged CBI to come out with the status of its probe. BJP leader Dilip Ghosh demanded, CBI must interrogate the assistant medical superintendent who made the phone calls. Meanwhile, protesting doctors continued with their cease work agitation, disregarding Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s appeal to return to work. The doctors said, the situation has not changed at all during the last 20 days. They demanded arrest of all those linked witht the murder and also the hoodlums who ransacked the hospital on August 14 night. hey have also demanded tight security measures for doctors at the hospital. The question is, why are the doctors angry with Mamata Banerjee and unwilling to return to work? One must try to understand the situation. The doctors believe that Mamata Banerjee tried to protect the medical college principal since Day One, and the roles of both the hospital and police are suspect. The audio clips that surfaced on Thursday lend credence to doubts that both the hospital management and police misled the victim’s family. Questions must also be answered about how the main accused Sanjay Roy went straight to the seminar hall on the third floor, and why he was not stopped by security guards who were present on that floor. The doctors are also angry over the tone and tenor of Mamata Banerjee’s remarks. On Wednesday, she gave an indirect threat to the protesting doctors, but the next day, she herself clarified that she had not threatened them. I think, on a sensitive issue relating to the emotions of people, intimidation and threats won’t work. Didi has to win the trust of the doctors.
Listen to the words of pain of our President
On one hand, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is appealing to all politicians not to play politics with the issue of gruesome rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata’s R G Kar Hospital, but on Wednesday, she herself named Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he should “not play with fire”. She said, “If you play with fire, Modi babu, the fire will not only engulf Bengal, but also spread to Delhi, Assam, Jharkhand and Odisha”. If this is not political jingoism, then what is? A responsible leader like Mamata Banerjee should not make such a remark at a time when her entire state is witnessing upheaval over the gruesome rape-murder incident. Mamata herself is the product of a mass movement. On Wednesday, she demanded that CBI should update what it has done with its probe and she praised Kolkata Police. This is her second mistake. The people of Bengal are angry with the role of Kolkata Police after the gruesome rape-murder incident. The manner in which Kolkata Police handled the case after the brutal murder, has caused widespread consternation among students. The crime scene was tampered with, unwanted persons were allowed to the crime scene and the poor parents of the victim were not allowed for several hours to see their daughter’s body. There was considerable delay in filing FIR, and on August 14 midnight, when a mob of lumpen elements forcibly entered the hospital with the intention of obliterating all evidence at the crime scene, Kolkata Police failed to stop the mob. The main accused, on the night of gruesome incident, moved around the city on a police motorbike throughout the night. All these facts have caused unhappiness among the people towards police. This resentment has channelized into anger against her government. While Mamata Banerjee used the issue for her political ends, BJP, too, took advantage of public anger. Thirdly, when President Droupadi Murmu mentioned about the gruesome crime committed against the daughter of Bengal and said “enough is enough”, politicians from Trinamool Congress questioned her intentions. This is not a good precedent. The President did not speak about any particular incident in any state. She raised her voice against atrocities committed on women throughout the country by saying she was “dismayed and horrified”. Like the President, every daughter and sister is horrified and dismayed. The President mentioned the day when school girls came to her to tie raakhi on Rakshabandhan. She mentioned that some of the girls asked her, with innocence, whether they would get the assurance from her that no gruesome incident like Nirbhaya’s rape and murder will ever take place. What the President said can make anybody sad. It indicates the level of fear that has spread among girls in our country and they are worried about their safety. This is a matter of shame for all of us. Sexual assaults against women and girls are still taking place in our society. The sooner it is stopped, the better.
कोलकाता रेप-हत्या : राष्ट्रपति मुर्मू की व्यथा को समझें
पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ये कह रही हैं कि ट्रेनी डॉक्टर की रेप-हत्या को लेकर राजनीति नहीं होनी चाहिए लेकिन खुद उन्होंने इस मामले पर घनघोर राजनीतिक बयानबाजी की. ये कहना कि बंगाल में आग लगेगी, तो दूसरे राज्यों में भी आग लगेगी, आग दिल्ली तक पहुंचेगी, ये राजनीति नहीं तो और क्या है? जब पूरे प्रदेश में आग लगी है तो एक जिम्मेदार नेता को इस तरह का बयान नहीं देना चाहिए. ममता बनर्जी खुद एक आंदोलन की प्रोडक्ट हैं. ममता ने CBI से हिसाब मांगा और कोलकाता पुलिस की तारीफ की, ये उनकी दूसरी गलती है. बंगाल के लोग कोलकाता पुलिस से बहुत नाराज हैं. कोलकाता पुलिस ने जिस तरह से आर.जी. कर हॉस्पिटल में बर्बर रेप और निर्मम हत्या के मामले में जो कार्रवाई की, वहीं से छात्रों में नाराजगी शुरु हुई. क्राइम सीन के साथ छेड़छाड़ की गई, unwanted लोगों को वहां घुसने दिया गया, मां-बाप को अपने बेटी की लाश को देखने से घंटों तक रोका गया, FIR में देरी हुई, जो भीड़ रात में अस्पताल में सबूत मिटाने के लिए घुसी थी, उसे रोकने में पुलिस नाकाम रही. मुख्य आरोपी रातभर पुलिस की बाइक पर घूमता रहा. इन सारी बातों ने लोगों को कोलकाता पुलिस के प्रति आक्रोशित किया है. उस पर भी पुलिस ने छात्रों की पिटाई की, टियर गैस चलाई, वॉटर कैनन का इस्तेमाल किया. इतना सब होने के बाद मुख्यमंत्री अगर पुलिसवालों की तारीफ करेंगी तो इसे लोग कैसे बर्दाश्त करेंगे? इसीलिए पुलिस के प्रति जो लोगों की नाराजगी है, वो सरकार के प्रति गुस्से में बदल गई. अगर ममता बनर्जी ने इन सारी बातों का राजनीतिक इस्तेमाल किया, तो बीजेपी ने भी लोगों के इस गुस्से का फायदा उठाया. तीसरी बड़ी बात ये है कि जब भारत की राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू ने बंगाल की बेटी के साथ हुए जुल्म का जिक्र किया तो उनकी नीयत पर भी तृणमूल कांग्रेस के लोगों ने सवाल उठाए. ये एक अच्छी परंपरा नहीं है. राष्ट्रपति ने किसी एक घटना के बारे में, किसी एक राज्य के बारे में कमेंट नहीं किया. उन्होंने तो पूरे देश में महिलाओं पर हो रहे जुल्म के खिलाफ आवाज उठाई. जैसे राष्ट्रपति निराश और भयभीत हैं, वैसे इस देश की हर बहन-बेटी के मन में डर है और निराशा का भाव है. राष्ट्रपति जी ने उस दिन का जिक्र किया जब स्कूलों की बच्चियां रक्षाबंधन के दिन उन्हें राखी बांधने आई थीं, तो इन बच्चियों ने बड़ी मासूमियत से पूछा था क्या उन्हें ये आश्वासन मिल सकता है कि भविष्य में कभी निर्भया जैसा हादसा नहीं होगा? राष्ट्रपति महोदया ने जो बात बताई, उसे सुनकर किसी का भी दिल दहल जाएगा. हमारे देश में छोटी-छोटी बच्चियों के मन में किस तरह का डर है, किस तरह का खौफ है, अपनी सुरक्षा को लेकर वो किस तरह से चिंतित हैं, ये हम सबके लिए शर्म की बात है. राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू ने आज इस बात का जिक्र किया है कि कैसे कई जगहों पर छोटी-छोटी मासूम बच्चियों के खिलाफ जुल्म होता है, बर्बरता होती है. ज़रूरत है, ऐसी घटनाएं बंद हो.

राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू ने कोलकाता में हुई डॉक्टर बेटी की रेप-हत्या की घटना पर पहली बार मुंह खोलते हुए कहा है कि वह “ हताश और संत्रस्त हैं. अब बहुत हो गया.” ये ऐसा समय है जब सभी दलों को शांति बनाए रखने की ज़रूरत है, लेकिन कोलकाता में आज मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने सीधे प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी का नाम लेते हुए धमकी दे दी कि अगर बंगाल में आग लगाई गई, तो दिल्ली, यूपी, बिहार, ओडिशा, नॉर्थ-ईस्ट सब जलेंगे. बंगाल में बीजेपी ने आज 12 घंटे बंद की कॉल दी थी, जिसके दौरान गोली चलने, बम फेंकने की घटनाएं हुई. लेकिन मंगलवार को कोलकाता में छात्रों के साथ जो हुआ, वो लोकतंत्र के लिए अच्छा नहीं है. मुझे याद है कि जब पश्चिम बंगाल में लेफ्ट फ्रंट की सरकार थी, तब ममता बनर्जी भी सड़क पर उतरकर इसी तरह सरकार का विरोध करती थीं, बंद की कॉल देती थीं, सचिवालय का घेराव करती थीं, प्रोटेस्ट मार्च निकालती थी. उस वक्त जब बंगाल की पुलिस सख्ती करती थी तो ममता लोकतन्त्र की दुहाई देती थीं. लेकिन दुख की बात ये है कि आज वही ममता बनर्जी सचिवालय में बैठकर छात्रों पर हो रहे जुल्म को देखती रहीं. ममता आज छात्रों का प्रदर्शन शुरू होने से पहले ही नबान्न भवन पहुंच गईं थीं और पुलिस को सख्त निर्देश था कि मुख्यमंत्री के कार्यालय तक एक भी प्रदर्शनकारी न पहुंच पाए. लेकिन पुलिस के डंडों की आवाज, पुलिस से पिट रहे छात्रों की आह, आंदोलन कर रहे प्रोटेस्टर्स की नारेबाजी, ये सब तो ममता के कानों तक पहुंची होगी. उन्होंने टीवी पर अपनी पुलिस का जुल्म तो देखा होगा. इसके बाद ममता को समझ में आ जाना चाहिए कि बंगाल के लोगों के दिल में क्या है, ट्रेनी डॉक्टर की जघन्य हत्या से कितनी नाराजगी है और बहन-बेटियों की सुरक्षा को लेकर कितनी चिंता है. अगर ममता इसके बाद भी लोगों की भावनाएं नहीं समझ पाईं तो उनकी मुश्किलें और बढ़ेंगी क्योंकि जनता पुलिस के डंडे से नहीं डरती. अगर छात्र सचिवालय का घेराव कर भी लेते, ममता तक अपनी बात पहुंचा देते तो कौन सा आसमान टूट पड़ता? जहां तक तृणमूल कांग्रेस के इस आरोप का सवाल है कि प्रदर्शनकारी बीजेपी के समर्थक थे, बीजेपी के इशारे पर नबान्न चलो की कॉल दी गई थी, तो छात्र समाज के कार्यकर्ताओं ने इस इल्जाम को गलत बताया है. हकीकत ये है कि बीजेपी को इस आंदोलन में घुसने का मौका तो कोलकाता पुलिस ने लाठीचार्ज करके दिया. जो प्रोटेस्ट छात्रों का था, वो राजनीतिक कैसे बन गया? कोलकाता में बीजेपी के नेता प्रोटेस्ट में क्यो कूदे? इसकी दो वजहें हैं, एक तो टीएमसी के कार्यकर्ता प्रोटेस्ट करने वाले छात्रों से टकराए, उन्हें रोकने की कोशिश की, इसकी राजनीतिक प्रतिक्रिया तो होनी ही थी. बीजेपी को मौका मिला. लेकिन इससे भी बड़ी बात ये है कि पुलिस ने जिस बर्बरता से छात्रों की पिटाई की, लाठी चलाई, आंसू गैस चलाई, वॉटर कैनन चलाए, उसके बाद विरोधी दल की किसी भी पार्टी के लिए प्रोटेस्ट करने के अलावा विकल्प भी क्या था? कोलकाता से आए कुछ जानकार लोग मुझे आज मिले थे. उन्होंने कहा कि कोलकाता में ममता बनर्जी के खिलाफ लोगों का ऐसा गुस्सा उन्होंने पहले कभी नहीं देखा. लोग ममता से बेहद नाराज हैं. नाराज़गी की सबसे बड़ी वजह लेडी डॉक्टर के साथ बलात्कार और हत्या के बाद प्रिंसिपल को बचाने की कोशिश, आधी रात में सबूतों को मिटाने की कोशिश और फिर पुलिस कमिश्नर की दादागीरी. एक के बाद एक ऐसी घटनाएं होती गईं कि लोगों का गुस्सा बढ़ता गया और अब ये नाराजगी सड़कों पर दिखाई दी. इस प्रोटेस्ट को संयम के साथ कंट्रोल करने की बजाय कोलकाता पुलिस ने बर्बरता का रास्ता चुना जिससे लोगों में आक्रोश और बढ़ गया. आज भी इस बात के संकेत मिले कि ममता बनर्जी नरम होने को तैयार नहीं हैं. उनकी पार्टी के लोगों ने छात्रों के मार्च को फेल करार दिया. इस तरह की बातों से न लोग शांत होंगे, न मामला सुलझेगा. ममता बनर्जी के लिए मुसीबत और बढ़ेगी. ये सही है कि ममता बनर्जी के दिमाग में बांग्लादेश में हुए स्टुडेंट प्रोटेस्ट का डर हो सकता है. इसीलिए पुलिस को सख्ती का आदेश दिया. लेकिन कोलकाता में जो मसला है वो इतना जज़्बाती है कि वो लाठियों और गोली से दबाया नहीं जा सकता.
Can’t deal with an emotional issue with lathis, bullets!
With President Droupadi Murmu expressing her reaction over the Kolkata medic rape-murder incident as “dismayed and horrified”, it is time for all political parties to cool down tempers and take stock of the situation. But Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, facing flak due to violence during protests, is unrelenting. On Wednesday, Mamata Banerjee named Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said, “if Bengal is allowed to burn, Delhi, Bihar, UP, Odisha and Northeast will also burn”. There were incidents of firing and bomb throwing during BJP’s 12-hour Bengal Bandh call today, while student protesters during their ‘Nabanna March’ had to face lathicharge and tear gas shells on Tuesday. Whatever happened in Kolkata on Tuesday, is not good for democracy. I remember, during Left Front rule, Mamata Banerjee used to come out on the streets, give bandh call, and her supporters used to gherao the secretariat. Police during Left regime used to deal harshly with Trinamool Congress protesters. During that period, Mamata used to raise her voice for restoring democracy. Sadly, the same leader sat inside her Nabanna secretariat on Tuesday and watched her police beating up student protesters on television. Mamata had given strict instructions to police not to allow a single protester to reach the secretariat. But the sound of police lathis, student protesters crying out in pain, their slogans must have reached Mamata’s ears. At least now, Mamata should realize what the people of Bengal want, how much people are angry over the brutal rape-murder of a lady trainee doctor and their worries about the safety of their daughters. If the sentiments of common people have not reached Mamata till now, then her difficulties are surely going to increase. She must know that the common people do not cower before police lathis. Heavens would not have fallen if she had allowed the students to reach Nabanna Bhavan and raise slogans. Mamata’s allegation that BJP was behind the student protest does not hold water. It is the other way round. After police lathi charge on students, BJP had to jump into the fray and give a bandh call. There are two reasons why BJP jumped into the fray. Firstly, Trinamool students’ wing supporters on Tuesday fought pitched battles with the student protesters, forcing the BJP to come to the streets. Secondly, the brutal manner in which Kolkata Police beat up students with lathis, fired tear gas shells and water cannons. Some important people from Kolkata came and met me on Tuesday. They told me that they have never seen such anger among the people. People on the streets are angry with their chief minister. The most important reason behind this anger is: the manner in which the medical college principal was shielded after the gruesome rape-murder incident, and destruction of vital evidence related to the crime that took place after midnight. People are also angry with the ‘dadagiri’ of the Kolkata Police Commissioner. These actions fuelled public anger. That anger was reflected on the streets of Kolkata. Instead of controlling the protesters carefully, with restraint, the Kolkata Police resorted to brutal tactics. This has raised public anger to another level. From all indications available, Mamata Banerjee is unwilling to tread the soft path. She and her leaders are trying to shift the blame on BJP. Her leaders described the students’ march as “a failed one”. This is not going to calm people’s anger. It is true that the student protests in Bangladesh could be rankling in Mamta’s mind, and she ordered the police to deal with protesters harshly. But Mamata must realize: the issue in Kolkata is an emotional one and it cannot be controlled by lathis and bullets.
योगी सही कह रहे हैं : हिंदुओं को बांग्लादेश की घटनाओं से सबक लेना चाहिए
उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ ने जन्माष्टमी के अवसर पर सभी हिन्दुओं से अपील की कि वे बांग्लादेश मे हुई घटनाओं से सबक लें और आपसी एकती बनाए रखें. अपनी खास शैली में योगी ने कहा, “हम एक रहेंगे, को नेक रहेंगे, हम बंटेगे, तो कटेंगे”. योगी का संदेश स्पष्ट है. बांग्लादेश में हिंदुओं पर जिस तरह से जुल्म हुए, उस पर दुनिया में किसी ने आवाज नहीं उठाई. जो अमेरिका, भारत में होने वाली छोटी-छोटी घटनाओं पर उपदेश देता है, उसने भी संवेदना नहीं दिखाई. जिस तादाद में बांग्लादेश में हिंदुओं को मारा गया, घर जलाए गए, मंदिरों को तबाह किया गया, वो वाकई में दिल दहलाने वाला था. पर जो मुल्क फिलिस्तीन के नाम पर बार-बार आवाज़ उठाते रहे, वो बांग्लादेश के सवाल पर खामोश हो गए. ऐसे में अगर भारत के लोग जातियों में बंटते रहेंगे, धर्म के नाम पर लड़ते रहेंगे, तो देश कभी मजबूत नहीं हो सकता. दुख की बात तो ये है कि हमारे देश में ज्यादातर राजनीतिक दलों ने बांग्लादेश में हिंदुओं पर हो रहे जुल्म पर रिएक्ट नहीं किया. लगता है कि हिंदुओं की बात करेंगे, तो कहीं मुसलमान उनसे नाराज़ न हो जाएं. बांग्लादेश में भी अंतरिम सरकार क प्रमुख मोहम्मद युनूस ने सिर्फ जुबानी जमाखर्च किया, हिंदुओं से सहानुभूति तो दिखाई लेकिन कुछ कर नहीं पाएं. ये साफ है कि बांग्लादेश में अब जमात-ए-इस्लामी जैसा कठमुल्ला संगठन हावी हैं और वो सिर्फ शेख हसीना को हटाकर संतुष्ट नहीं है. इसीलिए बांग्लादेश में अभी भी अमन कायम नहीं हुआ है. अभी भी वहां रहने वाले हिंदू डरे हुए हैं. आज बांग्लादेश के ज्यादातर हिन्दू कन्हैया का जन्मोत्सव नहीं मना पाए क्योंकि उन्हें फिर से कट्टरपंथियों के हमलों का डर था. आम तौर पर मेहरपुर का इस्कॉन मंदिर में हर साल जन्माष्टमी पर भव्य प्रोग्राम होता था लेकिन इस मंदिर में इस बार सन्नाटा था. बांग्लादेश में हुई हिंसा में मेहरपुर के इस्कॉन मंदिर पर भी हमला हुआ था, पूरा मंदिर जला दिया गया था. हमले के बीस दिन बाद भी कुछ नहीं बदला है. जले हुए मंदिर में सिर्फ एक पुजारी बचे हैं. इस्कॉन मंदिर के पुजारी सुमोहन मुकुंद दास ने जन्माष्टमी न मना पाने का दुख जताया. उन्होंने बांग्लादेश से एक भावुक संदेश भेजा है, जिसमें उन्होने कहा, “बांगालदेश के हिन्दू डरे हुए हैं, मंदिर भी पूरी तरह जल चुका है, सरकार से किसी तरह की मदद नहीं मिली है, इसलिए इस बार हम अपने आराध्य का जन्मोत्सव भी नहीं मना पा रहे हैं. ..हम दुनिया भर के हिन्दुओं से अपील करते हैं कि बांग्लादेश के हिन्दुओं के लिए आवाज़ उठाएं.”
Yogi is right: Hindus should learn from Bangladesh
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday appealed to Hindus to remain united and learn lessons from Bangladesh, where minority Hindus are facing atrocities. Yogi, in his typical style, said, “Ek Rahengey, Toh Nek Rahengey, Batengey Toh Katengey” (If we remain united, everything will be fine, if we remain divided, we will be destroyed). Yogi’s message is clear. No country, except India, raised its voice against the atrocities committed on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. Even the United States, which normally comments on minor incidents in India, has not been vocal. Many Hindus were brutally killed, their homes and shops looted and set on fire and Hindu temples were vandalized in Bangladesh by Islamic fundamentalists. These incidents are heart rending. Countries which had been raising their voice in support of Palestine, are silent on the issue of Bangladesh. Yogi’s message was: if Hindus and others remain silent on what happened in Bangladesh, if Hindus remain divided among themselves in the name of castes, then Bharat will never become strong. The sad part is that most of the political parties in our country did not react, as they should, over the atrocities perpetrated on Hindus in Bangladesh. This could be because of their fear that raising their voice in support of Bangladeshi Hindus could cost them votes of minorities in India. The head of Bangladesh interim government Mohammed Yunus has only offered lip sympathy to Hindus, but nothing was done on the ground to protect Hindus. Islamic fundamentalists, led by Jamaat-e-Islami, have reared their heads after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government. Islamic jihadists are openly intimidating Hindu families and forcing them to leave their homes. Presently, most of the Hindus are living in a state of fear in Bangladesh. They could not celebrate Janmashtami on Monday, as they used to in previous years. This was because of fear of attacks from Islamic jihadists. For example, the ISKCON temple in Meharpur used to organize a fabulous Janmashtami celebration every year, but on Monday, there was eerie silence inside the temple premises. The temple had been attacked and set on fire by jihadists. Twenty days after the attack, nothing has changed. Only one priest was present inside the burnt temple premises. The chief priest of ISKCON temple Sumohan Das sent an emotional message to all saying, “Hindus in Bangladesh are living in fear, we have not received any help from the government, hence we are unable to celebrate Janmashtami, we appeal to all Hindus across the world to raise their voice for us.” It is, in this context, that Yogi Adityanath’s appeal to Hindus gains significance.
कोलकाता रेप-हत्या : दुःखी मां-बाप ने बताया झूठी है पुलिस
इंडिया टीवी के ‘आज की बात’ शो में शुक्रवार को हमने सुनाया, कोलकाता के उन माता-पिता की बात, जिनके साथ पूरे देश की सहानुभूति है. वो अभागे माता-पिता, जिन्होंने अपनी बेटी को खोया, जिनकी बेटी की मेडिकल कॉलेज में बर्बर रेप के बाद निर्मम हत्या कर दी गई थी. इन माता-पिता के दर्द की कोई इंतहा नहीं है, वे बेबस, मजबूर हैं. उन्होंने अपनी जवान बेटी खोई है और हैवानियत के दो हफ्ते बाद भी वो अपनी बेटी को इंसाफ दिलाने के लिए संघर्ष कर रहे हैं. उनका ये जज़्बा आपको इंडिया टीवी के रिपोर्टर के साथ हुई बातचीत में सुनाई देगा. डॉक्टर बेटी के मां-बाप ने बड़ी हिम्मत दिखाई, सारी बातें खुलकर बताईं, कोलकाता पुलिस के झूठ का पर्दाफाश किया, उनकी बेटी के साथ उस दिन क्या हुआ, इन दोनों के साथ कैसा सलूक हुआ, पहली बार बताया कि 9 अगस्त की काली सुबह से लेकर रात 12 बजे तक कितना दर्द सहा, कितनी परेशानियां झेली. उन्होंने सुप्रीम कोर्ट में पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार की तरफ से किए गए दावों की हकीकत बताई, अस्पताल से पहला फोन कब आया? किसने फोन किया? क्या कहा? फिर दूसरी कॉल किसने की? अस्पताल पहुंचे तो क्या देखा? उन्हें बेटी का चेहरा देखने से किसने रोका? उस वक्त अस्पताल में क्या चल रहा था? पहली बार उन्होंने बेटी की लाश कब देखी? किस हालत में थी? कोलकाता पुलिस का रुख क्या था? ममता बनर्जी ने फोन किया तो क्या कहा? मेडिकल कॉलेज के प्रिंसिपल संदीप घोष ने लेडी डॉक्टर के मां-बाप से क्या कहा? क्या 9 अगस्त को सबूतों को मिटाने की कोशिश हुई? किसने की? अस्पताल के प्रिंसिपल, वाइस प्रिंसिपल का रुख कैसा था? कोलकाता पुलिस क्या कर रही थी? क्या FIR दर्ज होने में देरी लेडी डॉक्टर के मां-बाप के कारण हुई? उन्होंने शिकायत कब लिख कर दी? और केस कब दर्ज हुआ? कोलकाता पुलिस को लेडी डॉक्टर की अंत्येष्टि की जल्दी क्यों थी? माता पिता पर इसके लिए किसने दबाव बनाया? इन सारे सवालों के जवाब डॉक्टर के दुखी माता पिता ने खुलकर दिए. India TV संवाददाता मनीष भट्टाचार्य से माता-पिता की खास बातचीत आप सुनेंगे, तो आप उनका दर्द महसूस कर पाएंगे. कुल मिलाकर इस पूरे मामले में कोलकाता पुलिस की बेदर्दी, पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार की बदनीयती और आर जी कर मेडिकल कॉलेज के मेनेजमेंट की साजिश, ये सब डॉक्टर के मां-बाप की बातें सुनकर साफ हो जाएगी. अभी तक ये बताया जा रहा था कि हत्या के बाद सबसे पहला फोन कॉलेज के वाइस प्रिंसिपल ने किया, लेकिन डॉक्टर के माता पिता ने इंडिया टीवी को बताया कि कॉलेज से पहला फोन दस बजे के करीब असिस्टेंट सुपरिन्टेंडेट ने किया, पहले बताया कि बेटी बीमार है, फिर दोबारा फोन करके कहा कि बेटी ने सुसाइड कर लिया है. अभी तक कोलकाता पुलिस और हॉस्पिटल प्रशासन दावा कर रहा था कि माता पिता को पहले फोन वाइस प्रिंसिपल ने किया था. हॉस्पिटल की तरफ से दावा किया जा रहा था कि उन्होंने कभी ये नहीं कहा कि डॉक्टर ने सुसाइड किया है लेकिन लड़की के माता पिता ने इंडिया टीवी से बात करते हुए इस दावे की हकीकत बता दी. बड़ी बात ये है कि मां-बाप ने कहा कि जब वो हॉस्पिटल पहुंचे तो उन्हें बेटी का चेहरा नहीं देखने दिया गया. तीन- साढ़े तीन घंटे तक उन्हें इधर उधर घुमाया गया. वहां सीनियर डॉक्टर्स , पुलिस कमिश्नर थे. पुलिस कमिश्नर के फोन पर मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी का फोन आया. कमिश्नर ने ममता से उनकी बात कराई. मां-बाप के मुताबिक, ममता बनर्जी ने उनसे कहा कि उनकी बेटी के साथ गलत हुआ है, वह न्याय दिलाने की पूरी कोशिश करेंगी. ममता बनर्जी से बात हो जाने के बाद ही उन्हें बेटी की लाश देखने दी गई. लेडी डॉक्टर की हत्या सुबह हुई, पोस्टमार्टम शाम छह से सात बजे के बीच हुआ, रात करीब ग्यारह बजे अन्तिम संस्कार हो गया और अप्रकृतिक मृत्यु की FIR रात पौने बारह बजे दर्ज हुई. .FIR दर्ज होने में हुई इतनी देरी पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने भी हैरानी जताई. जस्टिस पारदीवाला ने तो यहां तक कहा कि उन्होंने अपनी तीस साल के करियर में ऐसा कोई केस नहीं देखा, पोस्टमर्टम के लिए लाश तभी जाती है, जब अप्रकृतिक मृत्यु हो. इस केस में FIR पोस्टमार्टम और अन्तिम संस्कार के बाद दर्ज क्यों की गई? क्राइम सीन को पोस्टमार्टम के बाद सील क्यों किया गया? उससे पहले पुलिस क्या कर रही थी? .इस पर पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार के वकील कपिल सिब्बल ने जवाब दिया था कि FIR में देरी बेटी के मां-बाप के कारण हुई. उन्होंने जब शिकायत लिखकर दी, उसी के आधार पर FIR की गई. लेकिन इंडिया टीवी को डॉक्टर के माता पिता ने कहा कि ये सरासर झूठ है, कोलकाता पुलिस झूठ बोल रही है. हकीकत ये है कि कोलकाता पुलिस किसी भी तरह उनकी बेटी का दाह संस्कार जल्दी से जल्दी करना चाहती थी. हॉस्पिटल में मौजूद डॉक्टर्स ने हंगामा किया था. बेटी की लाश देखकर कहा था कि ये काम किसी एक व्यक्ति का नहीं हो सकता, इसमें कई लोग शामिल हैं. इस बेटी के माता पिता ने कहा कि उन्होंने पोस्टमार्टम से पहले ही शाम 6 बजे लिखित शिकायत पुलिस को दे दी थी. लेकिन पुलिस ने दाह संस्कार के बाद रात पौने बारह बजे FIR दर्ज की. बेटी के बां-बाप ने कहा कि कॉलेज के प्रिंसिपल डॉक्टर संदीप घोष ने FIR दर्ज कराना तो दूर, उनसे न तो फोन पर बात की, और न अस्पताल में उनसे एक बार भी बात नहीं की. मां-बाप ने बताया कि जब वो हॉस्पिटल पहुंचे तो डॉक्टर संदीप घोष वहीं मौजूद थे, लेकिन उन्होंने उनसे न तो बात की, न ही उन्हें ढाढस बंधाने की ज़हमत उठाई. इन बुजुर्ग मां बाप का दर्द समझा जा सकता है, जिन्होंने अपनी होनहार इकलौती बेटी को खोया है. उनकी पीड़ा को शब्दों में बयान करना मुश्किल है. उनकी बेटी ने कैसी हैवानियत झेली, इसकी कल्पना करके भी दिल सिहर उठता है. हॉस्पिटल में उनके साथ जो व्यवहार हुआ, कोलकाता पुलिस का जो रुख था, उससे निराश होकर माता पिता ने कलकत्ता हाईकोर्ट में न्याय की गुहार लगाई, तब हाईकोर्ट ने जांच सीबीआई के हवाले कर दी. तब तक कोलकाता पुलिस दावा कर रही थी कि उसने जिस आरोपी संजय रॉय को पकड़ा है, उसी ने अकेले इस खौफनाक वारदात को अंजाम दिया है, लेकिन डॉक्टर बेटी के पिता ने कहा कि हॉस्पिटल में मौजूद जिन डॉक्टर्स ने उनकी बेटी की लाश को देखा, वहां के मंज़र को देखा, उन्होने कहा कि ये एक दरिंदे का काम नहीं है. उन्हें भी पूरा यक़ीन है कि इस मामले में एक से ज़्यादा लोग शामिल हैं, ये गैंग रेप का मामला है. पिता ने कहा कि जब वो सेमिनार हॉल में थे तो उनको ऐसा लगा कि पुलिस मामले को रफ़ा दफ़ा करना चाहती है, किसी को बचाने में जुटी है. अब इस केस की जांच CBI कर रही है. जांच करते हुए CBI को भी ग्यारह दिन हो गए लेकिन अब तक कोई ठोस खबर उन्हें नहीं मिली इसलिए डॉक्टर के माता पिता की बेसब्री बढ़ रही है . पिता ने कहा कि इस मामले में CBI की प्रतिष्ठा दांव पर है इसलिए वो CBI से अपील करते हैं कि इस केस को जल्दी से जल्दी हल करे और मुजरिम को कड़ी से कड़ी सज़ा दिलाए. जिस बेटी की निर्मम हत्या हुई, उनके मां-बाप से बात करना मुश्किल था. जिन माता पिता ने अपनी बेटी खोई, उनके दर्द को कुरेदना, उस दिन को उन्हें याद कराना हमारे रिपोर्टर के लिए भी बहुत मुश्किल था. लेकिन ये मां-बाप लड़ना चाहते हैं, सच बताना चाहते हैं, ताकि उनकी बेटी को इंसाफ मिले. वो देख रहे हैं कि उनकी बेटी की हत्या को लेकर, उसके साथ जानवरों जैसा व्यवहार करने वाले सच पर पर्दा डालने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं, सबूतों को मिटाने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं. डॉक्टर बेटी के मां-बाप ने बता दिया कि कोलकाता पुलिस ने FIR को लेकर झूठ बोला. बेटी के दाह संस्कार को लेकर गुमराह किया. मेडिकल कॉलेज के प्रशासन ने लाश को लेकर झूठ बोला, सबूत मिटाने की कोशिश को ढकने का प्रयास किया. पुलिस और कॉलेज दोनों ने लोगों को गुमराह करने का प्रयास किया. लेकिन ये दोनों माता-पिता गवाह हैं. इन्होंने अपनी आंखों से सब कुछ देखा है. दो हफ्ते तक सब कुछ बर्दाश्त किया. आज उन्होंने अपनी बात कहने की हिम्मत जुटाई. मैं तो इन मां-बाप से यही कह सकता हूं कि पूरा देश उनके साथ है. हम आपका दुख बांट सकते हैं लेकिन आपकी बेटी को कोई वापस नहीं ला सकता. सिर्फ सब मिलकर ये कोशिश कर सकते हैं कि आपको इंसाफ मिले. इस अभियान में इंडिया टीवी आपके साथ खड़ा है.
Kolkata rape-murder : Parents nailed police lies
The disclosures made to India TV by the parents of the trainee doctor of Kolkata’s R.G.Hospital clearly nail the lies peddled by the medical college authorities and Kolkata Police about the gruesome crime took place on the morning of August 9. The entire nation sympathizes with the unfortunate parents who lost their meritorious daughter. The parents are now helpless. Two weeks after the gruesome crime, they are still clueless and struggling for justice. The parents exposed the reality about the claims made by West Bengal government before the Supreme Court, about when the first phone call was made to them from the hospital, who made the call, and what they were told. The parents also revealed how hospital authorities tried to fudge facts, remove crucial evidence, how police deliberately delayed in showing them the body and also delayed in filing the FIR. The parents also alleged police was in a hurry to get the cremation done. This detailed interview with India TV reporter Manish Bhattacharye will help you get an idea about what happened hours after the gruesome crime took place. Let us go into their disclosures, one by one. Firstly, it was being claimed that the college vice-principal was the first to ring up the parents, but the girl’s father said, it was the assistant superintendent of the college who rang them up at around 10 am, and told them their daughter was not well. He rang up again to convey that she has committed suicide. The hospital authorities have been claiming they never told the parents about ‘suicide’. Secondly, the parents disclosed, when they reached the hospital, they had to wait for three and a half hours, and asked to go here and there. Senior doctors and the Police Commissioner were present in the hospital. The parents said, Mamata Banerjee spoke to them on the police commissioner’s phone, during which the chief minister assured that she would try her best to ensure justice. It was only after the parents spoke to the CM, that they were allowed to see their daughter’s body. The other lie that was nailed by the parents was: the murder took place early in the morning, post-mortem was done between 6-7 pm, cremation was done at 11 pm, and the FIR about ‘unnatural death’ was registered at 11.45 pm. The parents rejected as outright lie, the state government’s counsel Kapil Sibal’s claim in apex court that the delay in FIR was due to the delay caused by parents in writing their complaint. The parents said, they had given their written complaint to police at 6 pm, even before the post mortem took place, and that Kolkata Police wrote the FIR at 11.45 pm. Police was in a hurry to get the cremation done, the parents said. The college principal Dr Sandip Ghosh, the parents said, was present in the hospital but he did not speak to them even once, forget about consoling them or filing an FIR. The parents alleged that the hospital officials were busy in ‘cover up’ and not one of them spoke to them or tried to console them. The parents are now losing patience because, according to them, CBI probe has entered the 12th day and yet no other accused has been arrested. The victim’s father implored the CBI to solve the case soon and ensure speedy punishment to the culprits. It is now known to all that both the hospital management and police tried to ‘cover up’, tried to hide the fact that vital evidence was tampered with and removed, and above all, tried to mislead both the agitating doctors and the public at large. But remember: the parents of the unfortunate girl are the key eyewitnesses to the sordid circumstances that prevailed in the hospital hours after the crime. The parents have seen what happened, opted to stay silent for two weeks, and now, they have gathered courage to reveal the facts. I can only tell the parents that the entire nation stands with them.
